Nessun tradimento. Nessun finale in sospeso.
This was a good read. Cora wants a baby and luckily she eventually ends up getting that wish. However, Thomas isn't as thrilled. He still hasn't gotten over the death if his wife. Luckily by then end he gets it together and they get a happy ending.
Cara can’t find someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with and have a family with so she decides to go to a fertility clinic. Imagine her surprise when she meets the doctors and comes face to face with Thomas, her ex. The only man she’s ever felt a true connection with but unfortunately he didn’t feel the same way. The sizzling chemistry is still there between them and after spending time together, they end up spending the night together. Resulting in the pregnancy she’s always wanted but he didn’t. Things become complicated with family and friends and feelings start to grow. Cara no longer knows if Thomas can love her or if he’s afraid of love after the devastating loss of his first wife. This was an emotional read. The characters have a true connection but unfortunately they sometimes hurt each other by not telling each other their true feelings. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thomas was the hot obstetrician doctor that frustrated me many times. I felt bad that he had lost his wife a few years earlier, but he was being ridiculous about not getting in a relationship with someone again. He and Cora had hit it off, especially in the bedroom. Cora wanted a baby and when she told Thomas he ran as fast as he could with no explanation. I can’t imagine what Cora went through when a few years later she goes to a clinic to see about artificial insemination and the doctor is Thomas. I know they were both surprised that there was still an attraction between the two. The attraction gave them both a shock when they give in to it and Cora becomes pregnant. I felt like that Thomas kept running hot and cold with Cora which wasn’t fair to her. Cora was such a strong, but loving woman. It was interesting watching the two become friends. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
It was a good book with all the feels. Ends with a HEA of course but felt it was lacking something. I did enjoy it very much but felt it was dragged out them bang happy and that was the only thing that bothered me. Overall the book was heartwarming and I loved the characters.
Cora and Thomas had been dating, but a family was not what he wanted because of an event in his own past and they broke up. After 3 years, Cora decides to go ahead and have the child she has always longed for. A fertility clinic was the perfect way to get what she wanted. She just wasn’t ready to meet her new doctor – Dr. Thomas Clarkson! However, Thomas got the testing done for her and the profiles she needed. He even went along with her when she was nervous and walked her home. Neither of them had been with anyone else since their breakup, and their desire for each other overcame their common sense. It was one time only; without protection; they were not going to reconnect over this.
But Cora felt tired lately. She and Riley talked it over and Riley ran next door to get a pregnancy test. Cora kept denying she could be pregnant. She took the test but was afraid to look at it, so Riley quietly told her, “You’re pregnant,” just as she lost the coffee she had drunk earlier. How is Thomas going to react? Or will she even tell him?
I don't know what to say about this book other than I've never been so frustrated with two main characters who are the true definition of dysfunctional. Thomas is a doctor who was formerly married, but his wife, Tessa, was killed in a car crash. He has never gotten over her death, but he has fallen in lust with Cora. He's never had such great sex as he has with her, but Cora wants a baby and that's something he will not do. Tessa wanted a baby and he feels guilty about giving another woman a baby. Cora, for her part, keeps hoping that he will come around and want to be with her, but he makes it clear that there is no future for them other than an affair. She decides that she's going to check into a sperm donor to give her the baby that she wants. Three years later, Cora and Thomas run into each other, again, and have unprotected sex. Needless to say, she is pregnant and no longer needs a sperm donor, but she has to tell Thomas who, of course, freaks out. Back and forth the story goes, from this point on, with Thomas hurting Cora, but showing up at her apartment for the world's best sex. I paged through to see when they finally gave up their games and realized they were in love. On the last page of the last chapter of the book and it ends with I love you. Ms. Brooks normally writes excellent books, but this one doesn't quite measure up. I'm hoping it is a one off!
They both have difficult pasts and lovely families. She wants so hard to have a family that even considers eliminating love from this equation and he firmly believed that he was done with love, but faith has another plan for them. Thomaz and Cora are on a journey to discover each other and what they really mean to each other. Loved this book and loved this couple, lots of fun, friendship, and love!

Misleading blurb - he does not want a baby. Expect a lot of sex.
I was really looking forward to a nice second chance romance with forced proximity because she wants a baby, and he will only do it "the old fashioned way." Nope. He very explicitly does not want a baby.
After 3 months of "dating" (used loosely because it's mostly sex), she's already mentioned having a baby for a few weeks and feels she's in love with him. I'm all for instalove stories, but these two did not have the romantic chemistry to pull it off. Not surprisingly, he calls off their relationship. Then 3 years later, she goes to the fertility clinic, and he's the doctor.
