I should have dnf'ed this book the moment the heroine started shaking vigorously a person who had just suffered a motorcycle crash. 😭😂 It was the 4th or the 5th page and even if I realized it was my perfect cue to leave, I didn't take a leave. The joke is on me, because now I look stupid complaining about the obtusity of a dark reverse harem book set in college:D

The story was basically a rape-fest, rape being used as a revenge tool, organised by the the heroine's shining new stepbrothers for reasons less than comprehensible, to put it mildly, and more than absolutely fucking dumb and gross, to put it realistically.

I love bullying in books, I have a soft spot for dark romance genre and I have been missing desperately another trashy reverse harem series - Lords of Pain (that's what the long waiting for the third book release is doing to me😭). 🤡 I guess that's the only justification I can provide for choosing this particular story to poke my nose into.

There are quite a few similarities between the series, on which I won't dwell though because analysing and comparing stupid reverse harem books is the last thing I'm willing to waste my time on right now, but The Royals of Forsyth University is marginally better than Cruel Kings (so if you gave the Lords one star... R. I. P.). Both series are absurd, but the latter makes absolutely zero sense: the characters' reactions, dialogues and incentives. And as always, I'm being deliberately tactful describing the extent of its trashiness. Unentertaining kind of trashiness.

The characters are very one-dimensional and strictly limited to some basic characteristics. The older brother is too dumb to live and I simply cannot understand how the guy managed to enter the college, taking into account his absolute inability to make use of his last shred of intellect. If you hated Killian in The Lords of Pain, you will abhor Noah, since he has done the impossible: outmatched Killian's stupidity. He is rumoured to have been obsessed with this girl for more than 4 years, but does it actually show? He acted overly aggressive and abusive, not only raping the heroine, but also pushing her so hard that she had to be taken to hospital and bullying her to a point she almost got gang-raped. 😅👌🏻

The twins looked so inexplicably good in comparison to their older brother. But don't get your hopes high, those guys raped her a few times too. I mean... 👀 At least, they seemed to care about her, didn't condone the bullying unleashed by their brother and kept rescuing and protecting this damsel-in-distress like it was a paid job or an Olympic sports.

Regardless, what the actual fuck? 👀😅 In Lords of Pain, the heroine realizes that what she goes through is all kinds of bat shit crazy, but this girl over here takes everything in her stride and purrs like a cat when one of them shows her a sliver of affection. 🤡

Interestingly, the older guys in both series have a fetish for jerking off and fucking unconscious girls, so you might find the wannabe Killian's, from The Lords Of Pain, version in Noah... Killian is already a wannabe psycho boy, so we might all as well agree on the fact that Noah is a wannabe boy in a square:DDDD Or a Killian's wannabe successor without some of his adorable characteristics. 🤡 WHATEVER THAT MEANS.

The guys act like a bunch of juvenile rapists whose raging hormones have outpaced their brains' development and taken over their bodies.
I'VE NEVER COME ACROSS SUCH FEEBLE-MINDED CHARACTERS IN MY WHOLE LIFE.

And that comes from a person who has read the insane number of bullying romance books. Which is an equivalent to a person who has read the insane number of books with imbecile protagonists and incoherent plots.

I'm truly embarassed I've read this story, it feels like my IQ dropped tremendously the moment when I decided to finish it no matter the consequences for my brain cells. 🤡😂

DNF @ 33% - wow. This was not good. I like RH and I like bully, college, noncon/dubcon… and this book has all that but the execution is crazy cringe. The college and grad student MCs (all over 21 years) act like they are in jr high school. Their dialogue and thoughts are completely ridiculous. None of it made any dang sense. I thought maybe someone was spoofing the genre… but sadly this was not satire. 👀😬😱😵‍💫🥴 The sex was unsexy. Grown men acting like irrational whiny pathetic man babies. Giving it 1 - star because the writing was undeniably terrible.

I want to love this so much because the beginning of the book its looks so fun and romantic. And then it didn’t... it just makes me want to punch the heroes especially the one who called Noah.... but even though the rest of the book made me annoyed like 60% but the rest made me curious of what’s going to happen in the second book.

