This is the second installment of the author’s trilogy series concerning the Tanner family’s wagon train trip along the Oregon trail. This book takes the Tanner family from Independence Missouri to across the Rocky Mountains. They encounter most of the familiar stresses from such a journey such as extreme climate issues, interactions with native Americans, food supplies, disease along the trail and so forth. The father, Noel Tanner, has a particular problem as he is headed west in part to avoid paying outstanding debts in Missouri. Of course, debt collectors follow and search for him along the Oregon Trail. The characters are a bit to stilted in my opinion. They behave in formal and expected ways. They are not unique people. The supporting cast is not well defined as individuals. The dialogue is simple and a just the facts kind of communication. The adventure could have been imbued with more tension and suspense. Again, everything was just a bit too straight forward. No plot twists or unexpected behavior and reactions.

Great Oregon Trail Western
First Book by this author. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Even though it was about traveling the Oregon trail, it actually dealt more with the families instead of the trail journey. A lot of lessons were learned and the people who traveled the trail grew up and learned about themselves. A really good book to start the series.

This second book in this Oregon trail series focuses on one of the families in the wagon train, the Tanners. The story examines friendship, trust, and family. At the same time, readers are further entertained by the toils and tribulations endured on the trail. The story is engaging and moves along at a swift pace.

The Long Trail West
Another excellent western from William Tresler. Lots of action, including a kidnapping, a rescue, Indian attacts, and family interactions. Was hard to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Would highly recommend it!

An awesome story about the Tanner family along the Oregon Trail
This was an amazing story about the Tanner family and the friends and community they made while traveling along the Oregon Trail to Oregon. The author wrote an excellent plot with very descriptive characters.

Not your usual shoot em up. It moves along pretty good. The characters were realistic. I am looking foreword to the next book.
