We all make mistakes, but for most of us we die and they’re forgotten—not so if you’re immortal.

For gods and immortals, grudges live forever.

One moment of poor judgment, a lack of understanding, or simply being oblivious to what’s going on around you can elevate you to the top of someone’s to-do list.

Be careful who you piss off.

Amid murder, ex-lovers, jewel heists, and much, much wine, the Cumhaill fam jam stays the course of fighting the good fight and standing behind our friends.

Ní neart go cur le chéile… There is strength in unity.

With the Culling looming in the distance and the knowledge that the showdown is building, we focus on strengthening Team Trouble and our allies.

Together we stand. Together we fall. Together we win. And the winner takes all.

This, the 11th book in the Chronicles of an Urban Druid series, is a decent enough read. It is not the best in the series. Far from it in fact. But it is still a enjoyable book.

All the usual suspects are there. Our main protagonist and the Cumhaill family, dragons and familiars, Nikon and Dionysus of course. It is a merry band of druids, creatures and misfits and I quite like them. These characters are what makes this book enjoyable.

As for the story and adventure, it is okay I guess but I have to say that I was not entirely convinced while reading it. Even though there is a red thread I felt it was going of a bit in all directions and it kind of crams in multiple plots in one story. I also felt that the book was wandering off a bit much in the direction of more mundane family matters or the Cumhaills. Too much dialogue about kids and whatnot.

The main story in this book is centered around Dionysus who has developed performance issues with his you-know-what. As one might suspect this is causing some concern for the God of wine and carnal pleasures. Reputation to uphold and all that.

At this point the author starts to mix Greek and Norse mythology and drags in a famous trickster from the halls of Oden which I felt wasn’t the best choice. It worked but only just. At least the author seemed to have read up on the subject. Not everyone gets it right in details like that Fenrisulven is not just another beast but actually the son of Loke after some indiscretions with the Giantess Angrboda. No I did not spell any of those names wrong by the way. I am Swedish after all and Sweden is more Norse than Hollywood so…

Anyway, it was a decent enough instalment in the series. The next one is in the pipeline.

Don't wait, go get book one and start this series today! Another adventure, another wild ride with Fi and Team Trouble. I enjoy how each book in this series manages to juggle the large cast of characters and no one ever feels left out. Of course, the books always center on Fiona and Bruin and usually Sloan by extension but then the rest of the family find their ways in and out. Helping where they are needed and fading into the wings for a bit to give someone else a turn.

Ciara and Emmett have handfasted but I still feel like Fiona is holding her at arm's length and it is starting to bother me. Fiona has aired her fears to Sloan and they have discussed it. Emmett is clearly happy and that's all Fiona wants. Ciara has come a long way since that first party and is a very different person. However, Fiona seemed more open and welcoming to the new girl than she had been to the woman who also lives in her house.

Celtic gods have not been explored much in this series but the Greek and now Norse gods have made for a fun mixing. Loki, the Norse trickster god, has a significant problem with Dionysus and decides it's finally time to act. I for one am all for the addition of gods from the other pantheons. It opens up an entirely new world to explore and keeps in line with the Cumhaill family being oddities in the druid world.

I seriously cannot get enough of this series. I put it off for so long and I have no idea why after eating them up like candy. It has its flaws and the constant Fiona praise can get old but it is not enough to detract from the story.

Grab your favorite snuggle blanket and find your favorite spot; happy reading!!

growing bored but too invested

It’s a weird “stalled moment of time” thing for me. I love the characters and am invested enough to wanna see what they do and be a part of their lives. But said lives are kinda boring now. And by that, I mean they’re repetitive. Fi’s amazing. Fi’s special. Fi’s hilarious. It’s all I hear (literally) when they’re telling instead of showing. Jokes are being recycled. The talks lead to nowhere by this point and the fighting isn’t fun, it’s just time wasted until something else happens. And it sounds really mean but I’m at that point in the series where consistency kills the love.

There’s no change. I feel like I’m reading the same book except the character’s story is being switched out for someone else and I’m getting side updates on the rest of the clan. The lack of romance now makes me think the “slow burn” between Sloan and Fiona was actually just the writing having no romance. The only spicy things happening are dirty jokes and walking in on other people doing it. Or Dio. lol. Anyways…

I think the series is more enjoyable when read slowly. Very slowly. It might make everything feel less redundant.

Otherwise the “bad guy of the day” was okay. Sucks that I got into this bad mood when another god’s involved. The writing just seems so general and very planny. I’ve lost my connection. There are some moments when I’m blown away or crying cause something hit the spot, but it’s otherwise more of a chore reading to the next chapter. I kinda miss the way I used to feel.

wow! just wow!

Truth in advertising time! Or should that be truth in reviewing? Whatever… lol. The truth is that this is actually my 2nd time reading through the series. I don’t know how I missed reviewing this the first time through, but I did.

And THIS is why I’m surprised…. This particular story encapsulates everything good and awesome about Clan Cumhaill - their fearless devotion to one another, the unwavering loyalty, the constant harassment and teasing, the refusal to lose one another, their TOTAL commitment to Love.

Notably, I actually forgot the big plot twist in this one which made this only that much more fun. However, I think I cried more while reading this than I have in a long time. There are just SO many hooks that sink in and pull in the heartstrings… and not a single one feels artificial or contrived.

