4.5 Smut Scale Stars
Book one in this series turned out to be some of 2021's best spank bank fodder (review for that one
HERE) and I've beenstalking diligently waiting for this second installment to come out ever since.
When I saw that it was available last week, my whole body said:
Initially, I wasn't really digging Amelia (SO much inner dialogue, people) and Mason was a little too smirky and not enough twerky for my liking...

Anygiggity, luckily, Amelia ended up ruminating a little less and Mason got his alpha running a little more...and we were off to the races.

It’s official. I’m in love with a shifter
I had been WAITING for Mason’s and Amie’s book since I read Wild (Tyson’s and Ivy’s book) a year and a half ago… and DD did NOT disappoint. My review isn’t going to do this book justice because I loved it all ❤️
The beginning of the book takes place at the end of Wild, when Mason’s confused when it comes to Ivy. For your best experience, you could read Wild first, but DD does a good job of filling in any gaps or questions you might have if you don’t.
Mason’s beside himself. He doesn’t know what’s going on with him and why his wolf is reacting towards another pack member’s mate. He feels off, distressed, out of it. Amelia’s (Amie) looking for her sister. Ivy was taken out of her apartment by three huge men and she’s worried. Her wedding’s coming up in less than two weeks, but she needs to make sure that her sister’s okay. So she goes to Arcana Falls to find her. But when she arrives, she encounters a man, a handsome man, a huge man, a man that wants her, that takes up her space 👀 that’s about to make her his mate 🥵. And she’s not going to go down without a fight 😅 and Mason’s not gonna let her escape 😈.
What I loved:
—the tension🔥. Good LAWD😅. You could cut the tension with a kn!f€ (or cha!n saw cause a kn!f€ isn’t gonna cut it- pun intended)… because… my gosh. Their connection is raw, visceral, primal, passionate and intense 🥵. Amie just can’t fight it 🤷🏻♀️.
—the smexxy times💦. This isn’t a slow burn book- thank God, cause I would’ve combusted if it was (all that tension 🥵). And. My gawd. There are so many smexxy scenes 🔥. So many caveman scenes. I👏🏻was 👏🏻here👏🏻for👏🏻them👏🏻all!
—the dirty talk💦. I realize it’s related to the previous bullets, but I don’t care. Mason has a dirty mouth, and it was music to my ears 🔥
—how SWOOOOOONY Mason is 🥰. This man will do anything for his mate. Anything 🥹. He’ll cook for her, console her, hold her, cuddle her, f*** her (wait. How did that get in the swoony bullet!? 🤔Eh… let’s leave it there 😉). He feels all her emotions and purrs for her when she needs it. Gah. I love him🥰🥹❤️
—how OTT JP he is… but also so protective. Mason has his work cut out for him, but everyone around is going to know that she’s his💁🏻♀️
—the banter/funny moments. Oh my gosh. I laughed and giggled so much. I LUUUURVE when Amie tries to fight her connection to Mason, and he just smiles and goes alpha to get his way 💅
—the chasing scenes 👀. I love me a good “you run, I’ll catch you” scenes… and Amie runs (ahem… TRIES to run) a lot 😅. Don’t worry. Mason catches her each time. Which leads me to…
—throwing over the shoulder scenes😉. There are so many 👀. There’re some cute bridal carry scenes as well, but the over the shoulder ones are so much more cavemany… my type of scenes 😈
—KNOTTING. This needs its own bullet 🔥because… oh LAWD 🥵💦
—the neck cl!t. Yeah I said it. And I’ll keep saying it. If Amie’s gonna have a mark on her neck, it might as well be an er0genous one 🤷🏻♀️. Makes me jealous I don’t have one 😑🤣🤣🤣
—the pack members/council. I love the sense of community and how welcoming they are to Amie and how happy they are for Mason ❤️
—Kathy. Yeah, Amie’s mom needs her own bullet, cause she’s freaking amazing. I wanna be her when I grow up 😅 IYKYK
—the OMD. I love when there’s OMD, and Amie WAS supposed to get married 😅. Does this bother Mason? Nope. Amie’s his and ONLY his 😈 she has the mark to prove it 💅. MINEMINEMINE🔥
—the supernatural element to it all. I mean, sure, it’s a shifter world, but more revelations are made, and I couldn’t read fast enough 👀
What I wanted there more of:
—um… an excerpt for book 3? Lol. I can’t think of anything I wish this had. I just wish I had book 3 already lol

And everything I do from now on, it’s done not only for my pack, but first – for my mate. You. You’re the most important thing in my life.”

