Jack and Riley are back!! Yes! RJ Scott brought our beloved Jack, Riley and family back for a beautiful story that really deserves 20 stars but alas that limit me to just 5! This story picks up when Hayley is just getting ready to head out to college and goes threw the years after. No I will not tell you anymore about the book, you will have to read it yourself but I will tell you that it is a very satisfying story with a Happily ever after that you will find just as heart warming. My only wish is that it could have been another 200 pages longer but then if it was I would have wished for another 200 so I guess I better settle for just getting another beautiful Jack and Riley love story!!!!! Thank you so very much RJ for blessing us with this beautiful book!

I was very lucky to not only have the pleasure of proofing this one but also to receive an #ARC from RJ and its a real pleasure to review this one.

As anyone following my news feed a month or so ago will be aware, I had never read the Texas series until then and I binge devoured this Dallasty saga in all its soap like glory over a period of a few days.

When we left Riley and Jack, they were happily settled on their ranch with 10 years of marriage behind them and their four kids, surrounded by associated family, friends and the young people they were helping make better lives for themselves.

In this one, we pick up with Hayley heading off for college and it was so lovely to catch up with this bunch. The story covers a long period, it offers up a few shocks and surprises and a few inevitable outcomes which are happily welcome.

Throughout it all though, the love which anchors Jack and Riley together is only strengthened by the trials they have to pass through and the result is a book which takes the story of the Double D Ranch and lays down a solid foundation for this whole saga to go into the future together. This is another wonderful Happy Ever After to add to the Texas series.

4.5 stars rounded up because still no 1/2 stars here on GR and I just loved it that much.

A decade in the life of...

While it's only been a half decade since RJ Scott first shared the story of how Riley and Jack came to be together in 'Texas Gift' we're given not 'a day in the life of' but 'a decade' in the life of these two men. We find out what life has brought to the 'Campbell-Hayes' clan and those they love as dearly as family.

I've read every book in this series and yes, I've loved some more than others but regardless of that I don't regret reading any of them and for me this is the kind of series where you need to read them all so that you can truly have the whole picture.

In 'Texas Gift' we go through the whole gambit with them 'for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, ' (well...except that last part. Thankfully we are spared this).

While book 7 wasn't the most notable book for me this one delivered and then some. I cried...oh man did I cry...happy tears, sad tears I pretty much shed them all. I've been hanging on to this one for about a year now...last year I said good-bye to a few series that have been dear to my heart and when this came up I just didn't have it in me to say good-bye to another favorite, but with another year coming to a close it just felt like maybe it was time to let go. So I opened the book and I started to read by the time I went to bed I had less than 20 pages to go...20 pages in which I realized that I'd fallen in love with these men and their family all over again....so few words remaining with so many feelings attached to them.
"I love you," Riley said, hoping the words meant more to Jack each time he said them. "I've always loved you, and I always will."

"I love you, too." Jack said, softly, "I've always loved you, and yeah, I always will."
Of course before I started this story I also knew that with it's ending I didn't have to truly say good-bye to the Campbell-Hayes family because while it's not about 'Jack and Riley' there is at least one more story to come in 'Home For Christmas' we get to know Connor and I can't lie...I'm more than a little curious because at the end of 'Texas Gift' Connor brings his boyfriend Elliot home to meet his family but in the blurb for 'Home For Christmas' the name that seems to be occupying Connor's time isn't 'Elliott' but a young man named 'River'...so if you think I'm not scurrying off to find out what's happening in Connor's life well...sorry, think again.

I have NO idea why I waited so long to read this. Okay, yes I do. I simply didn't want to say goodbye to Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes. But OMG, this was so worth the wait.

The author takes us through multiple years in this last installment so that we get closure with the family--even going so far as to grant Hayley the man of her dreams. And we all know who that is, right?

And Jack and Riley are as loving and committed as they were from the beginning. I must re-read this entire series. There's not a single installment that I didn't love. But I must say that I cried multiple times during this one and tears don't generally leave my eyes. I might get misty-eyed but tears that flow down my cheeks? Rarely. But they did here. At least three times. And I will clarify--all happy tears--bittersweet, nostalgic, and tears of joy.

If you've ever enjoyed any of the installments of this series, be sure you run out NOW and get this book and get started. Very highly recommended and not to be missed.

This is one of my all time favourite series and I honestly have lost count of how many times I've read and reread it. When I was lucky enough to receive an arc, I grabbed it and would've hugged it if I could've.

