They are the only ones standing between their kind and timeless evil. Will their love survive the fight?
Camden has spent his life not knowing who he is and being told he’s too broken to ever accomplish anything. But the truth is that he isn’t human, and his untrained powers hold the clue to either saving or damning all elven kind. Ripped from the only life he’s ever known and terrified, there’s no time for him to adjust when a gorgeous prince rides to his rescue.
Crown Prince Morough of the Netherdark will do whatever it takes to save the small but fierce omega who is their only hope for saving their world. Falling in love and finding his mate isn’t in the plans, but he won’t turn down his chance at happiness, even on the eve of the apocalypse.
But when it turns out that Camden’s powers offer either salvation or downfall, the stakes are higher than ever. With ominous premonitions of their love getting cut short, their fragile found family may very well be the first casualty of a war beyond winning.

If there’s one thing Devon likes most, it’s chaos. They have a chaotic mind and a messy house, and they throw their characters into every calamitous situation possible. When they aren’t writing, they’re editing or formatting other authors’ works, building websites, creating graphics, reading, playing video games, or watching Fortnite streams on Twitch. They like to stay busy. So yes. Chaos.
I shouldn't have read it and I am sorry I did but it was all just... it's like I opened the book and you know, there's always this initial faze of getting to know the world and characters, trying to figure out what¨s going on and... here, this period lasted... about the whole book? The entire style feels really "disjointed" - you know like one of those people who have a lot of thoughts and they have so many of them that when they speak (or just express those thoughts somehow) you may get confused on how they get from their point D to point J, because there wasn't any point in between. You know, like if you took your whole inner monologue and then deleted about two-thirds of it and you're left with something that kind of makes sense but you have to squint the right way and fill in the rest. (Kind of like my reviews sometimes =D). It's one of the books that could, I dare say, last a whole series. or at least fill more than one book because the emotional and plot development felt poorly justified and I just didn't see what the MC's (or when and how) they really fell in love. And it has... (I should have checked the blurb more) mpreg. At the end, which is why I couldn¨t just chuck it out before. Omageverse is already straining my limits of tolerance but... eh, just no. Especially no to a pregnancy that lasts years!
I liked the first part of the book more. Yes, it was sugary and uber sweet but it was ok. Alpha/Omega part was a bit unexpected but, again, it worked for me since I liked the author's writing style. The second part of the book was a bit too chaotic. At times it was hard to distinguish who was where and why. I liked the world the author created though. The ending was abrupt but since it's a series that does not bother me much. I liked the MCs and the chemistry they had. The steam level was 3 out of 5 and the author didn't overwhelm the story with unnecessary $*x scenes. The MCs actually communicated here, so it was rather refreshing. Overall, this was a diverting and entertaining read that I mostly enjoyed. I will stick with the series.
I'm conflicted. Character wise, it was very good. All the characters are well rounded, and even the background characters have depth. I especially liked Torvan. Camden/Kaden could have used more confusion to help us readers though. Because worldbuilding wise and plot wise, there were things that could've been explained better. And the lack if clarity in our part makes the plot lose part of its punch. This wasn't a case of "I have no idea how to deal with this so I won't" from Devon's part. It is clear they knew their world and what story they wanted to tell. It's more like they had it so clear they didn't clarify it for us that do not have it so. There's beasts that are important to the plot that just suddenly appear without explanation, events that happen without us knowing what's happening, customs that take place that we're not clear why... That all makes important parts of the book happen and lose their impact due to confusion. I feel there was more to say about elves being alpha or omega and what that means to them, or about being magical or magic null and if that relates to their reproductive abilities. Or differences between lives in each kingdom. Or how the royals work. Or how magic works within their society. Or why the threat is so threatening to them all. We have too many questions to be able to rude the plot smoothly. So when characters are charging to action, we're left behind wondering "wait, what?". And that sucks, because the story is actually really interesting. Hopefully, the coming books bring more clarity
Pros 1) Original story 2) omegaverse with hot Elves 3) mpreg with not Elves 4) lots of magic and fighting evil 5) lots of twists and turns so unpredictable 6) interesting world building 7) huge age gap: I liked how the author disguised the huge age difference under the human age versus the Elven age
Cons 1) Every character uses endearments, like darling, sweetheart, it was so annoying. If it was a characteristic of one of the characters then I wouldn't have minded. But every character used endearments. Even a 23 year-old man. Not realistic to me. 2) There was some discrepancies in the storyline 3) Certain events happening and it just didn't make sense to me.
He had spent his whole life being told he is useless and he would never be anything. He is about to learn he is not human but an elf. Things will all change when a prince comes along knowing they need his help. Will he help? How can he use his magic to help? What else will happen? Follow them to find out

