Big Boys #3

Big Boxer

Rate this book

I don’t mean any harm when I call the boxer past his prime.

But my blog piece goes viral--and the boxer comes knocking.

It’s bad enough meeting someone you’ve written about. Someone you hero-worshipped as a kid; whose poster used to hang on your wall.

But it’s worse when your piece was less than kind… and the man turns your legs to jelly with a single glance.

Okay. I messed up here. And Lucas Scott is not afraid to let me know it. But once tempers have cooled, he’s not ready to leave.

That thing I wrote about his stamina?

…Yeah. The boxer’s got something to prove.

Big Boxer is a short and steamy age gap instalove story, with a burly hero who fights for his love.

Um, I think this is my second fav in this series. Basically, skipping smut in Cassie Mint books is a good thing to do, imo cz it's less and cringes me. The other things like small built-up and the stories are good.

**3.5/5 stars**

This was a decent story. I think the author had cool ideas for this premise; a love story between a boxer and a sports writer who is a fan of said boxer. After going to one of his matches, she writes an honest article about him possibly being past his prime, causing him to seek her out to ask her some questions...

Beck was alright. She was the type of heroine who is shy at first but when she gets comfortable, she becomes a little firecracker. I would consider her as a fairly normal character where nothing really stands out in her actions, her reactions, her personality, etc. And I say that because I don't really have anything else to say about her, she was pretty realistic. I liked the way she was with Lucas; intimidated but also able to face him and talk back.

“A girl like that… she’s lucky I didn’t climb back out of the ring and snatch her straight from the crowd. Ditch the fight and take her out into the hall; push her up against the wall and make those pale cheeks flush red.”-Lucas

As for Lucas, I liked the fact that he was older, big, muscular and powerful. The way he was described was very hot. Some of the stuff he said and the way he acted with Beck was pretty sensual too. He had a sort of confidence and subtle smugness that I look for in a main character but he also had a vulnerability when it came to Beck since he was much older, and the article that she wrote made him doubt himself a bit.

“It’s a good thing Beck liked that—me being possessive as hell. Because now that I’ve touched her, I can’t go back. She’s mine.-Lucas

My only complaint is that we don't really get to know much about the characters' backgrounds, especially Lucas. It was all surface stuff, nothing about his family or his past; we just knew about his current situation...

Lucas and Beck had a nice chemistry. I believe that it was insta-lust, the tension was there, the mixed feelings were also there. But I think that they connected a bit too quickly. I just prefer when the characters take their time to know each other beforehand. Here they didn't really get to talk, it was pretty much just lust that then transformed to love. The ending was a little bit on the rushed side, but I still enjoyed this novella overall.

TROPES:
~age gap

~boxer x sports writer

Beck is a sports writer, writing an article about a boxer she admired as a teenager, Lucas. After she sees his fight, she writes a truthful yet rude article about him. Lucas tracks her down and the rest is history.

This one wasn't my favorite. It was a little boring in places and I found myself struggling to finish it.

SAFETY:
Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, unknown past for hero
OM/OW drama: none
Cheating/sharing: none

A pleasant surprise!

After I was let down by the last book in this series I was really happy with this one. It wasn’t all instalove and smooth sailing. There was a lot of push and pull between the main characters for a short read. Going on my reread list for sure.

A rush of adrenaline❤️❤️

This was such a short book it’s hard to know how the author managed to pack so many feellzzzzz into it. Even tho it was quick, it packed a punch. (Heh😝 I’m here all day!)

Loved the sense of connection and vulnerability between the MCs, which made the steamy bits all the more intense.

Totally safe. Hero’s past isn’t mentioned at all. Heroine is a virgin. No others, no abuse or cheating of any kind. HEA with epilogue one year out.

These are becoming so formulaic I couldn’t tell you what the differences between the last two women were.

And there was insta love again! The first book in the series they knew each other for 3 years. Why can’t more be like that? Not sure I’m grabbing the next one

A sports journalist h and a big bad boxer H who lost his sparks and passions on boxing; and only the h knew about it. She then decide to write about it and gave her honest opinion. But without that honest piece, their path wouldnt cross. It was a sweet instalove (for H) story. The heroine was crushing and on H for forever. But she felt it would give him a disservice if she didn't write about him losing his spark and play pretend.

It was actually a good short steamy story. I liked how fast the pace of the plot yet it still gave quite a detailed back story of both MCs.

Sooo guys let’s just say Cassie Mint does big bad men. I love big men but she is fabulous 😍!! I was so afraid I would never find another writer who wrote big men like this. Not buff men but big men, husky and sexy!!! 😳 woah, don’t make me blush here y’all!! Let’s just say we love it and he fights and punches hard and had a big belly. 😜

Another great Big Boys romance by Cassie Mint! This one is about Beck and Lucas Scott. Lucas is a famous boxer who feels like he is missing something in his life. And Beck is a sports journalist who writes an article basically revealing that Lucas is starting to become past his prime. Lucas is obviously not too happy about this, so he decides to track down this woman and confront her. But he might be totally entranced by the woman instead.

Another fun novella that I read in under an hour! I loved the boxing aspect in here, and thought it was so cute that Beck had a crush on Lucas when she was a teen. This was so hot and entertaining!!!

Review: This one has been my favorite so far I loved Lucas so sexy and fun to read about . This is about Beck a sports writer who ends up wring a article about Lucas but it wasn't a good one . He finds her and they end up having some spicy time . Beck ends up coming to his gym and apologize cause she feels like she rushed him out of her apartment she ends up returning the favor. She comes to his next match and then they hook up in the locker room . A year later she ends up telling him She's pregnant and they are married it was fun story .