I hope it will be much better than this one🙏🏻

‼️‼️‼️College romance.

‼️‼️‼️DARK RH but for me this one is not too dark. I get the whole “Reverse Harem” because some said its between 3 or 4 people in a relationship like this one is one girl with three guys, but i just don’t like it when the guys can go flirting with anyone but they won’t let the heroine even sit or talk to any male. For me thats not fair. I even read some RH romance says that “they don’t each other” but why the heroes on this book didn’t get the memo? Anyway if I’m misunderstanding something about RH please let me know nicely (because some of you strangers can be mean with no reason when I’m being nice😂)

‼️‼️‼️The heroes like one of the heroes name noah said that he’s been obsessed with the heroine the most and really stalk her... but in those years or times of him being obsessed with her, before start to talk to her and want to get close to her, he is with some girl... idk for me when i read romance about a guy claiming he is obsessed with the heroine but at the time have s*x with another woman is just not right for me. I don’t like heroes like that at all... for me those heroes are cowards and i have seen plenty of guys like that in my real life too so yeah I don’t like it. Heroes like that made me sick to my stomach. Meanwhile the other two heroes are like that too, they say they like the heroine because of noah but at the same time are manwh*re.

‼️‼️‼️TRIGGER: Rape, And almost rape, Death, Sickness, Bullying, Blackmailing, Violence, Verbally Abusive and sadness that made me want to really help the heroine like jump to the book and help her.

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROES ARE OTT POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE CHILDISH ALPHA MALE.

‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HEROES AND LITTLE FROM THE HEROINE LIKE VERY LITTLE.

“I NEED TO TAKE THIS CALL, SHE SAID.”
“CHECK WHO SHE’S TALKING TO.”
And this is even before they were in a weird toxic relationship (for me their relationship is weird and toxic) i guess i find it funny that the heroes are so curious who’s the heroine is talking to like all of sudden so jealous🤣

“DON’T TOUCH HER.”

“DON’T LET ANOTHER GUY TOUCH YOU LIKE THAT.”

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN.

‼️‼️‼️WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK:

1. I don’t like it when the two heroes (not noah) said to the other woman in front of the heroine “We’re not interested tonight.” Like tonight??? It made me like okay so just for tonight and how about tomorrow when you see her again?? You go to her when the heroine is not around? 🥵
2. The first time they have sex with the heroine, they rape her 😢😢😢😣😣😣 damn even writing this just made me sick because its true. No romance, no gentle to the heroine and its her first time... they do it because they were horny and also they were mad at the heroine because that was the first time they all know that they’re going to be step siblings. They thought the heroine lied to them so they did that to her... i even skip the part like I didn’t read most of them having sex the first time because of how unfair for the heroine. “We broke her today and stole her innocence.”
3. Noah who is one of the heroes, idk for me his obsession with somethings is just really toxic. The way he said that “I’d always been turned on by women who couldn’t see me, who couldn’t talk back, fight, or struggle when I was inside them.” So he have sex with the heroine while she was unconscious with the pills he made her take, he didn’t clean her up afterwards, he just left her there in the bed with his semen on her belly.
4. They have sex with her didn’t fcking used a condom. Like seriously? All three of them are known to be a manwhor3 and they didn’t use protection to the heroine. The heroine didn’t say if she’s in a pill either. They didn’t say if they are celibate or what like thats just so not right😣
5. I don’t like it all when the hero push the heroine to hard, she hit the wall and her head bleed so much. The hero who name noah did that and he called his other twin to say about the heroine, the twin didn’t even sound worry for the heroine. They sound so chill and just not worried at all. Like seriously? She hit a wall with her head for fck sake! It made me think that only one of the hero is obsessed with the heroine but he is so wrong for her, but the two other heroes just like her but not really in love or obsessed with her. So fcking damn confusing....
6. They manipulate, bully and use her so much in a wrong way it made me want to puke. I get it that they do that because they thought her mother was a liar who steal their father and they are being childish and jealous with their father being so nice to the heroine. But seriously using her like that? 😢
7. After the hero name noah humiliates her soooo publicly, she got hate and bullies SOOO MUCH FROM ANYONE IN HER CAMPUS AND WORK PLACE. They harass her, talk shit to her, make fun of her, like all those crazy bad wrong things... like even her hands got burned out because of the bullies... Did the heroes find out about it or care to ask the heroine in those times where she was going through all of that? NOOO... NOAH HAVE THE NERVE TO ASK THE HEROINE WHO DID IT TO HER AFTER FEW WEEKS LATER😂😂😂 AND AFTERWARDS DIDN’T EVEN GO AFTER THOSE PEOPLE😂😂😂 LIKE OTHERS SMART HEROES WILL SURELY FIND OUT AND FIGHT FOR THE HEROINE. THIS ONE? NOOO... THE OTHER HEROES? THEY DID HELP THE HEROINE AFTER WEEKS LATER...
8. The hero noah knows that after he humiliated her so publicly it will go viral and it will ruin her, did he help her? When he for sure obviously see what happened to her, HE DID NOT HELP HER. Because he have so much hatred in him about the heroine that is false and so childish stupid of him.
9. Noah is just disgusting human being. After he publicly humiliate her, watch her as she suffer, he have the nerve to kissed her after seeing her few weeks later. He didn’t even say sorry or think what he did in those times like are you for real🤣