Twisted Is the second book in this series and I’ve been looking forward to this release immensely. It focuses on characters we have previously been introduced to Mason another super alpha and then Amelia who is Ivy's (who is the previous heroine) big sister. Amelia comes to town in search of her sister and what she finds is something she wasn’t unexpecting.
Mason discovers what had him so off-kilter with Ivy and her scent when he immediately recognises Amelia as his mate he then proceeds to claim her in true Caveman style. Finding Amelia is his dream come true even if she stubbornly refuses to accept their emerging bond. Yes, she’s ridiculously attracted to him but having a looming wedding and a lacklustre fiancé lurking in the background certainly puts a damper on things.
For Mason it’s black and white Amie is now his one and only he doesn’t care how this has come about either he’s immediately all in but for Amie, it’s a little more complicated. A bit of a cynic and used to putting herself last Mason seems like all of her dreams in one tasty package but knowing that her Aunt somehow purchased her a HEA makes her question everything about its authenticity. Scared to accept this slice of happiness and contentment in case it’s snatched away and experiencing extreme guilt she fights her feelings tooth and nail whilst also wanting desperately for it to be real and true. Amelia is one conflicted girl.
Amelia is basically in self-preservation mode she’s running scared from all of the intense emotions that Mason triggers in her. Mason is a complete sweetie and is definitely patience personified. He has such a protective nurturing vibe. He’s also possessive and alpha and totally besotted with his new mate.
So Mason and Amie’s chemistry together was off the charts and their intimate scenes electric. I definitely believed in their connection together and was rooting for them all the way. We also get to catch up with Ivy and Tyson which I loved and there’s an ongoing story arc with threads woven for future books.
As usual, this was well written and was such an easy read. It’s a long book which I loved but I was never once bored and this story completely consumed me grabbing me instantly. I’m now incredibly excited to read further in this series this author always delivers for me every time. I definitely recommend this and enjoyed it so much. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Twisted.

First, I have a confession. This book has been sitting on my kindle, using a KU spot since it came out ONE YEAR AGO! 🙈 Have you ever read a book and loved it SO much, that you were afraid the next book just wasn't going to live up to your expectations? That you were going to just end up sad? I should have just trusted in DD, because she wrote a masterpiece!
Totally loved and enjoyed this book as much as Wild. If anything, I liked the heroine more. I think because I could totally identify with her. The protective older sister. The cynic. Feelings of not being good enough and lashing out in self preservation. Grumpy heroines are my fave and Amelia definitely has a top spot. Mason was just perfect for her. A total cinnamon roll, but at the same time he doesn't allow her to steam roll him. He really embodies the thoughtful, supportive dream guy ❤.
The plot is super interesting, complex, and had tons of twists and turns. The character development was phenomenal and makes you SO excited for the stories that will eventually be told. Loved that their mom got her happy ending as well and two big 👍🏼👍🏼 for her choice, lol! The smexy times in this book were super hot and I loved all the banter between them. Amelia definitely made Mason work for it, but she definitely has reasons for her issues 🤷🏻♀️. Just a fabulous read that I should have never put off. Riley's book can't get here fast enough!

So boring, so repetitive, SO disappointing.
It's basically a long ass book with dozens inner monologues in between scenes, especially from the heroine, that prolong the storyline for no reason. The MCs meet, he abducts her, she constantly rejects him while simultaneously wanting him and being attracted. They go from having sex one minute to her whining and trying to distance herself the next, back and forth with this until almost the very end.
Nothing exciting ever happens (much less exciting sex) he's a sweetheart but boring boring boring.

