Submission went live today. SUBMISSION came to me when I realized that the only one of the “heroes” in the Masters of the Savoy series that wasn’t supernatural was Gabriel Watson the head of security for The Savoy. So my logical mind said, “hmm, that must mean his ‘heroine’ is.” One of my favorite female characters in history is Anne Boleyn. I decided she deserved her own happy ending (pun intended!), so I gave it to her. I loved writing this story—it was so much fun.

She has watched through the veil for centuries… now it's her time to escape.

Denied her happily ever after, Anne Hastings has waited almost five centuries to pierce the veil and find one for herself.

Gabriel Watson suspects Anne is in trouble when he sees Anne entering the Savoy with Rachel’s friend, Saoirse. He wants to know who she is, why she’s checking into the hotel with no luggage and why she’s meeting with an infamous forger?

His friends Roark and Holmes have settled down with two beautiful mischief makers. Gabe figures whatever they’re up to with Anne can’t be good. And he’s right. Anne is on the run from two men who will do whatever it takes to drag Anne back—the Warder of the Veil and the Angel of Death.

Gabe has to solve the mystery that surrounds Anne before she is pulled back into eternal darkness and torment. But time is running out.
~~~
Welcome to the opulent world of the Masters of the Savoy, where the men and women might be a little different - more than human. The men appeared out of nowhere one day determined to grab life and looking for love. But watch out ... you never know what darkness lurks in the shadows.
Author note: Submission is a mystery romance with steamy heat in and out of the bedroom for mature readers. Each book in the series is standalone with no cliffhanger endings.
THE GAME IS AFOOT
Ms. Delta James has penned a unique and page-turning series of paranormal events and characters. The story will have people from the first book, but this one will mainly focus on Gabriel Watson, Head of Security for the Savoy Hotel, and Anne Hastings. The story is the third book, and I would strongly recommend reading the two, to fully understand the unique characters and concept—because this continues into this book, without over-telling from the previous stories.
“Never surrender yourself to the notion of love. It does not exist.”
The story begins May 1536, Greenwich Palace/Tower of London, London, England; Anne Boleyn’s marriage to King Henry VIII has been annulled, and she will be put to death. False accusations have taken several men to their death, and she will be next. But, Anne, being the lady queen she is, is regal to the very end. Rather than go into the Light, she remains in the Tower of London—waiting for the day she can escape.
“One day, she vowed, I will leave this place and live the life that was denied me. One day, I will be free.”
Saoirse Madigan, a witch from Ireland, knows something big will happen and decides she must go to London. She will contact her friend, Rachel, to make arrangements to stay at the Savoy. Her visit to London will also have her going to several places to purchase items, especially Ye Olde Coin Shoppe. While she is there, she meets a woman trying to sell a few coins and convinces the proprietor to purchase them. She then takes Anne Hastings to tea and then with her back to the Savoy.
“Obviously, I don’t know you. But I know who you are, or were, once before. There are few who wouldn’t notice your likeness, but only those of us who can feel the disruption in the planes of existence would know your true identity—Queen Anne Boleyn. I swear to you, I mean you no harm and will help in any way I can.”
Anne: No one else can know, I broke free, but I am not sure they won’t be looking for me.
Saoirse: All the more reason to let me help you. Because I’m a witch. Because you have fascinated people for centuries. Because you found a way back from the other side. Because, well, why not?
The story was a fascinating paranormal tale with romance. It will have another person from history defying the veil and crossing back into life, and I love the artistic liberties by Ms. James. Sage, Rachel, and Saoirse are not shocked but thrilled to help Anne. Sage has connections and makes arrangements for forged documents that Anne will need.
Saoirse: I think that you are a woman whose life was cut short and who defied the odds and found a way back. I think you are extraordinary.
When Gabriel Watson meets Anne, he feels a connection, and he is determined to get to know this enigma named Anne, but she prefers to avoid men, having been used, abused, and beheaded by them. He is determined to get to know her.
Anne: If you are offering to take me to dinner, Gabriel, I would like to go if you promise to behave like a gentleman.
Gabriel: And if I don’t?
Anne: Then I shall have something to look forward to, will I not?