Honestly, I didn't like any of the characters. They are all (even secondary characters) very much emotionally stunted, self centered, and "oh woe is me." Everyone is super judgmental and expects other people to act a particular way. Then they are very upset and affronted when people do things differently. Very little empathy is exhibited when someone is suffering. Very poor communication all around and a lot of assuming other people's thoughts and feelings.
One positive, I totally believed the physical chemist between the two. On the negative side, it felt gratuitous because it didn't add to the story, and I love explicit, steamy stories with a lot of heat. It made me think that their emotions for each other were forced because they wanted to bone multiple times a day, and I still didn't buy the love story at the end.
3 stars bc even though it wasn't my cup of tea, it was decently written, but starring people I couldn't care about. Except the beautiful baby.
SPOILERS
She gets pregnant after a one night stand with him. He didn't want a baby and suffers from a stupidly awful case of foot in mouth the entire book. She throws things at him and wonders how he can be so unattached. Well turns out he was recently widowed a few months before they slept together the first go around. Does this create empathy within her? No.
They family dynamics are messed up all around. Normally that doesn't bother me, but both main characters act like they're being dealt a cruel hand and can't do anything about it. Mustn't tell our families that we had an accidental pregnancy because they'll think she's a slut and he's a loser who needs to marry her. So we'll just get fake engaged. Only he forgets to remind her of that so he does a romantic proposal, and then she gets upset when she realizes it's not for real.
This couple's emotional roller coaster wore me out. All their friends say "you love each other" but they can't see it. Not surprising since they act like friends with benefits and not actual lovers. Sure they have romantic gestures, but I didn't see true romance or love aside from some minor internal musings. And for all that, the entire book is resolved in a page and a half of "oh sorry, I love you, marry me." And she said yes. The end.
Specific annoyances: - She's described as having a lithe, athletic build but then later has a lot of curves. - He title dropped when meeting her family. "Thomas. Doctor Clarkson." - They were worried about the baby being more premature, but OB said she was full term. THEY KNOW THE DATE OF CONCEPTION!
Sometimes life throws you off course and into something amazing if you are open to it
One Hot Doctor is the fifth book in the Love on Fire series and all I can say is get ready to have your fingers singed as your Kindle explodes from the smexy fun in this book. The story is about Cora and Thomas who have been having toe curling, stomach clenching between the sheets action for the last three months. Thomas has been able to keep things not serious between them even though Cora has been hinting at something more happening. He has experienced a huge soul crushing lose of his wife, Tessa, when she was involved in a car accident and died on the way to the hospital. When Tessa died Thomas felt like all of his dreams of the future also died. So now he does not want anything at all, even remotely, serious with anyone. Recently Cora's best friend Riley lost her husband when he was killed. Jasper was a police officer and while responding to a domestic case he was shot and died on the spot. Cora now realizes that life is short and you do not know what is going to happen next. She also knows that she wants to be a mother and that she and Thomas would make good parents. When she tries to talk with Thomas about her feelings and maybe having a baby together he basically freaks out and breaks up with her, while they are both naked in bed together. Yep he is that kind of guy. It is now three years later and and we find Cora still wanting to have a baby. But with no viable boyfriend in the picture she has decided to go the fertility clinic route. Riley, still her best friend, is remarried and in her first trimester. She is right there beside Cora, supportive and having her back. They get to the clinic and are ushered into an office where the doctor is. Only it is not the doctor she wants to see.....Thomas. So this can't get awkward and embarrassing right??? Thomas is professional but something shifts in him and he makes a decision to help Cora have a baby. But there is one condition.....it has to be the old fashioned way. So not awkward at all right? Along the way their flaming hot chemistry and passion is rekindled. But the question is what will happen when Cora becomes pregnant. Will Thomas run again or will his heart be stitched back together so he can be with Cora and their baby?
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Crazy but in Love! This is a crazy story about Doctor Thomas and Cora. On their last date, she brings up the fact that she wants to have a baby and he freaks out which of course becomes their last date as he tells her that he doesn’t want a baby or a relationship! Fast forward three years and she is determined to have a baby without a man in her life, so she goes to see a fertility specialist as she wants to use donor sperm.
Surprise when her doctor is none other than Dr. Thomas! After they get over the first reaction of awkwardness, she goes on ahead and goes along with the visit and he then calls her days later to give her the results and setting her up to the donor clinic. Well, they have both not been intimate with anyone else after she threw him out, so he ends up asking if she would like some company when she goes to the donor clinic for her visit. She agrees, afterward, they go out for a drink. The story takes off after that and although I wanted to tear Dr. Thomas a new one, I also wanted to have a nice word with Cora. These two just didn’t communicate in the way they should be but mostly in bed!!! Overall, the story was great – the ending to me was a bit rushed, I could have seen it a little different, but it had the happy ending that Taylor would appreciate in years to come!

