The Dalton Family #3

The Single Dad

Rate this book
Most college-aged girls go to Europe to experience their sexual awakening.

All I had to do was come home.

Ford Dalton isn’t the kind of man I’d look at twice—because I can’t stop looking at him at all.

We can’t take our hands off each other in the bar.

Back at his house, it’s our lips.

And in his bed?

There isn’t a single part of us that’s not on fire.

One night would never be long enough for Ford to show me every delicious thing he can do to my body.

But there’s something he’s keeping from me: he’s already met the love of his life.

His daughter, Everly.

And there’s something I’m keeping from him: I just applied for the job of my dreams.

Everly’s new nanny.

A sexy single dad and nanny romance.

A rare full on 5⭐ from me.
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ The Dalton Family #3
Others in the series ~ The Lawyer, The Billionaire
Setting ~ California
Publication date ~ June 28, 2022
Page Count ~ 364
Audio length ~ 10 hours and 26 minutes.
Narrators ~ Summer Morton and Wayne Mitchell
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ single dad, boss/nanny, lawyer, age gap, forced proximity, fast burn, lotsa steamage

Ford & Sydney
They meet at a bar, make googly eyes and are off to explore their instant attraction. Then Sydney discreetly applies to be his nanny and the brakes are put on their exploration.

Break out the fan cuz these two will give you 2nd degree burns with their smoking hot chemistry.

I am usually not a fan of children in my romance books, but Ford makes me second guess that. He's such a great dad with Everly and she has him wrapped around her precious little finger. Sydney is so patient and great with her. I love that Dominic and Jenner are doting uncles too.

I really can't think of anything I disliked and that's super rare ~ maybe I could have went for a more clever title, there that's something. Between the steamage, shocking revelation and an adorable epilogue it was all around perfection.

Series notes:
A standalone, but do yourself a favor and read the first two.

Narration notes:
They did a perfect job, even with their opposite sex voices.

*Thanks to Marni Mann, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advance audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

I'm trash for the single dad/nanny trope so of course I enjoyed the premise, I most assuredly loved the single dad arc, Ford and Everly were absolutely adorable but the whole story had very little conflict on page besides the obvious. This one was definitely cookie cutter on the sweet side but certainly lacked angst.
That being said it most assuredly didn't lack steam. This book has some very lengthy sex scenes—sadly not all to my taste, and I felt the need to skim some of them. I found them repetitive and boring to be honest.

Now, it pains me to even have to bring this up in a review, I'm not a sex expert by any means but it's pretty much basic physiological knowledge... If you have to write an anal sex scene in 2022, it might be useful to know an asshole doesn't " form its own wetness ". 🙄 Unless we're talking about completely different kind of wetness here and in this case please don't sex. 🙈🤢

I get the heroine is so hot for the hero she's often described as dripping but for fuck's sake, get some lube in there. There is no natural lubricant in the rectum. 🤓

I felt like I was waiting to read this book forever and I have to say that Marni never disappoints when it comes to her hero and heroines. She makes us fall in love with them so easily and everything feels effortless as if that was our natural instinct to love them.

Hot shot Lawyer Ford Dalton has one thing that he loves in this world unconditionally and that’s being the best father to his four year old little girl. Nothing is more important than her and finding the best nanny is no exception. But the lines are about to become blurry when he learns that the perfect woman for the job is the same one he can’t stop thinking about.

The-Single-Dad-AN-Teaser

I loved the premise of the story and if you follow my reviews, you know that I'm a huge forbidden/age gap fan and this one definitely hit the spot for me. I loved the relationship between Ford and his daughter and you really felt the love and protectiveness that he had for her.

I’m excited to see what the rest of the family is going to be up to in future books going forward because I love all of them! they’re witty, sexy, charming and they give you just enough emotional baggage that keeps you hooked. If you’re looking for a sexy single dad romance, I recommend that you give this one a try.