“One of my downfalls, I think, was pride. I will take all the help I can get and be glad of it.”
The good, the bad, and the evil will play their roles. Death wants Anne, be it with the Warder of the Veil or Azreal, the Archangel of Death. With Anne’s presence, the others need to share the truth with Gabriel—especially how Roark, Holmes, and Felix materialized. When he is told the truth about the three men he calls his friends, he feels betrayed, and anger takes over, kicking everyone, including Anne, out. Will Anne give up and accept defeat and death? Or will the friends fight for her and convince Gabriel that love is worth fighting for?
“If anyone knows about injustice and how power can corrupt absolutely, it would be the beheaded wife of the monster known as Henry VIII.”
The story has matters of life and death due to paranormal entities, a strict, take control Dominant, some punishments, and sizzling hot explicit sex scenes. It does not end on a cliffhanger but gives the reader a satisfying conclusion. And it won’t be the end in this series; I look forward to the next installment, Contract in January 2022, featuring Saoirse Madigan and Felix Spenser.
“Submission” is part of the excellent ‘Masters of the Savoy’ series by Delta James. The books in the series are paranormal mysteries with plenty of suspense. If you’ve read other books in this series and think you know what to expect, think again.
As the book blurb tells you, Anne is a woman who was denied her “happy ever after” centuries ago. She’s been biding her time, existing in the shadows between life and the hereafter - waiting for an opportunity to grab a second chance at living life on her own terms. She has a strong, justifiable distrust of men. Gabe is a man who made one big mistake in his life but managed to make for himself a second chance. He’s really maximized that second opportunity and built a good life for himself. As Head of Security for the Savoy Hotel in London, he utilizes his intelligence, experience and instincts to keep things running securely. All of those qualifications are telling him that something to do with Anne is not quite right. That feeling is further complicated by other feelings he immediately has for the woman … much more intensely personal feelings. Anne is as strongly attracted to Gabe as he is to her. She doesn’t know what to do about it. As much as she wants to be bold and act on those feelings, she must also protect her secret.
I think the author does a terrific job thinking of things that would be obstacles for a person in Anne’s situation. A separate issue about Gabe and his friends that’s been referred to throughout the books in the series also becomes a factor in this one; it’s an issue that finally gets resolved, and it couldn’t be at a better time. As the tension builds throughout the story, you keep wondering how it could possibly all work out. Have no worries about that, because the ending of this smart and steamy story is excellent.
OMG, it's like Delta James just reached in and gathered one of my favorite characters in history and LITERALLY brought her back to life with such grace, style, and aplomb. Before I go into this review I'm going to recommend, if you haven't done so already, to read the first two books in her "Masters of the Savory" series, 'Advance' and 'Negotiation', not because it's required but because of the uniqueness in the development of her characters and the storylines so it will better lay the groundwork for this one. Most everyone knows, if not the details, the fact that Anne Boleyn was King Henry VIII's wife who was beheaded. Imagine getting to meet her in person, not by going back in time but because she has found a way to slip through the veil and have the life that was stolen from her. All the small nuances from history wrapped into a BDSM romance while the Warder of the Veil wants Anne to return and go into the Light and Azrael, the Archangel of Death wants her punished and taken to eternal darkness. Then there is Gabriel, aka Gabe, head of Security at the Savoy and the only one who really doesn't know the origins of what he considers his best friends. Ms. James, take center stage and a bow for a well-deserved standing ovation because, as brilliant an author as you are, you have truly outdone yourself this time. Thank you.
Wow wow this is just a fantastic read! Gabe and Ann’s story is a page turner from start to finish. How Delta weaves this story about Ann , Henry VIII beheaded wife, into this series is nothing but magical. How they get together and find their HEA makes for a wonderful story
This is the third book in this series. I highly recommend you read the first two books as it will introduce you to all the characters so far introduced. Anne Hastings is Queen Anne Boelyn, one of Henry VIII's beheaded wives. She felt cheated of a life and vowed to find a way to escape the veil, that place between life and Light/Dark.
Anne has prepared for her escape for over 500 years. Once she does, she encounters Saoirse, a witch introduced previously, while trying to exchange some coins she had sewn into her dresses in preparation for escape, one way or another. Saoirse recognizes who she is and brings Anne to the Savoy and calls on Rachel and Sage to help Anne navigate her new life.
