Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this new commentary series, projected to be 48 volumes, takes a Christ- centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books. Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition. Projected contributors to the series include notable authors such as Russell D. Moore, Al Mohler, Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, Mark Dever, and others.
This commentary was such a helpful companion for my deep dive through Psalms 1–50. I loved how it went beyond surface-level explanations and really unpacked the meaning behind each psalm, the heart of the psalmist, the context it was written in, and how it all ultimately points back to Jesus and connects to the New Testament.
I know all of Scripture is connected, but I always appreciate when a study resource lays those connections out clearly because it helps everything click into place for me in a much deeper way. The book of Psalms can feel intimidating at times with how layered and poetic it is, but this commentary made it feel approachable while still keeping the richness and depth of God’s Word intact.
What I appreciated most was how faith-driven it felt. It wasn’t just informative; it genuinely encouraged me spiritually and helped me engage with Scripture more intentionally. I’m definitely excited to pick up the other volumes and continue through the rest of Psalms. If Psalms has ever felt overwhelming to you, I highly recommend this commentary.
I found this series to be an excellent resource in my study of Psalms. The commentators were easy to read and I liked how they always pointed to Jesus.