A lot of pushing away from the heroine that doesn’t make any sense. A lot of ungrateful scenes from her that doesn’t even make any sense. Sorry but this heroine right here is the character that I don’t like the most and very bad heroine in my opinion. IT JUST MADE IT SO HARD AND SO ANNOYING SOMETIMES TO CONTINUE READING CAUSE THE HEROINE’S CHARACTER MADE IT SO FVCKING HARD!!!! LIKE HOW I’M SUPPOSED TO READ THIS WITHOUT GETTING ANNOYED WHEN THE HEROINE IS LIKE THAT? AND HER ATTITUDE AND OVERALL CHARACTER IS NOT EVEN FUN THO. CAUSE SOME WILL PROBABLY THOUGHT OH THAT IS THE “FUN PART” HMM NOOOOO. HER CHARACTER BEING LIKE THAT IS NOT FUN AT ALL. I HOPE THE NEXT HEROINE WON’T BE THIS ANNOYING CAUSE THAT WILL BE A PASS FOR ME IF IT DOES (I can’t take anymore of pushing away from a heroine with stupid reason). BUT. THE HERO HERE? THE MAN HERE?
ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT AND FANTASTIC!!! LIKE YOU CAN’T GET WRONG WITH THE HERO HERE. THE HERO HERE IS THE ONE WHO MADE ME CONTINUE READING THIS BOOK. HIS LOVE, DEVOTION, KINDNESS, LOYALTY AND HONESTY TO THE HEROINE IS SUPER ROMANTIC. It made me want the hero to myself and not for the heroine😄😄🤣 Like i can treat you way better than the heroine😂😂😂
Since the very first time he saw her and hold her, he always so nice and loving to her despite her being so cruel to him by pushing him away many times (it’s exhausting to see her).
“You’re not gonna suffer, baby. I’m gonna be the best mate there is. I’m gonna do my fuckin’ best to be as close as possible to the perfection you refuse to settle for less than.”
“I stand right with you, baby. Behind you when that’s where I know you need me to be, in front of you when you need me to be a shield, and beside you any other time. What I’ll also do is pick you up when you fall, but wherever possible, catch you before you land. You don’t know me yet, but that’s what you’ll figure out once you give this a chance. Will you do that? Open up enough to let me in? Let me show you how good this is gonna be?”
THERE ARE SO MANY TIMES WHEN THE HERO IS TRYING TO CONVINCE HER THAT THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS WHAT MEANT TO BE AND SHE ALWAYS WANTS IT UNDONE, HE ALWAYS SAYS THIS TO HER:
“I don’t want it undone because of what I feel when I’m with you. Because of how I feel inside you. Because of how I know how good it’s gonna be as time goes on and I fall deeply in love with everything about you.”
EVEN WHEN THE HEROINE IS MAD ABOUT SOMETHING SO LITTLE AND NOT A BIG PROBLEM, THE HERO FEELS SO BAD ABOUT IT.
“Pain shunts through my veins at the sight of this. This hurts me. I need to take it away, protect her, make her happy, erase whatever this is. Take this pain away from the both of us because I feel it as acutely as if it’s mine. I want to take it with my teeth and rip it to shreds so it can’t hurt her anymore.”
Like no doubt the hero is the main great star here.

Since the very first time he saw her and hold her, he always so nice and loving to her despite her being so cruel to him by pushing him away many times (it’s exhausting to see her).

