I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.
I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.
I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.
Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.
I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.
Another fabulous romance from the pen of Melanie Milburne, I loved the title because I do love Cinderella and this story ticks all of the boxes for an awesome and beautiful story come along and meet billionaire Lucas Rothwell and wedding planner Ruby Pennignton as they fall in love so beautifully in such a beautiful setting.
Lucas is currently on his estate in the Yorkshire Moors keeping a big secret, he is moody and wants no visitors his loyal housekeeper is there to help, he does not expect Ruby to arrive begging for a favour this is the last thing that he wants to cope with, but he is willing to help if Ruby is willing to come to Greece with him for one week.
Ruby really needs this favour from Lucas using the estate for a wedding, but Lucas is not willing to help weddings are the last thing that he is interested in and with the problems he has at the moment convincing him to let her use it is going to be hard. But when he asks her to come to his Greek Island for one week in exchange for using the estate Ruby jumps at the chance, spending time with Lucas is not going to be hard.
One week on a beautiful island brings them together in the most sensual and sizzling of ways, they have known each other since they were young and Ruby has always had a crush on Lucas and this crush now grows to love even if Lucas takes a bit longer to realise that what he feels for Ruby is true love. This is a beautiful story that had me sighing with delight as Lucas finally comes to terms with the love he has for Ruby, and it is one that I would highly recommend.
My thanks to the author for my copy to read and review.
Cinderella's Invitation to Greece by Melanie Milburne is a May 22 release that is the perfect bright and sunshiney story the northern hemisphere will adore as their part of the world starts warming up.
Ruby rushes to her childhood home, determined to convince her childhood crush and now owner Lucas, that the beautiful old Manor would be the perfect location to hold a wedding. Shocked to discover Lucas's secret Ruby ends up agreeing to accompany Lucas to his beautiful Greek Island for a week. With the backdrop of paradise, Ruby and Lucas grow closer together but knowing Lucas can't offer her what she wants Ruby calls time on their journey.
Melanie Milburne has such a lovely way of crafting beautifully romantic tales with lovely side characters and beautiful exotic locations. I really enjoyed this story for the way Ruby and Lucas grew together. I really liked Lucas's secret, that was unique. I loved that a Presents was created without all the angsty side of things . I loved the beautiful way with words and descriptions and the crafting of the plot and the little bits of humour sprinkled through out.
Recommended to all Presents lovers who like their stories without the angst.
Attention grabbing plot! The first book in the Weddings Worth Billions series is an interesting take on an unrequited crush story. The characters are easy enough to like, and the plot was entertaining but a bit choppy with a few spots that needed more development. Overall an enjoyable read.
Lucas is successful and in demand, but he's hiding out in one of his luxury properties from real life for a bit. I enjoyed what we got to know of him.
Ruby is sweet with an innocence to her that aids in her likeability.
I recommend this book to anyone that likes a bit of a reunion story that centers on a past crush and the reconnection that makes them see more about each other than ever before.
Ruby Pennington arrives at the Manor where her grandmother works and lives at. It was her childhood home because her grandmother took her in. Now she’s all grown up and runs a business with her friends, doing weddings, catering and photography. They just received a offer to do a celebrity wedding if they can have the wedding there at beautiful old Manor. The now owner, Lucas Rothwell, a renowned billionaire is standing in Ruby’s way. He tells her no but Ruby won’t stop trying. Now that her grandmother is in the hospital, she will take her place for the week to help Lucas. Lucas has a secret and doesn’t want the media or his businesses to know. He makes a deal with Ruby since he is selling the Manor anyway if she helps him. She agrees. What could go wrong? Time on his private island, just the two of them. Chemistry is off the chart. Can he keep his hands off of Ruby? Will they have an affair? It can’t be anything else. He doesn’t believe in love. She does. Will they walk away? Will his secret come to light? Will he learn to trust her? The characters are wonderful. Both hurt by their parents, both don’t trust easily. Both deserves love. It’s worth the read.
This is the 1st book in the series and it was okay. The h and H had known each other from childhood, her grandmother worked for his family. She was raised there and has had a crush on the H since she was 16. The plot was okay, she asks him for a favor and in return for granting her the favor, he wants her to go to Greece with him, he has temporarily lost his sight. At times the h came off as needy and whiny, neither had a great childhood. The ending felt rushed. No epilogue.
Melanie Milburne gives us a wonderful, romantic book with a beautiful location. I really enjoyed this story between Ruby and Lucas. Lucas's secret helped build this relationship. The author has a way with words and descriptions too.
Urgh, did not like this. Heroine Ruby was petulant and childish, whining when she didn't get her way. And arranging a society wedding in less than a week was just such a ridiculous notion. Skimmed to finish.
