Blue

Rate this book
Blue is a forced proximity, forbidden, age-gap romance, intended for a mature audience.

My marriage was a farce—our vows splintered years before my wife’s lips touched another man’s.

A call from my boss overseas asking me to house his juvenile daughter seemed the perfect opportunity to create some distance.

Though Blue Sterling wasn’t the Bambi eyed kid I saved from a burning vehicle all those years ago.

Nah.

She was all grown up.

Killer legs, full lips, and a scent so alluring it made me sick.

Despite holding myself back, my walls began to crumble. She called me cold—she wasn’t wrong. Yet with each day that passed, and every forbidden touch, she seemed to nestle her way into my warmth. Warmth I had no idea I possessed.

Blue Sterling became my devotion. And though tragedy brought us together, it seemed my secrets kept us apart.

Ultimately, I realised it too little too late—the danger to be found in devotion when you weren’t all in.

DNFed at 40%. A sexual relationship between a 17 year old and a 34 year old is *pedophilia* and should NOT be romanticized. No ifs, ands, or buts.

While they may not have went “all the way” while she was a literal child and minor (the love interest literally calls her kid? And internally comments on her juvenile personality?) any form of sexual acts against a minor is…. Once again… pedophilia. Sorry, can’t get behind it.

I completely forgot I even applied for the ARC of this book until it was on my Kindle and I was where tf did this book come from. I don't remember ever applying for this ARC but I do remember seeing the blurb. Anyways that's just a side note. Onto the main shit.

🚨🚨SPOILERS AHEAD🚨🚨

I don't have the patience to write a detailed review but the general premise of the book is that Blue (a 17 yo Miami girl) is pretty traumatized after she suffered an accident when she was 3 yo which ultimately killed her mama. She has panic attacks, anxiety, and nightmares about this incident. Her father is a bit of a control freak who is a complete manwhore so when she got accepted into a college in the UK, Papa dearest set up a 34 yo man who was the other driver in the accident to take care of his partially underage teenage daughter. This man is Nate Walker (the name Nate now associates with Euphoria so yk), he is having marital issues with his wife, who is always paranoid that her husband Nate is cheating on her when in reality it was her who cheated on him. Nate and Blue connected because... Of the accident ig?? I mean I couldn't be too sure. But yes, they somehow fell in love (don't ask me how. Lord knows they don't have any chemistry).

So where are the problems.

Well, the writing is fake deep. It sounded what I would write on my Tumblr account for a Harry Styles fanfic. It has metaphors that made me cringe so hard and maybe I am losing touch with humanity but when Blue was talking about how she's not a "normal girl" I was rolling my eyes back to my socket. Too many inner monologues, and the fact that Blue is 17 in this story and was 3 when she first "met" Nate just made for an uncomfortable storyline. Nate was also a whining bitch that I wanted to punch all the time. His love for his brother was endearing but that's where his personality ends. The main characters lack chemistry and the overall story lacks pacing, editing, and a new author (that's too mean nvm).

I hate giving bad reviews to ARCs but I can't help myself with my reviews. If you don't agree with my review, it's fine. I mean no disrespect to the author or the readers who enjoyed this book, it just wasn't for me 🖤

✨Ima start this off by just saying this was really good and I totally recommend!!✨

I remember being impressed by Jessica’s writing back when I read her debut When I’m Gone, and I was just as impressed by it in this book!!

Blue was such a beautiful character, I loved her so much she was border line rich girl with very little knowledge of the world, but she was also a girl who knew what she wanted and didn’t give up till she had it, which I loved! Watching her have to relive her trauma through her dreams was honestly so painful to see, but it was also another thing that she handled so well!

Walker was a perfect book boyfriend if I do say so myself! Just the right amount of moody and gruff, to the people that deserved his gruffness, but while remaining caring to the people that mattered to him. And watching him grow to care for Blue wow I love!

And the two of them together… hello sp*cy! I loved the f*replay these two were having before they ever even got *ehem* into the others pants. The quick building chemistry and feelings I really loved!

Also the pacing of this book was amazing to me, it didn’t feel drug out or too quick it was just right!

Honestly I’m definitely looking forward to what else Jessica Grace writes!!!

Blue and Walker hold a special place in my heart! I love dual POVs and seeing so much of their internal conflicts! Both Blue and Walker are such complex characters and I loved watching their journey!

Jessica did an amazing job of hooking me on page one. The plot was so easy to follow and so real, which I love! The character development throughout this story was really something special.

Now, THE SPICE! WOW! Jessica sure knows how to turn up the spice in her books and especially in Blue! The build-up between these two was HOT. I love how realistic their chemistry felt.

I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, age-gap, and spice. Thank you so much for the ARC, Jess!.

