Hadley Hunter is living the good life until a group of authors shows up on Moonstone Bay, and one of them clearly has murder on their mind. Jasmine Riley was the lone female writer in a male-dominated genre, and she was on top of her game. When she winds up dead in the ditch on the highway outside of the city, suspicion turns to her competition. There’s just one problem … the culprit might be supernatural. Hadley not only finds the body but is injured in the aftermath, catching a glimpse of a door to another world before losing consciousness. Did the head injury cause her to hallucinate, or was it something more? Galen taps Hadley to be his partner on the case, convinced that’s the best way to keep her from finding trouble. Unfortunately for both of them, plane doors are starting to open all over the island, and with them come monsters from another world. That means trouble continuously finds them. Plane doors are forbidden on Moonstone Bay, but somebody doesn’t care about the rules. Hadley is determined to find answers … and she gets help in the form of Bay Winchester, a Michigan witch on her honeymoon with FBI Agent Landon Michaels. Together, they start digging … and find that not all monsters are obvious. Someone is controlling the plane doors. That someone is putting everyone on the island at risk. Hadley is determined to find out who … and stop them. Along the way, she will find new friends … and maybe even the ever-elusive shark shifter she’s been dying to cross paths with. It’s a meeting of powerful witches and a battle for the ages. Strap in and enjoy the ride.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Hadley and Galen really are the perfect couple and Booker and Lilac seem to be catching up on their relationship with a vengeance. The story was a fast paced read as usual but I was concerned that for the third occurrence running when out of town magicals show up on the island Hadley has been portrayed as much meeker with considerably less flair or gumption than the Hadley we have become accustomed to, almost to the point of being overshadowed. So, Hadley needs a tutor in a large way. I am really looking forward to her actually learning her craft. I'm very excited to see just how magnificent Ms. Lee will make her. This one has a few twists and turns that will keep you on your toes and you will be looking over your shoulders quite often as well. Happy Reading !
I really enjoy this author's sense of humour. I particularly love the cross over stories. This one featured my favourite characters Tilly Winchester. Lots of laugh out loud moments, snarky dialogue and of course murder and monsters to kill. Highly recommend.
I really like this series! The characters are well developed, interesting and fun. The plots are great and well written.
One drawback is the lack of consistency. Booker's mother didn't kidnap the group...but in each consecutive book she's named as the culprit. Galen is the sheriff, but he says he's chief of police in one line and goes back to sheriff a few lines later. Sami "fixed" Lilac, but two books later Lilac needs to "vent" through Booker.
While these things seem minor, it's an annoyance to readers who follow the series.
If not for that, this would be a 5 star series. All in all, definitely worth the read!
I often find these series predictable, but this is why I love them so much. It’s like being sucked into Hallmark Christmas movies. There’s always the love hate between the man and the woman, the fighting off the feelings, the moment when they get together, the climax and the happily ever after.
Both Amanda M. Lee and Lilly Harper Hart write the books for the feels. That’s exactly what they are a feel good book. I couldn’t get enough of the Covenant College series, which lead me to read this series because I wanted to see more of Zoey and Aric. Now I want to see more of Hadley and Gaylen. I can’t get enough. I could read all of Amanda M. Lee’s books over and over. Great job. Please keep them coming. I love all the cross overs. I will be starting the Asiling Grimlock Series next. I can’t wait to fall in love with more characters.
As Bay and Landon arrive on Moonstone Bay for their honeymoon, a writer's convention takes over the big hotel in the city. The trouble starts when a body is found by Hadley who's on her way to visit her grandfather. It's not just a body though as Hadley clambers down the ditch to investigate a plane door opens releasing a strange shadow monster that attacks her leaving her with an injured leg, and unconscious to boot.
When she's found hours later and rushed to hospital they all believe she's just delirious because of the poison racing around her system and because of the DDA rules about no one opening plane doors on the island.
