Hi. I'm Jonas, upside down nerd holding a laptop on the cover. You might be wondering why I'm upside down. I'll tell you why! It's because that's what happens to my life!
It all starts with a paid vacation from my boss. So, I'm down in Florida not loving it, but trying to make the most of the situation, and then... this guy with the most beautiful blue eyes starts talking to me. Oh yeah! Things get a little crazy from there. There are margaritas involved, so I'm sure you can imagine.
Well, guess what. I wake up two days later with a gun against my head. It gets worse from there. I find out that someone is willing to shell out a lot of money to see me dead.
I don't want to be dead!
This is just the beginning of my journey of being on the run and falling in love with two men that are supposed to collect the bounty. Yeah, two! Want to find out how it happens? It's all right here on these pages.
**This is an MMM novel written from three POVs. This book is packed with action, suspense, hitmen, a nerd, awkward humor, and budding love.
Eve R. Hart has a habit of weaving stories laced thick with romance. They often bounce between awkward humor and dark themes- sometimes making a scary combination of the two. It doesn’t matter how it comes, she just wants love to win at the end of the day.
Eve lives on the coast of North Carolina with their partner in chaos, three beautifully nerdy kids, and a ridiculously sweet dog. When they need a break, you’ll find Eve lost in a book, playing board games with her family, or whipping up something crazy in the kitchen.
This was nice and unexpected. I enjoyed it for the most part. Each mc had a distinct voice, and once they got together, meaning Rex got his head out of his ass, I liked their respective relationships.
The mystery of who's the real bad guy went back and forth to kind of shake you up and kept me guessing.
I enjoyed the epilogue.
My little niggles that are entirely my own: ❎There's some jealousy in the beginning that I don't like in MMM relationships. I want everyone on equal footing. ❎Rex got on my nerves with his coldness until he got his head out of his ass. ✅ Then, I loved his possessiveness. ❎I wish we could have gotten more of Rex and Levi. Jonas is the glue that holds them all together, and while we're told Rex and Levi love each other and have been in love with each other for years, we don't actually see it. Honestly, you could have taken either of them and just had him as a sidekick. ❎I didn't feel the relationship much with all 3 together. Rex and Jonas, and Levi and Jonas, yes, but the 3 together didn't check all my buttons. Bummer. I'm a romance reader first, so I need that development.
But overall, it was enjoyable when nothing else has held my interest lately.
This book was really good I liked the dynamic between the characters even if it didn't start out that great. The characters were interesting a couple of assassin's that have a lot of tension between them and the person they were sent to kill that they both fall for. There is a great cast of characters things are worked out the story was really interesting will read more of the series at some point. The plot was interesting it starts with a guy Jonas who is on vacation goes home with a guy who caught his eye he finds out the hard way that there is a hit out on him then many things happen and there is a happy ever after.
This book was so good. I could not put it down. Cute nerdy Jonas somehow gets a hit put out on his life. Enter Levi and Rex. Levi is so adorable and funny. Rex may not show it but loves deep. I laughed so much during this book, even through all the suspense. Plus all the steamyness you've come to expect from Ms. Hart. This book will definitely be on my reread list. ❤❤❤
Love in the Crosshairs has suspense and mystery. I could see there was a connection and chemistry between the characters. A good amount of sex and a happy ending. This was just an okay read for me. I just didn't seem to connect with the story or invest in the relationship of the characters. Though I really wanted to, it just didn't happen.
I loved the idea of this book and for the most part was entertained. Curiosity kept me invested and while there were no plot holes it felt like it was missing something. It was enemies to lovers insanely fast and I'm not against instalove it just didn't make sense with how these characters were being portrayed. It was good and like I said, entertained but it felt disjointed.
This book is more than I was expecting. Good writing. Very deep emotions and a plot that is a little surprising. I wouldn’t mind more books from this universe so that the various side characters get their own HEA.
This is a URBC pick from May. Our characters are Jonas, who has a hit taken out on him; Levi, the first one to take the contract for the hit; and Rex, the one that jumps to take the contract when Levi doesn't fulfill it. Rex and Levi have their own history of hookups but nothing more (but obvs this is romanceland and that's not really the whole story), and they're both pretty quickly enamored with Jonas. He's just such a sweetheart to everyone they can't help but fall for him. The book alternates between each MCs POV, and it is unique for each person. Jonas is sweet and soft; Levi has ADHD and his thoughts tend to race and jump from topic to topic. Rex is a true caretaker, feeding, protecting, and saving his love interests repeatedly. I just loved them all.
As a whole the book was very entertaining with lots of action and I liked the characters. The resolution was pretty neat and tidy, but I still liked the whole story. There was the typical violence you'd expect in an action book with assassins, but it's pretty pulpy rather than a horror show.
For the content warnings: all of the MCs share their childhood/history, but it's extremely brief and doesn't get much attention or page time.
I have been a weird book headspace lately where nothing is feeling right, but then I picked up Love in the Crosshairs and everything felt right.
When the book started I had a completely different idea of where I thought it was going to go and it took a hard right and then did a 180 and shocked me right out of that.
I absolutely ADORE Jonas character, I just think he is wonderfully perfect and I so wish I could be his best friend. The banter between the three characters is magic and though it is a suspenseful romance there are perfectly placed comedic breaks. The type of humor was right up my alley and I just couldn't get enough.
Love in the Crosshairs is one of my favorite books this year and will definitely be a re-read for me. I already know!
Menage with Rex, Levi, and Jonas. I loved how this started out with Jonas and Levi, then Rex enters the picture and it all goes to hell. The three of them cracked me up by the end. Rex took a bit to warm up to because he was so cold but once he came out of his shell he was hot. Levi and his adhd were hilarious and relatable. Definitely continuing the series.