This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed it, I loved the age gap, the sexual tension and how everything unfolded between Blue and Walker. The story was easy to read and fast paced so I couldn’t stop reading and I waited for them to be together. I loved their chemistry and how they tried to fight their feelings because of their age gap and Walker’s relationship with Blue’s dad.

Blue was only 18 but thanks to her dad’s protectiveness and her mother’s death she had a lot of demons to face and people who treated her as a spoiled girl only because of her last name. She didn’t believe much in herself but I loved her character and how she tried to do what she thought would make her happy.

Walker was amazing too, he had an amazing relationship with his brother Noah and I loved their interactions and how everything he did was for him to have a normal life. I hated everything he had to go through with Sophia but at least he stood up to himself and he was finally able to end their toxic relationship.

Blue and Walker were very different but I loved how they helped each other even if at first they didn’t know it, Blue changed a lot being with him and Walker really started caring about her. Their moments together were the best, especially their steamy scenes and how their walls starting crumbling down every time they were together.

It was a really good story and I loved how everything worked out between them at the end and how they finally found a way to be together.

I love me a good age gap and i will never shrug away from some taboo and nasty reads but when the mmc has known the fmc as a fucking 3 yr old yeah i choose to draw that fucking line. this is giving me flashbacks to empire of desire by rk and i am not amused.

Jessica has a way with words, her writing is poetic, deep and unique. I loved her debut novel When I’m Gone and I have been looking forward to reading Blue. It was so worth the wait. This age gap, forced proximity, grumpy/ sunshine romance is brilliantly written.

Blue experienced a lot in life despite her young age. Her mother died in a tragic car accident that almost took her life too. She had hazy recollections of what happened and suffered from nightmares and panic attacks. Her father, James, treated her like a delicate flower and became even more overbearing after losing his wife. Blue yearned to leave the ‘trust fund baby’ lifestyle and study journalism at a college in London, something she’s passionate about. James wasn’t going to let her go, but decided against it to make her happy. He asked his trusted colleague and friend, Walker to look after her.

Walker worked for James and he looked up to him like a father. When James propositioned him to babysit Blue, he accepted without a second thought. The request also came at a good time for Walker to put some distance between him and his wife Sophia. Their marriage was only a means to secure custody of his younger brother Noah, with no love whatsoever. After 11 years of misery, interrogation and unfaithfulness, he decided to call it quits.

There was a sense of familiarity between them when Blue and Walker met. A magnetic pull that drew them together. As the two got to know more about one another, their perceptions changed. Blue was not the juvenile daughter Walker thought she was, but a strong and brave young woman who went after what she wanted. Walker was not the cold and broody man everyone knew him to be, he showed Blue his soft, gentle and warm side. The thing I loved most about Walker was his little gestures, they spoke volumes and showed how much he cared.

But they were cautious about their feelings, worried that the society would judge them once they crossed the boundary. The tension from all those near-miss moments was very well-built and the payoff was amazing. Their union was the most beautiful thing. You don’t want to miss Blue and Walker’s story!

Blue
By Jessica Grace
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ [4]
🌶🌶🌶 [3]

*I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review*

Blue was everything I could have asked for in terms of a slow-burn/age-gap romance and I truly enjoyed it.

Blue Sterling. Blue, although young, was obviously aged beyond her years due to the life she was forced to live. I loved how she wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted (Nate i’m looking at you). Blue was kind and loving and a little bit sassy. I loved that she pulled out the better/happier parts of Nate. The “think twice” advice/note was seriously the cutest thing ever and I loved it. Blue deserved love and a home and she was willing to work for it with Nate and she ended up finding her happy place.

“You didn’t break me, Nate. Meeting you like this, I think it may have even fixed me a little bit.”

Nate Walker. First of all, older men do it best and Nate did not disappoint. I loved Nate and I loved how relatable he was. I think that his situation was very realistic, having a loveless marriage and a toxic ex as well as dealing with substance abuse? It was all very real and raw and I really enjoyed watching him grow from those situations and allow Blue to pull him from the darkness. I also loved that once he got past his own head and walls he was willing to truly fight for her no matter what.

“Stay, Blue. Let me hold you when it thunders.”

The tension that builds between these two is UNREAL I applaud Jessica for writing a slow burn because seriously I would get so impatient. But slow-burns can truly be the best because the buildup to the fireworks is everything and Jessica really did kill it. She let that relationship grow and mature before they jumped in.

I also loved that they had the history of the car crash, that was a really original element that hasn’t been overdone and I loved the extra connection it brought the couple.