The Single Dad is the third book in The Dalton Brother's Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, however, I highly recommend you read each one in order to grasp the intricate details of the relationships of the Dalton Family.

description
Ford Dalton loves his family, his profession, and his little girl. Although he knows it wouldn't hurt to find that special someone, he doesn't want to bring anyone into his daughter's life if she decides to walk away. When Ford meets Sydney at a bar one night, he can't help but be intrigued by her. There is an instant connection, and they end up back at his place, where they can't keep their hands off each other. What starts as a one-night stand quickly becomes something more as Ford starts to develop feelings for Sydney. But when Sydney becomes his daughter's nanny, his life becomes even more complicated.

description
Told in dual POV, The Single Dad is a passionate, forbidden romance full of intrigue and heart. I was immediately drawn to the Ford, Sydney, and Everly, and the dynamics between the three were simply swoon-worthy. In addition to the strong relationships between the three main characters, the supporting ensemble enhances the plot with each page turn.

description
Overall, if you're looking for a hot, single dad romance, look no further than Marni Mann's The Single Dad. This USA Today best-selling author does not disappoint with this steamy, heart-wrenching tale of forbidden love. Marni Mann is one of my go-to authors, and I can't wait for more Dalton Brother love!

No angst, no drama, and just pretty boring. Maybe I’ve read a few too many light, insta-lust/love reads recently but I could not enjoy this one. It was too sweet and nothing interesting happened.

I didn’t feel the connection between the couple (I forget their names). Whenever they talked it felt so formal, even before she was the nanny. I also don’t understand why she would be willing to lie and ruin what was happening with her and the MMC just to get a job. It wasn’t like she was in desperate need for a job and why not just be upfront with the guy? It was just such a pointless thing to put in the plot.

I think this is a combination of it being a little boring and I’m just not in the mood. So it wasn’t for me but if you’re in the mood for a super light and easy single dad romance, you might like it.

3/5 ⭐️s

Listen, I’m such a fan of Marni Mann’s books; it physically pains me to say I didn’t love this one! The tropes were there: forced proximity, single dad and the nanny…But something just fell flat for me. I think part of my issue is personal and stems from the level of education both Ford and Sydney were pushing on Everly - it made their moments together feel more clinical and less loving when every moment was a teaching moment.

Honestly, the best moments in this book were the angsty moments. Those were the times I felt genuinely invested in this couple. Even the spice didn’t really hit for me here, but I think part of it was Ford’s tight grip on his emotions. Sydney was equally put together, so it was hard to FEEL their desire sometimes, especially at the beginning when they’re meant to have an instant attraction.

When you read an author as much as I read Marni’s books, I guess you’re bound to have one or two that you just don’t connect with. I’m definitely looking forward to Declan and Hannah’s book next - the “I can’t decide if I want to murder you or fuck you” vibes are already promising with them!

Spice: 3/5 🌶

*Edit to include my stream of consciousness*

I’ve sat on these thoughts all week, but they’re still bothering me, so I need to put them to word somewhere. I don’t know if it’s because I’d just read Last on the List by Amy Daws (another single dad + the nanny, only her heroine was fat), and those feelings of size not mattering were still in my head…but I left this book with the worst feeling about how Sydney was described.

During their first sex scene, Declan fixates for a moment on Sydney’s thigh gap. He makes a point to say how he’d pictured it while they were at the club. Her thigh gap. Do you know how skinny a woman has to be to have a thigh gap? It took me completely out of that moment.

And later in the book, Declan is again admiring Sydney’s body and focuses on her stomach. He describes it in two words: “Bare. Flat.” And, a few pages later, he does it again. Word for word: “Bare. Flat.”

But her breasts? Those are big. Those tits are “perfect”.

There’s this almost uncomfortable fixation with Sydney’s size in this book, and it’s so unrealistic for most women. I’m a fat girl. I don’t need every heroine I read to be fat too, but I definitely don’t want it shoved down my throat how unattainably thin she is either. It left me feeling completely disconnected from these characters.

Sydney’i sevdim ama Ford’la ilişkisinde masum, deneyimsiz havasını vermek isterken bi tık fazla pasif kaldığını hissettim.

REVIEW: 4+ STARS
"The sound of her begging was fucking music to my ears."

