Read for my toddler's bedtime. Winter makes it difficult for different animals to obtain foods. So Chipper the Fox decided to tip toe to each animals' den to drop off surprise gifts for them, except he's not stealth enough and his plans failed. Later he recruited his friends to help. There were no identification what animals Gus, Scout, and Marta were. A rhyming read.

This was such an adorable picture book, that you can't help but love Chipper the fox despite his little mishaps as he has the best of intentions. In Chipper Makes Merry by Kimber Fox Morgan, it is Wintertime and the snow is making everyone cold, miserable, and lonely. Chipper hates seeing people sad, so he decides to go on his merry way and help his woodland/ forest creatures by doing something wonderful for them and giving them a gift relating to what they need. However, things just don't always turn out the way he wants, but that's alright as Chipper has the best of intentions and kindness in his heart, and sometimes that is what matters the most. Chipper Makes Merry also had cute illustrations and overall was just a great story and would work well in teaching children about kindness and filling their buckets of goodness, as with the world in its current state - this book is exactly the bright light we need in the darkness. Chipper Makes Merry by Kimber Fox Morgan is the perfect picture book for ages 4 -8 years old.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

It is a cold winter in Artic Land, the howling wind brings its freezing cold breeze around the homes of the forest animals, and the snow makes it hard for them to find food to eat. Poor Gus and Scout are having such a hard time that Chipper the Fox decides to Make them Merry to help them out. But poor Fox seems to mess up everything. Then he has an idea, and he wants the help of his friends Gus and Scout. And you need to read the book to find out what this big surprise is!

To say I love book doesn’t do justice to it. Chipper Makes Merry is an adorable children’s book that teaches children the importance of helping others in need. And what a clever idea to use a fox to teach such a valuable lesson. Kimber Fox Morgan does an amazing job writing this special book. The words are fun and easy to read for the older child. And the illustrations by Kim Sponaugle are so very adorable your children will love looking at the pictures. Each page is filled with winter, snow covered forest ground and I love the way Morgan makes some of the words so much fun. Children will not only learn the valuable lesson of helping others, they have the beautiful illustrations to view any time they want. Kimber Fox Morgan and Kim Sponaugle work so well together, I hope to review more books by these two in the near future. This special book is a must to read to children during the cold winter days. I think Chipper Makes Merry is a must for daycare, kindergarten and young elementary classrooms, as well as elementary school libraries. I would love to see a copy of this book in any Doctor or Dentist office. Wouldn’t that be neat?

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

'Tip toe, tip toe, crackle, crunch! This sneaky fox is swift.'

These words explain how Chipper the Fox is hoping to give his friends in Arctic Land some joy and happiness by surprising them with gifts. Instead, he is met with problems and feels like he has failed. Author Kimber Fox Morgan and illustrator Kim Sponaugle have created Chipper Makes Merry, a sweet, happy story that is very appealing to young children. The rhyming text is fun to read and the bright, colorful illustrations are the perfect touch. There is snow in almost every scene, the forest animals are adorable, and what child wouldn't enjoy a cute fox wearing a Christmas-green scarf?

Best of all, this is a teaching story! Chipper knows that his friends have had a hard year and he wants to cheer them up by giving them gifts. His thoughtful actions show children that thinking of others and being kind is a wonderful way to act. Happiness, kindness, and giving...aren't all of these perfect examples of the true holiday spirit?

Chipper Makes Merry is the perfect holiday book to read with your children, and older children will enjoy reading it by themselves. I recommend it for both home and school libraries.

Chipper Makes Merry is a charming book. It is suitable for the winter season. The story seems to be about a young fox that wants to help his friends be happy. He wants to cheer them up with small surprises. Will Chipper be successful, or will he despair at his mistakes.

The pictures are well done. I love the way Chipper is determined. But will he be successful? Will he have to help his friends out even when they're a few mess-ups along the way. Will Chipper get these two friends to help out and maybe cheer up Moose?

