Tsugumi Ōba (Profile in Japanese: 大場 つぐみ), born in Tokyo, Japan, is a writer best known for the manga Death Note. His/her real identity is a closely guarded secret. As stated by the profile placed at the beginning of each Death Note manga, Ōba collects teacups and develops manga plots while holding his knees on a chair, similar to a habit of L, one of the main characters of the series.

There is speculation that Tsugumi Ōba is a pen name and that he is really Hiroshi Gamō. Pointing out that in Bakuman the main character's uncle was a one-hit wonder manga artist who worked on a gag super hero manga, very similar to Gamō and Tottemo! Luckyman in all aspects. Also that the storyboards drawn by Ōba greatly resemble Tottemo! Luckyman in style.

The most boring fight in the history of fights is finally over and the last chapter caught my attention so I hope next volume will go back to a level we know Ohba and Obata can achieve.

I agree that the last few issues were boring and iffy, and the fight was boring and at all the places, but here we finally have some developments and a few revelations come forward that may make next issues a little bit or much more exciting but let's see how it goes, though I must say the art is good. So let's go on and Keep on Reading.

I have always loved comics, and I can and I have. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more. You should also read what you love, and I hope you will always love it. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.

Platinum End, Vol. 8 continues where the previous tankobon left off and contains the next four chapters (24–27) of the on-going manga series.

The tankōbon concludes the match between Mirai Kakehashi as Red and Kanade Uryu as Metropoliman, during their shoot out, Mirai Kakehashi discovered that Kande Uryu was already under controlled by a red arrow, but he is unsure when he was hit. Metropoliman could have been under the influence of someone else recently or the entire time.

With his dying action, Nanato Mukaido killed Metropoliman, since Mirai Kakehashi was under the influence of the red arrow by Nanato Mukaido, he couldn’t stop him for doing so. Soon after, Nanato Mukaido succumbed to his cancer and died fulfilled that he has prevented one such as Metropoliman from becoming God.

Mirai Kakehashi and Saki Hanakago are alone in their quest now without the leadership of Nanato Mukaido. The night of his death, Mirai Kakehashi revealed to her that Metropoliman was being controlled under the influence of a red arrow and the person controlling him is still out there.

With the deaths of Kanade Uryu and Nanato Mukaido, it brings the death toll of the God Candidates to seven with six other still living. Tonma Rodriguez, the comedian was quickly killed off earlier in the series, Shogo Hatakeyama, Saburo Tabuchi, and Chiyo Nakayma were killed when Metropoliman made his reveal to the world at Jinbo Stadium. Hajime Sokotani was killed by Metropoliman during the final battle, with Kanade Uryu being killed by Nanato Mukaido, who succumbed to his cancer.

Tsugumi Ohba has written another wonderful tankobon. It showed the climatic conclusion to the Metropoliman arc and an introduction of a curious character that was controlling him – the second picture that Nanato Mukaido took during the Jinbo Stadium storyline and the person wearing the Donald Trump mask. Now that the Metropoliman arc is done, I am quite curious as to where the story would lead in the next tankōbon. As always, Takeshi Obata's art is simply amazing and accentuates the text rather well.

All in all, Platinum End, Vol. 8 is a wonderful continuation of the series and I can't wait to read more. I am intrigued to find out how the story continues.

2.5 rounded down.

It was moderately more interesting than the two volumes before, but it didn't wow me. Again it just kind of felt anti-climactic.

Death Note felt like the stakes were high, this was largely in part to a one-against-the world story at the outset. I think Platinum End's problem lies in that here are too many 'powerful' characters but then each character also feels extremely shallow in depth.

Mr. Nanato Mukaido you'll be remembered for your courage and selflessness.

But ... the one-on-one duell between Metropoliman and Mirai was quite underwhelming.

Definitely a better volume compared to the previous ones. Unfortunately my favourite character so far is now dead so that's that :) at least some new plotlines are moving in the background

The one-on-one between Mirai and Metropoliman comes to a climactic conclusion

Now, with only six candidates remaining, there's no obvious villain and no obvious choice for the new god.

This series has 14 volumes.

Cover says it all.

With Mirai not wishing to kill Metropoliman the two of them are getting closer to one another as their duel crawls to a finish. Mirai is in for a surprise though as he discovers a secret to Metropoliman that requires more drastic actions to save the lives of others in one of the goriest books of the series so far. Don't expect a whole lot of conversations as the actions amp up and those that survive must deal with losses each in their own ways. Of course with the Metropoliman story now over our next opponent is now ready to fulfill their own plans as the war for godhood continues on. So much action and so much feelings in this volume.

i'm in one of the biggest shocks of my life. i actually can't believe that they killed kanade.. reading that part i was like "nah, there's no way, like we are in the middle of the manga", but no!! they really killed him. and the GOAT of the series also died... noooo!! my man... what are we gonna do without you?? :((( the manga took an interesting turn after kanade's death, but wth?! i don't get it (yet) why would hajime's angel help the trump masked boy?? the ending was, as well, very captivating with the angels meeting. what are they up to?

This is where I stopped reading this manga. Just more slow paced battling with next to nothing happening and an angsty antagonist. Also the ideological aspects thrown in are truly lame, they're so simplistic and the political tones kept pissing me off. I put this down after finishing 6, but coming back I really regret it. Nothing significant plot-wise has really happened, it just feels like a bland shounen.

I received my copy of Platinum End, Vol. 8 from the publisher through Edelweiss+.

This was an emotional volume. The battle that lasted I don't remember how many chapters finally closes, Mukaido passes on, and a kid starts controlling Kanade. What will happen next?

I think this was one of the better volumes of this series after the last few have been, in my view, weak.

This story started going downhill two volumes ago and the descent continues. I had no idea what was going on for the majority of this volume as there was no dialogue in most of the panels. And what I did see was unnecessarily gory. This series has an interesting premise, but I think Ohba-san is running out of steam. I also don't appreciate the political statement he's sending.

Well...not much to say here. One of the problems with killing your main antagonist before the series is over is you have to quickly establish a new conflict for which the series can end on. Oh yeah, and now that they've killed the one character I like...well, good luck going forward.

Kanade or Metropoliman is finally defeated by the gang. But, the news isn't all good as Nanato passes away as well.

After the overly-drawn out battle finally ended, the plot progression really picked up! I loved the way this volume ended.
