“Never mix business with pleasure,” my father warned me.
Did I listen? No. But now, on a flight to visit my old university mate, Alec McCrae, I thoroughly regretted that decision.
A week ago, I was engaged to be married. Now, I’m single and humiliated. My wife to be, also my business partner, eloped with her ex, and left me, not only without a fiancée but also with a mismanaged, almost bankrupt business.
My parents, of course, berated me. How could I be so stupid?
Now I’m stuck in coach instead of a private jet until I can redeem myself. One thing for sure. I’ll never mix business with pleasure again.
When Baylen, middle son in the wealthy McFann family, discovers that his fiancée has left him, he is devastated and heartbroken. His parents come down hard on him and he escapes Scotland to find business advice from his friend across the pond, Alec McCrae. When Alec presents his newest statistical analyst, Harlee Sumpter, he’s already smitten.
Is Baylen really done mixing business with pleasure, or will Harlee be too tempting to avoid?

I skim read this because I was curious if we’d get any updates on Alec and Lumen since this is his friend and we were left with them so unsteady. Unfortunately for Lumen sitting at book eight, and she’s still just the gf (which is weird because he proposed in the epilogue of 3) quietly standing around in the background while we’re told how solid they seem as her man is bland as ever, but this was a more enjoyable read because…
📗It’s condensed into one book. 📗 The h has a personality and isn’t a pushover. 📗 The H acts like he likes the h most of the book. 📗The meddling OW is actually told off and receives her due.
Bottom Line- It was ok. I didn’t feel like the couple suited each other, but it worked for them, I guess. I skimmed the slower parts, but things picked up towards the end. For me, Harlee was channeling Beautiful Disaster (I think that’s the right book) vibes with
Another great book to the Scottish Billionaire's series! This is Baylen and Harlee's story. Sparks fly at first meet .. in more ways than one. I loved their characters and reading their story. The author takes them on a fast paced journey filled with ups and downs along the way. It's well written with detailed and descriptive scenes and is a great read. Loved and recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Another brilliant book by MS Parker. I love this series of the Scottish Billionaires. They are an amazing Family with extraordinary Brothers, Sisters and Parents. Loved this book. Loved the storyline between Bailey and Harlee. Loved the connection between these two. So happy Baylen has found his love. I just hope that he and Harlee go from strength to strength and that any obstacles his parents present to them that they can just smile and deal with them.
We return to the Scottish Billionaires series and are introduced to a friend that went to University with Alec, Baylen. A few years on and Baylen feels as though his world is crumbling down around him…so he decides to take up Alec’s offer and visit him in the US. When he arrives due to the time difference, he goes out to a local Scottish bar and meets Harlee❣️
One night doesn’t seem enough but he has no way of contacting Harlee after she leaves with no way of getting in touch with her, so he decides to focus on work. However, the woman he can’t get out of his mind is also the person managing his project through Alec’s company, MIRI😳 So much going on in this one but I’m not going to say more and spoil it for anyone…you’re just going to have to give it go - but recommend reading these books in order to get the full benefit of them😁
I really enjoyed this story and seeing how the author integrated it with a few of the other siblings for Baylen’s project🤩 I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
I have been reading M.S. Parker’s books for a while and enjoy them immensely. She has always had a way with writing bedroom scenes (if you know what I mean. I can’t put the s word in a review or I get in trouble) but I really feel like her story telling as improved. Don’t get me wrong, it was never bad, but I just feel like with each book there are more interesting ideas flowing out of her brain and she has gotten better at things like characterization and pacing. This book in particular really captured my attention to the point where it’s now two in the morning and I couldn’t sleep until I had finished this book. I don’t want to give anything away but there are a lot of twists and turns in this one. Have fun reading.

Haylee hits the jackpot with a job at Alec’s company. Low and behold, the weekend prior to starting her new job, she meets a handsome Scot by the name of Baylen! What can go wrong?! Add into the mix Haylee’s “dad” and we have a wild story in our hands! You will enjoy this fast paced book! I am hoping we get more of Haylee Baylen!!

This is the 8th standalone story in the scottish billionaires series. And it is all about Baylen and Harlee. He is a disappointment to his family and Harlee is the statistical analyst and heroine that is going to fix it all. But it's not that easy.