Random element I loved… Nate had a vasectomy. In almost every romance book ever they always discuss the girl being on birth control, which is fine. BUT it is very realistic for men to have a vasectomy to prevent pregnancy too and I loved seeing a book with that representation.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this book. It was a fairly easy read once I was able to connect and I loved the tension and angst throughout the book. I loved that we got an airport scene and that we got some resolve with Blue’s dad. If you love forbidden/age-gap/slowburns
10/10 recommend this book for you!!

Personal Preference Notes:
1. This book has long(er) chapters which I don't usually love.
2. It was a slow burn in terms of when things happen in the book (%/page wise) however the actual time frame of these two is only like 2 weeks. HOWEVER, that should not influence your opinion on this book because the writing is amazing, it just messed with my mind a little bit.

This review contains minor spoilers

Jeez this was really bad. I disliked both characters. They had zero banter and no chemistry, only physical chemistry, so once emotions and love started to get involved between the two MC's, it was not believable. Blue is 17/18 and acts like a kid, which I guess is believable, but it just made reading her inner monologue a total drag. She has that "I'm not like other girls" mentality and calls herself an empath, which I guess shows a lack of maturity that is telling of her age. Walker is 34 and your typical shut-down and avoidant guy with a bad drinking problem. His inner monologue is just douchey, honestly. Lots of calling himself a c*nt and lots of unnecessary f-bombs.
It's just straight-up weird that they met when Blue was 3 and now they are pursuing a relationship once she's an older teen.
Blue's dad was ultimately a pointless character, and so was Sophia. You'd think by how much Blue dislikes her dad and how much Walker and Sophia hate each other, the two side characters would have stirred up way more drama between the couple than they actually did.
With that being said, the plot was lackluster.
Just for pettiness, here are some things that bothered me the most:
Romantic cliches and metaphors that made me cringe, including the use of the infamous John Green line "I fell in love [with you]... slowly, and then all at once" nearly word for word.
The misuse of the term "did a 180" to convey someone doing the opposite of what they planned (the author said "did a 360").
It kinda just read like fanfiction on Wattpad.

i was so excited for this book since i first saw some teasers, and it didn't disappoint. it's the first book i've read from jessica grace and i'm in love with her writing style. i'm looking forward for her next projects, and i'll be reading her other novel soon.

*might contain spoilers*

nateblue is one of the sweetest yet sexiest couples i've ever read. i love how respectful nate was since the beginning because of their age gap, and how their lives were tangled together since she was a kid. the way this fact was portrayed in the book only made the tension between them increase every chapter. loved how he cared for her trauma and she cared for his drinking habits.
nateblue is intense. their slow burn was so well paced that all the spicy crumbs we had only made me seek and hope for more and more. i love a good dom who praises his girl.

blue is a sunshine girl who's often seen as a brat because of her father's wealth (don't get me wrong, she is a brat, but the sweetest one). she's fierce and fights for things she wants, instead of living comfortably in the bubble her dad created for her. i thought she'd be someone completely different and immature, but throughout her development, she proved being the opposite and very caring. i loved her since the beginning, she's cheeky af.

nate is a grumpy guy who's getting his divorce over his 11 year long marriage. he's selfless and adorable, always prioritizing his brother and engaging in this marriage of convenience to be sure he'd be his guardian. he's a hot guy, so focused on his club, yet sensitive enough to see through blue's fears and try and help her face them. he has the biggest heart.

i hate sophia, i won't curse her because what i want to say about her would get me banned from at least half the countries that exist.

I wish there was a higher rating than 5 stars on good reads cuz this book would definitely deserve a much much higher rating.
I’m an absolute lover for forbidden age gap romances, and everytime I find a new one to read I always get excited like a little girl getting sweets. I don’t have much to say except the whole book was just perfect, the right amount of heartbreak, smut, emotions and most definitely anger. Idk how Nate never slapped or wanted to boot Sophia down the stairs cuz I definitely did. That women needs help omg, she has the audacity to blackmail Nate and guilt trip him. No hun no, that’s not how it works. I hope she goes bankrupt after their divorce.
Going into more happy things, I absolutely loved Nate and Blue. They’re chemistry was just off the charts, I could genuinely just sit and read their daily lives. Like they’re so adorable and I just couldn’t get my eyes of this book. Every single chapter had me speechless. Okay but Like Nate basically causing the crash ?? Erm I was gobsmacked. The plot and storyline was put together really well and I genuinely hurt for blue and Nate. They went through a lot but eventually everything got put into place.
Loved Nate’s brother aswell, I’d love for him to have his own book. I’d love to see his point of view from his childhood and to the present.
Couldn’t ask for a better Epilogue, the ending had me shedding a few tears ngl 🥲 (they were very much worth it)
This book has for sure ended up being in my top 5, loved loved loved it!!

SECRECY & SEDUCTIVE!