(If you are wondering why the heroine is weak by okay with the heroes doing that to her? She have her reason. Her reason is a legit one and I truly understand and respect her decision to not fight at the time. You will understand when you read it though...)

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING. At least I didn’t see cheating😂 who knows behind closed doors because they weren’t always together, they don’t call or texts each other like they were in this weird toxic relationship. But I’m glad that I don’t see the heroes touching or grab some woman in front of the heroine. Other RH books do that so I’m glad this one doesn’t. They did talk to other woman but I don’t see they are cheating or doing inappropriate things to other females...

‼️‼️‼️HOT SMUT SCENES. But because of the first smut scenes made me kinda uncomfortable, the rest of the smut scenes just not feel right. Idk for me i feel not too attached when i read the times they were having sex... for me though...

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS DRAMA WITH OM AND OW but not too annoying or too much. Other drama is about themself and mostly family drama...

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A STRONG but not my fave one. She hate the heroes but at the same time she wants them😂 I want her to be strong enough to tell them whats right and whats wrong with them but sometimes because she’s too nice and too naive she just go with the flow with them😆

‼️‼️‼️DID THE HEROES FEEL GUILTY AFTERWARDS? YES. “MY CHEST HURT. I COULDN’T BELIEVE HOW MUCH WE MADE HER SUFFER THESE PAST MONTHS.”

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS 22 YEARS OLD. Idk about the heroes but maybe they are older like one year of few months than the heroine because one of the hero is in the same class with her...

‼️‼️‼️THE END OF THE BOOK IS A CLIFFHANGER AND A HUGE ONE.

Overall this book is interesting. I didn’t say I don’t like the book even though there was scenes that I don’t like it. The book is interesting because their drama made me want to read more about it and how the second book is going to be like😂 And this book is not boring at all...

If the second book will be like the heroine killing one of the heroes or even worst, I won’t be surprised😂 The heroes deserve a big giant revenge that they deserve… three of them are wrong, so wrong. And i will make sure i will be reading it 😆 I can’t wait to see whats going to happen to them😂 hopefully they (the heroes) got what they deserve for what the did to sweet heroine….