Once bitten, twice shy is the perfect motto for commitment-shy Dr.Thomas Clarkson. Having loved and lost his wife, he is not about to commit to any woman again and take the chance at another loss. No matter how sexy, confident and captivating Cora is, he is not going to give his heart again. He left her and her baby making ideas behind three years ago and now she is in his fertility clinic hoping to have a baby with the help of a sperm donor. But the hot doctor and Cora’s chemistry is still blazing hot, and they share a very passionate and intimate encounter. Cora soon discovers that she doesn’t need a donor after all. Of course this rattles the sexy doctor’s cage, but he tells himself that he can be in his child’s life without being in a committed relationship with the baby mama. It doesn’t matter that he is lying to himself and his family, or even that he is hurting Cora and her hopeful heart. Even as Cora tries to deny her feelings for her Thomas, she knows it is a lost cause. Their friends see the love between them, but Thomas refuses to see or hear of it. When something unforeseen leads to a period of cohabitation, they both get a taste of what their relationship could be if only he would follow his heart. Nobody said love was easy or without pain. Now Thomas and Cora can attest to that. You will have to read this sexy, steamy and engaging book to see how their story ends.

Cora wants a baby, but when she brought this up to her current lover, Dr. Hottie Thomas Clarkson, he bolts for the hills... He has does not want anything to do with having a baby, as he has not recovered from his wife’s death and the baby, he did not give her.... But never say never. Four years later, Cora walks into his office in the fertility clinic and gets the shock of her life when she sees that Thomas is the doctor who is going to give her the ok to have IVF. But before that can happen, the passion that they felt all those year ago and having a sperm doner is not necessary, Cora gets pregnant the old fashion way and Thomas does the one thing he swore never to do... have a baby with another woman. They weren’t sure how they were going to deal with becoming parents, but when Cora was temporarily without a home, and she moved in with Thomas, they both saw how they could do this, or could they.
To be honest I felt at the beginning of the book that the sex scenes took over the story, and I was not going to like it, but as I read on, the story got more involved with Cora and Thomas and how they were dealing with becoming parents and there was their siblings, parents, and friends who brought more depth into the story. The story took many twists and turns and really enjoyed it. This was my first book by Sarah Brooks, and I hope all her books are just as good as this one.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.
Another great read by Ms. Brooks. and one of my favorites in the romance world, "Enemies to Lovers" involving doctors. Oh la, la!
Cara is desperate to have a baby. So desperate that she is ready for the more modern method, the "Turkey Baster" method. She hasn't had anyone come into her life since Thomas broke her heart all those years ago. So the time has come to try a new way.
Thomas is the man who is scared of commitment, babies, etc. He had something terrible happen to him and it changed him. Not for the better I might add. He hasn't met anyone new since he ran out on the one girl who could break through his walls, nor does he want to.
But what happens when patient has an ex for the doctor? Old feelings are brought back. An itch is scratched and then what?
This book had a wonderful story. It was filled with lust, anger, deception and sadness. It is a story about healing from old wounds and moving on. The characters have a beautiful chemistry. They are two very stubborn individuals, which make the story that much more interesting. I really liked the back story for Thomas. It really explains so much and is so shocking. Definitely an oh my moment!
Sarah Brooks is a pro at writing the perfect hot novels. Her characters always have amazing chemistry and the sexual tension burns up the pages. I also like to point out how her stories are fun and energetic. I really enjoy all the books by this author and guarantee you will too.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet to Cora & Thomas Clarkson. When this book opens we find that Cora and Thomas have been seeing each other for awhile now and Cora is ready for more. Well more as in she wants a baby and is hoping the man she is seeing wants that too. The problem is when she brings the idea up to him he bolt from her place. She won't let that change her mind though and since she can't find a good man who wants to be a father she will just have a baby alone. So she goes to a fertility clinic to start the process and finds none other than her ex Thomas is the doctor she is there to meet. Thomas has been messed up for years every since his wife was killed in a car accident. She had wanted a baby too and he had asked her to wait and she had agreed right before she was killed. Now when he thinks of that time he can't even contemplate children without massive guilt. His other problem is he misses and really wants his ex. He is sure though he is not father or relationship material. What happens when two people who want each other to much to forget protection will you have a baby on the way. Can these two find a HEA or will they just be co-parents that still want each other?