Ooh, one of the easiest, sexy books I've read in a little bit!! I love that I have been able to pull aside something individually encompassing (nice contradiction - ha!) per story in this series. THIS story had to be the most sexy, yet laid back book in the series yet. The Lawyer gave me the NAUGHTY. The Billionaire gave me the LUST. The Single Dad....ooh my gosh, Ford gave me the LOVE. I am in love with all these guys, and Marni Mann has placed me in a weird predicament - so we will blame her, but I love Ford, but not as much as Jenner. HAHAHA!!! #MyHeartStaysWithJenner

You guys....this book was such a fun read. I smiled. I giggled. I sighed. Everything about this book was worthy of the time spent reading it, but now I am super sad it's over. I really could have read about Syd and Ford for a little while longer. Their meeting, their connection, their attraction - it was all heartfelt and palpable. Knowing it was going to have equal parts drama, sexy time, and a true love to match made it that much more entertaining. She built an obvious intensity - she gave a truth, a closeness, a surrender of their hearts.

I know that when I read a book like this one, I like to look into the smaller actions....the little things that happen that give the story that much more depth, but don't necessarily stand out as a heavyweight action. For me, this one kind of hit home as someone who moved/traveled my entire life growing up. Mann gave a different meaning to Ford's travels. She gave intent and embellished it with the lavish side of Ford, but also gave a deeper meaning to his heart. I enjoyed seeing that side of it. It was always about Everly and her ability to grow with teachable moments and making learning fun - which I absolutely loved!! It was definitely a relatable feeling for me and it was a great reminder of how good I had it growing up. The culture and the experience alone makes for all the smiles. Nostalgia in book form. 😇

Funny side note: This book really worked well with Mann's very public world of travel and food. I love seeing her travels on Instagram and all the travel, wine, and foodie pics she posts – so the background on Mann gave me a few mental visuals for Ford and Sydney's journeys. It was really fun to envision her story coming to life remembering her posts.

Bee Disclaimer: I hate the forced proximity trope and usually find myself avoiding any book that uses that descriptor because I think it's a gateway for forced drama and an easy "in" for a relationship to grow, but every now and then I find a book that doesn't quite highlight that part so annoyingly loud - as in, it's not the sole focus, and this was definitely that one. I loved how Ford handled himself and how we got to see how hard he was fighting his desire for her, while trying to respect boundaries. It was also laughable because their chemistry leapt off the pages in leaps and bounds and there really was no such thing as holding back for them.

BUT, that single daddy trope tickles my fancy! Every. Single. Time. I love that trope and seek it out regularly...so feel free to recommend me one ANYTIME!!

Who doesn't like naughty and sexy times? I think we have all established that so far, so it's always fun when an author can include it in the story but not overdo it. I would like to say that Ford and Sydney definitely defined the "honeymoon phase" of a relationship side quite well. *wink*wink* They were so drawn to each other and it was easy to feel that heartfelt grasp they had on each other's soul. An intimacy that never fails and a closeness that never lacks is always a favorite part of a read for me and I feel that Mann nailed that. That drive to get deeper inside a soul, the desperation to feel that much more of a connection with your partner is very important. That's the emotional intensity I seek. I love how Mann's able to infuse deeper desire and need into her stories, even when circumstances dictate otherwise. The urgency, I could feel it growing exponentially - it climbed higher and higher with Ford's inability to control himself around her. It was absolutely delicious and I loved every single bit of it.

We all love a protective father figure in our babies' lives, right? Ford's protectiveness took on a whole new meaning, and made so much more sense as to why he was so protective of her, especially after the twist played out. Oh my, it made Ford that much more perfect in my eyes because his heart was always in the right spot - no matter the circumstance. I did spring a few tears at a pivotal moment - but it was an overall very happy and entertaining read.

Overall, the ease in which I read this book was great. It had a few mildly angsty moments, a few sweet and silly moments with Everly - and a few downright naughty moments with Ford and Syd. It all melded so perfectly, but the ending is what sealed the deal for me. It ended with a sigh for me. An easy going, shut the book and smile kind of sigh. It was a good reminder of a love so powerful and so deep that you couldn’t help but root for them. Sexy and sweet had me smiling! Easily and happily recommended.