It was great to see Jack and Riley still happy, and how they had matured as a couple. Still massively in love. There is a whole host of previous characters making an appearance and I enjoyed reading about their lives, and how they were getting on. Hayley' s story especially had me smiling beatifically. As usual, as is the case in these stories, there's a lot happening, some of it unexpected, but on the whole, it's a feel good tale, a summary of life at the D.

So, a fantastic catch up, with Jack, Riley and their extended family. There's a bit of drama, a bit of angst, loadsa smiles and a lot of love. I'm hoping there's at least one more story left in the series. Hint, hint. You know who and what I mean Ms Scott. Very highly recommended, especially if you're a fan of Jack and Riley.

The Texas series is one of my all time favourites and it firmly cemented my love of MM romance.  Jack and Riley are a delight to read about.  Being back with them and the rest of the Double D gang is like being wrapped in a snuggly duvet on a cold dark morning.  It wraps you up in a warm hug and you don't want to leave.
As with the rest of the Texas series, Texas Gift sees Jack and Riley treading the path of life, love, marriage and parenting.   There's ups, downs, health scares and not to mention plenty of barn action.  I love the whole cast of Double D characters - Robbie, Liam, Eli, little Max but it's Riley and Jack that I adore.  Their love is epic, one-in-a-lifetime and all consuming.  They are such good guys - will do anything for their family, are generous to a fault and want to help others as much as they can.   Totally in my top 5 of MM couples.
One of the thing I enjoy most about reading series is the chance to see favourite characters again and watching how there lives progress.  It warmed my heart to see Riley and Jack still so much in love years later as well as seeing the family as the grow older, moving on to the next stages of their lives *sigh*
I ended Texas Gift with the warm and fuzzies but it was also bittersweet.  It definitely felt like the end of an era.  As much as it pains me to say this, because I could keep reading and reading about Jack and Riley, but it's probably good to end the series on a high.  And oh what a high it is.
Thank you RJ for giving us Texas fans this wonderful gift xx

Book 7 in the Texas series left us with a strong HFN, even a HEA ending with Jack and Riley’s wedding and this story shows us how much the couple are still in love and happy with their marriage and family life. It gallops through the years in a relatively short story, but I’m glad the narrative wasn’t dragged out and padded with too many scenes. Of course, there’s some angst and worries for the pair, notably with Hayley’s future career and her relationship with Logan, plus there are some concerns with Riley’s business.

It was great to visit the Double D again, receive another glimpse into this endearing couple’s lives, and share a few more hot moments with these sexy guys together.

Sean Crisden continues to wonderfully narrate this saga. He’s consistently maintained the various voices throughout and projects the love, passion and concern these characters feel. Highly recommended, engaging storytelling from one of my favourite narrators.

This is the 8th and final book in the Texas series. If you haven't yet read this series, please go grab The Heart of Texas (Book 1) and get started, you won't be sorry!! This was a bittersweet read for me, knowing that this was probably the last time I'd read about Riley and Jack. Their love is something special and they will forever hold a special place in this reader's heart. This book covers approximately 10 years following the ups, downs and sideways of a family. There were SO many happy tears. I'm always a sucker for books that make me "feel" and RJ Scott did that for me with this one. I don't do spoilers, so I won't be summarizing the book, suffice it to say that for fans of this series, this is an amazing wrap-up and seeing Riley and Jack still so much in love after all this time (they're not perfect, just perfect for each other!) warmed my heart. BTW - there is another couple on the ranch that become parents! ***teaser***.

Dany - per RFS
.

Buona Lettura.

This one, as they say, is for the fans. And since I cannot get enough of Riley and Jack, I really appreciate this “extra” glimpse into their life – and Hayley’s, as she gets ready to leave for college and all the events that follow. The story is told in little vignettes of Riley and Jack’s lives, a style the author has used throughout the series. I loved each and every one of them – some funny, some sad, and all very emotional.

I've really enjoyed the journey life took Riley & Jack on. This book is somewhat an extended epilogue on how life is evolving at the Double D ranch.
With the kids growing up, Riley & Jack manage to keep their love at the center of it all and come back to each other every time.

Amazing series! Loved each of the books.

Why RJ Scott shouldn't write short stories.