But Hadley knows it's true and rather than resting her injured leg heads off, with Aurora babysitting her, to investigate the writer's gathering at the fairgrounds. It seems that the victim was Jasmine Riley a sci-fi writer who'd had great success and really upset the predominantly male authors in the genre.
An intriguing surge of power occurs as she meets Bay, and Landon, and the girls make a magical connection which will provide help further down the line. There's more trouble when Great Aunt Tillie arrives furious that Bay and Landon didn't bring her on their honeymoon. Landon's determined to get back to a restful honeymoon with zero trouble and zero Tillie to deal with!
But with more plane doors opening Galen has to accept that Hadley was telling the truth and when the DDA start gunning for the love of his life believing she's to blame they will need to draw everyone together to find out who is trying to wipe out the competition.
this is an absolutely extraordinary Supernatural paranormal cozy mystery series
This is an absolutely incredible supernatural cozy mystery series. An extraordinarily entertaining cast of characters and a spectacular storyline. Hadley is the witch who inherited her grandmothers lighthouse on a magical island off the coast of the southern United States. Before she inherited the lighthouse she lived with her father in the Michigan area and did not even know she was a witch. Once she arrived at the island she soon found out that she was a witch and that all kinds of supernatural beings existed. As you read the series you’ll find that out and more. In this particular book Hadley and the Moonstone Bay crew have other issues to deal with. We also have a crossover with characters from the wicked witches of The Midwest series. When multiple characters from multiple series get together in this authors world it always makes the book just that much more exciting and entertaining. You do not want it to end you just wanted to keep going on and on. So read on and see what’s going on in Moonstone Bay in this book and be prepared for a number of exceptional surprises and fun crossover characters. Enjoy
Bay and Landon honeymoon in Moonstone Bay and run into Hadley Hunter.
Hadley is a recent addition to the.residents of Moonstone Bay and on arrival.she learned she was a witch, her better half is Taken the islands sheriff and a wolf shifter. On her way to visit her grandfather Hadley comes across a dead body and is then attacked by a mysterious creature. Someone is opening Plane doors ( doors to other dimensions) on the Bay, While looking into the situation Hadley runs across Bay Winchester and Landon Michael's ( from the Winchester Witches series) who are honeymoon in the island, turns out they are not alone.----------- Three guesses which family member has decided to follow them. ------------- The plane doors are starting to become a major problem appearing all over the island usually near Hadley although no one chi figure out why. But which some of the Winchesters on the island the good guys are powerful enough to deal with all eventualities. As ever a fun read and I love anything which involves a certain Winchester Witch.
This was about a writer who was murdered and it was up to Galen, Hadley, and the Hemlock Cove Coven to dig into find out who the killer was. There were also doors randomly opening from other planes. Within the other planes there were various shadow monsters released into Moonstone Bay that were intent on killing anyone in their path. The questions to ask were: who or what is opening the doors, why were they being opened, and how will they be stopped?
Bay Winchester and her husband Landon Michaels, along with Aunt Tillie Winchester were on a 2 week vacation in Moonstone Bay. They helped solve the questions and caught the killer. I love when characters intermingle from different book series. Also, Lily Harper Hart was mentioned a few times and was actually a character in this book! That was cool. I’ve read several of Lily’s books.
For my next book, I’m going to read what happens to be by Lily Harper Hart. It is the 7th book in the Supernatural Speakeasy Cozy Mystery series. Titled “Once in a Brew Moon”. I have previously read the first 6 books of this series.
I love the Moonstone Bay books and I love pretty much every series this Author writes but there are often inconsistencies that bug me. While the plot, story, and conclusion we're all pretty great, I mean who doesn't love a crossover, especially when it comes with Aunt Tillie. The only issue I have is with Lilac. In the last book supposedly she was fixed by my favorite wolf mage Sami Winters so that she was in total control of her magic and could use it at will and then in this book she had to vent it into booker again but there was no reason she should have had to. It seems she's still extremely volatile which shouldn't be the case after the last story. Other than that this book is great.