Gabriel is the head of security for the Savoy and when he meets Anne he feels a connection to her and pursues that relentlessly. For her part, Anne wants nothing to do with men as they have used her all her life. She was nothing but a pawn to them.
The two quickly get together and the race is on to protect Anne from the Warden of the Veil, who wants to take her to the Light and Azrael, the Angel of Death, who wants to take her to the Dark. All Anne wants is a chance at life on her own terms.
I really enjoyed this next book in the series. The author writes such strong female characters who only submit to their s/o. I think this is the draw of these books for me. I also like that the male characters are dominant, but still care and listen to their submissive. There is a hint of the next book in the series that will tell Saoirse and Felix's story.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Another fantasy ride with a twist 😍
Wow. This series has been taking me on quiet an unusual journey for sure and I've been loving every moment of it.
I'd been wanting from book 1 for Gabe to find his lady love. The only man among the gang who's not of supernatural origin and he gets his lady who is not even from this time era.
Anne has been bidding her time for a chance to cross the veil once and for all, for a chance to finally live the life she was denied at her own terms. The only twist is that she is Anne Hastings, 2nd wife of Henry VIII from the 15th century.
When Anne finally gets the chance to cross the veil she takes it even when the warder of light warns her against it, warning her of the consequences. But Anne is adamant that she deserves a second chance at life.
What she didn't expect was the kindness of Saoirse to not only help her but also gives her shelter and other necessities. But more than anything through Saoirse she meets the most amazing group of people who would become her friends and the man who would give everything she'd been yearning.
I loved to experience through Anne's eyes all the modern day things and experiences and how it felt to know such luxuries. Also I felt Gabe and Anne were perfect together. Especially where Gabe teaches Anne the D/s relationship. For someone like Anne who's never known or owned her pleasure, Gabe gives her everything and more.
AHH.. This series is freaking fire and I can't to dive into the next book. Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A totally captivating read that leaves you riveted right up to the last page
This is the third book in what I think has been a simply wonderfully, innovative read about a collection of paranormal experiences and animals and the arising investigations and characters involved.
Anne has been alive for centuries and she has been keeping herself to herself hoping that she will get a chance to have a second chance at a relationship, love and also living a life where she called her own shots. Gabe is the head of a security for the Savoy which is a very respectable hotel in London, he calls on his experience and his intuition to ensure that he keeps his hotel safe and sound for other guests.
Anne is very attracted to Gabe and yet she finds her inhibited nature prevents her from actually doing anything about it and she is worried that if she fails to act, she will miss the opportunity to go out with this very desirable man.
I do not want to give away the plot about this story and so I hope that you will enjoy this book as much as I had, I love the books that this author writes and so I loved every single moment of this book and am sure that you will be as entranced by this book as myself.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
Ms. James has obviously done her homework as another historical figure makes her appearance. The series already features multiple names from the beloved Sherlock Holmes series, but now someone who truly live appears!
None other the Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn. We are taken from her tragic death in 1536 to current times when she runs into Saoirse who recognizes who and what she is. One thing leads to another and Anne comes to the famous Savoy hotel where she meets Gabriel. Hmmmmmmm…..
I am really enjoying this series. I am so in awe of the imagination it took to come up with the whole idea of Anne Boleyn, King Henry, the Void, the Warder, etc.
Not only to create the characters, but put them all together in such a way that I started reading and didn't put the book down until I was done. I started reading, wondering at the same time what path is Delta James taking us down this time?
I was relatively sure that it had to do with Gabe, but I can never be sure with this author. Gabe and Anne had such good chemistry. Their back and forth banter was sexy and entertaining.
I will stop here because I don't want to give anything away. Other than to say the storyline becomes even more interesting, and I wish the book had been longer. 4.5 Stars!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
A fabulous read with a snapshot of history
Loved this book. Anne was a perfect heroine and she certainly deserved Gabriel. If you have an interest in history this book in particular and the series in general are a great read, along with the supernatural elements, love, lust, sexy dominant men and stunningly not quite so submissive women. Really looking forward to the next in series.