Blue fed that little piece of me that needs forbidden romance every couple weeks. The age gap aspect of this romance and the secrecy that almost always comes hand in hand had me hooked from the start! It had the perfect amount of everything for me.
Some people don't enjoy the "other woman" drama that sometimes exists in books. And even though I loathed his wife; the drama that she brought to this one created just the right amount of heartbreak and tension.

Blue's desire and determination to extract herself from her father's strict thumb is what places her into Nate's orbit....again! Sometimes fate is fate and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it! I just adored that aspect of their story. I really enjoyed Nate's detached personality when it came to his life. He lived for nothing except his little brother and running Blue Lagoon for Blue's father. Blue penetrated that rough exterior and seeing him slowly give himself over to her and what was building between the two of them.
I just love that Blue got more of him than anyone else ever did!
I loved Blue & Nate when they were Nate & Blue...away from all the facades they put on for the rest of the world.

There are two more people in this world that I sure hope JG is planning to write because I NEED TO KNOW THINGS!!!

I fell in love so deeply with Blue and Walker; their story is one that gave me those feels I always look for while has the enchanting forbidden slow burn between the two!

The pull and chemistry they have >> I love the slight angst between them and not to even talk about the TENSION but even more how there's a much deeper connection than you even at first know about, that maybe their paths were already destined to cross and them become what they slowly begin to be!

And I think my favorite part is them, or more like him, giving into the temptation because damnnn, hehe. I'm completely obsessed and consumed by Blue and Walker, individually and oh boy especially together, it's not even funny. I could honestly read about them forever!

Blue definitely was another great read by Jessica and I can't wait for what she has in store for us next!

I mentioned online that the FMC is 17 and the MMC is 34 to warn people. And the author had the audacity to tell me and I quote “The age of consent in the UK is sixteen so it’s all perfectly legal.”

BRO LEAVES HIS WIFE FOR A 17 YEAR OLD CHILD

You created a predatory male main character wether or not you realize it and bundled it up and hide it behind a romance novel.

I refuse to support this author and her very problematic views on romance and relationships.

Please stop glorifying unhealthy power dynamics and hiding it behind romance and a ‘happily ever after’. There is nothing romantic about this book.

Edit: Jessica Grace is deleting comments on tik tok warning people about the age gap

Didn’t quite enjoyed this book. I started it because bookstagram were you see one scene and it’s a go and read this book and wasn’t my cup of tea. The last chapters were good and what I enjoyed but most of the book was not what I expected. I understand she has 17 and just turned 18 but maybe the way of thinking of the FMC wasn’t for my or the storyline. Also the MMCs way of thinking kind of was a bit immature? Don’t know, just wasn’t for me.

Blue was my first Jessica Grace book, and I enjoyed her writing style.
If you know me, you will see that I love an age-gap romance. It is one of my favourite tropes.

Blue’s mum died when Blue was three, and she is now a 17-year-old girl who wants to be free of her father Jameses cotton wool parenting. James has wanted to shelter Blue as she is all he has left.
Blue is dealing with anxiety, which I felt Jessica wrote well; it’s not easy to write about such a tricky subject. Blue was in a car accident which is how she lost her mum.

Blue gets accepted to Duke University and pleads with her father to let her go; after some thinking, James speaks to his partner In business, Nate Walker, who lives in London, and asks if he can look after Blue when she is in London. Nate is willing to help James out; of course, he would. He sees James as a father figure.

What Nate didn’t count on was how attracted to Blue he would be. He knows he shouldn’t be; she is practically half his age and his business partner’s daughter.
Nate made a deal with James, and messing around with Blue could jeopardise that deal.

Blue is frustrated that she is going from being babied at home to now being coddled in London, although the sparks she feels when she is with Nate are hard to ignore.

I will keep my eye out for more books from Jessica. Maybe James Sterling could get a book. The hot playboy dad 🥵

In the beginning, I’d say the pace was slow, but it picked up in the second half.
The reason for 4 and not 5 was because for me, a certain scene I would have preferred that Nate wasn’t under the influence of alcohol.

I liked the suspense in this novel; it gave the story an added twist.

Reading is subjective. Any opinions in my review are my own opinion. I would always recommend people to make their own opinion by reading the book.

Emotional rollercoaster!

Blue and Nate!! This slow burning book is an emotional rollercoaster... Blue is a young girl with an extremely overprotective father... After a car crash took her mother she felt broken and annoyed at her fathers need to protect her. Walker is blue father James Business partner. And the boy who saved blue from the crash he is also much older than blue... But when she's accepted to duke James forces their paths to cross again! Walker also has a younger brother and a crazy almost ex wife... To say I couldn't put this book down was an understatement, I just needed to know what was gonna happen next. I absolutely loved this book 📖📚 would give it 100/100!