🌐🌐🌐➡️↘️⬇️➡️This is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open minded😙 I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guys😙😙 I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view 😙😙 am i right? 💕 also there are people even though i already write “this book is different because i have my own taste of book” those people still comment my taste is this and that when HELLO… everybody have their own thoughts on books and what they want to read… why i read it then? I read it and give it a review because i have to read a book to give it a review… why not read the description book to understand before I’m going to read it? Hello just in case you haven’t notice, description books can be tricky because they write this amazing things about a book but turns out the story is so toxic. Maybe for me its toxic but not for you? YES HELLO THATS WHY US HUMAN BEING HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES, WHAT I LIKE IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU WILL LIKE IT AND EITHER WAY TOO. why i still write the review then if i just don’t like a book? Because I CAN and i want to, you cannot tell me what to do and not what to do🤪 if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book after all of what i just write, i will never acknowledge you and simply ignore you because its not that hard🙏 YES MY GRAMMAR IS BAD SOMETIMES AND MAYBE ALL THE TIME BUT LUCKILY MANY PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I’M SAYING🤪 ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️⤴️

4 steamy alphahole stars

Camilla “Milla” witnesses the motorcycle accident of popular college student and society elite Corey. After calling 911, she meet his brothers: Caleb, his identical twin and Noah, the “oldest” brother of their triple, all of whom are attracted to her. Broody Noah has been secretly wild about Milla for four years but none of them ever approached her. (Not sure why). The guys begin to show their interest until Milla’s mother, Eva, their father, Brian, marry impromptu, and the brothers decide that both Milla and Eva are gold diggers after their father’s fortune, and commence to bullying and making Milla pay. But there is more to Eva and the marriage as well as Milla’s love for her mother than the guys realize. There is also rivalry between member of the elite that plays a subplot.

Milla is sweet, studious, and self-reliant and about to finish her senior year. She and her mother are very close as her mother made sacrifices to raise with an absentee father. Frumpy yet attractive, she gets along with everyone but is pretty much invisible until she catches the attention of the triples. From flattering attention to torment, stepbrothers Corey, Caleb, and Noah dish it out. From the more lighthearted, Corey, to the most detached and perverse, Noah, they are possessive and relentless.

Some delicious dark themes set my heart aflutter. I couldn’t get enough of the spiciness of this tale. It also contained traditional bully romance themes.

Some cool side characters mingled with those likable and those who were not so much.

A few areas where I had to really suspense belief, didn’t work, or needed explanation — pulling a 200 pound body from beneath a heavy weight motorcycle, hospital scenes and medical practice inaccuracies, the rivalry subplot that didn’t play out, what happened with the heroes’ mother and why the caustic relationship with their father, character disconnectedness. From the writing, it was hard to distinguish Corey from Caleb as characters though Noah portrayed his unique personality. Also, why did these popular, confident guys not ever seek Milla out?

Still, excellent pace and no extraneous, over descriptive prose or filler, my interest was always piqued. The darkness of getting back at Mills combined with the hot twins / triplets Corey, Casey, Noah, this story was spicy, overwhelming attraction, and foreshadowing of betrayal that had me hooked until the shocking end. Book 2 can’t come soon enough.

Speechless

I don't even know what to say or where to begin with my thoughts on this. I am truly gutted right now but I need to know how this turns out. I read alot of bully books and still somehow manage to fall in love with the guy. This book however I'm not sure how that it going to happen. I can't see a way it could. Wow!

Wow! This book gave me emotional whiplash. Cruel Kings definitely lives up to its name.

Mila is so freaking strong. She gives everything to protect her mother and she’s tormented for it. My heart hurt for Mila, through the course of this book. I can’t wait to see how the guys come back from the Hell they put her through. Well done Ivy Clyde!

18+ definitely recommended due to scenes with non con, dub con and violence.

This was rough. Milla finds herself the savior of one of the most popular boys at her college. Then she finds herself the center of him and his brothers obsession. At first it's affectionate and sensual but then when they all find out her mother has married their father it turns cruel and abusive.
Noah , Caleb , Corey all physically attack her and because of devastating news from her mother she allows it to continue as not to upset her mother.
That ending was devastating and left you wanting more. Over the course of the book you kinda fall for Caleb and Cory, but Noah is just unforgivable so I'm interested to see if that can be changed in book two.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Multiple

Cliffhanger : Yes

Hero : Noah , Caleb , Corey

Heroine : Milla

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 7/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : Non Con , Dub Con , Bullying , Humiliation , Physical Violence (1 scene , accidental)

Plot Summary :
Noah, Caleb and Corey are the Kings of their school. That is, someone tries to hurt one of them and an angel saves her. the same girl who has had Noah's eyes for a while. Milla is everything sweet they could want but never have. That is until they come to know that she is the reason for their suffering. The only thing they know now is that they are going to break her. they are going to break her in ways she might never recover from.