I really liked this book, loved the portal doors opening and watching Booker and Lilac become more comfortable in their relationship, but I wish Landon and Bay were included more in the book. They are hardly in the book and it’s never from their point of view besides the prologue. Originally I thought this was a crossover because the prologue starts with Bay and Landon, but it is not, it is purely a Hadley book. Still a great book and worth the read but if Bay and Landon aren’t really apart of the story, then the prologue should have been about Hadley.
I normally scarf a moonstone bay book down in one sitting, however i found myself bored with this one. The addition of Bay and Landon on their honeymoon could have been interesting, but the addition of "I could be a professional" Aunt Tillie just completely ruined the book. And the hubris of the author to add her pseudonym into the mix as a gossipy author, Well to be quite frank i don't care who gets the massage, I don't care enough about the characters. The addition of a love interest for Aurora because let's face it that's who the new boy in town is! Didn't even help raise this book for me. Not even sure I'll get the next one.
In the previous book, Great Hexpectations - Sami healed Lilian so that she could use her demon powers and not have to vent into Booker anymore. Why did that revert back in this book? Overall, I really loved the story, but I feel that you’ve weakened Hadley In the last few books. Through most of the series, Hadley has proven to have great instinct and intuition and I feel like we’ve lost that in the last couple of books. I’m a huge fan of the Winchester witches and Landon and was happy to see them in this story. I’m hoping that we continue to see Hadley grow and follow her instincts in the next story.
This book is now one of my favorites. I love Bay and Landon. They're one of my favorite couples. This book was pretty fast paced and and Tilly threw everything into mass chaos. As per usual. Hadley didn't display as much of her magic as usual. She seemed to be thrown for a loop and everyone around her knew more about magic. She did learned. a lot though. Excited for the changes with Booker and Lilac. Felt so bad for Bay and Landon. As usual, the book could be standalone, but better if you know everyone's dynamic. Told from multiple POVs.
All my favorite characters from Moonstone Bay! Then add in some of the Winchester clan. Bay and Landon are on their honeymoon, and there’s another couple we’ve been waiting on. And who would show up during someone’s honeymoon just because she always wanted to see the island? A dead author, doors opening to other planes, someone who was sent away... There are always sad parts in the good books, but I suppose that’s what makes them real underneath the fantasy.
I love the characters from Moon stone Bay; Hadley, Galen, Lilac, Booker and Aurora. Then you bring in 3 characters from the best witch series "Wicked Witches of the Midwest" to visit and you have a fabulously fun snarky story. Aunt Till is alone will make you roll on the floor laughing but add her, Bay and Landon and you have a fun read, that is a page turner. Loved the mystery and loved the trouble that exists when some of these characters work together..
I love it that Hadley is coming into her own. Bay and Landon are always a welcome addition, not to mention Tillie, Tillie is always a favorite! The shark leggings… I can’t unsee that, even though it’s my own imagination… LMAO! Lily Harper Hart and the pimento cheese loving Sarah. Love it. I was in the grocery store the other day and saw pimento cheese. Made me smile. That was before reading this book, I smiled bigger today. Love love when characters are combined. Looking forward to any and all future writing. Thank you, Amanda.
I guess this is the last book for a while since it’s the last one in the series that’s been written hopefully another one will come out soon. And this one Hadley gets to me Bay Winchester who is there on her honeymoon with Landon. In this one there’s a lot of mystery a lot of stuff happening that Hadley didn’t even know could happen.. just said there’s not a number 10 yet. Hopefully there will be soon all of these books were really great I enjoyed them all. 🙃
In the previous book in the series, Lilac was "fixed" by Sami so she wouldn't lose control of her demon side and go nuclear. She would previously have to vent into Booker. After Sami healed her, she was able to use her powers without her hair turn flaming red or have to vent. Now in this book, all of a sudden her go goes red and flaming and she had to vent into Booker again. Just another example of inconsistency. Annoying. Try keeping to the timeline.