So get some tissues, settle in, pick this book up and ENJOY

Loved it

Like I have already said, this series should be a TV show. I would love to see that!!! Anyways, like all the others before this one did not disappoint and I look forward to the next book in series. I enjoy the funny, love and adventure these book have with each storyline. The summery tells a lot of what the books about but not all the sweet juice details. ;) so you just gonna have to read this one too. But seriously, great read. Love Fi and her family. This one gives a good glimpse of what family love is to someone who is not used to it. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Another Great Book!!!

I love this series. I found the first book by accident but after reading the first few chapters, I was hooked. I read every book and had to wait for this book to come out. It only took me a day and a half to read this book and now I'm doing the waiting game again. But it's so worth the wait. I totally recommend this series to everyone who loves a strong female hero and her marry band of sidekicks. Fi is everything a good character needs to make a book great.

Wonderful!

This is my first review of this series, but each book is better than the previous one, and I thought it was time for me to express my appreciation. I love all the characters and all the shenanigans (Heehee! See what I did there, Auburn?) they get up to. I especially love the family and the expanding circle of loving people/beings they welcome to their homes. If you are trying to decide whether or not to start this series, go to the beginning and treat yourself to a whole lot of clean fun and hilarious innuendo.
As for me? I'm off to the next one! Woohoo!

good

I didn’t like this book quite as much as I liked previous books in the series. There was definitely a lot of talking and not quite as much action in this book. It definitely lived up to its name of the title because Dionysus, the God of wine and revelry, and Loki got into a bit of a tiff. Of course, Fi and some of her family members went to rescue him from his kidnapping. Even though they thought they rescue Dionysus they really didn’t. I will be reading the next book and the series.

My Wishlist series

This book and book 12 etc always stay on my must reads. Honestly the books are so well written that I’m addicted. The way the relationships are formed and kept is perfect. Basically I’m writing this review because it’s worth it to me, just because of how awesome it is. And, I’d say if you’re on book 10 moving to 11, it’s 100% hooked you in also, and boy is it worth it. Fiona is also great Canadian representation, although, the west coast is the best coast.

So Good!

I truly loved this book! It was calmer than the previous books, which was very refreshing. The first ten books were constant drama and struggle, but this one was more world building and problem solving than anything else. Of course, there was definitely drama, but it wasn't anything like the others. It's definitely a good read and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

A God's Mistake, book eleven of the Chronicles of an Urban Druid series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Wine and fun times, what could go wrong? Dionysis finds him on the wrong side of someone's temper, and Fi is determined to help. Again, such great characters. Although there is a huge cast over this series, each one gets enough detail to gain the readers' attention and empathy.

History Comes Back to Haunt Us

Team Trouble is hired to work security for a dark fae auction ball. Meanwhile Dionysus has issues that Fiona et al work to fix.

A couple of gods of Asgard get involved. Issues with the ball occur and things are not always as they seem.

Lots of action and witty dialog. A quick enjoyable read. Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Bookend Shenanigan and Wedding

A demi-god can't get it up, a mischief maker kidnap plot, a visit to Hel, a masquerade, wine-tasting, a sad skunk, and a wedding (and not necessarily in that order). Another home-run for Tempest and Anderle and I never want these stories to stop! Yay Team Cunhaill, my favorite family of druids etal!

A God’s Mistake

I have enjoyed this series from book 1. The characters are all great. Nicely developed. The story line continues nicely. It’s good to see how the family lives together, stays together, and gets into trouble together and works together to get out of the trouble. Highly recommended.

What a story, amiright?

This series is outstanding. Every time I dive into the next book I'm pulled in from the first page. Finding something extraordinary to read can be a challenge but this series stands out from the majority. It's real, every day life with a ton of action thrown in. Just love it!!

Love the druids

Fi, Sloan and her family face off against a couple sets of bad guys and have to rescue a friend. I love the family dynamics in these books and always look forward to the books. Each one has been excellent and I always have to finish the book in one read, no matter how late it gets. I can't wait for the next.

beautifully written

This book was a fabulous read. It explains things that were questions in all of our minds...like what really happened to Merlin all those years ago...and offer plenty of majick, mayhem, and Cumhail adventures to keep even the pickiest reader left satisfied. Highly recommend!

It played out like always - magical Fi opens her mouth without thinking, gets thrown into a hairy situation or twelve, miraculously makes it through with a healthy dose of foolish luck and sycophantic "Oh, Fi, you're amazing," and trots off to create a new crisis with neither her nor her followers the wiser.

Love this series!

Devoured this in no time. Love the characters and their family bond is amazing. Tarzan has a mid-life crisis and an incident from his past comes back to bite him in the butt. Love the twists and turns, and that ending. Bring on book 12.

Let's play hardball with a god.

The Clan is family and the family is clan, including friends. The Clan once again stands with their friends, and I love how that shows in every book. I really am impressed with the way the wedding is handled. More Clan love!

So touching

I could not ask for a more touching story. To be able to help a God get in touch with his feeling is truly amazing. To make anyone realize that someone actually cares about them and is not just talking is just an amazing talent.

Another great story to add to the saga. I need to get caught up with their own books. Both of you are great storytellers but I need to catch up on the Federation series too. I can't wait for more from the two.

another great read

This is 11 books in and the author still does not disappoint. The characters stay true to themselves and continue to grow as well. Love the dynamics between all the characters and how rich the story becomes because of that.