This book deals with kindness and determination. Children will want to read this book year-round. However, it remains set during the cold winter season. Chipper's plan does ruin, or will he find a way to be successful in making things, Merry.

Children will want to cheer on this little friendly fox. They will laugh and encourage their little furry friend with his little surprises when he tries and leaves them for this friend. Will it work? Children will enjoy the fun of this book. This phase is said repeatedly throughout the book "Tip Toe, Tip Toe, Crackle, Crunch!" I wonder how it all ends up for Chipper and his furry friends?

A lovely book about kindness!
I loved how Kimber Fox Morgan took this little Fox and used him as a lesson in caring for our friends, showing kindness to those around us, and being selfless.

Chipper Fox is a beautiful fox. He is swift and sweet, kind, and caring. Chipper Fox tries his best through the long winter months to help his friends feel loved and warm, but nothing seems to go as he planned, yet he never gives up. A great many lessons are packed into this wonderful little book.

The Illustrations were BEAUTIFUL and so engaging. I loved how the illustrator, Kim Sponaugle, used the whole page as a canvas and filled it in such a way that your eyes continually move from one spot to the next. As if you are truly following Chipper Fox on his kindness journey!

A beautiful winter story full of friends, perseverance, and genuine kindness. So, grab some hot chocolate, a blanket, and (a furry friend or two!) then read this cute book. I loved it, 5 stars.

Chipper Makes Merry is an adorable children's book about an artic fox who tries to bring goodness to his friends. He certainly has wonderful ideas that will bring some happiness and cheer to those who are down, hurt, or lacking in some way. Unfortunately for Chipper, even though his heart is in the right place, his plans don't quite go off as planned. But he is Chipper and he does keep trying.

While he still trying to bring some holiday cheer to friends in this cold winter, he also learns a valuable lesson. Sometimes it helps and is best to let others in on the surprise and to help you.

I enjoyed this cute little book about a bleak winter and a happy fox whose heart is in the right place. The illustrations are bright and colorful with lessons for both the old and the young.

This is a sweet and fun read. Young readers will really enjoy Chipper and his friends. Chipper really helps to bring the joy to all his friends. In the end they all get in on the fun together; because this is what friends do for each other.

This is an easy book to read. Not too long sentences. Which I find is a very good thing with young readers. For example, my niece is five. She likes reading books but if they are too "wordy", she gets distracted easily and can't focus on the story. Plus, if the pages are too busy with illustrations that can be a distraction too. The illustrations in this book were not busy and really helped to bring the story alive.

Chipper the Arctic Fox is sly and swift, and he uses his many talents to bring joy to his woodland friends. It has been a difficult year for the creatures of Arctic Land, and this season is proving to be even more worrisome. Gus’s injured flipper impairs his ability to catch fish, Scout’s den is frightfully cold, and Marta is feeling blue as winter descends upon her. Through quick thinking and kind motivations, Chipper does what he can to improve life for his companions and inspires them to join together in the spirit of camaraderie.

This winter-themed picture book is well suited to young children to enjoy in a read aloud setting. Short phrases appear on each page and are often printed in unusual and playful shapes, which adds to textual awareness for pre- and early-readers. These lines occasionally rhyme, which adds an enjoyable rhythm to those segments of the narrative. A repetitive structure enhances comfort and confidence as readers engage with this story, building an expectation of action as the story progresses. Though the plot feels disjointed at times, the overall message is clear and children will be inspired to show acts of kindness of their own after reading Chipper’s story.

Soft, cheerful illustrations permeate the narrative, folding readers into the feeling of a winter wonderland. Pine trees are frosted with snow, pine cones and red birds adorn their branches, and the woodland creatures are accented with human garments like scarves and hats. Cheerful expressions are found on each of the characters’ faces, and the anthropomorphic approach to their presentation will endear young readers to them all. Delightful details are included in each page, encouraging young readers to spend time investigating the illustrations as they engage with the story.