I love Moonstone Bay and enjoyed this installment. I was a little apprehensive at first because I don't always love the crossovers, and honestly I feel like the Winchesters have mostly run their course. I was pleasantly surprised that this crossover focused more on the Moonstone Bay crew than I anticipated and only included Bay, Landon, and Tillie selectively and in ways that made sense for the plot. I adore Hadley and Galen, and I was so happy to see Booker and Lilac's relationship progressing.
I absolutely love everything Amanda M. Lee/ Lily Harper Hart writes. I love the cozy mystery stories and I adore all her characters. She has such a fantastic way of writing each character and a brilliantly quirky sense of humour. She is one of my one Click authors. I will read any of her books without having to read the blurb because I just know I'm going to 100% love it!.
Amanda M Lee has done it again!! I stayed up all night to read this book. I often feel guilty for binge reading when I know it took considerably more time for the author to write it but it was so worth it! I love crossovers in her work too and we finally got to see that shifter we’ve all been waiting on to pop up. Loved this book and can’t wait until she has another release so I can see what happens next!
Once again, Hadley gets caught up in the case de jour causing her grandfather and her boyfriend to have a conniption fit about her safety, but it also brings her to the attention of the DDA. Just who is opening the doors between planes, and why is Hadley always front and centre? Thankfully Hadley and company have help from honeymooners, Bay and Landon, as they race to uncover the culprits before it’s too late.
What is the worst thing that could happen on your honeymoon? No not that! How about a family member showing up who doesn't belong! I loved that Bay and Landon get away, at least for a while! And Hadley gets to meet someone she's been looking for since she found out about shifters!! New friendship are in the making and I'm hoping.maybe a New romance is just under the water!
I love crossovers and the story line was interesting. The addition of Brody was great and I am hoping he will find his own love interest. Hadley still needs some work, she is so self involved and ridiculous with I can do this on my own attitude, that she is inconsiderate of those people that really care about her. Here is hoping that she grows up in the next story. Love crossovers!!!
Really enjoyed the book. I love crossovers and Bay is a favorite. Had thought a first the bad guy was going to be a revenant or that Hadley was about to meet Bob but nope.
One confusing moment for me was when Lilac drained her excess energy into Booker.... I thought Sammi fixed that. Maybe I read it wrong and it wasn't completely fixed. May have to re-read.
The Joy of he's (A Moon stone Bay Cozy Mystery book 9
This author Amanda M. lee is my absolute favorite . she writes wonderful storylines, wonderful characters, and my favorite stories are with witches. I have read at least 50 + books and most of her different series. This series puts two different series together. I love them that way. I highly recommend all her books and different series and different names she writes under. Diana Romano
Cool book! Bay and Landon leave Michigan and fly into Moonstone Bay to honeymoon. They are joined by my favorite character, Aunt Tillie and the fireworks begin! Add all of the paranormals from Moonstone Bay into the mix and an Authors convention and its almost a free for all. I enjoyed this book and I always laugh a lot while reading all of Amanda M Lee's books. I love snark! I find her books are well written and well edited.
So many things wrong!!!!! Hadley still can't use magic . in this crossover we have Bay Winchester along with aunt Tillie a necromancer and powerful witch and they didn't fix cemetery. REALLY!!!!!! ALSO Sami fixed Lilac demon problem in book 8 made big deal about how Booker was worry she wouldn't need him. But in book 9 she is broken again . I'm not a fan of this series only reading crossovers .
Moonstone Bay is hosting a writers conference. Hadley is on her way to visit her grandfather when she spots a body in the ditch. She is attacked by a monster from another plane, a supposedly impossible occurrence on the island. Bay and Landon are there for their honeymoon and none other than Aunt Tillie puts in an appearance. Everyone unites to help uncover the mystery and save the day.
