With every door behind him closed, Ash Bennett has one option: straight ahead to the unknown of planet Th’rann. An ominous welcome raises questions about what to expect moving forward. Ruled by Sovereign Kraetos D’narian, Th’rann is engulfed in lies, tyranny, and political games played by the power-hungry both at home and beyond. Problems mount as Ash is forced to delve into a deep well of bureaucracy. To save himself and others, he must deal with the worsening infection of The Nothing Place, stave off the threat of war between Zawhe and Th’rann, and learn who within the palace to trust. Can Ash withstand the increasing weight of Kraetos’s love and attention? Will he and his friends find a way to repair his infection before it’s too late? Will Paul Bennett ever forgive him? Leaving the only home and family he’s ever known might be Ash Bennett’s most difficult challenge yet.
Once again, L.A. Goodman has proven how exceptional of a writer she is! This book is jam packed full of lots of information and adventure! It keeps you engaged and tugs at your heart. You will be hanging on every word and beg for more at the end! She left me hanging at the end in the most delectable and enticing way, as all great series authors do!
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was saving this third book like a treat. Unfortunately, although it’s well-written, very little happens in this book. There is waaaayyyy too much repetitive navel-gazing with Ash constantly examining and expressing his feelings. I found myself skimming quickly during the middle, hoping for something to actually happen that would move the plot forward. And everyone smirking all the time got really annoying. The concept is really great and the characters are great. I’ll try the 4th book for sure. I just hope it has more substance.
This book was amazing! L.A. Goodman is so good at capturing the heart of each character. I feel like I know each one. I anxiously await the next installment of the Ash Bennett story. And yes, his name is ASH BENNETT, not Theros!
I enjoyed seeing the different relationships develop and change over the course the book. It was a really fun read with a great cast of characters and wonderful world building. I’m looking forward to the next one!
