Zack gets up and goes to school every morning. Zack has close friends. Zack is a teen writer that is looking to make sense of the world around him. But...Zack has a secret. Besides his discovery of having feelings for other boys like himself...he is also dealing with the horrors of domestic abuse from his father at home. Something that he is trying desperately trying to keep from those he cares about the most. It isn't until an unspeakably beautiful boy that he meets in school that his entire world is thrown into chaos. What does it all mean? Can he truly love the boy of his dreams? Can he accept that love if it's returned to him? Only time will tell. Zack needs an escape...and Brody might just be the salvation that he's been looking for.
This book has my heart practically in my throat, the torment and torture the protagonist endures, all while being conflicted about receiving affections from a boy who he likes is just so poignant. Certainly worth the read, but for those who can’t stomach any violence, especially to children, I’d proceed with caution.
