I haven't rage finished a book in a very long time

I'm usually too apathetic and end up DNF-ing. I don't know what it is about this author's writing style that makes me want to strangle someone, but I detest it.

A vicar trying to save his own soul. A widow who yearns for children. A darkness that can only be dispelled with the healing power of love . . .

Since I started this series I have eagerly awaited Finch’s story — not because it would be pretty but because I knew his story would be one of great emotional growth. Finch has been in every book of the series, yet we know very little about him. He is the one who has joined all of his fellow Turner Terrors in matrimony yet he appears to never desire love himself. So, yes I eagerly awaited Finch’s story and I loved every minute of it!

Alexa Aston did not disappoint in this story. She does not shy away from taboo topics which are central to this story. Her characters are able to meet their past —head on — and work towards heeling.

I loved this story and I think all those who enjoy watching characters pass out of hell and into the light will enjoy the book as well.

I also as always with this authors work enjoy that she brings characters from previous books into the current story. I love catching up with all of the characters.

My favourite of this series most definitely.
I’ve been waiting for Finley’s book and hoping to discover more about the circumstances of his being sent to the school where the Terrors meet.

This is the one that all secrets are told and wow are they going to open your eyes and break your heart.
If you loved the rest of the series, this is a must, don’t miss it.
Excellent writing from Alexa.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Sommerville, Kent, England. August 1796. Alexa Aston’s Destiny with a Duke (Dukes Done Wrong #5)
is the final book in this series which centers on second sons blamed but not responsible for tragic happenings in their families. The second son is then sent to a special school for ‘troubled boys’, Turner Academy. Five of these second sons bond together and named ‘Turner Terrors’. They become family to one another as their own families have rejected them. The last of the Turner Terrors, ‘Finch’, William Finchley, has never shared his story with his ‘brothers’. Finch, a vicar, truly feels his story has damaged him for life. When he is informed that his elder brother has died and he is now His Grace, Duke of Amesbury, Finch is horrified and very afraid. Will his ‘brothers’, Dukes all, be able to help Finch accept his new position? Does Finch find healing love with a woman he meets during the ‘Season’? How does a vicar play a leading role of a duke? Is Finch able to face his “darkness”? This last book of this series tells a story that resonates today! Enjoyable series! 5 stars.

Victoria Samuel, Lady Pemberton, is a widow with a scandal attached to her late husband. All she wants is to forget her past and find a kind man for a husband to give her children. One of the Turner Terrors, William Finchley lives with the shame and darkness of his past.
A secret he has never revealed to his closest friends. Making a life for himself as a vicar, he vowed to never marry and have children. Unexpectedly his older brother commits suicide. Finch is the new Duke of Sommersby. At his first ball, Finch meets Victoria and she puts everything he believed into question.
I suspected where this book was going from the beginning. Child abuse is hard to read about even in a book you know will have a happy ending. All the agonizing turmoil! Fortunately, Finch meets the only woman with enough love and compassion to help him. An absolutely great book to end the series.
This book may have triggers, read with caution.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Destiny With a Duke is the fifth and final book in the Dukes Done Wrong series, and it is Finch’s story. I was so excited to finally read about the mysterious Finch, as he is the one Turner Terror who never revealed what happened to him when he was a child. As Finch becomes the new Duke of Sommersby, he attends his first season with the support of the other Turner Terrors and their wives. Finch has no plans to wed until he meets Lady Pemberton, who has just returned to polite society after the death of her husband a year ago. Finch and Victoria are so drawn to each other, but will Finch take a chance on love?

Finch’s story is probably the most heartbreaking of all the Turner Terrors, and there are parts of the story that deal with difficult and hard to read subjects. Topics including death, murder, child abuse, and more could trigger some readers, so I would strongly suggest checking out the content warnings before reading the book. Finch deals with feelings of unworthiness, especially when it comes to committing to Victoria. He is scarred and scared, and he has built a very large wall around himself. No one knows of his past, not even the Turner Terrors, and Finch finds it impossible to open up about what happened to him. I like that Victoria helps him find ways to heal from the past and thinks her advice and support are the catharses for his emotional journey.

Victoria was in a loveless and childless marriage, and she longs for children. I love Victoria! She is so kind, wise, and honest, and I how that she takes charge of her life. For so long, Victoria’s life was dictated by either her father or her husband, and this is the first time she has the freedom to make her own choices. With that freedom comes a confidence and determination that Victoria embraces.