This is book three of the Masters of the Savoy series and this time, another person manages to come through the Veil on All Hallows Eve, after five centuries left in the Void, after refusing to be taken into the Light after her gruesome death. She has hoped to travel through the Veil and enjoy a full life, without being forced to live a life a man forced her to. Saoirse, an Irish witch, knows something has disturbed the balance and may have come through the Veil and so calls Rachel Moriarty and arranges to meet her at the Savoy, where their friends Sage and Roark live, Felix and Gabe Watson work and Michael Holmes visits, being friends with the other three men. Roark, Holmes and Felix are all previous characters in Sage’s novel and Roark was the first to break through the Veil, when Sage’s life was in danger, with Holmes and Felix following shortly after. Even though they all helped Rachel deal with a dangerous situation when she was taken over by the spirit of Jack the Ripper, in the last book, Gabe Watson doesn’t know that the three men came from the Veil and are not real people as such! Holmes and Watson are best friends, with Holmes feeling so guilty that he can’t tell his friend Gabe the truth about himself, as others are also involved.
Anne Hastings is the woman who has escaped the Veil and is spotted trying to cash in some old coins at a shop Saoirse was visiting. Saoirse takes Anne back to the Savoy with her and up to her room, having already figured out Anne’s true identity. She calls Rachel, who is a historian on that period, and she is shell-shocked to meet Anne. Gabe is the Head of Security at the Savoy and spots Anne coming in with Saoirse and is immediately struck by Anne. He can’t get her out of his mind and wants to see her again. Who she is and what her background are, is an absolute mystery to him. He is also a Dom in the D/s world and part of the Baker Street club, with the other men, who have now found their own sub to love. Roark has married Sage and Holmes has Moriarty, with Gabe beginning to feel the lack of connection to someone special of his own. Felix likes Saoirse, but she lives and works in Ireland and doesn’t seem as interested in him, but they are both as bad as each other with their signals! Gabe catches the women out in a lie one night, when he should have been having his first date with Anne, as they had a different agenda for the evening and had to recover some of Anne’s jewels from a secret location.
He figures out they were up to no good and leaves Rachel and Sage to be punished by their Dom partners, while he deals with Anne, and Felix keeps Saoirse in his office. Anne had sworn she would never be with another man ever again, after her past life, but she is soon drawn in the world of Gabriel and the others and her attraction to him is out of this world. When Anne comes clean about a message from the Warder of the Veil and the danger to those around her from the Angel of Death, who wanted to claim her for the Darkness, Watson finds everything difficult to believe. Anne isn’t the sort of woman to take rejection well and she has nothing to live for it Watson cannot accept what she is. Watson and the gang will have to chase after her and fight with something Watson has owned for years and has magical powers in itself, if they are to stop the Warder and the Angel of Death, and allow Anne her new chance at life. A great look back at history from the female at the time, as well as a steamy bit of Dom/sub romance being introduced to Anne, as well as modern life and all the technology and changes from her time to now. Only Felix and Saoirse to go now and I can’t wait to read about them. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Anne Boleyn was executed by her husband Henry VIII for treason and adultery in 1536, and entered the void, where she was met by the Warder of the Veil, who wanted to escort her to the Light. She refused, making her way back to the Tower, saying she wanted to watch her daughter Elizabeth ...and 500 years later, she is still watching, seeing the changes in the world, knowing one day she will escape through the veil...and on All Hallows Eve, Anne made her escape from the Warder and the Angel of Death. Saoirse was traveling into London, meets Anne Hastings in antique store, but knows immediately she is Queen Anne...helping her convert some old coins to modern money and asks her to the Savoy...She and Saoirse go to the Savoy, where she meets Rachel, Sage, Gabriel, Roarke, Felix and Michael...Gabriel is very interested in Saoirse's friend, but he was tongue-tied for the first time in his life...and Anne found Gabriel to be a fine specimen of a man with his warrior-like body...but she knows Azreal, the Angel of Death is coming after her...but how to defeat him and keep her new para-normal friends safe...the only one who didn't know about these para-normal events bringing the men to present day London was Gabriel, who believed he had known the men for years from Baker Street Club and the Savoy...but when he finds out their secret, can he help keep Anne in this dimension or will she be taken back through the veil??? You will need to read this tantalizing spirited tale by the incredible Delta James to see what happens...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Queen Anne, Henry the 8th's wife was beheaded by him and finds herself in the "veil" awating her chance to escape the light. She wants her chance at life even though the warden of the veil continues to urge her to go to the light. Making good at her escape to freedom and life finds her in need of direction and assistance to survive in the modern world. Saoirse the witch, gives her all the help she can with assitance of the lady friends already involved in the mysteries of life surrounding certain others in residence at the Savoy. Gabe, head security for the Savoy notices the odd happenings around Saoirse's room and her new friend Anne and is very interested in the beautiful, unusual woman. All while the warden of the veil continues to try to convince Anne to return and go to the light. Gabe also has some secrets that will be revealed as Anne finds herself in danger. The story is interesting, the attraction Anne and Gabe feel is exciting and they get to find their perfect match with each other eventually, while each yearns for the other. Gabe wants Anne, but on his terms, she must submit to his directions and she does it gladly, she's finally experiencing sex that isn't just for procreation and to service the man, she finds completion, orgasms and fulfillment with Gabe that she never had before. The Masters of the Savoy have another successful couple to add to the friends already established at the Savoy and I can't wait for more.
