She’s a journalist who just tanked her career. He’s a baseball star hiding from scandal. Neither of them planned on a Halloween wedding meet-cute… but the sparks are impossible to ignore.

When Emma Grayce Murphy ditches Boston to stand by her bestie’s side, the last thing she expects is to collide with the one man the tabloids are hunting—pro baseball phenom, Eli Masterson. One look across the pumpkin-lit town square and she’s under his skin. One kiss, and they’re both in deeper than they should be.

But there’s one little problem: Eli thinks she might be the journalist who trashed his reputation. And if that’s true, their instant connection could vanish faster than a ghost at dawn.

With small-town charm, Halloween vibes, and a swoony athlete who falls hard and fast, Spellbound is a witty, steamy instalove romance that proves love can be magical.

If you’re brave enough to believe in it.

I loved reading this fun novella: a Halloween-themed wedding, a little drama, and lots of steam. Kissing Creek is the perfect small-town backdrop for EG and Eli to get to know each other as they help their friends prepare for their wedding.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This novella was suggested to me on my Kindle and since I'm enjoying holiday-themed novellas lately, I decided to give it a try.

There isn't really any Halloween to speak of here other than decorating for a Halloween-themed wedding taking place in the background of the action. Not a lot of plot to go along with the spicy bits. Disappointing to me that it didn't really feel like a seasonal story since that's how it is advertised with this new cover, but other readers on Goodreads seem to like it (based on reviews for the listing with the other cover, which probably should be combined with this one since it's the same book).

Spellbound was a quick, easy, sweet read. Emma Grayce and Eli are both in need of a distraction from life, when they're thrown together at a friends wedding in the small town of Kissing Creek. Little did they both know, this would be the best thing that could have happened to them.
Set against the backdrop of a Halloween wedding, Spellbound weaved its magic on EG and Eli, as they found a love that neither expected.

Quick read, some parts were hard to understand and we are left hanging on the end.

Elijah Masterson meets Emma Grace when he is trying to hide out from the press. Eli just signed a contract with a baseball team and his ex girlfriend spread rumors about him. So he goes back home to visit his grandmother. Emma Grace best friend is getting married and she’s a maid of honor. She gets fired from her job after refusing to do research on Eli “the master” Masterson because she is supposed to be going to her best friends wedding. When EG arrives in town she heads to the local diner after she orders her burger her best friend Stephanie finds her. They all sit around the table and Stephanie suggests Emma Grace and Eli get to know one another. They are the only singles at her wedding. Eli takes Emma Grace out for the night, they had to the local bar for trivia night. He can’t believe how wonderful she is, and the spunk she has. Emma Grace drew a picture of her perfect man and she can’t believe he’s standing in front of her. After trivia night they want to get to know each other they head back to her rented home. He asked her if he can come inside and she drags him in. He asked if he can kiss her and she starts kissing him. They get physical and he stays the night. They have to be up early the next day for the wedding. They go and get everything set up for Stephanie‘s wedding. Eli suggest they go on a picnic and she asked if there’s water nearby. They grab something to eat and head to the river. Their picnic is cut short because of mosquitoes. They go back to her place and he spends the night. He sees a future with Emma Grace and it doesn’t scare him. The next day Stephanie called in a panic they can’t find Elijah. Emma Grace tell Stephanie he is with her. At the rehearsal dinner they enjoyed themselves, afterwords they head to the bar. They all get tipsy and dance. When Eli orders another drink the bartender recognizes him. Emma Grace asked him if he’s keeping something from her. He tells her he tried to explain who he was, when she finds out she heads home. At the wedding Emma Grace avoids Eli. He tries to talk to her but she won’t listen. He cornered her and asked her if she read the article. She tells him of course she did he is the reason she was fired. Emma Grace was supposed to do a story on him but refused. Eli tells her some of the story is true, he did sign a contract but everything else was made up by his ex girlfriend. He tells her he is headed to Florida for a vacation and wants her to go with. She also tells him they are both from Boston so they don’t need to have a long distance relationship. They both live in the same town.

Emma & Eli’s story is a quick read, and as such it’s missing a lot of depth. There’s about a 60 hour timeframe between them being encouraged to hang out together in the midst of their mutual friends’ pre-wedding activities and the “I love yous”. Lots of typos and editing issues as well.

It was cute but thats it. Because of how short it was it made the connection between the two MCs feel really shallow. It was only like 3 days before they met and had their "first" date to them saying "I love you". Still, even with that, it was really adorable.

Writer Emma works for a small paper writing fluff pieces. Eli is the subject of some nasty allegations by his ex. Emma's boss wants an expose about the Eli the pitcher who dumped his girlfriend and did her wrong. The both end up as partners for a small town wedding. They hit it off famously and virtually spend the weekend together. Gossip threatens to pull them apart but their connection is strong even if it's new.

I thought this would have been a fallish read based off the cover, but it really wasn’t. It was still a good read, the characters were cute. Just was a little disappointed that it wasn’t a fall read.

3🌟 this was ok. It was a novella. Emma Grace and Eli. The “Emma Grace” was annoying. Just call her Emma or EG like her friend.