A little friendly disclaimer: I'm not a fan of this author.
Why would I read a book by her though, you wonder? Well, I love shifter/paranormal romances and the first book sounded interesting enough. I actually read and finished book one much to my surprise so I was sorta looking forward to checking out the next one.
So, anyway... This was sorta entertaining for the first few chapters though it did relive a lot of the last chapters in the first book but from Masons POV. But again, this author's writing style is just so not my jam. Acquired tastes, personal preference... whatever you want to call it. Point is, I was reminded just how exhausting her writing is because they write way too much detail when a little goes a long way. Why is that bad? Well, honestly I personally don't see why every chapter has to be an endless stream of inner monologue by the character(s) where it goes on and on and then almost makes no sense to the point they've simply dissolved into rambling. It doesn't matter to the story telling IMO. It almost always reads like a bad info dump or someone's journal where they just mindlessly chatter without pause about everything that pops into their head. This can be entertaining and tolerable in some contexts but usually not. Now much of my opinion about this is based off of the fact I'm a very seasoned reader who is also very picky with what they read and knows what sort of writing and styles they like and don't. So, teenage me prob wouldn't have had an issue with this particular (amateur-ish) style. The narrative just doesn't work for me as a reader.
I found it exhausting.🤷🏻♀️ and that's not even getting into the story, plot or characters themselves. Which, yeah. I already found the heroine Amelia annoying and boring. So, nothing new there.
Most disgusting to me the authors poor choice in describing actions or sounds. Um, I'm sorry but can we not compare the heroine being wet during sex to the sound of stirring macaroni?!?! Whattt?? Ugh. 🤦🏻♀️ That was seriously out of place, random and just gross. I'm sure y'all can do better than that. It wasn't funny at all either if that was your aim.
And that paragraph about him not having a red lipstick dog dick and it getting near her... 🤢 Superrrr unecessary.
Just..I was willing to try but when I skipped nearly 7-10 pages of just the heroine babbling about her fiance (whom she obviously doesn't even like) and all these random past experiences with him while supposedly searching for her engagement ring and being upset she cheated on him...I knew I wouldn't have the patience to keep going. It was a lot of nonsense that was best skipped and even then I wasn't interested anymore.
Alas, for those who are fans of DD and her writing have fun y'all. I think I'm going to finally listen to my better judgement and stop trying books by authors I already knew I didn't enjoy and leave them to those who do like em. ✌🏻

Well, honestly I personally don't see why every chapter has to be an endless stream of inner monologue by the character(s) where it goes on and on and then almost makes no sense to the point they've simply dissolved into rambling. It doesn't matter to the story telling IMO. It almost always reads like a bad info dump or someone's journal where they just mindlessly chatter without pause about everything that pops into their head. This can be entertaining and tolerable in some contexts but usually not. Now much of my opinion about this is based off of the fact I'm a very seasoned reader who is also very picky with what they read and knows what sort of writing and styles they like and don't. So, teenage me prob wouldn't have had an issue with this particular (amateur-ish) style. The narrative just doesn't work for me as a reader.
I found it exhausting.🤷🏻♀️ and that's not even getting into the story, plot or characters themselves. Which, yeah. I already found the heroine Amelia annoying and boring. So, nothing new there.
Most disgusting to me the authors poor choice in describing actions or sounds. Um, I'm sorry but can we not compare the heroine being wet during sex to the sound of stirring macaroni?!?! Whattt?? Ugh. 🤦🏻♀️ That was seriously out of place, random and just gross. I'm sure y'all can do better than that. It wasn't funny at all either if that was your aim.
And that paragraph about him not having a red lipstick dog dick and it getting near her... 🤢 Superrrr unecessary.
Just..I was willing to try but when I skipped nearly 7-10 pages of just the heroine babbling about her fiance (whom she obviously doesn't even like) and all these random past experiences with him while supposedly searching for her engagement ring and being upset she cheated on him...I knew I wouldn't have the patience to keep going. It was a lot of nonsense that was best skipped and even then I wasn't interested anymore.
Alas, for those who are fans of DD and her writing have fun y'all. I think I'm going to finally listen to my better judgement and stop trying books by authors I already knew I didn't enjoy and leave them to those who do like em. ✌🏻

DD Prince is the Queen of writing scorching Alpha males and partnering them with women who are strong and capable of taking care of themselves, and then DD throws in wittiness and humour that has me swooning and laughing while reading the same page!
This couple are fated, or are they? Is there witchcraft and coercion or manipulation involved? Amelia and Mason struggle to find their footing, especially Amelia. Mason does not need convincing, because he knows this is his fate, where he is meant to be and who he is meant to be with.
Amelia's sarcasm and wit had me laughing out loud a lot, especially when she called Mason Doggo and referred to Rick as whatshisface
These characters were so well written and developed that I felt immersed in this story from page one until the end.
Magnificent and amazing story!