Victoria fits in so well with the Turner Terrors and their wives, and they readily welcome her into their continually expanding family. All of the protagonists from the previous books have secondary roles in this story, and their relationships are great models for Finch. He and Victoria see the love matches that all of his “brothers of the heart” made, and both wish for that as well. However, prior to meeting each other, neither Finch nor Victoria think this will happen to them, especially Finch.

The romance between Victoria and Finch is almost instantaneous. They feel such a strong connection from their first meeting, and the attraction is strong. Their love story is a bit different from the rest in the series since Victoria is the slightly more experienced partner, and Finch has no past experiences with women. Victoria is the first and only person to interest Finch, and it’s fascinating to see him try to reconcile his conflicted feelings, especially when other men show interest in Victoria. It’s clear that Victoria and Finch care deeply for each other. However, his fear, doubt, and past are Finch’s constant companions, and he finds it difficult to move past them. I love how Victoria advises Finch and how Finch listens to her wise words. They have a mutual respect and admiration that helps them both find peace, acceptance, and happiness.

I enjoyed this story and thought it was a great conclusion to the series. Like all of the books in the series, the characters are compelling, and the love story is wonderful. A novel about healing, learning to love yourself, starting over, and finding happiness, Destiny With a Duke will appeal to readers of historical romance. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

William Finchley, or Finch to his friends, was sent to the Turner Academy at the age of 10, and never allowed to speak to his family again. Although his new friends, dubbed the Turner Terrors, all spoke about why they were sent to the school, Finch could never admit his past trauma to anyone. Now a vicar, he has found his place in the world, and is dealing with his scars. But learning his brother has died, and he is now the Duke of Sommersby, brings back memories which are better left forgotten. Though his friends, and their wives, are there to help him, they think he should marry and start a family, and he can't bear to let anyone that close. But will Victoria, Lady Pembroke, be able to make him rethink it? For Victoria, she was married off to her father's friend before she could have a season, and never had children with her husband, who was murdered by a prostitute, and left her with a pittance. Now free from her mourning, she's ready to rejoin society, and find a new husband to start a family. Her and Finch are immediately drawn together, and at risk of losing their hearts, but with their own views for the future being so different, can they find happiness together?

As the final book in the series, I loved how Destiny with a Duke really tied together so many plot lines. Ever since I read Discouraging the Duke, I've wanted to know more about Finch. He's always been the quiet one, on the outside from the others, but loved by all, and the way he kept to himself made me desperate to know more. Actually discovering the truth about his horrific grandfather, it definitely answered a number of questions, and I felt so sorry for him, especially as he had bottled everything up for so long. He had so many demons to overcome, and though he didn't always do the right thing, there were definitely moments of catharsis in the book, facilitated by his friends, his rediscovered family, and by Victoria. Victoria, for herself, had lost her mother at an early age, had to cope with an alcoholic father who gambled away everything, including his daughter, and marrying a man over 20 years her senior. She never had any friends, or people she could talk to, and was lucky that her aunt and uncle were happy to take her in once she was widowed. Meeting the wives of the Terrors, who immediately befriended her and took her under their wings, was like a dream come true, and finding love was neigh on unimaginable. I feel like their story was one of the best in the series, and I'm so glad all the Terrors were able to find their happiness!

I have been anxiously waiting for Finch story from the very beginning of the series. Finch's hidden secret pass was intriguing and mysterious. Finch was the only Terror that had not revealed what had been the cause of him being sent to Harwood school for troubled boys. I knew it had to be bad horrible what happen to him. His past is much different from the other 4 Terrors his past is brutal and horribly abusive. The story brough me low in spirit when I began to understand what happen to young 5 yr. old little boy. I hate sexual abuse of any kind. Its inexcusable to children!! This is why the story gets 4 stars instead of 5 stars. Take out the sexual abuse to a tiny young boy and it would have been 5 stars.

If you are low in spirits wait until you are in a happy moment before reading the story. It was a bit depressing!! It is well written and you get to revisit all of the previous Terrors and their Wives. Those are the happy moments in the story!

I liked Victoria but wished she was younger and not another widow! But her character by itself was written well. I am not sure that her and Finch had much chemistry together. She seemed to be happier and matched better with Viscount Minshew!