Aaaand finding out that THE INTERN is the next book made me smile. Hannah and Declan are going to be an explosive read because this one is going to encompass a man unwillingly falling to his knees and a strong woman being the one to enjoy putting him there. HAHAHA!

"An accidental encounter."

BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES BY FAR.

ALSO 🚨MY FIRST SINGLE DAD ROMANCE🚨

I am a simpppppp for Ford. Like he can literally be my daddy because he’s perfect. I’m talking…getting it ALL DAY EVERY DAY WHEW. I loved Sydney and her entire character! And EVERLY WAS PERFECT. She is the cutest little girl and I’m obsessed. The way Ford and Everly interacted had my ovaries WEEPING. And you guys. I cried. I legitimately shed a tear and oh my gosh that doesn’t happen often when I read.

I listened to the first two books in the series but I think reading this was a way better experience. I can appreciate the dirty talk better for some reason 😏

You need to add this book to your reading list IMMEDIATELY so you can experience the sexiness of Ford Dalton.

The Single Dad is not that interesting. I am counting on Miss Mann to give her readers the usual.twist and turn on the plot. But it never came. The last revealing at the end, is just meh.

While the length of the story is dragging, there is nothing in it that have surprise factor.

Well anyway....

Well, I think it was a fine story. Definitely on the low drama side and just mainly about the bonding process between these three people (the hero, the heroine and the hero's kid).

I do like the comfort it brings and if you're in between book and wanting something sweet to fill in the gap, sure this book worth it.

** BETA READ **

Gah!! YOU GUYS!!! Marni Mann is the absolute Queen at writing anything she puts her mind to! And she did it again!!! Welcome to one of the best damn Single Dad/Nanny romances you will EVER READ!!! The Single Dad was Beyond Exceptional!!! This story had heart, steam, banter for dayssss and a hero and heroine that will take your breath away!! Ford and Sydney were EVERYTHING! Prepare to have your kindle steaming and your heart melting!!

Gah!! I loved this story so so much! Ford Dalton lived up to his last name (and then some!) in this third installment in The Dalton Brothers series. He was beyond sexy and absolutely perfect. Mann was able to balance his protective paternal side with the dirty-talking alpha male we've come to expect from her. Just a warning: he will detonate ovaries worldwide!! Likewise, Sydney was just amazing. She was loving, devoted and Ford (and Everly's) perfect match with a heart of gold. I loved her so much!

Overall, this was another outstanding novel from this author! I loved seeing the Dalton Brothers, their partners and the uber sexy Agency guys. Get ready for the hottest steam, all the feels and the swooniest hero you will ever meet! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️

Gotta admit that I'm kinda disappointed by this book since I had such high expectations going in. If y'all know me, you know I do love meself a good ol' single dad romance (bonus points if it's a nanny x single dad forbidden romance) with all the feels and cute asf kids. And I'd really hoped that this book would be exactly that. Unfortunately it wasn't and was slightly underwhelming. Also the title of the book seemed pretty unoriginal and basic but whatever ig🙂

Some things that I noticed felt a bit weird/needed more work on were:
- the dialogue seemed a bit forced and didn't flow smoothly
- the smut/steamy scenes felt kinda clinical in certain parts of the story
- discrepancies in the introduction of side characters i.e. Sydney's friend hadn't formally introduced herself/said her name but suddenly two lines later she changed from Sydney's friend sitting beside her to Gabby??? (first name basis)
- age calculation i.e. when Ford had Everly (but that's just me being anal about math so I'll pretend to ignore it lmao)
- annoying child; Everly didn't seem like a kid but more like a whiny, unnecessary side character that did not contribute whatsoever to the main couple's development/did not add to the storyline (the drawn out words really annoyed me to hell and back ffs😭💀)
- that one *weird* mention of the FMC's thigh gap where the MMC raved about it which frankly, I felt was highly unnecessary and to a certain extent worded in a slightly demeaning way when it came to a woman's body size/shape
- too many technical aspects when it came to the relationship between Sydney and Everly; I was expecting to see them bond/some cute, fluffy moments
- Sydney felt more like a governess rather than nanny with all the "teaching" she was doing; didn't feel authentic or natural imo

Overall, The Single Dad wasn't bad per se - it was a decent read - but it wasn't the best lol🤷🏻‍♀️

If you are looking for a red-hot spicy nanny/boss sassy and well written romance book that will simply melt you… then this book is for you.

