So I was stuck at home with coved and wanted something new to read to pass the time. Bought this because the cover looked a little like an Elliott Kay novel and was about demons and harems. It was so good I binged all 4 books in under 24 hours and now plan to read them again slower. While the MC is a bit timid at the start the reasoning behind it is legitimate to the story and makes sense. Over the course of the four published volumes so far he does become more assertive as well as OP, but again it is explained well and one of the more interesting mysteries left unexplored/unresolved (so far). I am really loving the depth of characters and cannot wait to see where this series goes. Be aware that this series is explicit and nothing is potentially off the tables.
I tried, I really did. I originally picked it up on literotica where it was originally posted, but the author has done a lot of work on it since then. It really started to hook me in, it has really good writing and the smut is good too.
The trouble is that the characters, especially but not only the MC are just so strange, NOT because of the supernatural aspects. Why did the author choose to make Gabriella the victim of an attempted r@pe/murder? It could literally have been any crime that the MC 'rescues' her from, but that specific one? And then she immediately has sex with him, revealing later that she's been obsessed with him? Nick the cop mentions trauma bonds and YES this is correct...but trauma bonds aren't sexy. This is one of the few harem novels where the MC is clearly, visibly traumatized and has been for a long time and it affects everything he does...like murdering a guy and drinking his blood, then killing a deer to cover it up (somehow this makes sense to the author), THEN having sex. The happy couple want to marry after literally one day together, which in other stories would be a clear indicator of mind control! It was honestly hard to pick who had the most screwed up, nonexistent motives, Gabriella or the MC who even after getting into this relationship, with a supernaturally (hint hint) good looking woman, still wants to have quasi incest with his step sister or whatever.
If you can look past these incredibly strange author inserts, just skim to the sex scenes and try not to think about how all the characters really could use some extended therapy rather than lifelong declarations of love, you might like it.
I am not much reader, nor am i the sharpest tool in the shed, definitely not the brightest crayon either. But I do know what I like and I like books that are easy to follow without the author babbling on about excessive crap. This book is exactly that, easy to follow and NO babbling. The descriptions paint the picture clearly, even the wording used describing emotions is fantastic. As I stated above I am not much of a reader, yet I have trouble putting this down and continuing with my job and studies. The cover grabbed my attention, the title sparked a little interest and the descriptions and flow of the story keeps me reading on.
Thank you Kaizer Wolf for this awesome book. I definitely will be reading more of your work.
As the story gets deeper instead bit of joy with his bride to be and life pardner here is nothing but depth , heart brake and dispair. What would be a relationship of choice as far as his life pardner will.he no choice at all. His life pardner has been infected by a bite and I do not like stories with this particular theme and I.started to think the he was going to.be such as vampires and they are deffinately not to my likeing. He will probably have his name women but such a shitty way. His life partner had her way of thinking bit being around his kind screwed that up. One has no need to tread either to guess what kind of life she will have. If you lime the idea of being g bitten ,turning into whatever the MC is then read on
This gets a 3 from me simply because the writing was technically decent. The story came really close to a DNF for me, as 90% of the book was repetitive protestations of love/rationalizations why things couldn't work out/sex, and maybe 10% plot/story. That works for a lot of people, but I need a MUCH higher story/sex ratio.
Interesting read, the story could be more engaging if the author decided in which side of the coin to drive it, in one side it tries to be an erotic read, with the other it tries to bring the urban paranormal to the front, and although this two elements can work well together they are struggling in this read for prominence. Hope the next books in the series deal with this better.
I really enjoyed the first 90% of this book. The characters and story were great. The problem I have with the last 10% was that it became "how much blood and gore can we add?" I had already setup to read the second book of the series, and I'm now on the fence if I want to continue.
Urban fantasy where the main character, who takes on his true demon form when strong emotion/surprise happens to him is loved by two gorgeous women. This is the plot.
This is a rather good series. Decent amounts of believable chemistry amongst the characters. It is more poly than harem, may be a problem for some. Mystery and intrigue, not much, but enough is added to spice up what’s happening. There isn’t much story I guess for how long each book is, there is a lot of words dedicated to drama, and sex. So much that I would say that the story sometimes takes a backseat for the kink. But it’s still a great long read for those that read this genre for the crunchy relationships, very good to binge.
A good first volume, which covers a very eventful 36 hours or so. As usual, the author spends a substantial amount of time exploring the relationships of the main characters, without adding a lot of unnecessary cast. I was already a fan of this author as Immortal Supers is one of my favorites in this genre, and I think a big part of that is his ability to make fairly believable characters and get me to invest in their relationships. Although, I do find it unlikely that Kai made it through puberty without Serenity discovering his secret. Anyway, there are a lot of potential mysteries and unanswered questions to explore, so I’m looking forward to the rest of this series.
Grabbed this one because I do like some Urban Fantasy. Editing leaves a bit to be desired, but otherwise writing was ok, but the author appears to have trouble deciding what his voice should be. He kinda jumps around, so would wish that he stops flipping and decides which side of the coin he wishes to write on.
Was expecting much more porn-style encounters, but I have to admit the sex was written better than I expected.
Meh read, but not going to buy any more of the author's books.
