A country music heartthrob and his long-lost love walk into a wedding...

Will Truitt grew up living a country song. His momma died, his daddy went to prison, and his dog ran away. Now, as superstar Billy Brenton, his life should be pretty dang good. But he hasn't been able to write a decent song in months. Crashing a wedding in a quirky little bridal-obsessed town is supposed to provide inspiration to get his career back on track. Instead, all he finds are regrets when he comes face-to-face with the only woman to ever crush his heart.

Lindsey Castellano gave up on love a long time ago. As a cutthroat divorce attorney on the outskirts of a town devoted to brides, weddings, and happily ever after, she's honed her skills at avoiding love, commitment, and inevitable heartbreak. Or so she thought until Will Truitt reappears in her life.

When Lindsey shattered Will's heart fifteen years ago, she'd been a sorority girl on her way to the top. He'd been a lowly janitor with a dream. Now he's on top of the world, and she's the last person he should need or want.

But she's the only person who has ever inspired his music. And he's the only man she's never been able to forget. Have the years made them wiser, stronger, and better able to love, or this time, will they simply crash and burn harder?

Jamie Farrell header:

Matched is book two in the Misfit Brides of Bliss series by Jamie Farrell. This book was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Jamie Farrell Misfit Brides series:

Lindsey Castellano is from Bliss, Illinois, The Most Married-est Town on Earth. So it was to the chagrin of many when she grew up and became a divorce lawyer. To not add further fuel to the fire, she moved thirty miles away to Willow Glen. Even more of a surprise to those who knew about it, was Lindsey’s choice of a profession when she possessed a very unique ability, one that made her feel like somewhat of a freak, one that she did not consider a gift at all. She has the ability to tell if two people are a perfect match, or if they are not destined for each other. In other words, she is a matchmaker.

Back when Lindsey was in college, she made the mistake of letting her friends know that the boyfriends they were dating were not the right match for them. This eventually alienated her friends from her. She was nineteen years old, on a ski trip, and feeling very alone, when she met Will Truitt. He was a janitor with big dreams of being a famous country music star someday. They had one wonderful week together. One week where they fell in love, or so Will thought. At the end of the week, Will very publicly proclaimed his love to Lindsey, and she broke his heart.

sexy guitar player:

Fast forward fifteen years. Will is now known as Billy Brenton, mega country music star. It is Lindsey’s sister Natalie’s wedding in Bliss and Billy knows the groom’s sister so he has agreed to crash the wedding and sing a couple of songs for the bride and groom. It was here that his eyes met Lindsey’s. The eyes of the woman he has never been able to forget. The eyes that belonged to the woman that helped him to write many a song.

Billy’s music hasn’t been flowing as easily lately. In fact, it has pretty much dried up. And as soon as he saw Lindsey, the notes began to come together in his head, the music came back. Is this a second chance for them? Does Lindsey even remember him?

“She was the only one who made him hear music. The only one who made him feel home. The only one who wanted nothing more than for him to be plain, simple Will Truitt.”

boxer lab mix:

First, I want to say that I have already read the next book, the novella, #2.5, Smittened. It is the story of Billy’s drummer, Mikey, and Dahlia. The story line runs parallel to this one so I loved knowing what was going on with Mikey during this time. It really added a lot. So either way, if you read it before or after, make sure you read both.

sexy stubble:

I loved this book. Jamie Farrell has such a fun, humor filled way of telling her stories. But underneath it all, there are always characters that you can’t help but to fall in love with, characters with flaws and hearts as big as Montana. Billy thought that fulfilling his dream of being a big star would make him happy. And Lindsey spent her life trying to deny who she really was, keeping her lawyer face on but wearing her smiley face panties to remind herself of who she used to be. But there was only one person who made those smiley faces wake up and maybe even wink.

smiley face with a wink:

“Though everyone who mattered to him told him to walk away, though Lindsey herself told him to walk away, he was still here. And she was still glad.”

This is a story of second chances at love and accepting who you are and finding your place in life. The place that makes those smiley faces smile and makes our hearts sing.

This was a free offering through Amazon and is book 2 in the ‘Misfit Brides’ series. To date there are 6 books in the series.