This book is the perfect conclusion for the delightful Dukes Done Wrong series, with the story of the much awaited last Duke, Finch. William Finchley is the most mysterious character of the series because we never learned what he did to be sent to the Turner Academy. And when his secret is finally revealed, it becomes clear why he wanted to hide it from everyone…
As it happened with his fellow Turner Terrors, Finch inherits the Dukedom at the death of his older brother. He was having a peaceful, if not happy life as a vicar in the country when he’s suddenly swept away to London and to his duties as a duke. He’s not prepared for this new life at all and he doesn’t want it. Just like he doesn’t want to fall in love, marry or have children, never. But fate has other plans…
Lady Victoria Pemberton is a young widow who was forced to marry a much older man and suffered through eight years of neglect and absence of love. She yearns to marry again and have children. And she’s finally having her first season after all this time and looks forward to enjoying it. The mysterious and apparently cold Duke of Sommersby is undoubtedly attractive, but can he be the right choice for her?
I looked forward to reading Finch’s story and I wasn’t disappointed AT ALL! This book is definitively the best of the series.
Sometimes a character just stands out among the others, appeals to your heart and for me this character was Finch since the very first book of the series. Rarely have I been so moved by a character as I was by Finch. He’s broken, he’s suffering, he needs saving… And Victoria is perfect, just the woman from him. I like that these apparently strong, but very vulnerable men draw their force from their women and this is true for all Turner Terrors. Finch’s story is so heartbreaking that I found myself crying quite a lot at the end. The topic is undoubtedly difficult to deal with, but Alexa Aston did it with honesty and surprising delicacy. I couldn’t put this book down until the end. Definitively a five star read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Destiny with a Duke by Alexa Aston
Dukes Done Wrong #5

Dark and difficult at times with a delicious soupcon of hope – this book is the only one that I have read in the series, was able to read it without having read previous ones, but also believe I would enjoy reading to find out more about the other four Turner Terrors.

What I liked:
* William “Finch” Finchley: reserved, generous, kind, artistic, second son, lost his father at young age, difficult childhood, made friends at school that became his family, a bit broken, has much to overcome, able to forgive some things but not all
* Victoria, Lady Pemberton: wise, kind, caring, sold by her father to an older man, widowed, childless, wants a family, returns for the season to find a husband, has a difficult backstory but hopes to find happiness in the future
* The Terrors and their wives: good people that have stories of their own, there for one another, help the underdog, would like to know more about them
* Rufus: William’s valet, humorous, wise, gives good counsel, liked him and if the author were to write a story about the working class wouldn’t mind seeing him as the star in one a book of his own
* Victoria’s aunt and uncle: good people with warm hearts and open arms willing to take Victoria in and help her settle happily
* The way the secret issue in William’s past was dealt with in the story
* Knowing that the Terrors had each other to lean upon through school and beyond
* That Victoria and William had common ground and were well suited for one another

What I didn’t like:
* William’s grandfather, Victoria’s father and her husband – for a number of reasons
* Knowing that women in the era of this story were without recourse and that men were all powerful whether the woman was high or low born.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the finale of the series & the author has kept the best until last. I’d been intrigued by Finch all the way through the series & couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I knew if it was anything like the rest of the series then I’d need to start it early in the day & make sure I wasn’t going to be disturbed. Well it was my favourite of the series, it was a very emotional read, my heart bled for Finch as a young boy, I cried with him when he read Cyril's letter & loved how he came into the light. I also loved Victoria who also hadn’t had an easy life. Together they were perfect for each other. A very well written book with strong damaged characters. Their journey to a HEA was wonderfully told if heart breaking at times & made for an amazing read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

William Finchley never expected to inherit the dukedom especially since he's been estranged from his family since he was sent to Turner Academy as a child. With the help of his fellow Terrors, he begins to understand the duty and responsibility of being a duke, but he has a secret, one he's never told anyone. It haunts him still. When he meets Victoria, Lady Pemberton, she is the first woman he's ever felt desire for. He has vowed never to marry, but sweet and elegant Victoria tempts him like no other. Can he open his heart to this amazing woman or will he forever be haunted by his past?

