Eh volume 3 felt mostly filler

Although it did set up many things for the future so I'm not mad. I think the other two volumes would be better. I guess the excommunication part was interesting, finally some conflict for Iris.

Also we got to know more about Yuri. I would be surprised if she isn't a spy to be honest.

Anyways the volume was mostly boring, and I think the author realised this as well, and threw in the whole she's now considered a sinner fiasco for more tension.

Well it worked soooo

This is the strongest volume of the series to date, as it really explores the differences between Iris now and Iris in her previous life. I also love how it works with the idea of history being written by the victors - and in the game Iris was reborn into, she's the villainess when it's very clear by this point that Yuri, the purported heroine of the game, is the real bad guy. It's still a little on the dull side at times, but the series is improving with each novel.

Iris has come out on the other side of every threat to her wellbeing with the help of her family and those she trusts most. Now she faces a few new threats, and one of her closest friends and personal guards asks a question not even she expected. Is Iris truly ready to defend the duchy with everything she has? It’s something she has to think about while she faces the fact that she’s in love with Dean and that someone is plotting something right under her nose…

This time around, we see the aftermath of Iris overcoming being excommunicated. It’s open season on her, but between her own abilities and the people she trusts most at her back, she’s not one who will easily be taken down. This was a fun read, but I think my favorite parts ended up being when we see a different person’s perspective. I do think Dida’s perspective was ultimately lacking, but I still enjoyed seeing it.

Overall, this was a good read, but the ending rolled through so quickly that it was a little short on the details in some areas. I was hoping for more details there, but it is what it is. All in all, I’m excited to pick up the next book and see where we go next. We got a smidge past where the seventh volume of the manga adaptation left off, so I’m excited to see where Iris and company go next. I’m also hoping that we’ll start to rotate perspectives more often as well as seeing if there’s anyone else reincarnated into this world.

Absolute LOVED it and I want MORE NOW! I really like how we get into the head of more of the secondary characters, even Yuri that evil woman!

Amazing series and I can’t wait to see how we get to the HEA. (There HAS to be one, right? RIGHT?!?)

I haven’t read all the manga yet, so that will have to tide me over until the next light novel is out!

5, why do I start series that aren’t finished yet, stars?

We see how Iris continues to navigate through the politics in the kingdom while we find out more about the really Lady Yuri and her motivations in all this. We also find out some secrets about who Dean really is. Lots of interesting reveals and backstory for various characters. I can't wait to see what happens in the next volume as the players in the political chess game make bolder and more aggressive moves.

Just when Iris had overcome threat of excommunication she now has to also face the possibility of War. Iris struggles with if she has what it takes to order her people to defend their land. It doesn't help that Yuri has already gotten the topic on whether to dismantle the kingdoms armed forces putting the kingdom of Tasmeria into jeopardy as well as possible conflict with their rival country Tweil. I really enjoyed this volume as I feel like Iris grows even further by asking herself the hard questions of preparing her duchy for war.

This novel shines with the support of all the people who helped Iris and her determination to protect her duchy, as well as the value of trusting in her comrades who help lead her in the right direction. This volume also also brings the return of Iris's old classmates Van and Dorssen who humiliated her and led to her exclusion from high society. Iris is then put into a situation of can they change or will they continue to follow blindly and be puppets of whoever holds the strings?

At the same time this also leads these characters to question some of their actions and how they handled Iris. But has she truly changed? Or is she still the villainess they perceive her to be? Will this questioning cause them to grow or buckle down on their old ways? It definitely gives a good insight into their thoughts and motives. Whether they believe or not Iris continues to play the game of politics getting her duchy in order as well as coming to a conclusion of what her feelings for Dean are. This novel seems to solidify Dean's point on where his feelings stand while Iris has also reached the conclusion about how she feels for him they both face this in different ways. But ultimately Iris and Dean managed to become closer as they share a tender forehead touch as well as some words of encouragement for Iris's growth. At the end Iris settles the latest drama of the duchy but Yuri is also making an appearance showing her motivation with the foreshadowing of their plan finally being put into motion. Promising further chaos in store for our heroine. All in all a lot of interesting backstory as well as a new character being introduced. As political game of chess intensifies I'm already excited to get my hands on the next volume!

Today's post is on Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter, Vol. 3 by Reia and illustrations by Haduki Futaba. It is 269 pages long and is published by Airship. The cover has Iris, Dean, and a new character, Glaus on it. As it is the third in the series, you need to have read the first two volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes political stories with a very light dusting of romance. There is no foul language, no sex, and very mild violence in this novel. The story is mostly told from first person perspective of Iris with some added scenes from other characters for plot growth. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Life and Death Lie in Her Hands.
Iris overcame the threat of excommunication, but now she faces something far worse. Why, then, is there talk of dismantling the kingdom's armed forces? As iris desperately shores up her duchy's own defenses, she must answer a questions from one of her closest companions, Dida: "If it comes to war, are you prepared to order us to kill?"

Review- This volume has more politics than economics. Iris is trying to put everything back to together after the false accusation by a corrupt priest with Yuri behind it. Iris has her full and is not thinking about the capital or the royal family but I think that they will be soon coming to her with Yuri at the lead. Dean/ the first prince is trying to secure his power seat before making his move. Iris is having to use more of her power to make friends with some of the local power players in her duchy. She is also having to think about what would war mean for Armelia and its people. We also see more of the villains who live mostly in the background and what is driving her. I am looking forward to reading the next volume and seeing what Iris has to deal with next.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this light novel with my own money.