The rating is MA: mature audience due to language [mild profanity], graphic/descriptive sex and sensual behavior. Yeah, they had the hots for each other. There was also a paranormal element with several of the characters… nothing witchy… just feelings and a sense of things.

Book 1 [Blissed: Natalie Castellano and CJ Blue] set the stage and foundation for this series which was set in the town of Bliss. A wedding themed town that catered to everything a future bride or engaged couple could want. A complete venue for all things wedding.

Coming off a Regency bender… I had a hard time connecting with this modern story. This was a lot of country singing, happy bar scenes [I swear… any minute I expected someone to yell out ‘Norm’], southern cooking, guitars, dogs, a man’s truck and sweet tea. I had a terrible time getting accustomed to the flow of the language and the descriptive writing style. It centered on yankee snark with a sprinkling of southern drawl. I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be funny or sarcastic. Half the time I was wading through adjectives, excessive descriptions and innuendos regarding sensual bodily functions and sexual reactions. It was a bit embarrassing.

We have lots of characters which, I am sure, will be featured throughout this series. There are numerous siblings [I lost count of the number], and the girls have spice names… Saffron, Pepper, Cinna, Ginger, Sage, Margie… I’m sure more will be revealed in future stories. I doubt I will care. It was simply too confusing.

“You’re what I’ve been looking for my whole life, and if you let me, I’ll love you for the rest of yours.” –Robin Bielman, Keeping Mr. Right Now

This was a long story and it was hard fought. Will Truitt met and fell in love with Lindsey Castellano, a sorority girl on vacation. He fell hard and she broke his heart when she walked/stalked away. Fifteen years later, he’s an award-winning country music artist, stage name ‘Billy Brenton,’ and she is a divorce lawyer. I did not care for her one bit. Her attitude got old quickly and I wanted to shake her until her teeth rattled. She was stubborn and obstinate and treated him terribly. I wanted to tell him to run and run far.

After a while, the story simply became painful and I wanted to slit my own throat. I quickly decided I did not want to read book 1, even to find out how it all started. And… I definitely don’t want to read the rest of the series, especially if they are like this one… nope… nada… no way. I am sorry… I know there are many 5-star reviews, but it just did not do it for me.

What an amazing book! I just loved Lindsey and Will's story. I love that Lindsey tries to keep her matching making skills hidden. This book will make you laugh and keep you wondering what will happen next. It has romance and drama. A little bit of everything to keep you guessing. I love this series! This book can be read alone or as part of the series. I can't wait to see what happens to Kimmie.

DNF at p. 225 of 281. I can't take anymore. This is too terrible. The story is stupid the characters absurd, and the lyrics (the MMC is a country star) are the worst lyrics I have ever read. Comparatively, Da Doo Ron Ron is Shakespeare, Boyfriend (the Bieber one) is Proust, and The Joker is Chekhov (though I don't think anyone called Chekhov Maurice.)

A psychic matchmaker/divorce lawyer and a budding country music star are reunited 15 years after a one-week vacation hookup when they were teenagers during which they were ruined for all others. She is constantly rude to everyone and he is a dumb hick who talks like one of the locals in Deliverance. Given the absurdity of the characters, it seems impossible that their courtship could be dull but it really is. The high point is the appearance of novelty cupcakes baked by a woman who appears to be in a constant state of psychosis (seriously, it is an endless word salad) which everyone politely ignores. The FMC apparently is terrified of people (though she is fine doing contentious divorces) and cannot deal with his fame. I got so close to the end but realized I didn't care at all about what happened to these people and that I have better books to read. Agh!

I liked this book. I think it was too long though, for what it was, but wtv. Lindsey was so afraid of being with him that she broke both of their hearts twice, it was really bad and a lot. I understood where she was coming from but at the same time, I didn't. The drama wasn't there, they could be together but she complicated everything in her head. I liked it how in the very end, she was the one that took the risk and went after him, it was necessary since he was the one that always went after her. Will was such an amazing guy, I loved him, he deserved someone who put him first and was there for him no matter what, that's why I was so pissed off at Lindsey half the time. They really did make a good couple, I liked them

A delightfully humorous second-chance-at-love romance conjoined with some fabulous swoon-worthy country songs

“Though everyone who mattered to him told him to walk away, though Lindsey herself told him to walk away, he was still here. And she was still glad.”