This book started as a series of short works on the author's website. Like many of her shorter pieces, this one morphed into a full length book that takes us back into the world of the Campbell-Hayes family. The story is a series of snapshots that move through the college years of Hayley and Jack and Riley coping with the kids growing up. It is a wonderful visit with old friends.
Disclaimer this is the latest entry in a long running series please read the others first or you will be losr!

4,5 stelline ❤️❤️❤️

The series has more or less ended...sad. There is one more book that I'm currently reading, and I think it's centered around Connor. Even though Riley still prevails. I wish RJ had given us a little more info about the extended family than he did, e.g., Max, Beth, and Steve, Riley, and Jack's moms. As long as the series has a HEA, I'm happy.

One of my quirkiest reading habits is that I often read books in a series out of order. So while this is the eight book in this series it is the first book I have read in this series. The greatest thing about reading a series out of order is that a lot of great series don't have very great beginnings. Like the one series that definitely comes to mind (and it comes to my mind whenever I think of a series of books) is the Cut & Run series. Now that series is legitimately amazing and there are like almost no books that I don't like in that series except maybe the first one and now you know where I am getting with this. I truly believe that if I had started reading that particular series in order, I would have never read the second one in the series which ironically is one of my most favourite books in the entire series. But since I started that series from the fifth book in the series, Armed & Dangerous, I never had to find out what would have happened if I had read the Cut & Run series in order and considering the fact that Armed & Dangerous was my first M/M Romance, I am glad I never have to find out.

So, here we are with another series being read out of order but surprisingly not for lack of trying. I actually did attempt to read this series once before, definitely a few years back and I started with the first book and I left it in between. Now the only thing I remember from that book is Riley being especially irritating and that contract was just too ludicrous for me to continue reading. But every few months this series used to pop up on my radar.

Recently, I was scrawling through ScatteredThoughtsandRogueWords and I came across this and I loved the excerpt for this book so much that I started reading the book almost immediately after coming across that excerpt because established couple romances are my most favourite thing in the world and this one just seemed to be one hell of an epic one.

This book is pretty amazing. I really loved Jack and Riley like God they are so good together, like perfection wrapped in cotton candy.
It was amazing to read about these two while getting to know them and their family, a rather large extended family at that but one hell of an amazing one.

I think I really liked Riley more than Jack. Jack seems perfect and he is so good and I really liked him but Riley tends to let his insecurities show through more and I love the fact that he makes a concerted effort to change his thinking because while it might not always be instinctive, it is nice to know that people are making an effort for the better.

This book reads like a giant epilogue, not really, but somehow I feel like saying that because it does have all the elements of an epilogue but despite the fact it doesn't read like one. We do get 10 years in the life of Jack and Riley and since I am currently reading Texas Wedding I have an idea that this book is set roughly 5 years after the previous one, so in a way, we are getting 15 years in the life of Jack & Riley.

Personally, I loved everything about this book but I was wondering about Max. I really wanted more about him and I didn't get as much as I would have liked, I am wondering if this is because the previous books in the series cover that aspect of the series or not but I really want to know more about Max, definitely.

All in all, this is a pretty amazing book.

I guess the best thing about reading a book out of order is that you know where the characters end up but you don't know how they got there and figuring that out can be an amazing journey.

Oh it is so much fun to get to look in on characters you love, spend a little time catching up them and their family and that is exactly what R.J. Scott has given readers. Jack and Riley are still very much in love and committed to each other and this story takes place over time and really gives a look at how life played out for this couple.

I loved reading this, seeing Jack and Riley still making it work and loving each other. I loved getting to see Hayley grow up and become such an incredible woman and loved that while this story wasn’t angsty at all, there were some real life challenges for this family. If you’ve read and loved this series this book is just perfection and will absolutely leave your heart happy, it sure did mine! Thank you R.J. Scott for this wonderful, heartwarming gift!

I remember the first time I read The Heart of Texas, and I thought this is the most ridiculous, unbelievable, over-the-top, made for television plot that I’ve ever read. I promptly bought the next two books (because that’s all that was released at the time) and I still drag them out to re-read every now and again. Of course, my collection has grown to include every new book in the series, a series that I believed ended with book #7. But I’m guessing that just like her readers, R.J. Scott has trouble letting go of Riley and Jack and their whole extended adopted family.

Is this book perfect? Probably not, but without question it is the perfect ending to one of the most addictive series that I’ve ever read. Ms. Scott really has given us a gift, as this book takes us on a journey through the next ten years of life on the D. If you’re anything like me then you always want to know what happens next. And then next. And next. And then what comes after all that? Well this book answers all of those questions for all of the characters that fans of this series adore.

