I want to start off by saying that I genuinely wanted to read/listen to this book, so much so that I put in a request with my local library, asking them to buy a copy of the audiobook. I was thrilled when they granted my request.

As I mentioned on Twitter, I was under no illusions that this was what might be considered a "scholarly" book on witchcraft. What I did expect was that it would be more interesting or entertaining than a blank notebook with "good vibes only" on the cover.

I'm sorry to be snarky but honestly, this book is a toxic positivity nightmare. I'm definitely on board with the concept of trying to put out positivity into the world, but 24/7 100% no exceptions bootstraps-esque Mary Poppins perfection is neither achievable nor healthy.

I realise I'm possibly (okay, definitely) being a little (okay, very) harsh but I've got a headache from rolling my eyes so often during this book and it's made me cranky.

Final note- with the author being a tarot reader, and the fact that tarot is mentioned multiple times throughout, it might have been a good idea to choose a reader who didn't pronounce it like "carrot". (insert Hermione/Leviosa quote...)

Snarky Hazel out.

I get the feeling that the author and/or the publishing house came up with the catchy title before the book was actually written. "Witch, Please" sounds good but unfortunately my main critique offered is that this book doesn't have that much to do with witchcraft or witchy practices.

Several chapters are touching on Gabby Bernstein territory - life coaching and lightworker material that is. One part helps you deal with break-ups, both romantic and friendly, and not by doing spiritual work, no, rather it tells you to not bottle up feelings inside of you. Another chapter tells you to be disciplined and go to bed on time and get fresh air and fresh food daily. Sound advice, sure, but witchcraft? Hmm I'm not seeing it. The parts that mention deities are a bit rushed through and the surface is just scratched, which is unfortunate considering how meaty that subject really is.

On a positive note it's good that the author brings up problematic aspects of the law of attraction (another subject I'd pair with new age rather than witchcraft though) because too often the victim-blaming of that philosophy isn't mentioned in literature. There is a sweet cheerleader style moving as a red thread in this book, and it gets you curious about different crystals and card decks.

But considering how much high quality material there is out there regarding witchcraft, this is not a book I'd recommend to beginners or seasoned witches that are serious on their path and looking for information with substance. Perhaps it could fit a teenager that is looking to dabble in the spiritual world and get a first glance at what is available to try.

I found this book immensely helpful to better understand the basics of witchcraft and demystifying it in a way that was easy to digest. Vix is always no dogma and this book is no exception. If you want to know about witchy things without being made to feel dumb for not knowing what things are, this book is for you. Highly recommend. I listened to the audio and bought the kindle so I could refer to the recipes and methods easier. Enjoyable read.

Excellent book by Vix who shows us how to live a genuine spiritual life of integrity and joy. Many people are seeking Enlightenment in this lifetime but feel it’s not in their reach but this book teaches you how succeed by being a Modern Witch and Mystic. Beneficial read for all levels of spiritual awareness.

This book serves as a gentle introduction to the world of spiritual and energetic practices. She sets out the basic elements of the witchy path in a clear and practical style, with a focus on empowering her readers to choose the practices that are right for them. She is gentle and encouraging throughout. This book is a perfect fit for those who are just beginning their spiritual journey, or who have been practising their craft for a while, and are looking to learn some new healing, clearing and grounding techniques. Vix approaches everything she does with kindness and an open heart, and this absolutely comes across in 'Witch Please' too.

After pre-ordering this lovely book, I only had a quick flick through at the time it arrived. I can't believe I've left it so long to fully immerse myself into it. But, now was obviously the right time as it resonated with me completely. I've been feeling a little off and needed to reignite my magick and passion. This book was absolutely perfect for me and I felt comforted, in fact I felt like Vix was a bff helping me to find my light again and that it's ok to not be ok. The pizza references made me relive my childhood in the 80's with Sweet Valley High books, pizza and ice cream with my girls. This then gave me that lift I was looking for. Sometimes we can overthink everything and this book just helped to simplify it. It also looks very pretty on the bookshelf and I'm grateful to have it and thank you Vix, for shining your magick to help us witches that tumble off now and then, find our way back, and not over complicate our magick.
I am also a hufflepuff!

I hace been a practitioner for a while now. Normally when I read books like this, it's information that I have read like a million times. However this book did have some information that I didn't know about. I loved it, I want to do everything she recommended and have already done a few, I can tell that this will be a book that I will refer to time and time again. Its short, quirky and a cute little witchy book 💜

A nice like introductory book. I would recommend this to anybody wanting to learn a bit more about modern witchcraft. It’s not as pretentious as many can be, nor does it attempt to force one form of witchcraft as being more important than another

Starred this age ago and have no motivation to pick it up again, I think the title held more promise than the actual content for me 🤷‍♀️

I’ve been a part of Vix’s community for a few years now, and this book is a perfect reflection of her energy: gentle, non-judgmental and all-inclusive. Sharing possibilities and experiences rather than telling you what you should do. This book is the perfect guide for people who are just starting their spiritual journey, or who want to add some more magic to their lives. I love the focus on energy/intent and taking action. My favorite part was for sure the second half of the book, filled with practical rituals and journaling/reflection prompts to bring the magic into your everyday life. Which is where the true magic happens!

I would definitely recommend this book to beginner SASS witches.

Victoria doesn't push any specific path in her book and, instead, encourages you to do what feels right to you as she guides you through ways to add magic to different aspects of your life.

I saw that one reviewer mention that they thought this book had "toxic positivity" and I honestly got zero of that from my read through. Victoria goes out of her way to clarify that the Law of Attraction doesn't rule every outcome in our life, but we should use it to be more mindful of our thoughts, words, and actions.

I really enjoyed this book. People complaining that it was witchcraft lite - or they were expecting because of the title - the part after the : says "Empowerment and Enlightenment for the Modern Mystic". I feel like the book is exactly what it purports itself to be. There is a lot of self-care like things in here. Overall I liked the way she presented things. Her writing style is like having a conversation with a friend.

I liked how positive this book was, and how much it focused on doing what you can with what you have, as some Witch books can be a bit classist, but this is a really good book for those starting out in witchery who don't have much of an income and aren't following a specific path. Really great for eclectic or atheistic Witches, I think. I'll def be going back to this in the future.
