This book on meditation is beautiful, thin, and the information inside is easy to grasp. The tale at the beginning grabbed me, the drawings held my attention throughout. Highly recommend. Basic concepts include how habit detaches us from “the now,” how our breath is always with us and is an amazing tool we always have access to, different types of meditation are offered (fruit meditation, body scan). Here’s my favorite part: “Mindfulness is the observation and acceptance of your wandering thoughts. Whatever happens, always remember that you cannot fail at meditation. Mindfulness is observation without criticism. When you are meditating, try not to set yourself a definite goal, such as clearing your mind of thoughts or aiming to become happier or more peaceful or content. These are often by-products of meditation. But if you aim for them, you will miss. It may seem like an annoying paradox, but it is also true. When you meditate, you find what you find.” (Kinda like thrift shopping). Negativity bias is covered as well. I love the new to me concept of the earth breathing! And once the weather improves a bit I’m looking forward to the meditation of looking at the stars while grounding.