Oh, Mason, how I love you.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that while Tyson is the Alpha, Mason has him beat. Gah, I cannot even believe that I am saying that but after this book, Mason is going to be hard to beat. I knew that this author was going to knock my socks off. however, what I didn't know was how fast. All the pieces that I had wondered about that had happened with Mason and Tyson in the first book came together. It was even more complex than I was prepared for and I love that the author had laid the groundwork and foundation in the first book because it enhanced it in this one. I can only imagine how much better it is going to get with the additional Alphas when they find their mates because I have a very funny feeling that there is a WHOLE lot of magic at play here and not just with Ivy and Amelia.
This was a story that packed a punch. It is a big book, but that is not surprising because I don't think that this author knows how to write small. I am 1000% percent okay with that because it never feels like extra fluff. Even though this happens in a, relatively short period of time, it doesn't feel like it. There is a depth to it that makes me invested in what is happening. It is very reminiscent of Kristen Ashley in that way which is even more fantastic since she is one of my all-time favorites.
There is mystery, magic, hotter than hot smexy times, and intense characters. The dialogue and banter are fantastic. I laughed out loud several times. The way that Mason was with Amelia was so very swoon-worthy. He never doubted this connection and did everything he could to make it so that she understood that. Amelia fought him tooth and nail but that was because she had her own demons and baggage to deal with. I liked that while similar to Ivy, she also was uniquely her own. There were some heartwarming scenes, one in particular, being between the sisters.
I loved the happily ever after for these characters. The epilogue was really cute. It also, opened up where this series is going in the future. I look forward to that because all of these characters are amazing and I look forward to seeing them in the future--either as the main character or again as secondary characters.
I cannot recommend this author enough. There is a reason that she is one of my favorites, regardless of the trope. I tried to stop reading and go to bed at 40% but I ended up reading until almost 4 in the morning, despite needing to be up in a few hours for work, because I just tossed and turned and needed to find out how this ended. If that isn't a testament to good this author is then I don't know what else would be. BRAVO.

So many feels it’s hard to articulate. Mason and Amelia’s story is everything ❤️.
We start with a brief overlap looking back at some things that happened at the end of Wild and getting more insight into what was happening with Mason. Then onto what we’ve been waiting for.
Mason is seriously the perfect H. Loving, attentive and dominant. Amelia was his #1 priority from the moment he met her. His focus was unwavering and his goal was single minded. Boy did he ever need it because he had some major work cut out for him with Amelia. This man had patience like no other.
Bless Amelia, this poor girl, was easily one of the most bull headed, stubborn heroines I’ve come across. Her head was such a mess. She was so determined to sabotage her own happiness it was crazy. Mason and the life he was offering was everything she ever dreamed of but she was so afraid of being hurt she clung to her old life with a sad, exhausting desperation.
Mason was determined to guide her safely through the minefield of her mind while making her fall for him one small, sweet moment at a time. She’s a runner and he spends most of the book chasing her gleefully as he chips away at all her defenses, worries and doubts.
All the while we get these delicious moments of Amelia breaking free of her terrible fiancée and Mason standing right by her every step of the way. We get more time with Ivy and Tyson, see Ivy & Amelia’s mother find independence and happiness again and lay very exciting groundwork for the next stories in this series with Riley’s situation and a mysterious mate for Greyson I’m dying to meet.