Camden/Kaiden, mentally ill, is in an accident and his introduction to his hidden life is born. A horse (mythical and magical) takes him to four elves, Veli/Velithor, Sol/Sol’kyr, Lin/Li’nov, and his mate, Morough/Momo. Starting a fantastical journey.
The world the author created is mesmerizing. Vivid beings, mostly magical, (some good, and some really bad) populated this book. In the beginning I was a little lost but as I continued to read every thing slotted into place. So many characters I really can’t begin to list them all. Almost every character plays a pivotal role.
I really enjoyed this book. My father would of applied the title “High Fantasy” to it. Me too.
I loved this dark fantasy with elves, humans, and a boatload of magic. Medium heat, A/O MPreg done lovely. Expect the unexpected and I especially enjoyed the “soul bonds”.
This is Devon Vesper at her best. Fans of the novella Soulbond: The Omega's Assassin will be right at home in this new series opener. We venture back to the elven realms and this time our story involves the Netherdark. This realm is a pretty far cry from the Summerlands, which we learned a bit about in the Fated Elves series. Speaking of, if you've read that series, you may recognize a certain someone we meet. And I'll just say this...they finally get what they deserve before this book is done.
Camden was such an interesting character. Having grown up in the human world, he had a very sure moral compass. His ability to have immense compassion, even for virtual strangers, set him apart from the Elves of the Netherdark. Living so long, and in a male dominated environment, has had an impact on Elven society and their beliefs. They seem more stoic and hold their emotions close to the vest. Humans, with their finite life spans, I think tend to take less for granted because it could all be over in blink. Camden was like this in how he made sure to show affection. He wanted the people he knew to know he cared about them, to never doubt they had someone in their corner. It made it easy to see how Morough could fall for him.
Morough was the typical alpha male. Camden was precious to him, and as such, he wanted to protect him at all costs. However, Camden had his own skills and often times was the only one capable to protecting not only himself, but everyone else. I love when the little guy triumphs over the big bad alphas. Time and time again Camden was able to prove to everyone that he was a force to be reckoned with. This, on top of his previously discussed compassionate nature, made him the perfect partner for Morough who would one day rule the Netherdark.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and finding out which elves will be next to find their mates. I have a soft spot for Morough's youngest brother and hope he gets his own book too. And if I'm really lucky, I hope Vesper will take us back to the Summerlands at one point and give us a glimpse of the Sun King. I think a reunion is overdue. 😉
King's Heart is classic Devon Vesper through and through. I haven't read all of the books connected to this first book in the Adradis Rising series, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the story. The MCs, Camden/Kaiden and Morough are very well developed, and the secondary characters are off to a good start. The world building was fantastic, and the writing flowed easily. The version I received did have some editing issues, but as it was an ARC, I'm not going to mark my rating down. There was time for things to change between my finishing the book and now.
The blurb basically tells you the gist of the story, so I won't recap here. The story brought me back all the way to The God Jars saga at times with the way Camden was treated, and the things he had to deal with in his own mind. Once out of the human plane, his powers seemed to manifest fairly quickly, as did the ease with which he wrapped Crown Prince Morough around his little finger. The King and Council were not as easily appeased.
The plot kept me entertained, and I finished the book in two evenings after work and the kids went to bed. I thoroughly enjoyed the development of Camden and King Iliastaire's bond, the way it started, and the outcome after all was said and done. The book definitely hit me in the feels several times, and it was well worth the time.
Overall, I think this is a great start to a new series in a shared world. I will definitely have to go back and catch up on the few I have missed. Camden and Morough have built their family, so for now, they face a happily ever after. The blurb does mention that mpreg is hinted at; there is mpreg, but although a totally different timeline than typical AO dynamics, it is not a focus of the story. There is some knotty heat fun; don't forget this is Omegaverse after all!
Happy reading!
* I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving my honest opinion. *
Camden is believed to be crazy. He was never sure who he really is and has been convinced his is broken and useless. He has amazing powers but has never been trained. The survival of the elves will depend on him. Camden will follow a horse through the veil in a parallel dimension. He will assist an elf and will find that he truly is not crazy after all as he has always been assumed to be by everyone in his life. Instead, his crazy thoughts are actually dreams depicting his real life as the elf Kaiden. He must readjust his thinking and accept these truths because he will play a pivotal role in the history of the Elves.
Camden will meet Crown Prince Morough of the Netherdark who will keep the small, fierce omega safe. Camden is their only hope now for the survival of their world. Although the Prince did not intend to find his mate and fall in love, that is what happens and he accepts his good fortune, even when ominous premonitions of their love getting cut short start to appear.
The adventure is just starting. Grab your copy and follow along as Camden enters his new world and new destiny. Is he ready to begin?
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book in one day cause I couldn’t put it away but this one had me on the edge. The beginning was so interesting it had me on my toes I didn’t know if this was a m/m romance or a harem or a m/m/m. After reading up to 20% you get to know which one it is and I will not say to spoil it. What I loved about the book is you literally got to live in it thinking Camden was crazy and it kept jumping from different times to another. As the story unfolds you realise that everything Camden went through was a sign of something. The ending was really unexpected honestly and it was so heart breaking and so sad. While the ending was a happily ever after it also came at a cost of sacrifice. This isn’t like your normal romance book, there was one favorite MC who will not get their ending and it’s just really sad but the way the author explains it makes the readers believe it’s for the best and for Kaiden’s his families growth. I honestly loved this book can’t wait to read next one
I have read other books by Devon Vesper and enjoyed them but for some reason I just couldn’t get into this one as much as I have others. I think part of it is that there are characters and places with unusual names and I had a bit of a hard time keeping them straight. I also felt like this wasn’t as exciting a story as some of her others. Part of this may be that this is only the first book but as this series is set in the same universe as two of her other series then it may make more sense if you have read those ones first (I’ve only read one). It was still a good read so I will give it a tentative four stars instead of three based more on my enjoyment of her other books and in the hopes that it will be better when the whole series is done.