Not a McCrae… but A Scottish Hottie Billionaire all the same
So… although it’s not essential, I strongly suggest that you read this series from the beginning… starting with Alec McCrae’s story, then Eoin and then Brody! They are definitely worth reading and will give you a good background to this instalment. However, with this book it isn’t essential as this isn’t about one of the McCrae brothers but one of Alec McCrae’s best friends and fellow Scottish Billionaire, Baylen McFann.
Baylen is left heartbroken and the apparent disgrace of his wealthy family after he is jilted by his fiancée. Threatened with being cut off from his family for good, Baylen seeks the help and business advice of his university friend, Alec - travelling from Edinburgh to Seattle in the hope of gaining his support and a little clarity to try to resolve the situation he has found himself in.
With his assistant, Brigh, he pitches his business plan and his vision for the future of his product. Immediately interested, Alec agrees to support Baylen with his venture, offering Baylen the use of a new employee to provide analysis and research.
That new employee is a bright, sassy and incredibly smart young woman, Harlee Sumpter. She’s not had the easiest upbringing which has shaped her life to where it is today. Although incredibly intelligent, she’s never had the opportunities that could allow her to follow a path deserving of her abilities.
A chance encounter however see Baylen amd Harlee come together (in more ways than one!) before Alec manages to introduce them as business associates. A one night stand leads to feelings neither of them expected but when they realise that they will have work together, a more professional relationship has to take president.
With Harley’s help, Baylen’s project takes flight and once their business together is done, Harlee and Baylen are free to be together. Unfortunately, that’s not what someone else has in mind. The proverbial spanner is well and truly thrown into the works when damning evidence is surreptitiously placed into Baylen’s hands, immediately making Baylen question Harlee’s intentions.
But when Harlee’s safety is under threat, It’s Alec that makes Baylen look closer at what he thinks he knows and look at what his heart tells him.
This is a great story… one that I wish was longer. I want an epilogue because I really want to see where this pair grow and become the success they deserve. I’m hoping that we might get to see what happens to them in future instalments about the McCrae family.
Baylen is one gorgeous human being and if anyone like me has a love of Outlander, just hearing that Scottish accent in my head does all kinds of fuzzy stuff to my insides! I don’t know what it is about that accent but it’s just so sexy! And Baylen is such a sweet person, that sometimes it’s his downfall. Being nice doesn’t always pay… it allows people to take advantage of his good nature. I loved him from the start and apart from when he has that stupid lapse in his judgment… but otherwise he’s bloomin’ gorgeous.
As for Harlee.. she’s different but awesome. Tattoos, piercings, dyed hair and a unique style - she’s not your usual leading lady type, but that’s probably why I like her so much. She’s not perfect… she has insecurities and worries about how she appears to others - yet in other ways she’s confident and self assured. Yep, I really like her.
All-in-all a great instalment that as I’ve said I actually wish was longer because I want to see where their story leads them.
Baylen is at his wits end! He’s lost his fiancé. His business has barely started. His family has no faith in his abilities, cutting him off from financial support and threatening to completely disown him. He needs to find a way to make his new product work and show the family that he is not a disgrace.
Haylee has worked hard to get her life together and be the person that would make her Mom proud. She is very good at so many different things that she has a difficult time deciding what she really wants to do. She hasn’t managed to stay a job for more than a year before she is bored with it. Now she has a opportunity to works for MIRI using the one thing she loves…numbers.
Haylee and her best friend decide to celebrate by going bar hopping . Jin’s on/off boyfriend suddenly appears. The 2 girls perform a couple of songs on stage with the live band and are a big hit. Baylee finds himself drawn to the woman who just came off the stage, just a 1 night stand, stress relief, nothing more. He’s here for business that’s all. What could possibly go wrong?
Baylen and Harlee. Quite explosive. I loved Baylen. Polite, gentleman, strong but oh so easily stunned into silence by the wild, sassy Harlee. She would kiss him senseless and turn around to find him dumbfounded. Cute. Baylen comes to Seattle to pitch his bra line after his fiancee and partner left him high and dry. His parents shamed himas of it was his fault alone and cut him off. He believed in the product, and so off he went to the USA to an old college friend for advice and help with a plan. He was not going to fail again. He met Harlee when he came to a bar for a drink. She was the tattooed, blue streaked hair up on the stage rocking a guitar and singing. She was just up there as a fun gesture by the band, but she killed it. Living in foster care as a teen, music is what she feel to. Nowadays she floats from job to job but. Living life not quite satisfied. Her dad is a con man who quite literally left her after a con job failed, and he let her take the fall. Hence, the foster home. These two meet and boom explosion. Fun read.
M.S. Parker writes some amazing stories and her series are top notch. Business or Pleasure is once again another great book with steam and the push and pull that makes her readers keep flipping those pages wanting more and more! Baylen and Harlee's fight from one night stand to HEA had me hooked until the very last page so Business or Pleasure I definitely recommend! Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I also purchased the book/read with Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited opinion with my voluntary review.
Didn't enjoy this as much as some of the previous installments, it was OK but starting to see a trend of regardless of what goes on they all just kiss n make up straight away (in this one they literally had sex, argued n fell out everytime the wind blew and then 1 word and they were forgiven and having sex again) ... Plus excessive amounts of unusual names bordering on the ridiculous... I'm all for unusual names but when every person in every book has one it starts to get a bit odd.
I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book but I have to pay £7.99 a month for the subscription)
It wasn't that I didn't like the story because I loved it. I loved the whole love story of Baylen and Haylee. But, every story I have read so far has been about the McRae/Carideo/Gracen clan. I suppose in a way this is somewhat of an extension, since Haylee got her job because Tuesday talked to Alec at MIRI and Baylen was Alec's closest friend in college in Glasgow. To me, the other stories built themselves up, over 2 and 3 books. This love story which I really do like just feels rushed to me compared to the others. I don't know, I think I feel like maybe part of Baylen and Haylee's story is missing somewhere.
He swore to never mix business and pleasure again. She struggles with leaving her past behind. Their attraction is instant, but obstacles stand in their way. Will they find a common ground? Will they find out who the enemies are?
Have to say these two were hot together. I loved how he was sweet and sensitive, but in the end determined to do anything to he could to keep her with him. I didn't blame her for struggling, but loved how she knew herself and was determined to take a chance. Good read!