Loved this story and the whole history of Anne told from the the woman's point of view. This is also Gabriel's story.
Anne has waiting over 500 years to finally rejoin the living, breathing people of London. She has listened and watched for 500 hundred years. When she pierces the Veil and becomes a living, breathing woman, she must adapt and quickly before she stands out too much or calls attention to herself. Saoirse recognizes Anne for who she is, the former and beheaded wife of Henry the VIII and befriends her knowing she will need help and quickly tries to get Anne up to speed on how things are done in the 21st century. Gabriel has also taken notice of Anne and has become extremely protective and possessive of her...even he doesn't exactly know why but the dom in him won't back down and pushes his determination to claim her even further, even though he has only known her for less than 24 hours, his mind is building a life with her and even he is puzzled where the thoughts are coming from. Even more puzzling to him is the mind twist when he finds out about who she is as well as who his friends really are....but also make him wonder about himself and who and what sets him apart from other mortals.
So, so good...loved Gabriel and his take what he wants..these are the rules demeanor and loved Anne's spunkiness and regal attitude going from almost girly to queen attitude in a nano second. Loved it! I am voluntarily leaving a review.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Read
Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2021
This quirky paranormal romance is bound to intrigue readers. This is one
of the most unusual books that I have read, and it captivated my attention
from it's beginning in 1536 to present day. I can't help being impressed
with Ms.James level of imagination. It has all of the characters from the
previous two books, but this is Anne and Gabriel’s story. Anne’s fight to
find her way through the veil is finally over. Her previous life was one of
subservience and injustices, she now has to make a new life in strange
times. Her enjoyment in the simple pleasure was satisfying.
I can't help but feel that Gabe’s anger was justified as he struggled with
the truth not only about Anne but also about his friends. He was a proud,
honest man, and he felt betrayed. The attraction between Anne and Gabe
was instant and undeniable; he could no longer fight his feelings.
I loved how strong the women are in this series, but they were not afraid to
lean on their dominant partners. There is mystery, danger, evil forces trying
to reclaim Anne, elements of BDSM, and steamy sex scenes. All make this a
fascinating read.
Title: Submission
Author: Delta James
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romance, Paranormal Mystery, BDSM, D/s
Standalone: Yes but even better when read in order
Part of a Series: Book 3 is Masters of Savoy
POV: Anne, Gabriel
Steam Level: Hot
5/5
I've pretty much been bunging this series. I love both the historical and paranormal aspects of these books. In Submission Queen Anne refused to travel to the light after her beheading. Instead she remained in the in the void for 500 years, waiting and watching until she could make her escape back into the land of the living. I enjoyed the humor of Anne learning to function and speak in modern times - learning technology, innovations and how to use contractions. The couples from the previous books are secondary characters in Submission and you don't have to have read their stories but, if you do, you know why they're comfortable with the unexplained. It's also fun to see Gabriel's reaction to Roark and Michael's roots/backstory. The Masters of Savoy is a fun series with great worldbuilding and memorable characters. I love the steam and humor throughout.