July 7, 2022Dnf at 40%. It just dragged on and on. Amelia argues about being mated, tries to run, they have sex. This cycle repeats over and over again. Interspersed with lots of inner monologue and some cringey convo with her MOM about her sex life. In fairness, I dnf--ed Wild as well even though I really enjoyed some of the author’s other books, so maybe this series just isn't for me.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it
(Let me start by saying that I really recommend that you start this series with the first book. It will help you understand some conversations and emotions better about things that happened in the past.)
After reading and loving ‘Wild’, I was really looking forward to reading ‘Twisted’, the second story in the ‘Savage Alpha Shifters’ series, especially because the main characters Mason Quinn and Amelia Brennan were both secondary characters in the first story. (Mason’s one of the seven ‘super’ alphas who sits in the pack council and leads the pack and Amelia is Ivy’s older sister.)
Where Ivy in ‘Wild’ was sweet, her sister Amelia wasn’t. She was bossy and very vocal with her opinions. But even more importantly, she was engaged and even getting married soon!!! But in ‘Wild’ we could already read that Amelia was Mason’s mate and that their mating was just as interesting as the mating of Tyson and Ivy. But even then, it was clear that Mason could handle strong-willed Amelia perfectly!
The story started from the beginning (the night that Tyson and Ivy met), the night that the magic got unleashed but this time we got to see it from Mason’s and Amelia’s POV. And we got to see how and why Mason reacted on it like he did. (Personally, I’m very glad that the writer started there, it gave us more insight into Mason’s feelings and also gave us a different POV on that ‘intense, emotional’ scene in ‘Wild’.) From the moment that Mason heard/smelled/saw Amelia he knew that she was his destined mate and no matter what Amelia did or said he never doubted that. And I LOVED that!! Mason used every trick he had (purring, growling, chasing, knotting => at moments I was really jealous of Amelia about all this, I want a Mason too!!) to convince her that they were meant to be. That she was THE woman for him. Amelia never had a chance to be honest. But she tried, I have to give her that. She was bossy, sometimes a bit bitchy but the more I got to know her, the more I realized (just like Mason) that she’s very sensitive and had been badly hurt in the past. Amelia was also nurturing, caring and very protective of the people that she loved.
The banter between these two had me smiling and laughing at times, I really enjoyed that. The sex scenes were steamy and hot. I would even go so far as to say that Mason and Amelia are my new favorite couple of this series!!
Although Amelia was engaged when she met Mason, it didn’t really felt like cheating when she and Mason started their mating (even though she was still engaged at the moment) especially with all the things that we discovered during the story about her fiancé Rick (or Whatshisface like Mason liked to call him), his motives and their relationship.
The secondary characters were great too. Mason’s parents were wonderful. Especially his mother Skye was a warm, funny and caring woman, everyone should have a mother-in-law like her! And of course, we got to see the other alphas again and get to know them better. These guys are really great, they are very protective and there for each other and the pack. Just like in ‘Wild’ Bailey was again a good, new friend to have by your side when you’re new to this shifter world. She’s so sweet, I really hope she gets to have her own alpha too. I had such fun with Ivy and Amelia’s mother Kathleen, she was very popular with the ‘older’ alphas, specially Lorenzo and Cade, at one point in the book I was even wondering if maybe she would be lucky enough to have two alpha guys but at the end she ended up with just one of them. But still, it was very entertaining to read about her dating adventures.
The conclusion of my review is that ‘Twisted’ is a great story. It’s filled with funny banter, emotional moments and steamy and sexy playtime. The writer did a fantastic job of giving us a wonderful second story in this series and a story that even managed to surprise me in the end (something that I love as a reader!). I’m really excited about where this series is taking us and I can’t wait to read more about it.
Last, I just want to say that if you’re a fan of the beautiful biker series of this writer, than give this series a try too, even when you’re not sure that you like paranormal romance stories. Because to me, this series has the same vibe as her MC series.

I adore Mason. He's super sexy and swoonworthy. As soon as he meets Amie he's all-in. This is a wolf who knows what he wants, and he's determined to get his mate.
Amelia is a fantastic leading lady. She's fiesty and funny, but deep down she's been hurt and has her own demons to deal with. She wants so badly what Mason offers her, but she isn't able to trust it. And just as she seems willing to fall, truths come to light. Can her wolf shifter earn her trust and love?
Twisted is a huge book, but it is so easy to get swept up in this wonderful wolfish world.
There's a fantastic group of characters in this series, not just the leading characters, but the rest of the super-alpha's are fantastic and I'm so looking forward to each of their stories.