Quotes:

Oh my god,” I mumble, palms pressing harder against the wood. My breath mists over the varnish. He huffs. “I can hear you.” His deep voice drifts through the door. Shit. Shit shit shit.

Am I your favorite, Beck? Do you ruin the careers of all your favorites?” Beck. Hearing my first name in his gravelly voice sends a ripple down my spine. My toes curl against the floorboards, and I slam the deadbolt back and yank the door open, fixing him with a glare. “Don’t flatter yourself, Mr Scott.” “Lucas,”

The entire character development arc happens in like... 60 pages? Beck goes from "ugh I kicked my celebrity crush out of my apartment after one orgasm" to married with a baby in what feels like a fever dream of a timeline. There's zero breathing room. I wanted to KNOW these people but instead it was just: article → confrontation → sex → marriage → baby. The pacing is genuinely chaotic and not in a fun way, it's more like watching someone speedrun a relationship on 2x speed.

I want a big boxer

Yup. The best one yet. I loved their chemistry, I loved how Beck had been crushing on Lucas forever and one of his biggest fans & she saw something in him that nobody else noticed.

And Lucas? Omg I loved how emotional he was. And under it all... Just so Sweet.

And I loved their HEA.

The couple: Lucas and Beck

Romance genre: age gap
Series: Big Boys
Length: 61 pages

Plot: Beck is a sports journalist who has been following Lucas' boxing career since she was a little girl. When she's finally assigned to write about one of his matches, she notices that the spark seems to be gone from his fighting. When she writes that, though, he shows up at her apartment to confront her. He isn't expecting to see the sexy woman from the crowd at his match though, and he's suddenly fighting for more than just a career.

Commentary: I felt like this was actually a bit of a twist, to have the hero go an confront the heroine like this (over the article she wrote) - I enjoyed it. It made for a sort of enemies-to-lovers vibe. I think the epilogue was sweet and this was a fun story.

Beck, the female lead, has been a boxing fan since she was a child, thanks to her father. She has followed Lucas’ career and long fantasised about meeting him (and more). Now, as a sports reporter, she’s given the opportunity to cover a match and is deeply disappointed by the lack of energy in his performance.

Lucas, the male lead, has been struggling with motivation but thought he was covering it well. When Beck calls him out, he pursues her go try to understand how she saw what no one else has.

This short story is dual POV, well written, and full of cute awkwardness as the characters try to work themselves out.

The chemistry between Beck and Lucas - whew! She writes a viral article about Lucas Scott, her favorite boxer, losing his spark, and he finds out where she lives to confront her. Absolutely diabolical behavior irl, great in a romance novella! The sparks fly, and they both get possessive fast. Loved it.

Reread 9/26/22: Still so cute and hot! One of my favorite Cassie Mints for sure.

“And someone told you my apartment number?” It comes out in an outraged squeak. I clear my throat, cheeks flaming. God, I’m glad this peephole is one way. I really do need to change that photo. “They shouldn’t have done that.”

“No,” he agrees. “They shouldn’t have. But I can be charming.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ok, Beck was a super fan of Boxer, and also the biggest fan of Lucas. Also the writer about boxer.

She found the truth that he had worn out recently during the boxing match that nobody really noticed, and wrote the article about her thought, and this is how Lucas found her, which was drama but funny.🤣

Lucas went into her house and the chemistries between them couldn’t be ignored, so Lucas had finger-fk for her, but Beck was a virgin, so she made the wrong decision, agreeing she got orgasm, she asked Lucas to leave.

🙄Well, I was really annoyed by Beck, what she did was really like an ass, but she then noticed her behaviours was really bad, so she came to Lucas and they had great agreement. But I still felt a little awkward between them after her apologize. I really didn’t like Beck’s behaviours before. But she was a good girl bravely admitted the mistakes.

But what happened next from Lucas’s pov made the whole story vivid than before. The connections between them went back then!

I’m gonna win this fight. Gonna make her eyes nice and wide.
Then I’m going to show Beck Winters she’s mine.

Lucas was older than her, but he still made his best to win the championship for her, which was really heartfelt!!

And I’m done being stupid about her. I may not be past my prime, but I am definitely too old to mess around. To let important things go unsaid.

——Lucas

Oh!!! Lucas was such a great and gentle big guy, Beck was also a great heroine. Theirs love was super instant. Big guy series always hot me! Each big guy of this series worshiped and cherished theirs girl made me melted my heart!

My husband may be a big, brutal boxer. He may pound his opponents and roar for the crowds. But this side of him, this gentle, secret side… it’s all for me.

I drop my sweater and go after what’s mine.

The ending was really moving with emotional, Beck was pregnant, which was the best surprise for their one-year anniversary! Lucas’s gift for her was horny and hilarious hahahahaha!

Love it! love this series as always!!!♥️♥️♥️

Ever since Beck was a young girl she has gone to the fighting matches with her dad. They would stay toward the back, because some of the fights could be a little brutal. The were all thrilling, to Beck

However, now Beck is a grown woman, and she writes for a on-line newspaper covering sports. She has no problem covering mens sports at all. Especially when they ask for a volunteer to cover the fight, with her childhood idol, Lucas Scott.

Yup, he is twice her age, and almost two and half times her size, but, she’s crushed on him since was a younger version of herself. While at the fight, even before the fight starts, Lucas notices her in the audience. She sit there amongst all men, with her flaming red hair, and smoking body.

But, when he figures out, four days later, that she’s the one that questions his a spark, he is fuming. See why, and how, Beck turns a negative into a positive.
