Quite insightful and informative I was caught off guard when I realized that maybe Kurt Cobain was actually terminated and the entire thing was framed! why were they afraid of him?
Well, "They" said this would be a good read, and 'they' weren't wrong - pardon a pun to open my review :-)
A very well written book showing a great deal of research was put in, and seemingly without pushing an agenda or biased opinion.
Some components were seemingly factual, and other chapters appeared a little more fictional.
Takes a lot of patience and an open mind to read this book.
I initially considered only reading chapters that were more appealing to me, but ended up deciding to read the book from A-Z and this turned out to be a good decision. Most chapters led directly into the next, even though they were stories about apparantly completely different events.
I won't recommend it to anyone, as I believe the enjoyment or not of this book will greatly vary from person to person.
If you ever wanted to read a good introductory book on conspiracies by a balanced author with sound research to back it up (and not an internet nutjob) this is for you. The author dispels some of the weirder accounts out there and leaves the book open for a chance to enable people to progress with their own research. It's well worth a read. It's quite current too since at the time of writing it included a section on Covid-19.
the presentation of a theory and then the deconstruction thereof makes for a fun read. the 'but, maaaaaybe?' tone gets a little tiresome, but i do enjoy the presentation of the material and the demonstration in the opening chapter that pretty much every conspiracy is, at its heart, borne out of anti-semitism. very up-front at the start.
Fascinating. I couldn’t put this book down! This was given to me as a Christmas gift by someone who considers them self a conspiracy theorist, somewhat as a gag gift. However, this was an excellent gift and read! I sincerely appreciate the historical and fact finding presentation by the author. All sides are present and presented for reader interpretation not persuasion.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being an interesting, and balanced take on major conspiracy theories. I learned a lot of extra detail on ones I was aware of, and the exposition of theorists is debunked a lot of the time. Where there is doubt, this is left for the reader to ponder and consider further, if desired.
An unbiased look into conspiracy theories, one that refreshingly shows every perspective. Non-assuming and lets the readers create their own idea of what happened. Super interesting, MAJOR PROPS TO DR LEE MELLOR FOR HIS IMPRESSIVELY THOROUGH RESEARCH KUDOS OL CHAP
I thought this book was super interesting. There was a substantial amount of information that I already knew about but this book goes in-depth and deepens my knowledge of theories that this book contained. Some of the most interesting parts of this book were, MK-Ultra, The Assassination of John F. Kennedy, The Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, and Area 51. Overall I thought this book was great and I would totally recommend it.
I found this much more descriptive than analytical. The books presents a sweeping overview of some conspiracy theories and the occasional (brief) debunking, while blurring the boundaries between truth/fact/plausible and conspiracy/fabrication. It starts and ends abruptly, without an introduction or a conclusion, and it does not seem to contain a thread connecting its chapters. It felt like reading a very well-written blog post lacking in depth and purpose but high on the readability scale.
I gave up on this book because 97% of the subjects in this book I've read in previous books so I don't really need to read this book. Its ok if you're new to these subjects although the writing is slow.
This was very average read and in fact, I'm not quite sure what it actually added to the already existent literature on all the subjects the author wrote about because he added absolutely nothing new or groundbreaking. Disappointing. Read well enough, good writing, just not as interesting as I thought this would be and repeats stuff already commonly known.