Amazing story. These character will draw you in and not let go. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Cora wants a baby more than anything in the world, and since she got her heart broken three years ago, she doesn’t believe that she can get one through natural means. But when she shows up at a fertility clinic, the last thing she expects is that her doctor would be the same man who broke her heart.
Thomas has been against the idea of falling in love ever since a personal loss wrecked his life many years ago. The only woman who has ever come close is Cora, a sweet and sassy woman he had a fling with three years ago. Now she’s here, and she wants to have a baby through sperm donation. And Thomas is duty bound to help her do it.
Against their better judgement, Cora and Thomas rekindle their affair, and she ends up pregnant through natural means. Thomas isn’t ready to be a father, and even less to be a partner. But as he and Cora grow closer through their pregnancy, he finds that his heart begins to soften. Can he sort out his feelings before he loses Cora for good?
I loved this book! Cora and Thomas’ relationship was super steamy, but also seemed incredibly genuine. This book had a lot of angst, but it had a lot of funny and sweet moments as well. I really liked how their relationship developed over the course of the book. Cora was funny and snarky, and she knew her own mind. Thomas was facing a difficult internal struggle, but that didn’t stop him from taking care of Cora and their baby. All in all, it was amazing.
Breaking Down The Walls Around His Heart - Cora decided to use artificial insemination to have a baby, as she hadn’t been successful in the relationship department. She was really shocked to see the consulting doctor was her ex, who had sworn off having a relationship and a family. However, Thomas’s offer to help her go through the initial process, leads to one night of hot, passionate, unbridled pleasure and the result of an accidental pregnancy.
Unfortunately, Thomas’s mindset hasn’t changed and this causes them to navigate many obstacles, on their journey to the birth of their child. Their chemistry was evident to everyone, but insecurities and the revelation of a secret keeps them apart. However, it would take the age old adage ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ for Thomas to come to his senses and go after what he wants.
This story took me on a really emotional journey with the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I was captivated from the beginning until the end, whilst rooting for them to get their happily ever after. I can assure you, that you will not be disappointed when you read this book.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Love On Fire series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Cara sweet, caring wanted kids however her partner Thomas (Dr. Thomas) just up and walked away from what they had even though the chemistry was intense, the magnetic pull couldn’t be ignored and yet he walked away. Fast forward to today and Cara is tired of the male species so deciding to have a baby on her own without any input from the males she goes to the Dr. and of course her doctor is none other than Thomas the man who walked away from her. Now a doctor and willing to assist her with having a baby but with a condition of having a baby the old fashion way will she accept, can they work on them because the chemistry is still just as intense, will she finally get the baby she has wanted for so long and this time around with they both grab the second chance at happiness?
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Thomas and Cora. They had a fling and ended when Cora asked Thomas to have a baby. Now a few years later, Cora decides she still wants a baby but is tired of waiting to fall in love, so she decides to go to a sperm bank. Cora goes to the doctor to be sure she can conceive, where she is surprised to see Thomas is the doctor. Thomas is still attracted to Cora and offers to go with her to make sure she is ok at the fertility clinic. They talk and decide to go for a drink afterwards to catch up. They end up together at Cora's apartment and Cora eventually finds out she is pregnant. Cora knows Thomas doesn't want a child, but she thinks he should still know. Thomas and Cora decide to co-parent and grow closer while she is pregnant. Cora knows she loves Thomas, but learns his reasons for not wanting a relationship and she knows he will never change his mind. I really enjoyed this book. I liked Cora, she was a strong woman who wanted to be happy and have her own child. I think she loved Thomas, even if she knew he couldn't love her. I liked how Thomas and Cora developed a deep friendship and i think Thomas cared more about Cora than he realized. Great one.
Cora and Thomas have amazing chemistry... in the bedroom at least. Until Cora asks the question that causes Thomas to cut ties and run... Let's have a baby. Thomas is still grieving the loss of his wife Tess and not fulfilling her wish of a baby. Fast forward three years and Cora still single goes after what she wants most... a baby. Fate can be your friend or foe and Thomas isn't sure which when Cora shows up at his fertility clinic looking for a donor. Helping her through the process, holding her hand, a drink or two and BAM between the sheets. Now Cora doesn't need IVF because Thomas did it in one go!!! Thomas and Cora are at crossroads because Thomas is still unable to give love another shot. Secrets are shed, the past rears it's ugly head and it's time Thomas comes go grip what's in front of him now... Before it's too late. The characters are amazing, his/her POV and this book will definitely have you turning the pages to see what happens next. Love it!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Looking forward to see what comes next.
