Caleb Johnson: Mountain Man: Fire and Brimstone: A Frontier Western Adventure

Rate this book
The fourteenth book in the Mountain Life Western Adventure series from Charles Ray!

After George Armstrong Custer and his men were slaughtered at the Battle of the Greasy Grass, the incident known as the Battle of the Little Big Horn by the U.S. cavalry, Sitting Bull, one of the main Lakota Sioux war chiefs, fled to Canada with many of his followers.

Years later, Black Feather, a disciple of Sitting Bull, organizes a war party and comes south to get vengeance for the American government for violating a treaty and taking the Black Hills, a sacred ground, from the Sioux people. Pitted against him is an army major, a zealot who is determined to exact vengeance against the Sioux for killing Custer, his idol.

Caleb is hired to guide the cavalry to locate Black Feather’s forces. He finds himself conflicted. He does not want to see innocent settlers hurt, but at the same time understands the anger of the Sioux at the way they have been mistreated by the government.

As the two forces come closer to facing off, Caleb must make a decision that might change his life forever.

I've been writing since my teens. In addition to writing for several newspapers and magazines in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, I've written two books on leadership and a number of fiction works. I'm also a published poet, photographer, and artist. I write in several genres, reflecting my broad reading tastes. I spent 20 years in the army, retiring in 1982 and becoming a diplomat. I've worked in about 10 countries and traveled to about 30 more, mining each for material to write about.

Caleb proves himself worthy in his efforts to bring justice to those responsible for their misdeeds!

A very fast moving extravaganza that touches any serious reader's heart, when Caleb is called upon to lead a group of Army personnel in pursuit of rouge Indians! The Major in charge is a bigot, who wishes to avenge the death of Custer, and is too headstrong for his, and the troops under his command!
Outstanding storylines that successfully portrays the reality of what can happen when a Senior Officer fails to listen to hi second in command! Too, Mr. Ray's outstanding character selections were unsurpassed in their ongoing commanding assignments throughout this compelling western masterpiece! No slow downs throughout this exciting rendition of realistic old American western folklore extravaganzas!
Certainly recommend this outstanding western series of unending exciting adventures to all readers, regardless of what your reading pleasure might be! You dyed in the wool western enthusiasts will definitely find yourselves completely mesmerized from beginning to end! Too, you non-western readers will certainly find yourselves unable to put this compelling series of unending excitement aside until the final paragraph has been absorbed!!!😃