Baylen goes to the States to spend some time with a good friend, Alec. While there, he talks about his business ideas, and how he can move forward. He hasn't had much luck when it comes to love, until he meets Harlee one night. They both sense that there is something between them. Though they have their ups and down, they struggle through them to see what they could have together. What will happen when the time comes for Baylen to go home to Scotland? Will they still be able to find a way, or will circumstances keep them apart?
He swore to never mix business and pleasure again...... She struggles with leaving her past behind.... Their attraction is insta-love as well, but obstacles stood in their way.
He was sweet and sensitive, but in the end determined to do anything to he could to keep her with him. She was always struggling, but she knew herself and was determined to take a chance. ........
This love story between Baylen and Harlee...... is considered a stand alone so you don’t have to read the other books but to know about the characters....... they were mentioned but rarely back in Alex's book I think............. definitely not a reason to start with Alex's books but ..... Alex is brought into this story ...enjoyed the love relationship and it felt believable. This was good book for being a stand alone, not cheesy or too over the top.... The author woke up or returned to her writing ways...
Great to have another Scottish billionaire book! This is another family, Scottish through and through mIddle son Baylen, not following family rules, runs to US after family abandons him. He meets a woman totally different and this book is their wild, funny adventure and romance!
This was a great read. This author has brought us a love story between Baylen and Harlee. This was a stand alone so you don’t have to read the other books but to know about the characters that has been mentioned you might want to read them first. Can’t wait to see what this author brings is next
Love those Scottish billionaires!! Baylen and Harlee, what a couple. This is part of a series with recurring characters but a standalone romance. Lots of mystery and suspense and just the right amount of love scenes. Certainly keeps you turning the pages! Great story in a marvelous series by an outstanding author. Bring on more of those Scottish billionaires!!
I started this book had nothing to with the other before but was wrong each previous book help how Alec was able to help Baylen. This book gave faith in how your past doesn't determine your future
M.S. Parker includes finding oneself, The One, and love and in one delicious romance. Truth no matter how it’s found can bring relief, life, freedom, and love together in one fell swoop of a romance. I was hooked.
I enjoyed all the characters in all of the books. I also liked how each of the couples problems were worked out. I can't wait to read more of about the Scottish clan hopefully soon.
I really enjoyed this read. Could have done with a tad more Scottish lingo, however the few words here and there gives the reader a flavour of the main characters roots. The love scenes are so well written that even the reader gets the tingles.
It was so good but the ending was lacking for me. I really wanted to see Scotland. This was a 4.5 that could have pushed me to the 5 star. It needed to include the parents for me but otherwise I thought it was engaging, delightful, full of fun and drama, hot sex, and a beautiful love story.
4.25 Stars I didn’t think this series needed a non- McCrae leading male and unknown star. However, I was wrong. Brining in new blood and a fresh plot were what this series needed, especially at this time.
Very good read. Held my interest from the start. I kept trying to guess which direction the story would take me and I was surprised every time. It has romance action danger and kept me interested.
Fabulous book, kept you guessing what was happening next. Fabulous author Looking for more of her books. It helps with a visual hot man on th cover. 5 *****
I was initially disappointed that it wasn’t one of the siblings. However the story was great and as captivating as the rest of the series. Peppered with enough of the siblings to keep it on topic. Don’t hesitate to read it fits perfectly with the series.