Jamie Farrell takes readers back to the quirky bridal-fixated town of Bliss, Illinois with MATCHED. Even though MATCHED is the second installment in her fun contemporary Misfit Brides series, it can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone read, if that is your preference. However, be aware that the town of Bliss and its colorful residents were first introduced in BLISSED. That said, the whole series is a sizzling wild ride and I recommend savoring it in order, if you can.

I listened to the audio edition of MATCHED with the fantastically talented Karen White narrating. Karen White is one of my all-time favorite narrators. Once again, Karen’s narration is really, truly wonderful. Her pacing is spot on. Her delivery is natural. I could listen to Karen all day and still be mesmerized. Her performances are always highly entertaining, polished and sublimely executed. I have discovered numerous new-to-me authors – including Jamie Farrell - thanks to Karen.

MATCHED is the story of Lindsey Castellano, Natalie’s sister, and Will Truitt, aka southern country music superstar Billy Brenton. As a divorce attorney, Lindsey has not exactly had the welcome mat rolled out to her in the most wedding-obsessed place on Earth. The next novella, SMITTENED, actually occurs parallel to MATCHED. It is the story of Billy’s drummer, Mikey, and Dahlia, an ice cream parlor entrepreneur. I can tell you right now that you will want to pick-up SMITTENED with MATCHED as they work very well together!

Fifteen years ago, Will and nineteen-year-old Lindsey met and fell madly in love on the ski slopes during spring break. Will was a janitor at the time with big dreams of being a famous country music star some day. However, Lindsey has a secret matchmaking gift and her gift said that she and Will were not a good match. When Will very publicly proclaimed his love to Lindsey, she broke his heart.

Fast forward fifteen years to the wedding of the hero and heroine from the first book. As a favor to the groom’s sister, Billy has agreed to crash the wedding and sing a few songs. As Billy looks out over the crowd, the eyes of the woman he has not been able to forget meet his. Does she remember him?

Jamie’s writing personifies Will’s and Lindsey’s fears, longings, pain and joy. Apart they are broken; together they are better versions of themselves. Without Lindsey, Billy’s music mojo has pretty much dried up. With Lindsey, the notes sing again. “She was the only one who made him hear music. The only one who made him feel home. The only one who wanted nothing more than for him to be plain, simple Will Truitt.”

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this mega entertaining listen:

“And this is Kimmie Elias.
”Kimmie inhaled a loud breath. “I had a dream you were the love child of Bugs Bunny and the abominable snowman, but in my dream that was a good thing, and you lived in a mushroom that had secret passages into outer space,” she said.
And here he thought he’d already heard it all.
---
Like Momma says, only thing you get by digging dirt is dirty.”
---
“Heard a rumor you can’t cook,” he said.
She didn’t look away from her reading. “You know rumors.
They’re always true.”
She had him there. According to some of the tabloids, he had fourteen love children, two with aliens and one with the sister of Bigfoot.
---
She ran her hands under his shirt, over his chest, her cool touch igniting shivers over his skin. “Is this a ploy to get another song out of me?” she asked.
“It’s a ploy to get you out of your pants.”
And what, exactly, are you planning on doing once you get me out of my pants?”
Will felt his lips curving up again. “Darlin’, you leave the
details to me.”

As with the first book, I found myself laughing-out loud often. I loved catching up with the Bliss townfolk including Natalie, CJ, Pepper and Kimmie; and a new canine character, Wrigley, solidified a claim on my heart. Jamie has written an intensely emotional tale with Southern sass. You certainly won’t want to miss the scoop on Lindsey’s smiley face panties. If you are looking for a delightfully humorous second-chance-at-love romance conjoined with some fabulous swoon-worthy country songs, check out Jamie Farrell’s MATCHED. AND don’t forget to pick up SMITTENED too!

