The hunter becomes the hunted as Ross, Tobias and Captain Spencer fight for their lives against Spencer's creation. But all is not as it seems, and Ross still has a chilling truth to face.
Good conclusion, very touching end but I still feel the build-up was a bit slow for my liking. Maybe I would not have minded this much if all #5 were combined in a single book, instead of splitting it like this and making it available as standalone in Prime.
This is the final installation in the Hailstone series, it follows the Sheriff and Tobias as they get to the bottom of the mystery in the basement of the Army's factory and the missing people in their town. Basically, the army has been experimenting with new ways to win the war and has created this super beast who eats people alive, and the Sheriff's son might be part of it. Overall, this was a great ending to the series, everything got wrapped up in an appropriate time. Nothing super outlandish happened. Overall, an enjoyable series.
Whilst this was a nice ending (with a kinda bittersweet twist) I wish there was a little more to the story. I enjoyed it well enough and I really loved the art but it would've been nice to see some more development in these characters and some more backstory to the whole thing. Obviously it's very short so there's not much space to work with but the conclusion felt super rushed compared to the slower pace in the first few issues. Overall it was pretty enjoyable but not exactly memorable.
When I was imprisoned in that place, Spencer showed me an awful future, Lucy. It was made by horrific monsters, endless suffering and fear. All this for power. But when Tobi came, and saved me against all the odds, he showed me a different future. One where freedom doesn‘t come from new weapons, or wars.
Hailstone is a a mix of historical fiction, horror, science fiction and suspense.
We enter the town of Hailstone as winter sets into and find that townsfolk keep mysteriously disappearing in the woods.
The Sheriff has managed to once again sneak into the Army's munition factory and captured by the General and his men. The General has turned mad scientist and has created hybrid animals crossed with machines. The missing piece of the puzzle is a human brain to control the monstrous creation and the Sheriff is next in line to be used! Can his Deputy or a group of the townsfolk rescue him in time?
This was a good finale with some twists and turns that I didn't see coming at all. 5 stars.
Všechny předchozí issues byly na čistejch 5, u posledního dílu malinko stahuju a to čistě protože ta série si zasloužila mnohem hlubší rozpracování a konec tím malinko trpí. Neříkám to často, protože drtivá většina komiksovejch sérií by potřebovala spíš zeštíhlit, ale Hailstone by slušeno mnohem víc issues. :) Pro mě obrovský překvapení. Skvělá, atmosférická záležitost s dokonalym artem. Co víc chtít.
A surprising series of Western comics with absolutely sumptuous art. People of the town of Hailstone are going missing and it is up to Sheriff Denton and his deputy, Tobias to figure things out. The town exists in the shadow of a Civil War munitions factory and the animals available to hunt have reduced to nothing in the third harsh winter since the factory went up.
The art is the stand out in this series, but the story doesn't slouch either. Definitely worth your time.
Essa é uma história de velho oeste, mas com um viés um tanto frankensteniano. Uma combinação perfeita entre suspense, mistério e melancolia. Deliciei-me com os traços e as cores de cada quadrinho, que saltam aos olhos e tomam vida por si só.
Its nit just this book its the whole series , sloppy. Weak story fair art , fair color and character connection. Its a free series but remember free is almost never ever good.
Bittersweet ending to a weird [not in a good way] long, overdrawn melodrama. More or less satisfactory ending and I am glad to be done with it. No sense of completion but just a vague uneasiness.
