Alexander Job has it all - fame, family, and fortune. He's charming and giving, and a friend to the lowliest stranger. But success can make you a target - especially to people like gang leader Trent Mulligan. And for no good reason except he can't stomach an honest man.
Lily Holloway, an orphan, barely owns the clothes on her back. She could ask for a lot of things, but all she really wants is a family and a loving home. Unfortunately, she's trapped in a system without much room for love.
As Alex's world flips upside down on a journey whose destiny is despair, where can he turn when the God he's always trusted looks the other way? And what can Lily and Alex - two people with no hope for tomorrow - possibly offer each other?

This is an excellent and engaging story which parallels the Old Testament Book of Job in a modern-day, Twenty-First Century environment. The novel is well paced leaving the reader to experience and feel all of the emotion, pain, and loss of the main character…as well as his patience and perseverance.
The well written, thrilling plot is filled with interesting characters that keep the pages turning with plenty of suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seat and eager to know what will happen next. This all leads to a climatic and very fulfilling ending.
Mr. Quattlebaum does a great job of conveying the Book of Job in this novel and pointing out that God is always acting with goodness and justice, even during times when we are experiencing great pain or loss. An excellent read. Highly recommend…5-Stars!!
This is the first book I’ve read by Robert Quattlebaum, but it will not be the last. Mr. Jo’ is a contemporary retelling of the book of Job from the Bible. Bravo to Mr. Quattlebaum for taking a tough account from the Old Testament and developing it into a well-written and emotionally-engaging story. I really enjoyed the redemptive spirit of the novel and the satisfying ending.