The Single Dad, aside from your average nanny/boss romance, is an interesting read because such care was put into the story and the characters. The relationship between Ford and his daughter was simply drool worthy. Sidney just came as an undeniable force of nature into their lives and could not be ignored. From their first encounter, that was a detailed intense one-nightstand, till the end (which I refuse to spoil) I was so in with this couple.

This is a new to me author and this book was supplied as an ARC in exchange for my honest review and I can honestly say not only did I love this book, but I can say I loved the author and I plan to read more of her books. A strong 4.5 stars.

Sydney has been working overseas as an au pair since she graduated high school four years ago. She has had the best time traveling the world with the family she worked for, whilst she was figuring out what career she wanted. After her wonderful experience caring for children she has decided that education is her thing so she has returned to the US to study at UCLA.

Sydney has only been on solid ground for less than twelve hours when her bestie convinces her they need to go out for drinks to celebrate her return. She will be living with Gabby for a while until she gets more settled and finds a job but for now they will enjoy catching up.

Ford was 24 years old and living the single life when one night his whole world was flipped on it’s head. A newborn baby was placed in his arms and it was love at first sight. Five years later, his beautiful daughter Everly is the light of his life. He has a successful career in law, along with his two brothers and they are all part of the village that has helped him raise Everly.

Ford has been dragged out for a night with his brothers for some much needed guy time. He has a lovely cousin who enjoys hanging out with Everly which means he can occasionally go out for drinks. Sydney captures his attention the first minute he lays his eyes on her, she is absolutely gorgeous and once he gets chatting to her she is only more enticing.

The attraction between them is off the charts and after a bit of encouragement from his brothers, he decides to just go with what he is feeling. Sydney is feeling the same things he is, she has never met a man like Ford, he feels absolutely sinful and she wants him. This turns out to be the most intensely sexual night of their lives, mind blowing, spine tingling, unforgettable sex.

The following week, when Sydney walks into his office as the applicant for his nanny position to take care of Everly he is faced with a tough decision. Ignore the attraction he has towards her for the benefit of his daughter or to have her for himself. After placing the choice in Sydney’s hands, she chooses Everly. They can do this right?

I’m a bit of a mood reader and this story was the perfect read for me at the right time. It had all the things I love about an angst free romance and I simply inhaled every page!

At first I thought this book was going to be really awkward. From lovers to nanny? However, I loved that they both put the little girl first and then built their relationship around it. I also liked that even though she wasn’t 100% honest with him, he didn’t freak out because she was being loyal to someone else. This book was smooth and spicy!

🌀Synopsis
Sydney is coming home and going back to school. How convenient is it that she meets a hot guy at the bar right after she gets back. Not only is he hot, he’s also great in bed. Sydney thinks Ford has the whole package.

Their first night together is great but in the morning she finds out he is a singe dad. When his daughter wakes up early Ford’s cousin drives her home and casually mentions that Ford is looking for a nanny.

In the interview Ford forces Sydney to choose between him and his daughter. Sydney chooses the girl and moves in as the nanny. She’s positive Ford will change his mind about the situation and after a short period of time and a trip away, he does. They get to have the best of both worlds.

Aside from that, the kid was cute, always a plus in book. I really liked Sydney, she was a lovable character. Ford was a great dad, let's leave it at that. Haven't read the rest of this series and I'm not planning on doing so... yeah.

“"I go after what I want." My fingers traveled up her chest, slowly moving between her tits until I reached her throat, holding it to keep her face straight. "And right now, that's you."”

Imma real slut for single dad with an adorable cute little freaky daughter.
And this book fulfilled all my hunger.