This tale is a lovely, nondenominational approach to the winter holiday season for preschool-aged readers. Gifts are shared among the woodland animals, but there is no overt mention of any specific celebration; rather, the presents are based solely on kindness and wanting to share with friends. Readers will enjoy the visual component of this story and the overall message it imparts. This book is a cheerful addition to libraries for young children.

Small acts of kindness go a long way, especially now as we face uncertainty, and it can be hard to find the good each day.

Chipper the Fox is a kind-hearted little critter who just wants to help his friends find happiness at a very difficult time in the Arctic. All of his friends are sad for different reasons and he wants to add just that tiny bit of sunshine to their lives. Does he makes little mistakes during his adventure? He sure does – but his kindness and good spirit shines through.

This is an adorable children’s book for an important message to young children. It is so important to teach young children that kindness, thoughtfulness and giving to others goes a long way. We never know what is going on in someone’s life – it is always best to treat all with kindness. If you see someone having a bad day, week or even month, it is a small gesture that could make a difference in their life. And if you can do it together as friends, even better! It is also important for them to understand that sometimes our kindness doesn’t work out quite the way we wanted it too but that doesn’t mean it was wrong or bad, just different.

The illustrations are lovely and bring to life the compassion and warmth of the story. The story itself is easy to read with a young child, we loved the way the story flowed together. This will be a great addition to your home library for all year round.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from iRead Book Tours. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

Chipper Makes Merry by Kimber Fox Morgan is a delightful children’s book that left my niece smiling. She loved the cute characters drawn by Kim Sponaugle, especially the walrus. She liked its large teeth and round body. She also laughed when the Arctic fox held up the sticky fish.

What I loved about Chipper Makes Merry, besides the adorable drawn characters, was the repetition. My niece was saying the following line with me in no time flat: Tip toe, tip toe, crackle crunch!

While my five-year-old niece could make out some of the sight words in Chipper Makes Merry, there were still several words she needed my assistance with, such as mischief and scheme. This didn’t bother me because, with repetition, she will be able to decipher the words on her own soon enough.

Overall, Chipper Makes Merry was a humungous hit. I love any book that promotes spreading cheer and helping out others. When people or animals are feeling sad, we should want to lift their spirits.

What a delightful winter/holiday book for all ages! The flowing and rhyming verse is perfect for preschoolers and young readers as a read aloud or a read along. Young readers will love Chipper's kindness and the hijinks that ensue as he is determined to bring some light and love to his forest friends. Older kids and adults will see themselves in both Chipper and his delightfully cute forest friends. Sometimes life isn't perfect, times are hard for whatever reason, and sometimes you just get sad. We've all been there and perhaps had a friend show up for us with a pick me up or a kind word or deed. It's easy to remember a time when we've been both the cheerer and the cheeree. Chipper's merry making mission is a great reminder to us of the power of commuity and friendship and determnination to keep reaching out and spreading magic and love! The illustrations are beautiful and evoke warm feelings as you get to know Chipper, Gus, Scout, and Marta. Even more fun is that you can purchase a Chipper Fox from the author's website which makes this a even more fun and fabulous gift this holiday season. I've already ordered quite a few more of this heartwarming books for gifts this year!

I was granted complimentary PDF access to Chipper Makes Merry as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with iRead Book Tours. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Chipper Makes Merry is the story of an arctic fox named Chipper who's trying to make mischief for good in order to help his friends on this cold, wintery day, but everything he does with the best of intentions goes comically wrong!

The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is sweet. Kids will definitely enjoy looking at these pages for a long time, and I can see this sweet story being somebody's cherished favourite childhood book. My only note in critique is that while the stylistic choice to print all of the text in waving lines like windswept now is a beautiful visual touch, it will make the story more difficult to read for readers with certain visual impairments or learning disabilities.

Overall it's a very cute book and I would definitely recommend it for parents and teachers looking for a cute wintery story about kindness.

Chipper the Fox sparks joy during the holiday season by helping friends who are in need. Each charmingly illustrated scene shows Chipper trying hard to help his friends, but not always accomplishing the tasks with perfect results. But Chipper won’t give up and learns a lovely lesson about caring and friendship.