Overall Opinion :
I have been searching for my next fix of very dark RH romance and this book was it! There are so few books where the heroine actually makes the Heroes pay for what they did to her but this one had that and that one thing made this book a favorite read of mine. This book had many Triggers such as rape and humiliation but it's so good. I found it so tough to forgive the heroes, especially Noah because that man's hate never knew any bounds. That is until he went too far and broke Milla completely. But now he will suffer the wrath of a broken girl. And from what I saw in the ending of this book, all three of them have a lot of suffering in their future for what they put her through.

There were parts of this book that seemed a bit irrational to me and the book was a bit less smooth for some scenes, but on an overall basis, it was pretty good. All it lacks is a better finishing. Definitely recommending this book to all the dark romance loving people out there! I can't wait for the next book of the duet because this one just drove me crazy!

this is a pretty fucked up "romance", I still read it and I liked it I'm not sure how I feel about it. 😔

I thought it could be better written at times but for the most part, my attention was captured.

the premise is that there are triplets, only two of them are identical twins (Caleb and Corey) and the non-identical one (noah). they are obsessed with Camilla or milla our h.

They pretty much force her into a non-con situation b/c they assume her mom who is their new stepmother is a golddigger. Even though all evidence shows otherwise. Like Noah is supposedly the highest-ranked student at their university.... 🤡

I didn't find the heroine to be weak, she was placed in a tough situation and she had conflicted feelings about the brothers especially when they showed her kindness which was sad to see in the book.

I have to move any realistic thoughts about consent and rape from my mind while reading this b/c what's presented in this book is absolutely not realistic - those trigger warnings should be noted louder as this is a piece of fantasy about rape.

Don't get me started on Noah - he's a psycho and he's dumber than a bag of rocks. Like he does stupid stuff that goes against his persona as a calculating person. like who humiliates your step-sister who you secretly love, if wolves are at the door for your company? That just means they now have a target. Like he was missing something....

I'm not sure if the ending is stupidly smart or just stupid..... - why would you share a video of yourself having sex with two brothers and then send it to your entire list of contacts? Especially the brothers you liked to get back at the brother you didn't like......🤯

Sadly, I will be reading the next book in this series b/c I want to know what kind of fucked up stuff is going on with milla b/c I want to know who really sent that video out. But march 22 lolz, this isn't game of thrones Idk if i'll still be interested by then. 😇

Cruel Kings was another one of those stories where I end up questioning myself how/why do I read stories like these. Even if there are warnings that it's a dark bully, there are degrees of how bad things are and I guess one won't know how bad it is until giving it a shot.

Aside from the reprieve early on, what Camilla endures from the brothers is horrific. I honestly hope they all end up dead. There's no way I can see redemption in any of them, but inconceivably, Camilla must think differently for two of them, at least at one point. Which is my biggest issue with this story. She's a great character as she is aware of why she's having to endure what the brothers do, a great friend and thoughtful to her mom and stepfather. However, it makes no sense why she can even remotely tolerate the brothers after what they did.

My other gripe was some of the dialogue of the brothers. They just made the dumbest comments and it made them sound so immature when they are supposedly finishing college, not high school. Not very endearing.

The story does end on cliffhanger, but knowing that she'll likely end up with the guys doesn't make me want to continue.

