That being said I love nirvanas music and grudge music from the nighties in general, it has such a unique undertow vibe. It seems like outside of the band boys era the grunge anti establishment musical movement was the last real great creative peak in the American music scene (excluding rap hip hop). Anyways I love that rawness, that sadness, that realness and when you hear nirvana on the radio there is no possibility of mistaking who it is. It’s unfortunate someone so talented and fearless to be himself was taken to soon. But a legend was born.

This book has a lot of great photos and would make a great table top book if there’s a hard cover version. It’s not a traditional biography of the artist but an amassed grouping of articles to show tribute to his life. It started with a strong intro. personally I don’t believe in suicide for some reason I can’t wrap my head around it completely, but I assume you don’t truly understanding suicide till you are prepared to do it. twice in my life I was depressed enough to see how people are lead that way, but I still don’t understand how one can knock on your own deaths door, I certainly would not have the balls to do so. Overall the book is a good read each article gives an interesting insight because it was written in the time it was originally published. If your looking for something that dives deep into his live or has a clear chronological order I’d suggest another book, because this is not that. This book is much more surface level and a broader few of the music scene he was a part of. Starting on page 64 an actual interview with Cobain, I thought it was very telling and so far the best article in this book. If you read anything in this book you must read that article it will really have you thinking.

I had not listened to any music in nearly five years before reading this book, because it was so painful for me to even think about music, any music, because it was once something I loved that reminded me of people I loved of memories I had, of a world and reality that wasnt true, that used me. I guess in a way it is fitting that the nirvana catalog is the first thing I end up listening too. Reading this book answered some concerning questions I had but has now left me with others. But after reading I have a much greater appreciation for Kurt Cobain. I can really relate to growing up on a town like he grew up in, and feeling like you don’t fit or belong anywhere, and no one really knows you or ever did.