Chipper Makes Merry is based on the author’s own holiday tradition of spreading cheer to those in need and coming together to celebrate the community spirit around the holidays before focusing on gifts. What a wonderful tradition to spread joy and kindness at this special time of year. The story reminds us that we don’t have to do big things or perfect things to make a difference in someone’s life.

Chipper Makes Merry is a wonderful story, beautifully illustrated with a thoughtful attention to details. It is a lovely opening for discussing the meaning of the holidays. Plus, it takes place in a crisp, wintry forest, setting the perfect tone for the holidays and the adventures for Chipper the Fox.

Chipper the fox tries to cheer up his friends during the long bleak winter by surreptitiously giving them gifts. Unfortunately, his good deeds go awry and the gifts get ruined. Chipper, however, doesn’t stay unchipper for long and goes to Plan B. He enlists the help of his friends to surprise another friend with a gift and this time everything goes according to plan. There are several lessons in this book: 1) It is better to give than receive. 2) When at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. 3) Sometimes it’s the little things you do that make a difference in someone’s life rather than the big expensive gift. The illustrations are great and really put you in the “Great White North” frame of mind. Especially for parents with a child named “Joseph”: There is a reference to “steamy cups of joe” which kids probably won’t understand, and hopefully won’t engender a cannibalistic interpretation. If you’re going to read this book to them, take out a cup of coffee first and explain the name.

Fun Children's Book For the Holiday Season. This cute little story follows Chipper the Fox as he tries to bring some cheer and happiness to his forest friends. While Chipper gets off to a rocky start with a couple of his gift ideas--his heart proves to be in the right place. Reminding me of the illustrations in Jan Brett stories with a bit of the Little Bear series charm, I found myself smiling at Chipper's story and rooting for a well-deserved happy ending.

Would I recommend Chipper Makes Merry by Kimber Fox Morgan? This is a fun story for young readers to read alone or share as a family or class. Readers will be treated with quick, easy to read pages and lovely illustrations--and a positive story. It reminds us a bit of the true nature of giving and kindness. It is the perfect read for the holiday season.

Children are invited to follow along with Chipper the Fox as he tries to cheer up his friends. All of his friends are having a bad winter and Chipper tries but fails. Eventually, they come together and make each other happy.

I love that this sweet children's picture book is all about being kind to everyone. It shows children that you can do that by yourself or have the help of friends. The end (tiny spoiler) encourages kids to be just like them and be kind too.

The story was written poetically and repetitive enough for young children to enjoy along with the wonderful illustrations. The illustrations are bold and show the movement of the animals which pairs perfectly with the poetry.

Great first book from this author. Don't believe me? The author won "Mom's Choice Award" for 2021.

Chipper has it on his heart to make his sad friends happy. But he’s a little disappointed with his first two attempts when things don’t work out as he’d hoped. He makes a plan and decides to give it one more try.

This book offers just the right kind of story for the holiday season. The writing flows, the word count is short, and the text is simple, with just the right amount of repetitive wordplay, which little ones will love.

The illustrations complement the story beautifully. And the messages that are tucked into this little story make it perfect for opening up conversations with little ones.

Chipper Fox is filled with cheer. Winter has come to Artic Land and he knows that some of his friends are having a bad time. He wants to sneak up and leave them surprises that will cheer them up. Gus the walrus is having a hard time getting fish to eat, so Chipper leaves a bucket of fish at his door. Then, he leaves wood stacked at another friends home. Things don’t go as planned when Gus knocks over the fish and Scout’s wood pile crashes down. Chipper really wanted to help and surprise his friends so he whispers a plan to them. What will happen next? Will Chipper finally succeed in his merriment?

Children will love this charming tale with wonderful illustrations.

To start off I absolutely adored the detail on the illustrations it was the little things that stood out to me like the carving in the tree. Which was the author and her partner. This was adorable.