I fell in love with Milla. This girl is the strongest character in the entire book. She endures more than anyone else, all to protect the person she loves most. You can say she's weak or doesn't have a backbone, but it takes more strength to survive what she does silently than anything else. There are truly reprehensible men in this book. Our harem members are not good guys. They have a lot of bad behavior to answer for. This isn't just burnt bridges. This is scorched earth and whole towns on fire. Noah seems irredeemable, but thankfully, Caleb and Corey haven't taken this twisted game as far. The climax hit me like a crashing wave, dragging me under. I never would have guessed this was the route it was going to take, yet now I recognize it for the perfection it is. I can't wait to see what happens next after that ending...

I only read the first 40 percent of this book and skimmed the rest, but I'm counting it as read anyway as payment for having to deal with the absolute disgusting shit that was in this book. I don't even care about the stepbrother thing or the blackmail or bullying--that's all pretty par for the course in dark romances. However, they fucking gangraped her in the first couple chapters of the book, and I'm expected to believe that they'll fall in love after this. Absolutely not. Absolutely disgusting.

Are there limits...

Giving this book 5 stars is definitely messing with me. I love Milla and what she was standing for. I hated Caleb and Corey but then the table started to turn. Noah can die off and I'd never shed a tear. I wish Wyatt was part of the harem instead of Noah.

I also feel like so much more is possible here. Something with Milla and the brothers is not right. Someone's parents are lying.

I know it's in the TW, but I don't see how Noah could ever come back from this.

When a book makes you ball your eyes out for a solid 30 minutes, you know the author is a genius. This story dragged me in from the very first page, it was full of cruel bullying, lots of abuse with controlling anti-heroes.

I’m so excited for the next instalment and hope Milla finally gets her revenge on Noah, he deserves it.

5 Golden stars 🌟- be prepared for triggers and lots of tears!

The low rating isn’t due to the content. I love a good dark and I mean DARK romance.

The dialogue was childish and unbelievably awkward, the characters were not done well and their interactions towards each other were ridiculous and the writing left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, this was poorly executed.

Great story!

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely a dark romance so if you have triggers advance with caution. If not dive in because you’re in for one heck of a crazy ride. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I hope Milla makes them beg and grovel to make up for everything.

The title of the book says it all. These kings are definitely cruel. Sometimes I am able to see the other side to some of the reasons for bullying in books like these. But this one? Daddy issues and jealousy play a huge part in it and it wrecked me to see everything that the main male characters, Noah, Corey, and Caleb did to the fmc, Milla. Now, this does not mean that I did not thoroughly enjoy this read, because I did. I think that dark books like this always bring a rollercoaster of emotions to the reader, practically dragging different reactions out of them and that is how I want a book to affect me.

With this being a dark romance, and I know sometimes people tend to have different views on how dark is too dark, please read the warning blurb from the author before reading. She mentions that you might find some things that the men in this book do to Milla to be unforgivable, and I can agree with that. There are several types of triggering situations and issues throughout the book such a rape, abuse, severe bullying, and mental health. I know some may have hard limits on what they expect from the harem, so keep that in mind as well and take care of yourself if you think any of the things mentioned would trigger you in any way.

Now that that is covered, I'd like to mention how amazing of a character I think Milla is. I know that some people do not care for fmcs who come off as weak or shy, preferring a strong and snarky fmc, but Milla is impossible to not fall in love with. She is so incredibly sweet and naive with a heart of gold that beats for those she cares for. What she lacks in physical strength she has in spades with her inner strength and ability to take everything thrown at her without showing how much it affects her. It's always those who can smile at will who are the most broken inside. Milla never allows the pain she is suffering to show on the surface. Coping mechanism or not, it's a true show of how much her love for others drives her to stay strong, if not for herself then for them.

The men in this book, well, they for sure have some layers to them. I'll give them that. I have a feeling that many people will find themselves liking them in certain moments and hating them for a good portion of the rest of the book. They are so easy to flip a switch in their actions and mannerisms making things very confusing for Milla. There are some sweet moments within all the horrible treatments, but it is still so hard to try and figure out how they will even redeem themselves as the series continues. Sure, I know it will happen, but boy, do they have a long way to go. What I'm really hoping to see is some actual groveling and repentance from these brothers in books to come. In so many books I see the fmc instantly forgiving the men for the things they did to her, but with everything Noah, Corey, and Caleb did? No. I need more from them. Rich kids in these kinds of books don't ever think they have repercussions when it comes to their actions. It's time they pay for their actions.