This is the first book in a new series. We briefly met Camden is Magic Kisses where he works in a veterinary clinic. When his boss at the time said he was closing shop, Camden helped him by curing him. This book starts three years later when Camden sees a horse at the side of the road, riderless. He stops to help and the horse leads him to someone who was unconscious. This starts the book with how Camden finds out he is actually Kaiden and an elf. When he tried to go back through the veil, he couldn’t as it had closed and he was stuck there for a month. The story starts from there as Kaiden and Morough become closer to their happy ever after. Along the way there is much adventure as they all work together to save the Elven plane and getting more proficient with his magic. Loved it and looking forward to reading more in this world,
I loved this book! It got me interested from the start and then I was hooked. The characters were endearing and I found myself wanting to know more about them fairly quick as they were introduced. It was also nice learning things from Camden's point of view because he was as lost in the situation as readers would be and it felt like I was traveling right there along with him. I love that he began discovering a world beyond his own by finding and trying to save a lone horse from the middle of the road and was led to his injured rider. The adventure took off from there. This was the first book I've read by this author and I'm so glad I took a chance and picked this up! I recommend it and definitely plan to read more of Devon's work. 5 stars.
There was potential. It could have been a really cool story, but something went wrong. An interesting plot, but the author has mixed so much that the devil himself will break his leg until he figure it out. Not matching in history. the main character really doesn’t care about anything 😂 he turns out to be an elf, incredible strength, a voice in his head 🤔 everything will turn out to be ok. You can find many shortcomings, but the book was easy to read and in principle, if you do not bother, but go with the flow is not bad. Just REALLY DON'T WORRY. In any case, the story is read and despite all this confusion, the next book will be given a chance. After all, she was the reason I read this. 🤷♀️
The world of Adradis is fascinating, and I was so happy to take a trip back after the glimpses from Soulbond and the Fated Elves series. This book takes Camden, and the reader, on a journey deep into the earth, to the caverns inhabited by powerful elves and just a hair's-breadth from the lurking danger of another realm. The world building is lush and the characters are well-developed, charming, and dangerous. The action is very well-paced, pulling the reader in while building to a pretty spectacular climax. I'm very much looking forward to more in this series!

