Welcome to Lake Donahue, a picture-perfect coastal town.
Don’t let the postcard image fool you. The founding families put that filter in place to hide the secrets that go bump in the night. And just like everything else, time has a habit of bringing secrets to the surface.
Exhausted from living in the public eye, Caleb MacMillon is under the constant scrutiny of his family and the expectations of society. Crumbling under the pressure, he flees to the one place where he can hide, the sleepy little town of Lake Donahue. What better place to disappear? To become invisible? To blink entirely from society’s radar?
Until it actually happens.
Heading home after years away should feel welcoming to Valerie Donahue, but she’s got her own familial difficulties. Being a daughter of a founding family comes with its own pressures—and family secrets. But it’s different now. Valerie is an adult with her own agenda, and she’s finally moving into her own space.
Until she meets her surprise roommate.
A hottie in a mirror.
An accidental curse.
The explosive sexual attraction of two people who can’t even touch.
Born and raised in the beautiful Texas Hill Country was a little girl with wild, curly hair and a growing imagination. Storytelling began at an early age as an only child who loved to use her imagination and make up stories. As she grew, she could never decide on what she wanted to be once she was grown up. Her love of making up stories didn’t stop, and it was with that imagination she realized she could live all of those realities and dreams, in stories.
A.R. Hall is a USA Today Bestselling author who lives in Texas with her almost high school sweetheart husband, daughters, dogs, and a growing collection of crafting hobbies. She claims to be an extroverted introvert, but every Pisces likes to keep their head in the clouds. Her other interests include starting gardens, binging tv shows, eating sour candy, and tracking her hydration.
Be careful what you wish for in the small town of Lake Donahue, Connecticut. That’s exactly what Caleb McMillan must have thought when he found himself trapped in an alternate existence. One day he’s bemoaning his life of privilege and obligation and the next he finds himself trapped in a place where he’s not dead but he’s not living either. Then along comes the red-headed witch, Valerie Donahue, prodigal daughter of the town’s founding family who has come home from her travels and moves right into the small apartment where Caleb lived before he mysteriously disappeared. Is it Fate that brought Valerie home to recue Caleb from his dilemma or was it the spirits of Donahues past?
I might never had read this book had it not been had for a live reading held on a Friday night before a recent book signing I attended in San Antonio, Texas. Even though only a short excerpt was read from the book I was invested immediately and had to have more.
This is the first book I have read by either author and I’m wondering to myself why it took me so long! The writing in this book is smart and witty! Despite being a short read the authors have managed to make you feel that the instalove relationship between Caleb and Valerie is believable by building an emotional and intellectual connection between them instead of just making it about physical chemistry. How can they possibly have physical chemistry if Caleb is stuck in an alternate space you ask? I think the steamy bathtub scene will convince you! Ghostboners! Who knew?
The best sign of a co-written book is when it flows seamlessly and the reader can’t tell who wrote what scenes. A.R Hall and D. Gemini have this down pat. Cursed has a unique storyline that keeps you entranced from the beginning. This book reeks of humor and sexiness. It flows so beautifully.
Caleb and Valerie are dealing with a situation that has never occurred before. Their chemistry is off the charts but if they will find a way to be together is yet to be seen.
Cursed had me from page one. I laughed, I blushed, and I was hooked. I was elated to find out that this is going to be a series. It was a fast and easy read. Cursed is a book that I wish I could read again for the first time. Kudos to Hall & Gemini for being exemplary examples of what a magnificent co-write is all about.
I picked this book up after a live reading at a recent book signing. This is a smart, witty, steamy romance about a girl who lives her life outside the confines of her social conscious family and a guy who literally wished he could disappear to escape his mother’s matchmaking. It takes an antique mirror and a curse to reveal to them their destiny! This is a brilliant collaboration between AR Hall and D Gemini. I need more from these two ladies!
This book/genre is something that I normally don’t read but I’ve read a few from this Author and her writing has completely surprised me. Cursed is a different story from a small town which got me hooked in the first place. If you’re wanting to read a book that will keep yourself interested from the first chapter, then let me suggest this book.
Ok but remember Patrick Swazey and the pottery scene and the body swapping scene in the movie Ghosts…that level of intimacy ? If you liked that then you’re gonna love this book! I would rate 3⭐️🌶️ only bcz it’s a shorter story. It was defin captivating and I was dying to see if the curse would be broken
I really enjoyed this story. It is so different from anything I have read before. I liked Val and Caleb's characters and their development throughout. Loved the interaction with her best friend Noelle. Hoping for more stories from this secret filled town.
This was such a cute and romantic love story!!! I have always had a thing for the fairy tales and this fits just right!!!! Val and Caleb get their happy ever after!!