Cara and Thomas were seeing each other on a regular basis so she thought it was serious. One evening after being together she asked him about having a child together and also tells him how she feels for him. Thomas has flashbacks to someone in his past when he hears what Cara wants and this sends him ending things in a bad way. Now years later they run into each other again when Cara goes into a fertility clinic before she decides to be inseminated. Both are shocked when they see each other the sparks reignite between them. Thomas tries to distance himself from her but that soon becomes harder than he thought. When they share a passionate night together Cara ends up pregnant from it. This complicates things with Thomas and her especially when he has things in his past he never shared with her. Can they find a way to be together? Or will this be another bad ending for them?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story I would recommend this book to any book lover.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a fantastic read. Thomas and Cora are perfect for each other, but neither are willing to admit it. This is a second chance/ enemies to lovers. Thomas suffered a tragedy and has had his heart closed off since then. He doesn’t want a serious relationship and three years ago he let the perfect woman for him go. Cora has always wanted to be a mother, but can’t seem to find the man who would sweep her off her feet and give her what she wants. She thought it would be Thomas, but that ended. Now it’s been three years since they have seen each other and Thomas is shocked when he sees her and tells him she wants a baby by artificial insemination. They end up falling into bed with each other and yep, she is pregnant. Will this change how Thomas feels about relationships and babies? You’ll need to read and find out. This is filled with drama, angst, lust and some truths. These two have insane chemistry. They can’t keep their hands off each other, but neither will admit that their connection is more than just physical. I really enjoyed this story. I recommend picking this one up.
Denial & stubbornness on a whole new level One Hot Doctor by Sarah J. Brooks is an enjoyable read. The characters are wonderful in their own ways, however, Thomas is exasperating in the lengths he goes to in his stubbornness and denial! He’s a great guy in so many ways, but fails to see how adept and well suited to a meaningful relationship he truly is. And especially with Cora. Now this young lady is strength and independence personified! She knows what she wants, is determined to get it in one form or another, Thomas or not. I enjoyed this book beyond the steamy romance for the subplot of Cora’s Mom. This storyline added another level of interest and some angst as well. Overall, Cora and Thomas’s story kept me on tender hooks for the duration! Thomas finally puts his natural stubbornness to good use so this couple can have it all. HEA indeed and a relief for all. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Cora and Thomas had a brief relationship which he ended when she wanted a baby. Fast forward several years and Cora decides to go on the baby journey by herself. Unfortunately her consultation is with Thomas. He goes with her to the sperm bank for a consult. They have a hot liaison after the appointment and Cora ends up pregnant. Thomas is so commitment shy that he sends to many mixed signals. He can't seem to get over his past wife who passed away. He is a terrific partner and can't stay away from Cora, but every time subjects of commitments and love come up he bites back and manages to say or do something to hurt Cora. This book had me reading it "cover to cover" in almost one go. Thomas and Cora are hot in the bedroom and have a strong connection but Thomas retreats so many times that you will get so dizzy. You will enjoy the emotional and sizzling read.

A MUST read! Ms. Brooks’ books are always good; however, this one is outstanding. Although doctor/patient love stories aren’t out of the ordinary right now, Ms. Brooks has written one that is definitely original. Cora and Thomas were in a relationship and separated because she wanted a family and he wasn’t ready at that point. She is in for a shock when she goes to a fertility specialist three years later only to find that it’s Thomas. Their attraction hasn’t dulled in the least, and they pick back up from where they left off. This is where the story gets really really interesting and enters the “I’ll just finish this chapter” stage. With over 100 books to her credit, it is wonderful to have her back with a new book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Thomas and Cora’s story. Cora knows that life is short, and she is determined to have a baby but with no partner in sight she decides of the IUV route and attends a fertility clinic. Thomas is grieving the loss of his wife from an accident, and is stunned when he finds out that Cora is his new patient, as she is an ex. These two had a hot time going on and when Cora told Thomas she wants more he breaks up with her, and now coming face to face, the sparks fly. The chemistry between these two is sizzling and undeniable, but so they have a future together? This is a well written emotionally charged story, which is a fun, 2nd chance, enemies / lovers romance, with family, friendships, and love, which leads to a steamy and all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is such a brilliant read. Cora has decided that she will go the sperm donor route to have a baby as she never has any luck with relationships, so she is more than shocked when she meets the doctor at the fertility clinic. He is her ex who walked out on her after she said she wanted a baby. Thomas can't believe that Cora is back in his life and the chemistry between them is still so electric. After one night together she gets pregnant but he still won't commit to a relationship. I truly felt for Cora as he seemed to crush her everytime he left. Can they navigate parenthood without a relationship or will he realise that he can't live without her. A must read full of so much emotion and plenty of drama but will they get their hea.