This was an alright read. I just didn't like it that much because I found it pretty predictable and boring. I sometimes love cheesy books if they are executed perfectly, but this one was just a drag. It's the whole typical "I don't believe in love, it just leads to heartbreak, and I think that because I'm a divorce lawyer blah blah blah" and of course she's the one who falls in love- at her sister's wedding, after giving the same old speech she gives at all her sisters weddings. It was so expected. However, I got to admit, the beginning scene with the speech and introduction of the guy was pretty cute and that's what got me interested in reading it, but after that it just went downhill. It got repetitive, predictable, and it dragged on. There wasn't enough drama, no twists, and nothing had me on the edge of my seat. I consistently was awaiting the end of the book, hoping it would get more intense, but it didn't. And the next book in the series is called "smitten" and I'm not going to read it because I can already predict it's just going to continue to be about her falling in love and probably getting married. This is the second book in the series. I didn't even read the first book and nothing happened. I didn't miss anything, and there was no confusion. That just goes to show how useless it is to drag this storyline on for an entire series. Romance books are good as stand alone, after which they become redundant.

Matched by Jamie Farrell is book two in the Misfit Brides of Bliss series and can be read as a standalone for those that haven’t read the first book. But trust me, you will want to grab the whole series!

Matched revolves around Lindsey and Will getting a second chance at love. Lindsey and Will fell in love 15 years ago and all it took was one week for their feelings to set in. But, Lindsey is what you would call a matchmaker. She has this intuition about “bad matches” and decides to break up with Will by telling him they are a bad match. Will goes on to become a top rated country music star and Lindsey becomes a divorce lawyer. They never forgot about each other though!

Will makes an appearance at Lindsey’s sisters wedding and they finally see each other again. All the feelings and emotions come back and one thing is for sure, their chemistry is still as explosive as it was 15 years ago.

I adored Matched!!! Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. Matched is a heartwarming story about accepting and believing in yourself. Lindsey and Will are a must read!

It is fun and romantic read. I loved Lindsey and Will's story. Lindsay has a gift which has always made her feel like a freak, it alienated her from her friend. She can tell when a couple is a bad or good match. But regardless of that she chose to be a divorce attorney. She doesn't think that she owe anyone explanation, her reasons to choose this carrier are her own.
Will is a country music star. He is famous but he hasn't found a girl who is interested only in him and not his fame. Lindsey is the one who broke his heart a long time ago and maybe broke him as well. Yet here he is in her town looking for something, he doesn't even know what he is looking for. It just seems right to be around her after such a long time. This time he is older, wiser, and not letting her break his heart once again.
So once a long time ago they were a bad match but what about now? Has that changed or are they still a bad match?
This story is just amazing and now I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, 2 minutes after starting it I had to go buy the 1st and 3rd of the series.
There are a few authors on my list that I automatically grab, ones that I know without a doubt that I'll enjoy their books; Jamie Farrell is solidly on my list.
I adored the characters, the story was sweet and easy to read. Her writing style is clean, vivid, and fun. These books are a charming peek into small town life that will make you long for a place where everyone knows you.

After reading the first installment of the Misfit Brides series I had to continue with Matched. The second novel of the Misfit Brides series is lighthearted, emotional, and romantic stories that blend the magic of small-town charm, the thrill of rockstar romance, and the sweet serenade of country music, all set against the backdrop of a wedding that will bring together two long-lost loves in a second chance at happily ever after.
Reading about a reverse grumpy-sunshine second-chance romance is fun. Lindsey, our FMC is the grumpy because she doesn't know how to deal with her powers while wearing happy emoji faces underwear and Will, our MMC is the sunshine even though he has his storms to deal with as well as how to break the walls of Lindsey's heart so they can both fly to their happy ending.
There is a little spoiler in the epilogue of this book. Still, at the same time, we know that the next installment, Smittened is Kimmie's relationship happy ending, and independence from her mother (hopefully).

Reading this was such a roller coaster of emotion. I struggled getting on the story since there's so much slang that I can't understand. But halfway through, I actually started to like this. I had a hard time understanding who's who because there's too many characters and each character seems to be having different stories all at the same time. The story was great, the characters was great (Will, our main man, was basically perfection personified), the writing - ehh, I really don't really like it.