- age gap (H 30 / h 22)
- Single Dad / nanny
- Forced proximity
- Dual POV

Just... look at these tropes...

Okay so, when they first meet at the bar, his breath caughts lol. After a mind blowing sex, both want more.
But the thing is he have fears about any kind of relationship with a possibility of ending, even after their night date, he doesn't want to welcome someone who may not be in their life for real, and needs a nanny for his daughter Everly, immediately. And when his cousin learns that Sydney is all business, she offers her to apply for the job (n act like Sid have no idea it was him).

Despite of the attraction, both choose Everly, and decides to end their affair to not complicate things.
Which means my time in hell starts.

And what I'm more slut for than the above is forbidden romance.
Oh yeah.

“I run my thumb over my lips, wishing they were covered in her scent.”

I loved every second of how he remembers every detail of their time together.
And mostly how he want to create new details.
This is one of the most delicious torture.

🔥 𝓱𝓸𝓽 🔥 🌶 𝓼𝓹𝓲𝓬𝔂 🌶 💦 𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓶𝓲𝓬𝓪𝓵 𝔁 💦

BTW there are plenty of forbidden (etc) romance with dirty mind but not all of them makes you feel this way. It's about the balance of being vulgar and I know it's hard to catch this. In this book I really enjoyed sex scenes and naughty inner thoughts despite the fact they are actually very long and excessive.

“But before I really tasted, before I gave her what she'd asked for, I wanted to smell. I wanted to bury myself in her scent. I wedged my nose in between her lips and took a long, deep inhale. "Fuck me," I moaned.”

Gosh nothing compares to a book without of shit. Because there was potential.
- Like, Sydney lies to him to get the job cuz' his cousin told her to do so, and he learns from his cousin, but this situation handled amazingly well, without all the you-lied-to-me drama, he did NOT turn this into a big deal.
- Like, Sydney doesn't complain about ending things, or blame him for HER OWN decisions (either for his). It's rare in romance universe that a heroine does not act like a bitch about everything.
- Like, told that Sydney really loves n takes her job seriously; and I read a lot good scene. Because getting along with children n' loving them is not mean you are good at your job.
- Like, times passes well, they are not jumping into dis n dat.
- Like, there is no OW (Everly's mother) drama thank god.

So IMO this book is very well written, fresh n' neat, not trying to create angst out of nothing. There was drama, there was a cliffhanger (and it wasn't about Ford n Sid) yet it didn't bother me.

dont ask me why i rate 4 stars

Such an easy read! I would’ve finished this in one sitting had I not been too tired 😂 I dozed off yesterday night so I got some reading done this morning. I loved the way Everly and Sydney connected, I also love the relationship dynamics between Sydney and Ford. Full review to come!

The Single Dad is an age gap romance about a dad and his new nanny. Ford and Sydney instantly have a connection when they meet at a bar. Sydney doesn’t know that Ford has a daughter, and Ford doesn’t know Sydney applied to be his daughter’s nanny. Now they have to decide what is more important their feelings for each other or Everly, Ford’s daughter. Sydney has spent the last few years as a nanny and traveling the world and moved back to Los Angeles to go to school to become a teacher. Ford is a lawyer that makes every decision based on what is best for his daughter. Everly is an energetic four year old that loves pink and cupcakes. The Single Dad features steamy romance as well as an interesting story and some shocking moments. The Single Dad is a must read for fans of The Lawyer and The Billionaire but can be read as a standalone. I recommend The Single Dad for romance fans.

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

Thank you, Dreamscape Media, for the opportunity to listen to this story via NetGalley. I enjoyed Summer Morton & Tor Thom’s narration as they brought their characters to life in my head, and they did a really good job with each other’s voices as well as secondary characters.

🎧 NARRATION: 4.5 STARS
📚 STORY: 3.5 STARS

I knew going in that this story would be sexually driven because that’s what Marni writes and, you know what, I’m so used to it now that it didn’t even phase me like it had in the past. Don’t get me wrong, I still think her romance journeys are overshadowed by the sexual nature that she incorporates in the narrative but somehow, this story, it just didn’t seem to rub me the wrong way. I mean I think I may have only skimmed / skipped ahead once or twice and that’s huge progress for me with this author.