The ending of the book was heartbreaking yet so satisfying at the same time, showing just how done Milla was with everything she had experienced throughout the story so far. You can only take so much before you're at your wit's end, and when the only motivator you had is taken away, what happens next? I'm anxiously waiting to see what becomes of Milla in the next book. She is finally at a point where she is starting to show a backbone, and I'm here for it!

The couple: Noah/Casey/Caleb and Milla

Romance trope: rh; stepbrothers
Series: Amhurst Brothers
Length: 371 pages

Plot: Milla is a poor college student, content to stay in the background - until the day that the Amhurst brothers noticed her. They seemed to like her until they found out she was their new stepsister. Then they made it their mission to torture her for her family's sins. But in the end, they might be the ones in the wrong.

Commentary: So much ridiculousness:

Why didn't she just go to her new dad, Brian, who seems to know what kind of people his kids are, and tell him what the boys did and tell him not to involve her dying mother? And I don't mean that in a victim-blaming sort of way. I mean that in a her-decisions-make-no-sense sort of way. She just gave in and did the whole body-betraying syndrome. The fact that she would even entertain a relationship (or even just spend innocent time) with the twins when they are the ones who violently took her virginity in an act of rape is ridiculous.

What are colleges in England like (I never saw it stated explicitly, but it seemed like they were in GB)? I went to a medium-ish state university, and I have no idea who my class president even was, but Casey (Caleb?) was like, "call Noah, he's your class president, so you have his number." What? Can you imagine? Hundreds of people having his number calling him for whatever, whenever.

Milla kept saying "girls like me don't have the luxury to...." We get it, you're poor. Her mom's super-rich boyfriend could have helped (especially in light of what happens in the second book) but her mom wouldn't allow it?

Some weird things to even write:
*Noah said, "What a fox, I thought grudgingly, staring at my father." I cannot think of a 22-year-old boy looking at his father and thinking that.
*She said she could see his "glass-colored eyes." Think about that.
*There was a strangely extended description of popcorn. We've all had microwave popcorn before, so I'm not sure of the purpose of that interlude.

It definitely felt like the author had a list of tropes she wanted to use in order to get to the end of the story and I sometimes it felt like she was just checking those things off rather than telling a story. It was a very Wattpad feel, complete with stilted language.

Grammar/formatting: needed another pass with the proofreader

Next book in the series: Steel Queen

DNF @ 40% plus skim read the last few chapters. I don't typically rate DNF reads, but this would probably be a 2-star for me. The writing style didn't connect for me, everything felt flat including the characters. There's a lot that just feels... odd - like the reactions of the characters or their speech.

I specifically picked up this book based on the blurb, dark contemporary RH with bully is my jam, and I was totally aware of the TW and fine with them. Just the delivery didn't connect for me.

Main TW is for SA/noncon, noncon while she's sleeping, dubcon

It is late college age - FMC is 22 and nearing graduation. The guys seem to be her same age or close. One is in several of her classes.

The bullying, like so much of the book, felt odd. Both the switch for how it starts and that it's mostly taunts and the noncon for the parts I read. The guys go from obsessing over the FMC from afar to actually talking to her for the first time and being nice and a touch JP to flipping their switch to hate and punishment after learning that she's the daughter (22 yro) of the woman their dad just married, which the relationship is a total surprise to the boys (brothers). After giving the FMC cold, disinterested stares at awkward "meet the new combined family" brunch, the guys make it plain what they think of her and her mother (and get more in their POV)... But the whole thing feels weird, even with their reasons given. They have a strained relationship with their father and an obsessive one with this girl they are half in love with despite having never talked to her before and yet they choose to jump to conclusions about what the women infiltrating their family must be up to 🤔 To what end? Secure their inheritance? Getting in on their dad's business? And when faced with evidence contrary to what the guys believe, that's brushed aside cause they just don't want to think differently than they do 🤷 they don't wanna 🤷 Until something happens and they are faced with how wrong they are and have their "what have we done" moment.