This is the last book in this series and one that I had waited anxiously to read. I had guessed what Finch's secret was, but Ms. Aston writes with such emotion that I wanted Finch to overcome his trauma so badly. It is such a serious issue and it's no wonder Finch is haunted by what happened to him even years later. Victoria has her own trauma from her last marriage and she is also a fragile soul. The author does a great job of letting their chemistry shine through, but there is no easy HEA for this couple. My heart broke for Finch as he tried to tell Victoria his secret. The book is full of angst and heartbreak, but Ms. Aston is a great storyteller. Having the four other dukes a big part of the book was delightful to see how they also overcame the trauma of their childhood and married for love. This book can be read as a stand alone, but to get the full story of how the Terrors came to be such good friends, I would suggest reading all the books in the series.

I voluntarily read this advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.

We finally learn about the mysterious history of Finch, the fifth and final member of the Terrors. And his past is filled with unspeakable abuses and abandonment from members of his family, leaving him to believe he is best suited for a life of solitude.

But he can't seem to stop himself from spending time with the most charming widow of the ton, Victoria. However, their hopes for the future are at direct odds --- while Finch is scarred from the events of his childhood and never plans to marry, Victoria is desperately seeking someone with which to have a family of her own.

The book was a slow burn, but in the last 25% you really got to see Finch & Victoria's inevitable love shine. A wonderful story about freedom and love and a fitting ending installment for this group of friends & their wives.

This has been an amazing series and this has to be my favorite, although the most emotional as Finch's story is revealed.

Finch is the last of the 5 boys that had been sent away to a school for supposedly unspeakable crimes. He had been the quietest and had not revealed what he had been accused of erroneously.

Now, he inherits the Dukedom that he never wanted and was forced into taking his rightful place in the Ton.

Victoria was finally back into society after the mourning period on the death of her despicable husband.

Can these two heal each other and find happiness? An rollercoaster of intense feelings revealed, a wounded hero who may never come back to life and a determined lady who perseveres regardless! One of my favorite stories of the year!

What can I say!
From Alexa Aston's first book I knew I loved her writing and she was going to be one of my favorite authors. I have loved all 19 books I've read of hers BUT this one is just WOW!

I read over 400 books a year and very rarely get emotional over characters. There have a been a few but only a few. This was one of them. I was blown away by this story and these characters, especially Finch. Such an emotional roller coaster. To have someone like Victoria and the Turner Terrors in your corner was amazing. I thorough enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down.

Alexa Aston's best by far.

Definitely recommend but also recommend this whole series which was amazing.

This was a very anticipated story for me since I started the series. I surmised what his secret was but reading it you felt the scar he carried until the end. The secret maybe a trigger for some so I would suggest you read some of the reviews that talk about it. I'm not doing spoiler's!

I hate to see this series coming to an end. It's written so well that the character's felt like a family you wish you were in. I was thrilled the author has another series on pre-order and I ordered both. She is one of the few I pre-order without waiting for reviews.

To say the H had a horrible childhood from 5-10 years old is an understatement. The trauma he experienced stayed with him well into adulthood. What helped him was the h who also had unhappiness in her life. Their journey to HEA had more valleys than hills but the road to the end emotional for all.

There is lovemaking for our H/h - heat level 2 out of 5. But how they get from one phase to another is a long haul and very emotional. When the H starts talking to the h what happened to him (after the fact) it is hard to read. Heat level 5 out of 5 and described once.

I hope you will give this story a try because what everyone overcomes shows with love much can be conquered.

This is a stand alone but I urge you to read the series. How these 5 boys retained their friendship into adulthood is a great story. Along with their wives who helped each overcome their secrets.

Great main and secondary character's, strong on romance, no cheating and a tad of spice. I'm not going into the blurb, as many have described it better than I. (ljb)

Disappointing and cringey men conversations

I like the story but the story about th conversation between men is not believable..I also cannot believe it was Olivia to teach Finch society rules when it is Wynter more experienced with the ton. Finch's mother is evil. She could have written her own son after she has remarried but instead raised 2 other sons. There are just too many gaps in this story that I despair. It does not paint how Finch is the most adorable especially in saving Donovan from himself. Like I said since Wyatt's story, men just don't talk that way. So corny!!!

