I have followed the VulgaDrawings Instagram account for a couple of years now and she perfectly highlights the female experience through her cartoons. This book contained a mixture of new work and some things previously seen on her page whilst following a narrative throughout. Very well written/drawn and highlights societal issues well.

Pretty basic feminism stuff with pictures of an orc or a lady laying on a couch.

I do take issue with one particular point in here, which is the argument against the idea that men are evolutionarily more attracted to women of child bearing age, therefore older men are often attracted to younger women.

The argument against in here is “we deny evolution all the time, we don’t just kill and whatever, so why not here as well?”

Seems dangerously close to arguments about attraction and sexuality being a choice, ie, “Being gay is a choice, just choose to not be gay.”

Also seems to put women who are attracted to older men in a box.

Also, I guess I just don’t think it’s a huge thing. I don’t get the whole thing personally, I think I’m officially too old to date someone who is super into TikTok, but if a woman is in her 20’s and a dude is in his 50’s…eh, just doesn’t light my fire.

Maybe because I’m of the opinion that dating choices in our mid to late 20’s are almost categorically bad, so that form of bad is bad, but not “that was my drug dealer dating phase” bad.

Or maybe because it’s gross to think about them getting it on, but I got news for you, I think imagining most people getting it on is kind of gross. I don’t really want to be seated across from anyone making out at a restaurant. Maybe you’re the pervo if that’s all you can think about.

Or maybe because I feel at some point, we just gotta let people make their own choices, and part of doing that is recognizing they’ll make stupid ones.

Wait, shit. Is this goodreads? Sorry, I was working on a tinder profile with all this. Must’ve pasted this in the wrong app. Classic old man move.

Google: how do I put a book review in tinder?

Hello? Google. Goddamn it.

A work of genius. So sharp, so funny. Made me laugh out loud so much. The only down side is that it only took about 20 minutes to get through, but could easily revisit. [And I have been revisiting, a lot]

Finished this in 15 minutes, love it! I just wish the author would talk about other women of colors such as latins and asians as well.
