The Thirteenth Paladin and his companions are finally reunited with each other and have found a worthy ally in the Eternal Empress – another Paladin who will take part in the war against the Adversary. But the effects of Ahren’s journey through the empire have left their mark on him. And so, they all set off to Thousand Halls, the original home of the dwarfs, in the hope of finding the mysterious Father of the Mountain who will surely help Ahren in his recovery. If all goes to plan, the nations of Jorath will at last unite and build an alliance against the ever-growing Pall Cloud. Yet Ahren and his companions have underestimated the enemy, for the Dark god has long since prepared a trap, which is only waiting to snap shut on the unsuspecting travellers…
I was born in Krefeld, Germany in 1976 and still live there under the caring eyes of my wife and two Norwegian Forest cats. Originally a publishing salesman, I couldn't resist the lure of writing, and after over a dozen years of playing the gamemaster in pen-and-paper groups, not to mention reading hundreds of fantasy novels, I decided to finally try to write a story myself that I thought might be worth telling. And so my novel Ahren was published in Germany, the first in the best-selling series The 13th Paladin.
When I am not creating new worlds and stories, I like to relax by playing pen-and-paper and story rich video games, reading or binging on TV series. I also practise Jiu Jitsu and the art of handling ancient Japanese weapons like the Katana or the Bo Staff.
Ich habe das Gefühl, dass in diesem Teil nichts besonders viel allzu Besonderes passiert ist. Aber ich mochte alles bei den Zwergen und bin gut durchgekommen. Freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.
Favorite book in the series! I loved this book. I can’t described how it made me feel it was amazing. This book was definitely one that I would read again. It also is super entertaining and funny I love all the characters especially the wolf, he was great because he made the story more fun and was one of my favorite characters. There were a bunch of times where something would happen and I would go “ohhhh that makes so much sense” and I really enjoy when a story makes me do that.
I am an old woman who loves getting lost in a story, especially one I can follow for multiple episodes. I don't need a lot of twists and turns. The obstacles placed in the heroes path are intelligent, interesting and whose outcome isn't always predictable. The characters, both women and men, are strong and independent.
After Quin-Wa finishes proclaiming her edicts of changes to the kingdom, declaring war on ‘He-Who-Changes’ and making Khara her princess successor, she travels with the Paladins and companions to the dwarf realm of the Thousand Halls mountains to arbitrate peace with the Sunplains. Ahren and his companions travel with her to help and so that Ahren can visit the Father of the Mountains hoping he can help him regain his former memory and confidence.
I love this for not only for the insights into the dwarf way of life but also the romantic situations (finally). And the Father of the Mountain is so cool.
Fave scenes: Quinn-Wa reprimanding Muai at the Empress Tree, Corin’s cave stalemate solution, sneaking up to see the stone tablet and opening the cave system.
First things first there’s nothing to dislike I love the world building the relationship interplays the progression of the (various) stories within the series. Sometimes… occasionally… it feels contrived (I’m looking at you Justinian) but other times I can look back and see the breadcrumbs with hindsight and go…. Ohhhh I should’ve seen that coming!
I honestly don’t want to get to the end of a book because it means I’m another step closer to the end but I cannot put them down.
If this is your kind of genre or even if it isn’t but you like to watch multiple characters and their relationships develop and feel completely immersed in theirs stories then this is for you.
The story continues to evolve and Torsten continues to captivate me. He truly made Thousand Halls come to life! I can see the layout of the mountains and I could actually feel the impact of the Thunder Coach on the impact plates. I can't wait to see what the Forest of Ire holds for our heroes!!
With surprises and twist you typically don't see one is wrapped in world's of what we call mythological creatures and humans and there great friendships and travel of war against all odds this small group of misfits travelers try concurring the darkness of the world. I can't wait for the next book.
This wonderful series gains pace, here is the long awaited visit to the Thousand Halls, it surely doesn't disappoint. The dwarves world is heroically and imaginatively created before us as Ahren et al make their chaotic way through the awe inspiring dwarves homeland.. possibly my favourite yet. More please!
I began reading this series with book one. They are on their way to the dwarf. I really like the easy to read adventures and different characters. They all have their own personalities. I find myself enjoying these characters in their journey.
This seies reminds me of the old time radio series. The narration is superb. The main characters have their flaws, but their personality are believable and endearing. The protagonist, aka the Adversary, has many tricky abilities that keep Ahren on his toes. I do hope it comes to a conclusion though in book 13.
Finally a book series that lives up to the genre - Epic Fantasy. Torsten Weitze weaves a beautifully detailed tale of good vs evil with novel interpretations of the beloved character set (humans, elves, dwarves, dark elves…etc). The magic users are complimentary instead of the dominant story line. Very refreshing read!
I absolutely love this series! I have read every book within days they are released. I just can’t stop reading until they are finished! Great character development, action, and story line! I can’t wait to see what happens next
I absolutely love this series. Not only is it full of action but there are also great insights into the emotions and motivations of the characyers. Hurry up and write the next one!
The Paladins struggles continue while the hero is trying to recover from previous adventures. The evil deploys the battle swarm against the home of the dwarfs.
Really enjoying this series, don't want it to end. Only 2 books left in the series. How is he going to wrap this magnificent series up in only 2 more books? Looking forward to finding out.
Once again the great job with character development, consistency of storyline, Plot twists and action. I look forward to accompanying the intrepid group into the Forest of Ire.
Ich liebe diese Welt, einfach großartig diese Reihe. Zwischendurch hat mich nur der Zustand von Ahren etwas gereizt aber es wurde im Laufe des Buches besser. Und können wir mal über den Vater des Berges reden? Hammer! Hätte ich nie erwartet. Freue mich auf die kommenden Bücher!
Weitze continues Ahren’s saga with unexpected twists and turns around every chapter. This book in particular had me reading late into the night to find out what would happen next. Wonderful characters with depth and humor.
I can't stress enough how amazing this series is. It has everything. Paladens, soul animals, dwarfs and elves . The battle scenes are so well written they have you on pins and needles. Can the 13 Paladen make the difference in saving the world?
Characters are so engaging I was fully immersed. Each character was fully developed and story line deeply engaging. One of my absolute favorite reads. And I read a lot…
There is no lack of creative and original storylines and situations in this 8th book in the series. Many surprises and new sub-plots continue to make this an enjoyable and riveting series. Kudos to the author!
Not only an excellent book, but also a great series of books from start to finish. hope this prompts others to take the time to actually read this book! I do not believe that anyone reading this will be disappointed!
I have found these volumes purely gratifying, they go from one quandary to several others. I just couldn't resist in following every journey, and battle they find themselves with hoping they've survived.
This fantasy series had me hooked after the first chapter in the first book.. I tried it since it was free and couldn’t believe I had never picked it up before.. don’t wait to read this you won’t be able to put them down