Destiny With a Duke by Alexa Aston is the climactic end of the Dukes Done Wrong series featuring the Turner Terrors as each became a duke and found the love of his life. Now it is Finch's turn and he is heart-broken when he discovers his brother has committed suicide. The solicitor brings as letter at the same time he breaks the news to Finch. Finch is again heart-broken when he reads his brother's words, detailing the same abuse at his grandfather's hands that Finch had received. Cyril had turned to food and become incredibly obese which had lead to other problems, culminating in his choice of escape. Now Finch was the Duke of Sommersby, although he could not stand to be called by that name. Lady Victoria Pemberton was a widow, her husband had died over a years earlier at the hands of a prostitute. His tastes apparently ran to hurting others and maybe her hurt her too much. Who knew? All she knew was, that despite the gossip, she was going to London to participate in the season and find a husband who would give her a child. She wanted children more than anything. She met Finch at the fist ball and there was an instant attraction. More importantly, the wives of his friends, the other Turner Terrors, took her under their wings, protecting her from the worst of the gossip, and her first four dances were with their husbands. Dancing with four dukes solidified her attractiveness and her dance card was always full. But Finch could never marry. He could not fool her on that point, so he left.

We have wondered for the previous four books what Finch had done to be sent tot he Turner Academy and now we know his story. Aston did not hold back in the telling of it. The damage was probably even greater than what she portrayed to us and what a heart-wrenching story it is. And what a strong women Victoria is to be willing the love Finch through all of it. The society at this time is even more buttoned up than ours is and women were hidden behind closed doors and not able to be part of many things that were happening. For many years the old Duke of Sommersby had kept Finch's mother away from her sons with threats, making everything so much worse for two small boys. This is a fabulous series and this final book deserves accolades far beyond what I am able to give in this simple review. Amazing! Astounding!

I've been waiting for Finch's story for quite a while and was thrilled to finally read it. The last of the five Turner Terrors to meet his match, Finch has been the most mysterious of the lot. He never shared with his friends the reason that he was sent to the Turner Academy, a boarding school. And unlike his friends, he remained behind as a vicar after university, while the other four entered the military like all second sons were expected to do. As each Terror met and married the woman of his dreams, Finch was there to perform the service and celebrate the joys, but he never showed any interest in accepting joy into his own life.

In this story, Finch--like his friends before him--unexpectedly inherits a dukedom. He goes to London to participate in the Season, though he never intends to marry or have children. He also never expects to meet someone like Victoria, a recent widow whose husband died a most scandalous death at the hands of a prostitute. The two hit it off instantly, but Finch runs hot and cold. Victoria, already on shaky terms with the ton because of her husband murder, senses that Finch's reticence stems from something in his past and not because he doesn't care for her. However, she longs to remarry and hopefully have children.

What holds Finch back is a horrific backstory involving child abuse (I'll add a more specific trigger warning at the end of this review). Finch feels that his past makes him unworthy of a woman like Victoria. Everyone sees that the two belong together, but Finch just can't seem to take that leap of faith.

Eventually the two find their way to their HEA, which is not a spoiler to announce. After all, this story is Regency romance. It just takes since a while for Finch to open up to Victoria. That said, his healing seems to happen a little faster than one would expect. I think that had Victoria learned the truth a little earlier and more time had been spent on the two of them working through things together, it might have felt more complete. However, I give the author, Alexa Aston HUGE props for tackling such a difficult backstory.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Trigger warning: Child physical and sexual abuse in a character's past, broadly alluded to for most of the story and then described in detail towards the end.

