Good Mystery Lucy's life is thrown into a tailspin when she hears that this warm couple have been found dead. Things go from bad to worse when the rumor mill in Ivy Creek goes into overdrive with insinuations that Lucy's pastries might have been what killed the couple. Lucy knows it couldn't have been her pastries as many people ate them but didn't die. So, if her pastries didn't kill them, who and what did? The culprit was the husband of her friend. He was a very bad guy. I borrowed this novella from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
These books are fast reads, and very enjoyable. Yet again, Lucy is a suspect! What follows is a lovely story, and the characters are also lovely. Loveable. Lucy is a very determined young woman, and I liked Hannah and Aunt Tricia too. Taylor, hm, still not so sure about him, but he seems to be coming around! Recommend! Hard to put down!
A nice, cozy mystery about a baker accused poisoning, a rich couple, and an event. Lucy Hale knows she needs to help the police solve this murder before she loses everything including her own life. Quick clean read.
Lucy's just starting to make a go of the bakery she's reopened after her parents' sudden death, and is finally making money when the wife of a wealthy businessman, Becky Anderson, approaches her about creating the desserts for a charity party she's giving. While hesitant, it's pointed out to her that while everything she creates will be free of cost, it will mean more business for her, so she accepts. During the party, she's given a business card from a Mr. Wilson, who wants her to cater his wife's seventy-fifth birthday. But when the couple die the next day, apparently from food poisoning, her desserts are the first 'suspect' anyone thinks about.
So once again, Lucy's baking is suspected of killing someone, and she has to prove herself innocent, since the deputy sheriff, Taylor, isn't giving her information. And if she doesn't figure it out soon, she might not just lose her business, but also her life...
While these are short (1-2 hour) mysteries, I do like most of the characters that enter into the book. I would still like to know why Taylor dislikes Lucy so much, but you can't expect everything in a short book. Still, there were several suspects, and little clues, so we had to figure it out along with Lucy.
Her Aunt Tricia has her back and is helping her with questions, including the Wilsons' two sons, who are very different. But unexpectedly, things take a turn and Lucy discovers that she might have her eyes on the wrong person all along. The only thing that bothered me is the fickleness of the people in town. You'd think after eating her baked goods, at least there would be enough people to have trust in her and continue to purchase her items, considering no one else from the party was made ill.
All in all, a quick mystery to solve and characters that I hope will evolve with future books; I will continue to read this series and look forward to the next book. Recommended.
I was given an advance copy from the publisher but this in no way influenced my review.
This is book 2 in the Ivy Creek Mystery series, and Lucy Hale has returned home after her parents deaths, and reopened their bakery, Sweet Delights. She has hired Hannah to help bake and business is going pretty well, enough so that Lucy is thinking of expanding. When Becky Anderson talks her into doing the sweet treats for a charity fundraiser, gratis of course, assuring Lucy that the exposure will increase her business, Lucy agrees. While at the gala she meets Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, who are enjoying her cupcakes with sprinkles, and is asked to consider catering their 50th Anniversary party (which also happens to be Mrs. Wilson’s 80th birthday). But the next day is a busy one in the bakery and Lucy is thrilled until she hears that the Wilson’s died after he gala, possibly from food poisoning! She couldn’t believe that the bakery was potentially involved in a murder investigation again! As business drops off and basically stops, Lucy feels she needs to investigate to prove her innocence once again. A fairly short cozy mystery with plenty of twists to keep your interest.

Lucy is the owner of Sweet Delights, a bakery and cafe in Ivy Creek. Becky Anderson, the wife of the owner of the largest accounting firm in town, has talked Lucy into freely providing the treats for a charity event she and her husband are hosting. As she promised, Lucy met several people who were interested in having her provide sweets for their businesses, most notably Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. Several days later, Lucy finds out that the Wilsons have both passed away from food poisoning and the town is staying away from her shop in fear. Who killed the Wilsons and are trying to blame the killing on Lucy? Can she and her Aunt find the killer before he strikes again?
I am voluntarily reviewing this book after receiving it free from the author.
Although some references to the loss of her parents, you do not need knowledge of Book 1 before picking up this quick cozy you can finish in one sitting. Lucy has her hands full when she and her treats for a fundraiser are thought to be the culprit behind the deaths of an elderly couple. Knowing how it feels firsthand, she feels an obligation to discover the truth for the sake of their family even if she is not sure if she can even trust them.

After Lucy caters a charity event for the Andersons, a wealthy and influential couple in Ivy Creek, two of the guests are poisoned and her treats are suspect. With her business in jeopardy, will Lucy have to give up the family bakery and return to her job in the city or will she be able to find out who is really responsible for the deaths? This is a fun story with interesting characters and a good mystery set in a small town. Lucy is a clever sleuth and an appealing heroine. If you are looking for a quick cozy read to enjoy, give this one a try.
Lucy Hale owns a bakery and has plans to expand into catering for special occasions. After her first large event, a couple dies of food poisoning. The book follows Lucy as she tries to clear her reputation and figure out who might have wanted the couple dead. I would have liked to have seen deeper character development. That said, this is quick, light reading and is a great book to escape into for a couple of hours. It’s a clean read, meaning there’s no swearing, sex, or steamy romance. I received this book as an ARC, and this review is my honest opinion.
Lucy is still trying to make her baking business a success. It seems to run hot and cold. She is asked to cater a charily event...for free, but is will get an 'in' to all the rich people in town. Everything is going great afterwards until one of the loving couples that attended dies from food poisoning. Now, Lucy is back to no one coming into her business and cancelling orders. Can she prove she didn't kill the couple? If she didn't did it who did and why? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Twinkle,Twinkle, Deadly Sprinkles is the latest book in a relatively new small town cozy mystery series by Ruth Baker. Just as Lucy is re-establishing her bakery she is given the opportunity to provide her products for a charity event that could provide a number of potential new clients for her bakery. This leads to murders, surprising suspects, and clues — including possible red herrings. I the book is well-written and nicely paced. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Small town living isn’t as easy as it seems. Lucy thought she would be easily accepted but that isn’t the case. In book 2 of the series she’ll be involved in another murder. Will she be able to solve the case before she is a victim?
Another fast paced read cozy to enjoy with yummy desserts.
If you are looking for a cute cozy to read in an afternoon then this is a book for you. This is part 2 in the Ivy Creek Mystery series. I however have not read part one before reading this one. I did not feel as though I was left wondering what was going on at all. The author did a great job recapping anything that the reader may want to know.
A good well written story with an interesting plot, a better written story than the first in the series with strong characters. A good quick read perfect of a winter evening.
I enjoyed reading these short stories Book 1 kept my interest and so did book 2. The characters were likeable it was a quick read that did not drag on.