Anne Hastings was denied her happily ever after and has watched through the veil for almost five centuries waiting to pierce it to get one for herself. Gabriel Watson suspects that Anne is in trouble when he sees her enter the Savoy with Rachel's friend Saoirse and she checks in with no luggage plus she is meeting with an infamous forger. His friends Roark and Holmes have settled down with two beautiful women and Gabe figures whatever they are up to with Anne can't be good. Anne is on the run from two men who will do whatever it takes to drag Anne back - the Warder of the Veil and the Angel of Death. Gabe has to solve the mystery that surrounds Anne before she is pulled back to eternal darkness but time is running out.
I loved this story with the identity of Anne, the attempts to keep it a secret, retrieve things for her and then the great reveal with Gabe which didn't go well initially. I loved the emotions and introspection of the characters which were easy to feel and empathise with. I loved the attention to detail that author paid to the differences in language over time. This story contains mature content some of which were of a BDSM-like nature of the D/s variety.
Delta James is a new author for me and after reading this book I am very eager to read the earlier two in the series. In saying that, I still found it easy enough to read this book without having read the previous two in the series to follow.
Loved how Delta used historical facts regarding the early English monarchy of King Henry and his Queen Anne into the story. How much is fact and fiction, I don't mind as it is still a great avenue for introducing readers to history. Great characters with such variety and the D/s relationships just gives the story that sexual genre as well as the sense of mystery involving other issues.
I will admit when I first started reading the story I was a little concerned with the time period it was centred around but quickly it moved along to modern day and I could see how interesting it was really going to be. Again I think another concept that drew me to this book was the idea of the group of friends and how to came together.
On the day of her beheading, Queen Anne’s spirit did not go into the light as was expected. She chose to stay within the veil until the time she could escape and have a chance to live the life she was denied after her marriage to King Henry VIII. After 5 centuries, Anne is able to escape on All Hallows Eve and make her way to London where she meets Irish witch Saoirse who recognizes her immediately and takes her under her wing.
Once Gabriel Watson, Head of Security at the Savoy Hotel in London where Saoirse is staying sees Anne it’s love at first sight. Too bad the Warden of the Veil is trying hard to get her back to the Tower of London and take her to the light before Azrael, the Archangel of Death finds her.
Can Saoirse and her friends band together to save Anne so she can finally have the life she deserves...
I have to admit I was sceptic when I started to read this story, but it actually worked quite nicely. After cheating death, crossing the veil and coming back to life more than 500 years after her she was sentenced to death, Ann Hastings finds herself in the 21st century. The last thing she was expecting was to fall for a man, after she was betrayed and cheated by the most important men in her life.
Proud and strong, Ann swears she will never submit to any man ever again, but sometimes life throwers you a curve ball in the shape of the gorgeous Gabe Watson. After seeing two of his closest friends fall in love and enjoying the bliss of matrimony, Gabe can't help but feel a bit envious. Fate has intervined and had him meet the mysterious Ann.
But he never would have imagined in his wildest dreams who she really is...
This story takes you on a wild run while incorporating historical facts so the end result is both fascinating and fun.
A good addition to the series!
A captivating read that pulls a famous historical person believably into a paranormal romance series. The 3rd book in the Master’s of the Savoy brings Anne Boleyn through the Veil into the 21st century. She is befriended by Saoirse who recognizes her and brings her back the Savoy. Anne is quickly befriended by Sage and Rachel who assist her in acclimating to the 21st century.
Gabr catches Anne arriving at the Savoy with Saoirse and is immediately intrigued by the beautiful and mysterious woman. Gabe’s interest is reciprocated by Anne, but their road to a HEA involves Gabe finding out who Anne really is as well as the truth about Roark, Holmes and Felix; and a battle with the Angel of Death.
The suspense and intrigue captivates you from the first chapter through the final word. This is a wonderful addition to a stellar series. I’m eager for the next one already!
Good
When Anne steps through the veil, she’s hoping for a better life than the one she endured before.
Meeting Saoirse, an Irish witch, she’s shown a world she never dreamed of, and introduced to Gabriel Watson, the one man that can make her rethink her “never again” attitude, but will the guardians of the veil let her stay?