Let's start with my overall impression. I loved the book! It had me laughing out loud, crying and chewing on my fingernails. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The story? Camden follows a horse through the veil in a parallel dimension. There he helps an elf and is drawn into a war. He learns that he is not crazy, as he and his parents and therapists always thought. His thoughts are just dreams of his real life as an elf, Kaiden. This is something he has to accept before he can play his part in Elven history. There is such an elaborate universe portrayed here, you can't help being drawn into it. I can't wait for the second part!
I loved this book,it is the first but it won't be my last book from this author ,when i started reading this book it brought me into a world that if it was real it would be awesome. It starts when Camden thinking he is crazy because that is what all the doctor told him to find out he is not crazy but the day he is brought into another world and he finds out the truth about himself and that he has a mate and he is to help save the fae world .love this book can't wait for the next one,,,,i read this book for this author for my honest opinion
Devon Vesper knows how to give us an epic fantasy that makes us laugh and cry, and what could be better than a man who thinks he is broken learning an amazing truth that will change his entire life. Camden is a brilliant character with a heart of gold and feisty core that is beyond the normal.
The characters are each so fascinating that we want to know more. We want more of this world, these characters, and this story. And of course, we want the next book.
Camden's story is one that was impossible to put down and yet delivered in ways that were unexpected.
--Intricate, intriguing world building --Layered, complicated (in good and frustrating ways) characters --A storyline it’s easy to get caught up in and hard to stop thinking about
then this novel is going to be a good fit for you. A really interesting start for what promises to be a really engrossing series.

I think I read the prequel to this book with Cam being a strange young man that everyone thought was mentally ill except for the Vet he worked for. This book was fabulous, loved the world building. This is my first book in this realm though I have read this author's work before. Camden and all the other characters are so well written. Loved the ending, well, except for the sad part. Great story I definitely recommend reading.
At first I liked everything: the setting, the elves, the fantastic animals.
Then the turning point.
A great chaos, facts or people taken for granted, events that happen without making sense or events that do not happen at all, a too rushed ending (in three pages two million things), discrepancies in the story, missing explanations of salient facts of the story .
Nevertheless I wanted to finish the book but to get to the bottom I made a great effort.
An absolutely brilliant series opener. I really enjoyed going along with Camden/Kaiden on his journey of self-discovery as he explored the captivating world he was thrust into after being lured down away by a horse in need. Highly entertaining with top-notch world building and a wonderful cast of characters. I cannot wait for my next visit.
This was amazing!! I couldn't put it down! I got lost a little in the beginning but kept going and it captivated me. Camden/Kaiden and Morough are complex and well fleshed out. It's epic fantasy at it's finest. It was extremely well written, highly recommend.

I loved this fantasy story with its great characters and intricate world-building. I initially read the story under its original/prior pen name and genre, so I was very intrigued to revisit it and see how the story had been changed and enhanced. It's a great read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I loved King's Heart by Devon Vesper so much. I consumed it in two days. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with Kaiden and Momo and all of their friends and family. There were many twists and turns and some tragedy, but there is a very beautiful happily ever after at the end for Momo and Kaiden.

DNF 62%. I have a problem. I start this author’s book so excited, and yet, I also consistently have trouble finishing them. There’s a lot to like about this book, but the fact is, the plot didn’t move quickly enough for me.
This was an amazing fantasy story with excellent characters and unique storyline. I was drawn into the book from the first chapter and had a heck of a time putting it down to sleep. Highly Recommended
This one has all the feels. The world building is there without being too much, the romance is slow but the backstory makes it so worth it. I am pacing for the next.