So... am I surprised that Yuri turned out to be a White Lotus after all? No, not surprised; they did a decent job of foreshadowing it last volume. I am disappointed, though. I like the "reincarnated as the villainess" stories, I do, but my favorites are absolutely the ones where the original female lead does NOT turn out to have been secretly evil the whole time.

On a better note, I am really glad that they are not going the route of "Yuri's former reverse harem falls in love with Iris". For one thing, one of the members was Iris's brother, so that would have been weird. For another, it's refreshing. They had their reasons for not liking her before, and even though that was partially motivated by Yuri's manipulations, it's still their own prejudice and their own way of thinking, and there's no magical switch flipped after a new consciousness entered the body.

(There was a tiny bit of a switch in Alfred Dean, when we're told that he knew Iris at the academy and wasn't impressed, but the reveal that they had spoken before her engagement and the implication that he liked her even then helps to smooth that out. The only thing that worries me about that plotline is that she just declared her love for him - to herself - but she doesn't know who he is, because he's hiding it from her. He has his reasons, but it's going to be such a mess when the truth comes out.)

We get to see Dean's sister in this installment, who seems to get along rather well with Iris. Iris, of course, has a seemingly never ending array of challenges facing her. Fortunately, this seems to have gone off rather well, though it's clear Yuri and Divan are plotting more. Dean and Iris continue to grow closer together as well, to the point where both seem to recognize their own feelings, but refuse to admit them to the other for various reasons, each believing that it's best for them both. Fortunately, it appears that even the majority of the town and the duchy are back on Iris' side now that the previous excommunication issue has been resolved, though it was rather surprising how she chose to deal with the government officials that had not been doing their jobs since the announcement was first made.

Not a huge fan of down to earth novels like this series, but i enjoyed the story throughout. This volume was the best of all three - we finally get a side story of Yuri, although not much. The entire character cast comes into play and ties the story up together. Here, the FL's management and leadership skills shine.

Towards the end, the author really portrayed the strong feelings of FL. Although the transition from the end of the war to the ending scenes were too hurried, I was satisfied with the story end.

Volume 3 in the series.

I really enjoyed this volume, as we get further insight from Yuri's stance and more of her true nature comes to light to the readers.

Along with this, former classmates of Iris appears, partly questioning their actions in the past, to which they are questioned by their new actions, whether it is to ease their guilt or not.

I also really enjoyed the actions between Iris and Dean as their relationship (of sorts) begin to change(?).

I look forward to the next volume!

This book was a really good addition to this series. I love all of the background we're still getting while still moving the plot forward and introducing new characters. There were definitely more sweet moments between Iris and Dean , and while there were a lot of moments that had my heart pounding, it's obviously hard to follow up what happen in Vol 2. Overall, this was an amazing book that I didn't want to put down (once I got back into reading it again).

No big progress was made compared to the second book.
This one feels more like a filler for the upcoming installments, with a lot of info-dumping.
At least we got to see what Yuri is scheming.

I love this series so much.

The politics, the characters, the storytelling… it’s so compelling!! I just like it a lot, okay?

A soft start with the first book, but this series really gained momentum with the second book and continuing onwards. I’m very excited to see where this series goes.

Iris continues to expand her reach and a more violent confrontation is presented as she investigates a harbor town's gang. The forethought into issues really makes Armelia seem like a real place and Iris's struggles all the more sympathetic.

This book has an intensity the others don’t. The threat of war, the need to prepare, and the possibility of life and death. Truly the road is twisting and turning for Iris as she has to handle it all and register the possibilities of sending her friends out to war to possibly never come back

I loved how we got to see a bit more about those who support Iris and I hope that we continue to do so. The periodic change up in povs are refreshing and fun.

I’m definitely enjoying this series. Seeing Iris’ growth is really gratifying and the political maneuvering is fun to read. Can’t wait to read the next volume and see how the tensions get worse

Having survived the plot of the Holy Church, Iris immediately sets out to repair the damage, partially in the capital and partially in her home domain. While nothing major happens in regards to the plot, we do see some solid character development for several of the characters including Iris and some of those originally involved in Iris' downfall at the Academy and a few titbits on what is happening behind the scenes. While it is clear there is depth and darkness to people within the story, I still feel that Iris' does have a bit of an easy time or at least an excellent sense of character in her hiring practices. I really enjoyed the volume and I am looking forward to how things develop.

I am reading light novels (some isekai, some not) where the main character uses their knowledge as their primary driving force (civil service-How a Realist Hero.. , Engineering- Release that Witch!, tax code and accounting - Accomplishments of a Duke's Daughter) instead of raw power. I greatly appreciate that the main character has no supernatural abilities (in fact, I have seen none in the series yet). I am enjoying this and look forward to finishing the series in the next few weeks.
Plus, the knowledge is realistic... it is not impossible for someone to have a hobby of making their own soap/shampoo/etc, and enough knowledge of chocolate to get a baker to work out a lot thru trial and error.. I also appreciate that time is passing (as in multiple years in the first book) as opposed to things happening absurdly quickly. I look forward to finishing this.

Addendum 2025 - A few weeks back, a whole lot of light novels were free for purchase on Audible. One of which being this series... so while driving around for 8-ish hours, I listened to this book... which of course lead me to re-read books 2,3,4, and 5. I find this series very nice to re-read, as this was my third read thru books 1-5 in slightly over a year.