Gah! This was such a good push and pull, angsty book! We get Ivy (from book one) sisters story! When Amelia goes and searches for her missing sister, she ends at finding her fated mate herself!
It was such a fun experience to head back to Arcana Falls and revisit some characters. We definitely see more of Tyson and Ivy. And we see Mason become such an alpha and possessive mate, but also adoringly loving and amazing - even if it took Amelia forever to realize that she is where she should be.
The problem is Amelia is engaged to another guy. An awful guy, but she maintains here loyalty to him and the wedding. Mason won’t have it.
It’s a ton of push and pull because obviously Mason knows that this is his mate. And while Amelia does feel something, she knows that her late aunt - who got witches involved, she feels like this is all fake in temporary. And refuses to invest any feelings into Mason.
This book was so good. It was well worth the long ass weight. I thoroughly enjoyed all (over) 700 pages of this juicy shapeshifter romance.
There’s tons of drama, and spice, with more HEA from the characters of book one but also with Amelia and Mason. It’s also pretty clear that we will get book 3 and who will be the main characters!

Fantastic writing as always from DD Prince! I absolutely loved Mason and Amelia's story and did not want to leave their world. I love how entwined all the characters are in this series and each one has me as intrigued as the next. I also love the details and time that is taken with this world, it engrosses you within it so much so you feel apart of it, going to have to re-read this and Wild while trying to wait patiently for the next one.

I’m dying for book 3! This was such a great ride. There’s so much going on in this world with the witches and the shifters, I love it! Arcana Falls is definitely a magical place.
Amelia drove me nuts. She’s so stubborn. But I’m glad she was able to give Mason the happiness he deserved. I can’t wait to read about the hot mess that is Riley and Erica.

July 5, 2022Not my thing. I gave up at 30% for 2 main reasons:
1. It's a clueless human + magical creature book, and it's not really done well. This a personal pet peeve, but I hate the tediousness of a human being thrown into (kidnapped in this case) a magical world. Especially when she's a fated mate. It's like watching the Uncle in Spiderman die for the 5th time..... same exact emotions, same disbelief, fear, shock, and slow acceptance.... over and over. Just for her to catch up to where everyone else it. A few authors can do this right, but not this one.
2. Dual POV made it even more tedious. There is NO mystery in this book. In one chapter, you have the heroine thinking to herself, "I am upset, I feel guilt, I am planning __, and I am worried about the witch." Then the very next chapter will open with the hero thinking "I know she is upset, she feels guilty, she is planning to escape, and she is worried about the witch. But she need not worry because the witch ___"
......like okay? What's the point of reading that? What am I here for? The heroine's main motivation is wondering where her sister went, but we all know from the hero's POV that the sister is alive and well, recently mated to another wolf, and conveniently can't come to the phone because she's having so much sex. Great. Wonderful.
Dual POV is the worst in stories that have limited complexity already.

I absolutely adore this world the author created. I absolutely abhorred Amelia. She annoyed tf out of me with her insecurities and endless inner monologues of the same conflict and dilemmas. I absolutely LOVED Mason and his steadfast loyalty. I was really hoping he’d flip his lid on Amie and deliver the punishment he kept threatening…
I love the pack and the village dynamics. The supporting characters are endearing. I can’t wait for Riley’s story.
My only complaint about this shifter world is that the bite doesn’t get reciprocated, so the bond seems one-sided.

I should have listened to all the reviews saying how long, boring, repetitive, how annoying the fmc was, and how much inner monologue that was in this book.
I might try again at a later date. But I don't know, I'm not really feeling 724 pages...

