Devil In The Elevator

Rate this book
A standalone romantic comedy, with a side of kidnapping and a bucket load of sarasm.

Valentina Borroni never knew how much one single moment in time could change her life, forever. Stepping into an elevator with a man she named Diablo, the Devil, did just that.

Noah Hartman, with his wicked tongue and inappropriate word he set her very soul on fire.

What happened next neither of them could have predicted. All they had in the world was one another. That, well, that was almost the scariest out of everything they had to face.

Original captive romance story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 🤨😟😳🥰🥰

The heroine: Valentina Borroni (a.k.a. Sneaks) - she owns a record store with her brother, has a rock’n’roll style which includes skinny jeans, old concert t-shirts and whatever color chucks that match. She is a New Yorker from a poor Italian family, and she loves the city. Especially the views.

The Hero: Noah Hartman (a.k.a. Diablo) - his father is one of the wealthiest CEOs in the United States. Noah is his oldest son but is a disappointment to his father. His brother Jack will someday run the company, but Noah does work for his father. He is also a ladies' man. He has promised himself never to marry. One-night stands are his thing, he hits on just about every pretty woman he sees, doesn’t matter if they are married or not.

The Story: One night Val is out for drinks with her married best friend when her friend is rudely hit on by an arrogant wealthy good-looking man, whom she thinks is a complete jerk. Val gets a look at the guy and his brother who are sitting across the bar and finds him attractive, but that is about all. Though she ends up alone with the guy in the elevator and he is immediately a cocky jerk who hits on her and expects her to hook up with him. After getting out of the elevator in the basement garage, they are kidnapped by three gunmen.

I liked the fact that Noah was attracted to Val from the start. He could barely keep his eyes off her in the bar. Though he hits on her best friend, just because that is what he always does. He is every bit the jackass that Val originally thought. Though as the story goes on, he becomes much more relatable and protective of Val. The kidnapping story was a good one, you don’t often see stories like this where two strangers get kidnapped together and become closer.

The book was told in dual points of view and the story was fairly well written, though there were quite a few noticeable spelling errors so it could have been edited better. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars for the story.

5 STARS for The Devil in the Elevator by Laura Christopher

ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

I so love when I discover a new author - WOW is Laura Christopher extremely talented if possible I would be rating this book way more than 5 STARS and I will be stalking her for future reads. The test for me for a good book is not wanting to put it down and not wanting it to end - fair to say such was the case for The Devil ....

So many things I loved about this phenomenal book :

Cover and blurb - would one click alone for this being the visual of Noah
Great characters and secondary characters
What a plot and storyline - and talk about being in the wrong place (Val) at the wrong time
Loved how Noah and Valentina bring out the absolute best in one another
Real and relatable family issues
Sizzling chemistry
Snarky / sassy & really laugh out loud humor
Sneaks and Diablo ( aka the Devil ) in other words adorable nicknames
Great storyline resolution
HEA with an amazing epilogue

If you have not read this book I highly recommend it as well as the author. I can guarantee you will be totally wrapped up with both characters as Sneaks and Diablo will knock your socks off and maybe your sneakers too !!

Awesome read !!

— a song was not what i needed right now to stop me from feeling sad though, it was him, and that was the most frightening thing of all. this guy who i was only involved with because i had unknowingly gotten myself involved in a kidnapping was making me feel all of these unknown feelings. feelings that i had never quite felt before him.

stop whatever you are doing and go read this book.
they. were. perfect.

if you search for “chemistry” in the dictionary, you will find noah & valentina (or the diablo and sneakers 😌😏😚)

— you’re insane. - clinically insane.
— for you. 😉
— oh. my. god. - groaning, i slumped down in the seat, covering my face with both hands.
— so, you’re calling me god now that we’ve kissed? sweet.
— just drive the damn car, noah.
— best. day. EVER. - he sung those three little words out loud.

Valentina got into the elevator with a stranger and her life was forever changed.
Valentina Borroni had been having drinks with her friend Allie in The Lilac Orchard Wine Bar a wine bar in a Manhattan skyscraper. Allie had been bother by a stranger when she went to the rest room so they decided to leave and while Allie went to pay the bill Valentina agreed to meet her in the lobby. Valentina enters the elevator and a man gets in behind her who when she turns she realizes is the one who had pestered Allie. He starts hitting on her until he gets out then three men get in wearing Halloween like mask forcing her out of the elevator. She and the man Noah are grabbed and thrown into the back of a van their hands tied and blindfolded.

Sneaks and Diablo go camping...

They meet in an elevator; as they're leaving, Noah and Val are abducted. They have no idea where they are, but as they escape, they're shocked to learn that his father wants them both dead. The book needs more editing; even beyond spelling and punctuation, there are some words used incorrectly. But I absolutely love the story - tons of action and suspense to go along with totally hot hero and heroine. The banter between them is hilarious, even in the face of such a dire situation. I love their explanations of the nicknames they have for each other. (I have a friend who calls me Chuck because of my love of Converse.) Sometimes you take a chance on a new author, and the book bombs - but not the case with this one. I'm really looking forward to see what she comes up with next!

Sparks fly when Noah and Valentina meet, but things escalate quickly when they are kidnapped and held hostage. Coming to terms with their dire situation, they know they have to try to escape as there seems to be no chance of rescue. When Noah finds out who is after them, they can trust no one but themselves. Their wicked banter is the only thing keeping them sane as they try to stay one step ahead of their attackers. The danger mounts significantly and Noah will have to risk it all to set them both free.

This story had suspense and drama but also intense reactions to multiple situations. They had an intensity to their reaction to each other. Then the fallout from the elevator leads to an intense traumatic journey and experience that will stay with them forever. Just when you couldn’t imagine it getting worse, the author reveals another twist which is mind blowing. An interesting and entertaining story.

Devil In The Elevator

The H (Noah) and h (Val), both find themselves kidnapped, after mere minutes of meeting each other....No matter the situations they found themselves in, the both of them broke it with never-ending sarcasm😂😂

I really loved the chemistry between the H and h🔥

The little twist towards the end-amazing.

Loved the epilogue ♥

Unexpected Adventure

When I read the blurb I expected this to be the usual enemies to lovers story. This isn’t an insult - I love those. But it quickly turned into a kidnapping-for-hire, an escape, and danger on the run. That was unexpected.

It was a good story with good characters. The book was relatively well written both in terms of background narration and dialogue. At least giving the author the benefit of the doubt and attributing the clumsy parts to poor editing and proofing.

And this is what keeps the book from deserving 4 or 4-1/2 stars. The editing,, spelling, and grammar were atrocious. Unfortunately this interrupts the reading flow. Laura - please find a good proofreader! Contact me if you wish.

Unpredictable from the first chapter
It's a very good romance, full of action, definitely unpredictable, from the start, hot and well written, with very good characters who hate each other, who are at two opposite poles, but who, because of the events in which they find themselves swept away, must learn to live together in order to survive.
It's excellent from start to finish.

This is part of the Hartman Romance Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Valentina & Noah getting trapped together in the elevator.

How this book has such high reviews? I didn’t even finish it. Their arguments are so long and not entertaining at all. I thought the arguments would die down but half away through it and it just got worse. The only thing that made me consider finishing it was to see how the story would be resolved since 50% and they haven’t even try to think about it.
