I wrote a whole review, and then it deleted itself.😐

I am counting this as a book towards my goal, because I’m combining to short fic to count as one. This book was crazy good. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. Recently, I have been craving a story about Andrew and Neil that really emphasized a usage of ASL, due to how perfect it would be for them. Unfortunately, this book didn’t have as much use of it as I had hoped, but it was still amazingly well done. In this book, you were able to really see how Andrew knew Neil on an entirely different level that many people couldn’t understand. the way that they knew each movement in tiny detail of each other – how they can almost read each other’s thoughts. One of my favorite things within fictional relationships is when there’s a codependent. I know technically, that would be considered toxic and bad but when it’s fictional, it’s absolutely my favorite thing. Andrew and Neil have this connection with each other where you can see that the arch others everything. There will be no after for them. They are each other’s end person – from now until death. No other person will be able to comprehend who they are like they do for each other. Something that I always look for in fics but rarely see is a book that is able to capture the writing and energy that the canon book had originally. The story was able to do it. The writing was spot on, the vocabulary, the energy was so perfect and felt almost like it was just a part two of the series. I really enjoyed being able to see this side of them as they healed and grew. I’ve read a couple other fix already of their post cannon relationship, but this one must definitely felt the realist. I will now be going on a binge for the rest of the series.

Also, can we talk about how incredible it is to see partners go, absolutely feral and protection of each other. It is one of my most definite favorite things to ever get to see. And this one specifically Andrew goes so angry because he sees that people are violating Neil’s boundaries. for god sake, he pulls out double wielding daggers to stab Dan. My god was I kicking my feet and squealing. Literally makes me all giggly and shit. And then when you’re actually got just as angry with Allison and threw a hot object at her head? I was losing it. The way that I imagine the absolute force in that throw made me go insane. The way I know that he was just shaking in anger and for just a second, it was Nathaniel and not Neil standing there. And how this was the first time that somebody was actually sticking up for Andrew anyway, that was purely just because of his character. Drew deserves to have so much good in his life due to the pain in his past and thank God for Neil, who can actually give it to him.

reread 2:

neil's selflessness is the best and worst thing i've read, the way he's so aware of andrew even when he's hurting breaks my heart, also andrew calling neil only by rabbit and idiot is my favourite thing. this was one of my favourite headcannons of them, their sign language together and softness with each other is sweet as honey i love them

(counting this as the first two books + all the extra chapters)

Fics like this just warm my soul. This author did an amazing job showcasing the complexities of Andrew and Neils emotions, their relationship, and how they learn to cope and heal from their trauma.

I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.

I usually don't read fanfiction but stumbled upon this one on accident. Didn't even really plan to read it but the blurb caught my attention so I read a little bit and a few hours later I had read the whole thing. Oops.
