Who Can I Run To

Rate this book
When tragedy strikes, it hits hard, and Chantrice Leonard is still reeling from its blow. Life just isn’t the same, and she’s doing her best to rid her spirit of the grief she feels by submerging herself in work. She believes that as long as she keeps busy, she won’t have to deal with the loss she’s suffering. However, a family dinner, in which she meets a man that was impacted by her loss as well, forces her to face it head on.

Being an overcomer is just part of who Orion Gentry is. Positivity pours from him on a daily basis, but it doesn’t mean that his life is without struggles. Having a severe medical crisis takes a toll on him mentally and physically but he doesn’t stop trying to be the best version of himself. While there are weak moments, he maintains his focus on a positive outcome. But when he meets a woman directly connected to his lifeline, he falls immediately and knows that his struggles have not been in vain.

Chantrice and Orion meet and sparks fly, but the premise on which this meeting occurs makes Chantrice feel as though she wants to attach herself to him for the wrong reasons. Orion refuses to give up on her and allow his destiny to willingly walk out of his life. Will Chantrice stop overthinking and just go with the flow, or will she allow her reservations to control her heart?

Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

If you’re looking for a pallet cleaner after one of your toxic, high anxiety emotional reads, this will do the trick. This was a really cute read with minimal angst! This was a wholesome feel good hallmark movie type of story and I really enjoyed it!

Chan was a daddy’s girl through and through! At the big age of 33, she was the apple of her fathers eye and she was his. After a tragic trucking accident claimed his life, she was beyond heartbroken and life as she knew it was forever changed! 6 months after her fathers accident, Chan’s mother received a call that the donor recipient of her fathers heart wanted to meet them. Yearning for a connection to her father no matter how small swayed Chan to agree. This meeting would be the start of a beautiful union and I often found myself blushing throughout the story!

Orion lived with a hereditary heart condition that progressed as he got older. After living with a L-VAD and remaining on the donor recipient list for two years, he finally received a second chance at life! He always maintained a positive attitude and never took life for granted, even more so after his surgery! He was something like a social media influencer in a sense that his page helped to motivate and uplift those also experiencing dark or depressing times in their life! After meeting with Chan and her family, he knew that he found his future wife!

Chan’s four year old Kirsten stole the show and had everyone wrapped around her little finger! There was a bit of baby daddy drama in this Insta love story but if you want to feel like you’ve been wrapped in a warm blanket then add this book to your TBR! Without a doubt it Seems legit 😏

Succcccchh a cute and heartwarming story!!!! Orion Gentry meeting the family that donated a heart to him, fell in love at first sight with Chantrice Leonard! Orion didn’t even know that Chantrice was smitten with him first. I loved Kristen, Mama Steph, & Kenneth! Although Papa Gentry & that Harley were clowns in the beginning, I’m glad they came around and got it together! There’s nothing like an adult, especially a man that knows how to take personal accountability & ownership for their actions!

Either way, although there was drama, this was like a grown up, adult story! I loved that there was conflict but resolve of said conflict! As well, there were many lessons in this book, on life, mental & physical health, relationships, partnerships, etc. I don’t know about anybody else, but whatever, & I do mean W H A T E V E R Mrs. Monica Walters puts out …. Tuuuuuhhhh I’m R E A D I N G it 😅🤣!

Chan x Orion

This was surprisingly good. I honestly did not mean that in an offensive way. The couple immediately fell in love. Almost a love at first sight kind of thing. In a span of 3 weeks they were throwing the "I love you's" at one another and dealing witha bit of hardship in their union. So after that I was kind of afraid of how the rest of the story was going to go, cause everything happened so fast and in the beginning of the story. So I was surprised the story was able to keep my interest. It flowed super easily and nicely. The drama was minimal, almost nonexistent. Chan was grieving and was having a hard time coping, but her grief brought somebody in her life that was godsend. Orion knew the moment he saw Chan, she was his future. Convincing her was the hard part. This was a super cute love story. I didn’t trust Harley for nothing. Even after he explained everything. I still don't think I trust him. But there was one little inconsistency in the story other than that, cute read. And the way the author wrote those sex scene, she only solidified, confirmed that big girls do it better. Chan was thick, she was curvy and she was nastyy 😉
I think this may be my 1st read by Monica, def not my last.