Of the five books in this series, Destiny with a Duke is the most heart-breaking. Finch is the only one of the Turner Terrors who never spoke of the reason for being turned out and banished from his home. With his family turning their backs on him, the only ones he could depend on were his fellow Terrors and his benefactors, the Earl and Countess of Marksby. Appraised of the death of his brother leaves Finch the new Duke of Sommersby, unprepared to face the responsibilities ahead of him. Without the assistance offered to him by his friends and their wives, Finch knows he would never have coped. When he first espies Lady Victory Pemberton, he feels himself being drawn to her, but with his past, Finch is not prepared to commit himself to relationships or to marriage. Victoria is the perfect woman for him in every way. She understands the horrors of a marriage gone wrong and the indignity of the scandal unleashed on her in the wake of her husband's murder. Finch's reactions to his past and the flashbacks he experiences are fully consistent with the horrors he endured and it is a brave author willing to tackle this subject, sometimes referred to as “The World's Best Kept Secret”. Just when he thought he had lost everything that is most meaningful in his life, the mother that had been absent when he needed her most, steps into the breach, demanding that he faces up to the past. In Victoria, he finds compassion, healing, and restoration. I received a copy of this emotional, but very worthwhile, novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This highly anticipated last book of the series was well worth the wait, Alexa Aston does a superb job of giving readers one of the most emotional and beautifully written stories of the bunch.
Finch had always kept his reason of why he was sent away to Turner Academy a secret and for good reason. The writing of the issue is done very well here, with sensitivity and all the emotion. The inner turmoil of Finch is so very relatable and understandable. The one thing I didn't quite buy was the immediate acceptance of his mother and her family just because Victoria told him to make amends. Yes, he saw things from her perspective but I would think after so much pent-up anger, forgiveness wouldn't come so easy.
Victoria is trying to return to society with her head held high after the murder of her husband by a prostitute. She was sheltered and in a loveless marriage, all's she wants is her happy ending.
I honestly did not care for Victoria. I think there was way too much mentioning and emphasis placed on the need for a husband and the need to have children before she is too old. This made her seem petty and that she was only out for a man. True she didn't care for titles, but she was desperate and on the hunt and while Finch and her work out, I think she needed to be written a bit better for him.

Overall this is a fantastic book that you do not want to pass up reading. It is a stand-alone but it does help to have read the previous ones. It is a slow-burn, sweet romance with strong writing and very well put together.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my review.

5 enthusiastic stars!!! I was so happy to finally read this book. The last book of any series is so tricky to write and there was so much buildup for Finch's story over the first 4 books. I have to confess I went directly to the end of the book first to see how everything resolved then I sat down to start from the beginning.

Finch, a grandson of an abusive duke, is sent to the Turner academy with his fellow terrors at the age of 10. He never tells them what happened and it creates some mystery about his past and his character. Settled happily as a vicar for the parish on the property of the Turner Academy's sponsors, the quiet life he's resigned to is disrupted with the death of his brother, the current duke. Lady Victoria, fresh off an oppressive marriage to an older man, is looking for a husband she can build a life and have children with. It's an instant connection when Victoria and Finch, now Duke of Sommersby, meet in a ballroom.

I love how Finch can't stay away from Victoria. I also love how they both had histories they were trying to overcome. It put them on equal footing and made their connection much sweeter. When I finally found out Finch's secret, it wasn't as much of a shock. I will say - trigger warning. It's very detailed. Victoria becomes a healing presence and loving her finally allows Finch his happiness. I also loved how strong willed Victoria is despite her background, she's ready to fight for Finch when his demons threaten to destroy them. I really loved this couple and found their story to be very realistic. This was probably my favorite in the series.

Five boys accused of horrible acts that did not commit, banished from their homes, and sent to Turner Academy, a school for troubled boys. They become brothers of the heart and are affectionately known as the Turner Terrors. This is Finch’s story. He was the only one of the Terrors who did not share the reason for his being sent to Turner Academy, and the only one who did not make the military his career. He became a vicar. His reason, to serve others and to save his own soul.

At his brother’s death, Finch becomes the one thing her never wanted to be, the Duke of Sommersby. When he comes to London his fellow Terrors and their wives support and help to acclimate him to his new role. He also meets Victoria Samuel, Lady Pemberton, a widow just rejoining Society. Victoria and Finch are drawn to each other, but Finch, wracked by the secrets he carries from his childhood, doesn’t want to bring his pain to her. Victoria is perfect for him. She is patient, kind, and compassionate. She encourages him to open up and let go of his past. I love that she was instrumental in repairing the rift with his mother. There are scenes in this one that make you angry, scenes that break your heart, and finally scenes that make you happy for the last of the Turner Terrors to find love. A compelling story, awesome characters, excellent series.

I have been waiting to find out Finch's story since he was introduced in the first Dukes Done Wrong book and the final reveal did not disappoint. A warning to readers though, his backstory is much darker and more traumatic than that of his friends. I completely understood why he was resistant to marriage (even after meeting Victoria who was obviously his other perfect other half), but I still want to smack him upside the head every time he broke her heart. I liked Victoria from the first moment and loved that she did not give up on Finch even when he refused to open up and set out to abandon her. She was patient and understanding and made it possible for Finch to come to terms with everything in his own time. And of course I loved the other dukes and their wives, especially how Emery spoke her mind with Finch while assuring him that he was still loved.