Not wanting to give away any of this book’s sweet surprises – but by the end of this book, Jack is about fifty years old. So we get to see all four of their children as adults, Jack and Riley as grandparents, enemies become friends and another D couple also become parents. I especially liked that the author took some time to write Jack into a situation where he gets to play hero cowboy one last time. And of course, what would a visit to the D be without a visit to Jack and Riley’s barn? It doesn’t matter how many years this couple has been together, their passion is still as smexy hot as it was in the beginning. The way Jack and Riley love each other is so freakin perfect that it sucks to realize that these men aren’t actually real.

Any body that hasn’t read this series yet should definitely not start here. This is a series that needs to be read in order from the beginning. For readers who already love this series, well, I don’t need to sell this story to you. In fact, why are you even sitting here reading this review? You should already be over at Amazon (or whichever store you prefer) buying Texas Gift and indulging in the Campbell-Hayes family – just one last time.

First, be sure you’ve read all of the books in this series before you start Texas Gift, otherwise you’ll probably find it hard to be invested in the lives of the characters. This book is meant as a “where are they now” type story for those readers who have followed the entire series, to allow readers to catch up on what has been going on in Riley and Jack’s lives and with their family over a ten-year time span. Those who have been following the Texas series will love this glimpse at Riley and Jack’s life now, Haley going through several of life’s rites of passage, and seeing how Riley and Jack’s love has grown even deeper through the years.

It was like coming home again to be able to visit with these characters, and watch as their family continues to progress and grow. Since ten years is being covered in this story, you’ll find points where time will move forward in larger chunks—something I personally prefer to see delineated differently than it was presented here, but the overall story still worked for me in the end. I was just happy to be able to catch up with everyone in the family, and get more closure for the series as a whole.

Texas Gift was a strong 4-star read for me, and if you’re a fan of the series you’re going to love this follow up to round out the characters’ lives (and if you haven’t read the series yet, don’t wait any longer!). This story is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

It was the author’s gift to us, to let us catch up with a beloved family, the Campbell-Hayes. We, the readers, have had the privilege of watching the love bloom and grow between Riley and Jack. Then see that love expand as they added Hayley, Max and the twins, Lexie and Conner.

But now the kids are growing and growing up. Hayley is ready to leave the nest and go to college. RJ Scott does a masterful job of showing the kinds of pains parents have when one of their own is leaving the nest. Of how hard a job it is, to balance the need to forever keep your child safe and letting them test their wings.

This story is an emotional one, with highs and lows. There are some scary moments and some bittersweet as well. You connect with every feeling the characters on the pages are going through. As always, this story is so well written. It was wonderful to see the rest of characters on the ranch and the extended family, to be able to catch up with them. It is, a one click, one sitting read.

O.M.G. What an EPIC way to close a series. I started reading, resenting any and all intrusions and at 0245 this morning(10/11/17) and at 89%. The Letter! I had tears and snot , digging around for tissues. But was I stopping? No way! It is awesome , spanning events over years as the family matures. I’m not rehashing the synopsis, there will be plenty of reviews that do. I want to concentrate on the FEELS. This entire series has been full of the LOVE of family, familial and gathered over the years from all walks of society. This last book concentrates on the Jack and Riley unit mostly. Starting with a shock to the reader and ending with an enormous AWWWW! So how do I feel? Emotional, its the end of an era. Satisfied, all the ends are tied up. Happy, although the books are done we have only just had book 4 in audio, so much to look forward to!
If you haven't read this series.. Where the heck have you been? I can’t recommend it highly enough.

This is one of my favorite series of all time. Last time we saw Riley and Jack they were happy with their ranch and their four children. If you haven’t read this series yet it’s past time for you to get Book #1 and get started. This is #8 in the series and it pretty much wraps up the story. This one covers a lot of time.
Haley, who was a surprise child for Riley from his days of sewing his oats is off to college, wanting to follow in her father’s footsteps. Riley is suffering from bad headaches which turn out to be much more serious than that.
The twins are growing up and Max, their autistic adopted son is still a child to deal with.
I would call this a happy ever after story for all of the family. I absolutely loved this book and beg you to read it. You won’t be able to read just one. Now that they are coming out in audiobook you really must start with the first one and read through them. A fantastic contemporary western family story and I will miss all of the characters.