I felt really sorry for gus and all of the other characters it pulled on my heart strings so much. But never fear because Chipper is always out to save the day. It was really cute the clumsy element to the story line. I loved how in each little section there’s the same rhyme so children can get sucked into the book and read along with their parents.

It was wonderful how all the animals come together to help each other out. The fun they all have together put a huge smile on my face. It’s always so important to show those close to you that you care. So the message built into this was beautiful.

Chipper Makes Merry is a sweet holiday book for children that emphasizes how Chipper the Fox wants to make his friends happier. Isn’t that part of the holiday spirit? Spreading joy and happiness?

Chipper engages several of his forest friends who are feeling rather sad or experiencing difficult times throughout the winter. Will Chipper be able to bring joy to his weary friends, Gus, Scout, and Marta, even though things aren’t going so smoothly?

This story is fun, with lilting rhymes and wintery illustrations of Chipper and his woodland friends. It’s fun to read, and the message of showing people you care is priceless.

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Chipper is a fox who lives in Arctic Land and wants to bring happiness to his friends by surprising them with gifts. He tries to be sneaky but that doesn’t work! His friends are still appreciative, and they all end up having a fun day.

This is a great book for young children during the holidays or any time of year. There are only a few words on each page but the text still rhymes. There are beautiful illustrations on every page just like the one on the front cover. Illustrations are by Kim Sponaugle.

I definitely recommend Chipper Makes Merry for children. It’s not only a good story but it encourages children to be nice to others.

Chipper Makes Merry is written by by Kimber Fox Morgan. This is a Children's Picture book that is geared toward children who are 3-7 years old. I read this children who are 8 and 10, and we enjoyed this book. This book is a perfect holiday gift/stocking stuffer idea. Chipper hates seeing others sad, so he wants to spread cheer to the other woodland creatures. However, it does not always go as planned, but Chipper does not give up. Chipper does not lose his big heart or kindness, I love the lesson that it shows here.
The pictures are fitting to the story and are done beautifully. The author did a wonderful job. This will be a book that I will pass on to my grand-daughter that is 6 years old.

It's particularly cold this winter, but Chipper the arctic fox decides to make some mischief—the generous kind! He brings food and warmth, but all his gifts seem to end in disaster. Chipper doesn't give up hope, however, and together the animals find a way to beat the winter blues.

I love the illustrations in this book. So cozy! The rhymes are a bit forced, and the grammar struggled occasionally, but my biggest problem was with the sudden call to action at the end, which felt totally unnecessary. This is a sweet story, though, and while I might skip the last page, it's a great book to bring out on a snow day.

“I’ll spread some cheer,” said Chipper Fox, “to help my weary friends.”

In this story, we follow Chipper Fox as he tries to bring some merry cheer to his animal friends. He is the foxy Santa Clause in this wonderous tale. Readers will be delighted with his funny antics and blundering faux paus.

The book was filled with lovely and vibrant illustrations with the text flowing freely like floating water. It was very engaging and fun! The rhymes are something you’ll just love.

CHIPPER MAKES MERRY by Kimber Fox Morgan is a children's holiday story line focusing on Chipper the Fox as he aids his woodland friends, friends who each endure a personal struggle but Chipper's help goes awry with each caring act such that in the end all the creatures gather together to help our story line hero.

CHIPPER MAKES MERRY is a quick read; a short holiday story told in ABCB rhyme scheme with colorful images and 'flowing' text that 'glides' throughout the story book. A cute read about kindness to others in the face of adversity and struggle.

Chipper Makes Merry is a delightful children's book perfect for the Christmas/winter holiday. The illustrations are wonderful and really bring the story to life. It's an easy-to-read book for children, and they will enjoy every page.
The book follows Chipper the Fox as he tries to bring some happiness and cheer to his forest friends. Unfortunately for Chipper, things don't go as planned. What's a poor fox to do?
I loved this story. I'm a huge fan of foxes in general (favorite animal), so this story, while not marketed to my age range, made me so happy. Plus, it's something I can read to my six-year-old kiddo, and we can enjoy it together.