There was only one thing that I felt was a missed opportunity by the author: the bitchy women who are cruel to Victoria regarding her deceased husband never get their comeuppance (the same thing happened in Olivia & Hart's tale) - what can I say, I'm petty and like to see people who are mean to my characters get what they deserve.

This was another great series by Ms. Aston and I am very looking forward to see what she gifts us with next!

Ms. Aston is a new-to-me author, but being a fan of Regency romance, I was excited to try her new book, and I was not disappointed. This is the the fifth book of her Dukes Gone Wrong series. This was a story filled with heartwrenching emotion and I could not put it down. William Finchley, referred to by everyone as Finch, has been estranged from his family since the time he was sent to Turner Academy as a child. When his brother commits suicide, he becomes the new Duke of Sommersby. He has been living with a dark secret from his past, which he has not even shared with his closest friends. Although he enters into society, he has no intention of marrying and having children, until he meets Victoria. She makes him question everything he believes. Victoria has been linked to scandal, thanks to her late husband. All she wants is to find a kind and caring man for a husband. Finch's story was heartbreaking to read, but the caring and compassion that Victoria showed him was just beautiful. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. They were so well-defined and relatable and you can't help but fall in love with them. This is the last book of the series and I have not read any of the others, but I will definitely be going back to read those as well.
A very well-written story and I am happy to have had the chance to read!

William Finchley (Finch) one of the five Turner Terrors and he has never discussed his secret or the reason he was sent to the Turner Academy for boys. Never expecting or wanted the title of the Duke but when his brother committed suicide it is exactly what he will become. Vowing never to marry or have any children William is thrust into society.

Victoria never had a season, she was married off to a man who never allowed her to do anything. Victoria was not allowed to have friends or visitors. The one thing Victoria wanted most but never had was children to love. When her husband unexpectedly died Victoria was determined to have a season and find a good kind man for a husband and have children. When Victoria and Finch meet both are quite taken with each other and enjoy spending time together, but Victoria knows that Finch has secrets and he will never discuss them, even when Victoria bares her sole to Finch he still stands aloof. Finch risks losing the one thing that could help him heal and have the life he deserves, Victoria.

This is the final book in the series but a stand alone book. I have read all of the series and loved them all but this was my favorite! I totally fell in love with Finch he just grabbed my heart. Definitely loved this book and definitely recommend reading!

I am going to start by saying this book can be a trigger for people who have been a victim of sexual assault, as it plays a big part in the story.

Now, for my review. I have been waiting for Finch's story from the very beginning! All the other Terror's opened up about why they were sent to the Turner's School, he never told his tale, and what a heartbreaking story it is. Instead of going into the military, he becomes a vicar, because he feels it suits him better. After an unexpected turn of events he becomes the Duke and therefore has to go to London where he meets Victoria. Victoria is a widow who desperately wants children and a partner in life. As she gets to know Finch, she wants that man to be him, but he is determined to never bring his hurt and pain into her life.

There are many heartbreaking scenes in this story, but there are also many heartwarming moments. I love how Victoria knows what she wants and decides to go after it, and her strength. It is the perfect contrast for Finch's vulnerabilities. I absolutely adored this series. I will be looking forward to other titles by Alexa Aston.

Destiny with a Duke is book 5 in the Dukes Done Wrong series and we finally find out why finch was sent to the Turner Academy all those years ago.
Finch becomes Duke of Sommersby after his brothers death. Finch was living a peaceful life as a vicar in the country and was not prepared to live the life of a Duke.
Lady Victoria Pemberton is a young widow who wants nothing more than to remarry and have a child of her own.
I was super excited to read this book and it did not disappoint. We finally find out why Finch was sent to the Turner Academy. All I can say is that it was very sad and horrific what happened to Finch and I felt so sad that no one was there to help him as they were all to frightened and bullied by the same man.
I loved the instant attraction that Finch and Victoria had. They were very well suited and it was great that both of them could put there pasts behind them so they could move forward with there marriage.
A great conclusion to a fantastic series that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to Netgalley, Dragonblade publishing and the author for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