I cannot express enough how much I adore DD’s writing.
This.Book.Is.EVERYTHING!
I broke my DD cherry with Wild, Tyson is my number 1 book husband. Then enters Mason. It’s not often that I get the ‘want’ to read all books in a series, because I usually get so attached to the first couple, but this book has made me genuinely excited for what’s next to come.
It’s got all of the DD flare we know and love. How she can grip you and pull you into the world of the characters she is portraying. She can make you laugh, cry, want to throw things and eat your feelings all within a 5 minute span. It is utterly incredible. She knot-locks you in and holds you until she is done.
There’s teasers for the books to come, there’s Easter eggs from other books not in this series. It’s got so much within its pages that it holds you until the last second. When you endure a double barrel shotgun blast of emotion. I swear I’m gonna be picking shrapnel out of my brain for weeks.
I don’t usually reel when a book ends. But with this book I absolutely have because I NEED to know what happens next at Arcana falls. I genuinely cannot wait.
Amelia is amazing, there are a few things I connect with her over and that to me makes her so approachable. Mason is 100% the alpha snack that is more of a full blown meal. I want to devour him over and over again. He fulfils some kinks and I have to say if a primal kink is your bag, then get on this story. Seriously. DO IT!
It’s a long book, it (as usual to DD’s style) has triggers included in its content. But I fully, absolutely, whole heartedly, recommend this book. I also recommend that you read Wild before reading.

this book made me hate the previous pairing even more
but IN CONTRAST to book 1, this one seems light-years better in terms of the couple, their relationship development and the hero. Mason Quinn is really swoony, but Tyson (book 1 hero) deserves to be castrated and die 😡

I’m putting in my review to remind myself

I was promised a few things by a friend for this books:
✔️ Abduction’s
✔️ Werewolves
✔️ Dubcon
✔️”Leave your feminism at the door” energy that is only good in fiction
What I got was only the werewolves and slight abduction without actual consequences .
So this book is a YA book. Oh yes it’s probably marketed as NA/CR, but it’s YA. This is similar to a CW show comparison where, because the tropes and horrible formatting are apparent, it makes it a stereotypical “YA” book.
The premise of this book is about Mason (ML) , an alpha werewolf who feels deep in his bones that something is off. An untimely run in with his alpha brother and his mate leaves some scars, but it gives the audience a segue into Amelia (FL) , who is the sister of the last FL worried sick and is currently affianced with a wedding in progress.
When Mason realizes she’s his mate, he abducts her, as one does in shifter land, and Amelia is definitely not having it.
See, I was being sarcastic since that’s not true at all.
This entire book in theory should be a dark romance featuring abduction and entering a brand new misogynistic side of the world. Instead, the author relies on us believing in the standard #BodyBetrayal trope as the FL, who wanted so “badly” to escape” actually has the sudden hots for the werewolf who abducted her and has no actual plans to be faithful in her relationship nor does she actually care about her sister other than saying she does and never acting as if she does.
The entire book is written so poorly that my two stars is generous. The entire fallacy that even the protective mom of the FL and her sister just giggles and goes along with this instead of actually mothering her daughter made me want to throw my kindle.
Ah, but then of course it gets to the fated part: FL can’t have kids .
There goes my I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-YA buzzer because I have bingo.
This entire book vividly reminds me how easy it is to publish anything onto the internet and how saturated so much media is with unedited, unresearched, and uninspired content that it discourages people from wanting to wade through trash to find a small thing of treasure.
I actually did a #SpiteWrite OW one-shot because how bad this book handled so much of it’s “plot”.
If porn without plot is your thing, I encourage you to read it. But if you want a believable plot and likable characters with chemistry so it makes intimate scenes well earned? Read something else.
I hope if my future self ever sees this book recommended to someone, I can remember how much this book did absolutely the worst job in explaining a story. I’m so glad I will never need to read another work by this author and I encourage them to at least find a beta.
If a wattpad novel has better formatting and editing than a published work, there’s a problem.

This book is worse than I thought.
This author has completely disrespected infertility and the nuances with surrogacy. But honestly, I cannot say I’m surprised considering the atrocious, unrealistic dialogue, and the validation of sexual assault as long as it’s in a relationship. I read books for escapism, but wooooooooow this book definitely belongs on Wattpad.
Had to lower my star rating to one after the mess I just finished.
So Mason is allowed to hurt and assault his “wife” and she forgives it even though everyone else recognizes he was assaulting her. Magical pregnancies for those struggling with infertility is to be celebrated. It’s also to be celebrated how no one wants to actually take abduction seriously and it’s play off like a romcom.
Can’t forget how the entire story has no coherent plot! I wish this had been on Wattpad. Truly. It deserves to be there.
