A Guiding Series short story, originally published in the Evil Queen Anthology. Meet Selene before diving into Millicent's Guide to Surviving the Fall.
Cynthia hates writing her own bio. In her down-time, you can find her watching movies, ranging anywhere from classic to action flicks (she has a weakness for Marvel adaptations), and reading any novel she can get her hands on.
She loves hearing from her readers! You can reach Cynthia at cynthia.a.rodriguez6@gmail.com. Both her Twitter and Instagram handles are @thecynrodriguez.
I liked this story a lot. The chemistry was there and the writing was amazing, it honestly reminded me of a Tarryn Fisher novel. The female MC was hard to root for, troubled in her own ways. I look forward to checking out the series this short story is written about.
12/11 a lil re-read before diving into Sam’s story
This book was an interesting take on heartbreak. Selene is definitely a confident woman but does struggle at the same time. That is shown in this short story. I enjoyed reading this and being able to connect with Selene. I also enjoyed Sef. He was a bit mysterious but also was just understanding.
“What happens when chaos meets passion?” This line completely fits this story perfectly. Love this line.
Do check out this short story, the author has a way with words that they just flow so smoothly.
Cynthia did not disappoint. In this short story we get a sneak peek into the other side of her second book in the Guiding Series. Selene was relatable. From her heartbreak methods of eating bags of marshmallows to being intrigued by another person but still guarded. I adore her and I hope Selene gets her own book in The Guiding Series. But until then it makes me excited to see Sam’s side of the story. It was a great short read that makes you want to hear more about the characters!
That line lives in my head now, and has me so excited to read Sam's story in the next book of the Guiding Series. Here's hoping that Selene gets a shot at learning what happens next in her own book!
What happens when all you familiar with, all that gives you feeling safety slips from you? What happens when you feel yourself falling from your throne?
Selene, a women admired by many, you look at her and all appears golden, but in reality she is just like ever other woman standing at a crossroads. Her insecurities facing her every time she looks at herself, but also not willing to give into them. I envision her a villain, however her heart will not allow me too. She is good at putting on an amazing face. She is a badass, she is a queen, but even the best of them will falter.
After a chance meeting, fate steps in to help her decide what path she needs to take. By meeting a handsome stranger, Selene will finally find herself, find her own safety and we will see how much power we can give ourselves when we just take that step.
This was a perfect little intro to Selene’s story, a character that will be VERY important in Cynthia Rodriguez’ upcoming full length novel release, ‘Millicent’s Guide to Surviving the Fall’.
You may love Selene, or you may hate her, or you may even know where she’s coming from and understand her. One thing’s for sure, she will make you remember her. I hope she has her own book one day too because I want to know more!