I said from the very beginning that I was invested in the Dalton brothers from the first book in this series even tho the first two books really didn’t have much romance growth in my opinion and my ratings show the disappointment I have for this. However, Ford’s story shifted this concept, imo, and even though it seemed like every other chapter was a sexual chapter from beginning to end (lol), the romance journey and growth between Ford & Sydney as a couple, was more prevalent than in past books, so mad props for that!

Lastly, one very good thing and one not so good thing about this story were the “conflicts” in the story. I put quotes around the word conflict because one was a plot twist to beat all plot twist more than it was a conflict but theoretically, it could have been and I cannot tell you how ridiculously satisfying it was that Marni did not turn it into what it could have been because then it would have been just cliché and trite and I would have just thrown my ipad across the room! The not so good plot-point that for all intent and purpose was just about the only conflict they had to their growing relationship was just kinda thrown into the story without much of a purpose. I don’t know if this make sense, but the kind of circumstance that it was, should have been a conflict to their relationship but Marni didn’t drive it in that direction and even tho driving it that direction would make most readers roll their eyes, it needed to happen in order to make sense of why it was even part of the story …. Feel me? LOL (even I think that’s long winded lol but it is what it is) So, as much as I appreciated not rolling my eyes, it left me wondering why it was part of the story in the first place and I really dislike plot-points that make zero sense and don’t drive a story *shrug*

Overall, Ford * Sydney’s story was a huge improvement for me over the last two Dalton brother’s stories which made my listening experience more enjoyable than in the past and I’m hoping this trend continues and whether it does or not, I will most likely continue with this series because the I enjoy the family dynamic that is part of all the stories and now that the three brothers have found their HEA she’s moving forward with extended family and maybe even some second generation books will come from this series! You never know :)

I knew since the moment Ford was introduced that he was going to be my favorite Dalton brother. Why? Because he’s a single dad, duh. I’m a sucker when it comes to single dad books and Ford just added to my obsession. This book was so so so good and I know I always say this but it’s true that Marni always one-ups herself because with each book in The Dalton Brothers series it just gets better and better.

I loved Sydney so much. She was so likable and just a breath of fresh air. She’s intelligent and knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her future. She’s hardworking, caring, and just an all-around amazing person.

From the moment Everly unexpectedly entered Ford’s life everything changed. Now, all that matters to Ford is how he was going to do everything to protect Eve and be the best dad he could be. I loved the relationship between Ford and Everly, they were so cute together and made quite the duo.

From their first encounter the sparks between Ford and Sydney were ever-present. The attraction was undeniable and the chemistry was downright scorching. What began where they couldn’t keep their hands off each other soon turned into keeping it professional because Sydney became Everly’s nanny. Ford doesn’t want to come between what’s best for his daughter in getting the care she needs from Sydney, and even though they’ve tried both he and Sydney can’t deny what they feel for each other.

The Single Dad was a tantalizing age gap boss/nanny romance that brought the fire as well as the emotions. My heart exploded with cuteness overload with Ford and Everly, they had an incredible bond and Ford really was the best dad. Sydney was just the other missing piece both Ford and Everly needed and she was an added bonus to their lives and all three made the cozy family. I say this with every book that releases in this series that it becomes my favorite in the series, buuuuuut hands down The Single Dad definitely takes that title now.

*Thank you Valentine PR for the ARC*

This was by no means horrible but it was still kinda boring tbh.

I didn’t even care much for the little girl (I know I’m a monster) but sometimes I just wanted to get back to the couple and see if anything sparky happens… news flash, not much (sparky) stuff happens. I think that for me, angst makes all the difference with these sex scenes. I don’t care that they are literally fucking on page if there has been no angst between the couple. Yet, the act of just holding hands could be the highest form of spice for me in the right angsty book. So, if someone asked me if this book was spicy, I’d say no because even though there was literal descriptive sex scenes, none of it hit because… no angst.
