Toxic relationship that really only kept me reading in hopes to see a redemption arc that never occurred.🙃
*Update: I also read the manhwa not realizing it was this until half-way through where it sounded too familiar. Once again, finished it kinda cause I enjoyed the train wreck, but there is a redemption arc, but none of us wanted to read it, let's be honest. The lead interest is just flat out toxic. Much prefer shipping the MC with the hot firefighter not gonna lie, cause at least that dude understood boundaries and actually showed emotional care. Oof.
This is a toxic relationship let's just get that out of the way. All of Zig's work is toxic, but somehow, there is an allure to it. Before you burn me at the stake, Keith is a homophobic jerk of a man, and the thing is Yeonwoo, and I know that. We aren't making excuses. Yeonwoo just wants to be near Keith with no expectations, and I just want to read this book to see where these two are headed.
If you are looking for a redemption arc, this is not it. Keith isn't secretly a good guy, and there is nothing he can do to make up for what he has done. Cue Yeonwoo, who is here to make Keith's life a living hell, and while he is at it, make Keith contemplate his overly masculine sexuality. Though I did love how Keith was always lost in thought. I pictured him thinking of Yeonwoo and trying to reconcile his feelings. And his violet stare makes it hard to breathe. Like being caught in the stare of a fearsome predator.
Yeonwoo and Keith's meet-cute was so beautiful. I wish I could have just paused the feeling and lived in it. Even in the manhwa, it made my heart flutter. Well, until Keith figured out Yeonwoo was a boy and treated him like straight-up street trash. I guess after that, I was just hoping Keith would recognize his mistake. I can still see him smiling at Yeonwoo and talking to him so softly.
The cliffhanger was pretty good. If I hadn't read the manga first, I would have been rushing to the next one. There is just something about Zig's stories that has me flipping the pages. Maybe it's the taboo of it all. Whatever it is, I can't help myself. Also, I have taken precautionary measures for my Kindle when I die, so no one stumbles across this stuff.
bro ok so the love interest guy is obvi hot cause why else would i read. the main guy, i lowkey didn’t like love him but he’s lowkey so real. and he KNOWS HIS WORTH. he literally is eating so hard and im only on chapter 20 something.
ok so we finished and it got cringe as fuck. I HATE WHEN THEYRE TOGETHER SO EARLY. i just only like buildups in books so like it’s the authors fault. actually no it is cause wtf is the rest of the book for. i’m refuse to read the specials because they are so cringe as a couple with these stupid ass pet names. like the main guy was so good before, he was standing his ground and wouldn’t take shit, and now he is the opposite. he went from a baddie to a loser. do no reread this future jenna.
I bought this on Amazon and promptly returned it when I found out I would need to deal with 4 volumes of this &)g&$)"vldbk$-:; ......... ehem. Anyway. I read the manhua before, but due to things making no sense due to google translation and messy chapters, couldn't really figure things out 100%.
The novel is much better organized and detailed, as is always the case. But this doesn't change what this story is about fundamentally. I was intrigued by the hot cover of vol1 but don't be fooled: there's none of that in this book. At least not in vol1. So why the cover? Shrugs. I love some good mindless smut. And in the later volumes I'm sure it's there. But the plot bothers me too much for me to want to invest in this story, even for omegaverse smut, and that says a lot cuz I love smut!!!
The rape. The repeated non consensual sex. The infidelity!!! The toxic "relationship" of MC/ML. Nope. There's no love in there. It was lust from start to finish. How can the MC even be in love with someone who just straight up told him he should have just shut up and let himself be gang raped. What is the big deal. Yeah. Okay. And by the end, it seems the ML still doesn't know the truth of how they first met?! At least not in the manhua. Maybe the novel does. If the novel redeems the plot miraculously then I will purchase all 4 volumes. But unless that happens... nope. I'm out. BYEEEE.

A little more crazy then I’m used to ina novel, but as fan fiction…right up my alley. I liked to storyline definitely hated the love interest Keith. I’m hoping a the novel goes on. I’ll start to like him more, but we shall see. I will say, I’m about to read the Korean version in graphic novel form since it’s completed. Because this volume leaves you on a cliffhanger.
Read it in a day. I found it on Amazon and bought right away, It made cry during some parts but I manly laughed during the the book. I can’t wait for the other volumes to be translated to English or any other of ZIG novels.
Was it toxic? - Yes... Was it good.? - Absolutely 😅🤷♀️🙈 Keith was to 🌶🔥to handle ..... But Dane was on another level of hotness 😳and he is having his own manhwa... I'm going to eat this shit up...
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I had expected the cliffhanger but it does make me eager for the next book. It is an interesting look into a new type of world containing omegas, betas, alphas and gammas. Yeonwoo is an omega that was changed by close contact to Keith. Later it is ironic he becomes Keith's secretary and Keith doesn't remember their first meeting. The dynamic between Yeonwoo and Keith is very interesting and I want to see what happens next.