Will, now Billy, shows up at a wedding as a famous country singer... Lindsay is now a lawyer, on her own and it's all about work... 15 years ago though, it was as different story... they had a wonderful week until Lindsay ran and broke Will's heart. Now his songs are about that week. Now we get a second chance romance 15 years in the making. There are some other factors that are "driving" them together as well... overall an enjoyable read.

The second book in this series was better than the first one, I'm glad I continued with it.

I liked both main characters quite a bit. As a singer once in my life, the songwriting and shy partner hit home with me. They were cute and it had a decent enough conflict.

It was cute and fun, I'd recommend this one.

This was a book that I got free from Amazon. And you never know if those books are a steal of a deal or there's a reason why they are now offered free. This one, unfortunately, was the latter.
There were multiple times in the story where I thought of just putting it on my "Not finished" pile but the idea of someone having a "gift" to know if people are well matched together intrigued me and I wanted to see how our "gifted" character use her interesting powers and how it will end.
Unfortunately the rest of the story line didn't do it for me. First of all, the hero- Will/Billy was a country boy and you can sense this throughout the book, especially with the way he talks. However, I was annoyed with sentences that didn't start with a personal pronoun. It just made it sound like an unpolished sentence. For example, a sentence that would say "He would have noticed...." would be written as "Would have noticed...." Now I'm not a grammar police or a big English nut. I know I make mistakes with the things I write and say as well. However, reading a book that you would have expected have been edited and see these kinds of sentences, just really disappoints me.
I also didn't care much for the secondary characters. I felt like all of them were cuckoo's. You had a friend that has crazy weird dreams, and I mean C-R-A-Z-Y! They weren't even funny (if that was the intention of the writer). To me, they were just plain dumb. And what is with Marilyn, the so called "general". I didn't get that plot of hers getting Lyndsey to move back to their small town so she can use her "gift". It was so unrelatable.
I also didn't like how the main characters' stories where developed. I'm used to characters where the line up of revelations about them was organized in a way where you can totally understand where they were coming from by the middle or even 3/4 into the story. With this one, the revelations where all over the place and I didn't feel the writer gave it much thought as to how to properly organize the revelations in order for it to make sense for the reader.
And finally, the sensual tension for the two characters were disappointing. They did it, and yet the girl seemed bent on making it a temporary thing. And then on the next sexy scence, she gives in. And then regrets it again. I just couldn't quite get where she was coming from.
All in all, it was a disappointing read and I will not be reading anything more from this series or even this author. So sad!

I love the town of Bliss, all of its quirky residents and I love this series.

I've been waiting to read Billy's story since I finished Mikey & Dahlia's novella, Smittened earlier this year. If you haven't read it, you need to. These two stories run parallel to each other so to get the full effect of Billy and Mikey's stories, you should read them both.

This story is sweet and fun. Full of unique, strong personalities with an obsession with weddings and all things marriage related, this town has a never-ending stream of interesting moments.

I love Will and Lindsey together. They had great chemistry, even when they were both being stubborn. I love the idea of Lindsey as a matchmaker and how she fit into Bliss, despite her never-ending efforts to avoid using her gift. I liked Will more when he was Will then when he was Billy, until he understood that he could be both because they were both a part of who he was. Together they were the best people they could be.

What makes these stories so much fun is how all of the secondary characters come together to form a more complete picture. Even Marilyn, who makes me angry more than anything else, adds to the charm of this series. I love how the author weaves the storylines of each character, even from her other series, into her books without overshadowing the main characters of each story. It's great to revisit the couples we know and love and to get a glimpse at what's to come at the same time. Which brings me to Kimmie. I'm so ready for Kimmie's book. Her dreams crack me up and I'm not ashamed to say that I spend too much time trying to analyze her dreams, which I'm 99% sure is impossible or at least that I wouldn't really want to know what they mean.

If you like small-town, quirky, clean romances with a taste of music and magic then this is a must read.

***4.5 out of 5 stars***

I found Jamie Farrell's books when I was judging a contest and read Southern Fried Blues. I was immediately hooked on her voice and couldn't wait to read more books from her. The Misfit Brides of Bliss is a laugh out loud funny and sexy series. I swear I've never laughed so hard while reading a romance.