This book does end on a cliffhanger and presumably the next book will be about the guys trying to win her over without coercion or force... Or maybe they'll just be sh*theads 🤷 idk I don't plan to find out

loved this!!!!

If noncon/dubcon ain’t your thing turn away now. You’ve been warned😈😈

The story: What happens when three jaded and suspicious brothers find out their rich father has gotten married out of the blue to a woman with a daughter their age? Well of course you assume they’re gold diggers and now they’ll make the daughter pay for her mother marring their father.
Milla (the daughter) just wants her mother to be happy but how much of her new stepbrothers can she take? And will it be to late for forgiveness when the guys finally open their eyes to see Milla for the kind of person she really is?

Loved this book so much. These guys really take their need for revenge to a dark place. Just when I thought they couldn’t be more cruel Noah(the oldest brother) just takes it farther. The whole time I was hoping she would get back at him and she does in a way at the end but now I want to know what’s going to happen next.
That’s right there’s a cliffhanger😭😭😭
How are the guys going to get her back? What are they going to have to do to get forgiveness? Will Milla gets some more revenge before everything is said and done? I NEED TO KNOW!!!!🤣🤣

Now again if your not into reading noncon don’t read this and then get all upset cause you read something you don’t agree with. But if you do like the noncon/dubcon the spiciness level is a definite 5/5🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Would definitely recommend to all of my dark romance lovers❤️‍🔥🖤❤️‍🔥🖤

Deliciously dark 🖤
If you’re after a dark RH read with plenty of triggers then this is the book for you!
Milla is a truly sweet naive FMC who wants nothing more than to get by in life and her geeky unassuming nature helps her blend!
She finds a connection with the Amhurst Brothers, there taken with her nature and surprised she wants nothing from them….until it all hits the fan when it turns out her mother has married their father 😳
Expecting her to be a gold digger and after their wealth they turn on her and boy do they turn 😡😡 this is where the TWs come into play….She’s belittled, humiliated, blackmailed and forced through numerous things!
Yet they fail to release there’s something real between their parents and nothing is AT ALL WHAT IT SEEMS!! 😣
Milla never ever breaks despite what Corey, Caleb and Noah do, although One is certainly far more irredeemable than the others 😰
The very end is truly heartbreaking, our MMC does something he can never come back from and Milla hits her breaking point, you cannot imagine what she’s going through 🥺
This is my first read of Ivy’s (I finished it in one sitting) and I truly cannot wait for more 😍

Let’s start with tropes that I noted from this book, they include but may not be limited to…

🔸RH
🔸Contemporary
🔸Dark
🔸Bully
🔸Somnophilia
🔸Stepbrothers
🔸Twins (actually triplets!)
🔸Multi POV
🔸College age characters (last year of college)

As mentioned above, this book has dark themes, definitely check the trigger warnings as the book contains non-con & dub-con between the main character and the love interests.
The warning is at the front of the book so if you ignore them then have issues when those themes pop up in the book, it’s on you.

Definitely recommend this one to fans of “Lords of Pain” by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue.

Where the main characters will be giving you emotional whiplash and wondering if they can truly ever redeem themselves, the side character relationships are so lovely and caring (when will I get to pull Wyatt’s beanie down over his face? 😩)

I love that relationship with the stepfather is a genuine and healthy father/daughter relationship which I feel like isn’t done very often in these books.

Glad that's over & was free

I read the entire book not knowing it was a cliffhanger. I'm not remotely interested in reading more. I love dark stories & characters you love to hate. But these guys are POS that deserve to be 6ft UNDER the jail. Since it doesn't happen I'm done.

I also like seeing the baddies get put in their place... so that's not happening. The deal here - the woman is cool with the rape stuff from of the guys but not the blackmail? And really that mom stuff - yeah - no amount of writing will make that ok. There's nothing I could read that would make me happy unless it was all 3 went to prison & was beaten to death in the showers.