Miss Monica! You really pulled the heart strings on this one! I really felt for Chan, after her devastating loss! She was slowly spiraling, and having a tough time dealing with her grief. Orion, was an angel! This man exuding confidence, love, and support for others while dealing with his own serious health issues. When Orion met Chan, I saw those old cartoon characters in my head. You know the ones where the guy sees a beautiful woman and his eyes pop out of his head! 😂 That is what I imagined Orion's reaction was to Chan. The attraction between the two was immediate, and they both wondered, have I found the one! I loved how laid back, kind and vulnerable Orion was, but don't get it twisted. He was ready to buck if the situation called for it! It took Chan a minute to get out of her head, but she knew that this man was special, and she could not let him get away. Little miss Kirsten was a doll! Good job! 👍👍👍

I'm running to Orion

First and foremost, the story highlighted the struggles many folks from our community with complicated medical issues. The way the story wasn't about a pity party, but a man given a second chance to live, and meeting the love of his life. Orion had my heart aching with this one. Then there was the ex- the ex needed to go sit down somewhere and take his loss like a gentleman. Aight... And baby girl had me laughing most of the time she had something to say. Overall, this was a good read.

Near to my heart

Orion and Chan, I always find myself loving Monica’s books and this was no exception. However, I really loved this one a little but more because of Orion first having had an L-VAD and knowing the struggles my godfather has and may continue to have with his (he is not a transplant candidate); plus I follow Cliff and had been before this book so it all really pulled together in a magical yet real way for me. Back to the storyline though, I loved the unconventional way in which they met and I loved the innocence of K baby. Kids truly have a way of seeing through people and at the same time being truly forgiving little souls. I hope we get to see more from Chan’s cousin and Orion’s brother huge hint hint to write their story Mrs Walters. Thank you for writing great books with relatable characters and hot and steamy sex scenes.

Beautiful ❤❤❤

I've never read such a heartwarming book in my life. Going through life you will discover that real love isn't always pretty. Life will hit you like a freight train, and real love will help heal every broken place... repairing each crack. Orion lived every day like it was his last...choosing LIFE regardless of his circumstances.

This was a sweet standalone. Chan and Orion were destined to be together even though tragedy and heartbreak are what brought them together. They made something sad into something beautiful. They were both overcomers. Like the saying, "Check on your strong friends" implies, even the strong can grow weary. People can look amazing on the outside but we have to take care of hearts and minds, too!

The Arms of Orion

I loved this story. I love Orion so much. He is not the usual bold, alpha male that Monica writes so well. He is a little more laid back, but not afraid to turn up. Monica finds ways to connect with her audience and make them feel seen and
heard with each character she writes about. Chantrice and Orion really two well written characters and their story is a joy to read. As usual, Monica continues to elevate her mastery of the pen with each book.

Touching, as always!

Monica has a way of storytelling without all of the excess angst and foolery! “Who Can I Run To” was no exception! I’ve been looking forward to reading this story since she gave us the backstory to her muse. I was not disappointed. I loved this story and it may make it to my top 5 favorites penned by her! I never want to give away any of the plot in the reviews, but I promise this book is worth the read! Highly recommend!! 🥰🤩

Really emotional story,!!

This story was great! It had love, sex, drama and that HEA that I need. Orion was such an interesting hero because he didn't let his illness stop him from anything, including protecting his girls. This author continuously provides great reads and I can't wait for the next one!

Another hit

This was such a great story. I love how the author deals with such hard topics. Chan and Orion were everything. I love the instant connection they had. They were both going through a lot and they didn’t let it make them angry and bitter. Orion was so upbeat and hilarious, no matter what health issues he was going through. He was the perfect man for Chan.