Matched was such a fun read for me. I loved both Will and Lindsey as individuals and as a couple. I love a reunion story and Matched was so well done. Will is now country super star Billy Brenton, and Lindsey is now a hot-shot divorce lawyer helping to bring to rights bad relationships. I love that Lindsey is a matchmaker at heart, even if she doesn't want to admit to it.

Will and Lindsey have amazing chemistry and I loved that when he is around her, he hears music and is able to write his songs. Seriously they are so cute together considering they are so very different. I really felt like their differences helped them to work as a couple. Lindsey is so pragmatic and Will seems like he goes with the flow so much better. The chemistry between Lindsey and Will is super hot and I loved they laughed together as much as they loved together.

Honestly part of the reason I love this series so much is one of the secondary characters, Kimmie. She makes me laugh so hard and is the best friend both Lindsey and her sister Natalie. The girlfriend time in the books is every bit as important to the story as the romance. I also love how the town of Bliss plays such an important role in the story. The town is really a character unto itself.

Matched was a great addition to the Misfit Brides of Bliss series and I can't wait to read more books in the future. I highly recommend Matched to anyone who loves a funny, sweet, and sexy contemporary romance.

Jamie Farrell has done it again! She writes captivating love stories with a little bit of everything. They are sweet and funny with sizzle and conflict, and the happily ever after that I always hope for. It is easy to fall in love with her characters because they are just so real. In Matched Lyndsey is a divorce lawyer with a gift for matchmaking, though she only admits to knowing if a couple is a good or bad match. She met Will when she was still a student. He was a janitor who could write songs and sing. She broke his heart publicly when he wrote a song about her panties and declaring his love. When Billy Brenton makes an appearance at her sister's wedding Lyndsey realizes that it is her Will from ten years ago, and the attraction is still alive and well. They get thrown together again when Billy's house burns and he needs a place to stay. Billy realizes that she is still the girl for him when he starts writing songs while staying with her. She tries to deny her feelings and insists that she is not his match but he is persistent and shows her in so many little ways that he is still in love with her and always will be. What woman can resist a country superstar that makes her chocolate chip cookies, brings home a puppy, and writes love songs about her panties? Smittened, Book 2.5 in the Misfit Brides of Bliss series runs concurrently with Matched. It is about Billy's drummer Mikey and Dahlia. They pop up in Matched. CJ's sisters and Kimmie make the story fun and funny. It has all the great characters and zaniness that I have come to expect from any book by Jamie Farrell. I am so looking forward to Kimmie's story next!

I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions are my own.

Will and Lindsey shared a memorable week together when they were young. Now will they get their second chance or be over before they even get started?

Will fell in love with Lindsey years ago as just a boy who loves to play his guitar and sing. With Lindsey believing in him he can accomplish anything. But the end of their week was anything but happy ever after. Now years later, Will aka country superstar Bill Brenton, shows up in her town. And he wants a few more weeks to try and win her heart.

Linsey has fought her true calling as a matchmaker forever. As a divorce attorney she feels she is doing her part helping people get their second chance. Knowing in her heart she will never have her own. But when Will shows up and a fire leaves him homeless, she takes him in. But another fire ignites between them. Afraid and believing her second sight about her and Will she refuses to stay with him. Butvfate has other ideas.

Loved this story so much!!! Second chance loves, favorite characters revisited, hijinks, and plenty of laugh out loud moments keep you reading!!

This is the second book in the Misfit Brides series and is wonderful. It is nice to go back to Bliss and catch up with all the crazy characters. It can be read as a stand alone because it is the second chance love story of Will(Billy) and Lindsey but I recommend reading Blissed also because it is a wonderful story. Lindsey and Will met when they were just nineteen and meet again at Natalie's, Lindsey's sisters wedding. Lindsey doesn't think she can do long term relationships and Will knows that Lindsey is the only girl for him. She believed in him when nobody else seemed too and now he wants to do the same for her. He just needs to help her see what he sees when he looks at her. They end up roommates due to the rental house Will was in going up in flames. Lindsey gives Will three weeks and he hopes that will be enough time to change her mind to forever.

This is a wonderful book because it blends humor, bittersweet moments and sweet romance. I highly recommend this book.