Book three features Gabriel Watson, who was the one male in the quartet of Savoy friends who was NOT a fictional character at first, and his heroine Anne was once quite famous…
A little longer than the first two books, this one takes its time to get the romance going, leaving the supernatural showdown for a small section near the end.
Anne isn’t quite as likeable a character as Sage and Rachel, but the story is still entertaining, and the premise intriguing.
An enjoyable paranormal romance book for readers who like PNR with a little BDSM thrown in.
I loved this story by Delta James. This series just keeps getting better and better. I love all the characters. I really enjoyed seeing Gabriel Watson and Anne Hastings find each other.
Anne Hastings was once a queen before her husband, Henry VIII turned on her. She goes to her death with dignity because she wanted to protect her daughter and others who were loyal to her. Instead of traveling to the Light, she decides to stay in the Void until she can return to life. She wants a second chance. She waits five hundred years. She never expected that she would meet a man who can change her thoughts on them. Gabriel knows that there is something more to Anne than she is telling him. That doesn't stop them from getting closer. When secrets are revealed, will they be able to work things?
I received an ARC from the author/publisher for an honest review.
What a great story. This is by far the best of the series titled – Masters of the Savoy. This is book 3 in the series and the premise of this story is so unique. Where else can you read a book about the unjustly beheaded Anne Boleyn for crimes she did not commit. She was a strong individual and that strength allowed her to finally cross the veil into the current world - 500+ years after her death. The attraction between her and the Savoy’s head of security Gabriel Watson is quick. Their attraction is further complicated because Gabriel does not know the truth about his Anne or his friends. Anne who wants to live her life as she desires is also being held to account for her decision to not cross into the light after her death. And it come to their friends to all work together to ensure that Gabriel and Anne will get their happy every after.
And while I have loved the previous books in this series, this book stood out for its uniqueness of a female character. Ms James continues to expand the paranormal romance genre with these unique stories. It is a great read and while it can be read alone, I would highly recommend that you read the previous two stories in this series as it will make this story that much more enjoyable for you.
I received a copy of this book from BookFunnel in exchange for my honest review.
Once against is All Hallows Eve and something unforeseen is happening at the Savoy. Four friends, Roark Samuels, Michael Holmes, Gabriel Watson and Felix Spencer are closely associated with the Savoy in London. Two of them, Roark and Holmes, have found their soul mates involving abnormal and arcane situations. As Gabriel Watson contemplates if his friend Felix will be next to meet his life partner, Fate is planning something very unexpected for Gabe. Gabe, an ex Marine US Marine Raider, is head of security at the Savoy. Anne Hastings suddenly appears at the Savoy under suspicious circumstances and Gabe wants answers. What takes him by surprise is the powerful attraction he feels for Anne as soon as he meets her. Otherworld forces are at play and we are led on an amazing journey through time and space…..an entertaining and diverting story!
Fantasy/paranormal isn’t really my thing but I fell in love with this series when I read the first book. I am a bit uneasy about using historical people as characters in a modern setting but then movies do it all the time so why not authors. For me, Anne makes this book because she is so feisty and yet charming. The author definitely glosses over the problems with language because even though Anne spoke Early Modern English it still was quite different from our everyday speech and would take more than a few days to be able to use our slang and shortcuts plus understand them completely. I love the next to last scene when they are trying to buy Dungeon appropriate clothing. Anne really is a great character. As my title says it is a very entertaining story.
This is the 3rd book in the Masters of the Savoy series by Delta James and wow what a book! In this on you will find Anne the beheaded wife of Henry the eighth. She has waited almost 5 centuries in the void to break free on All Hallow’s Eve. She meets Saroise, while trying to exchange some coins. Saroise recognises Anne, helps her with her exchange, takes her to her room at the Savoy and then introduces her to Rachel and Sage. This is where she meets the Savoy Security leader Gabriel Watson. This is their story! Their chemistry is totally off the charts, now sit back and read how this amazing story unfolds! Brilliant work, my only regret is that Delta didn’t write the history books I had to study at school!! I would have passed with flying colours!! I definitely can’t wait to read the next book in the Masters of Savoy series..
