A purebred Vampire who leads with an iron fist. A sassy detective who doesn’t want to play by the rules. Will any chance at love survive the darkness of this world?

When Salvatore Descallia learns of the coup planned to blame his clan for the disappearances of human women. He must move swiftly to deal with his enemies, even bypassing his own Consulate, a committee he presides over that makes decisions for vampires around the globe. He has every intention of finding those responsible, but the syndicate has enlisted the help of rogue wolf shifters and witches to keep him at bay.

But then a new challenge presents itself — Lucianna Denaro, a mysterious woman who has haunted his dreams, and has psychic powers is suddenly close to death. To save her life, Salvatore gives her immortality in exchange for a life of servitude in the vampire empire.

Lucianna awakes to find herself with the dark-souled vampire master who expects her to learn the dangers and rituals of his world, where death lurks at every corner. But Vampire Lord Descallia may have turned the wrong girl because she’d rather put him in his place than obey him.

Sparks fly when the two of them clash. They may not be able to resist the magnetic attraction that threatens to engulf them with its intensity.

But will the traitors kill any chance of love they have and seal their fate for eternity?

2.75 - This didn't work for me. I ended up having to put this down for a couple of weeks and ultimately ended up skimming a few of the cringier scenes to finally finish it. I liked the premise, but it was disjointed at times and I felt like I missed something. I will give book
2 a chance at some point as this is listed as a 1st book for new author and I liked parts enough to try again.

I wish I hadn't wasted time reading this book.

I can't even...

Just don't get it or read it. It's so cliché and poorly written that I cringe just thinking about it.

Aweful.

Master Descallia is the first book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. Sylvia is a new author to me, and I was hoping this paranormal tale would be enjoyable. But what I got was so much more. This dark Vampire romance story instantly drew me in and hooked in deep, so much so that I was suddenly lost to the beauty of the harsh world that Sylvia had created right from the start. It is fast paced, intense, full of suspense and certainly sizzling. You know it’s a good story when you see your husband standing there waving his arms at you because you are so lost in the story that you didn’t hear him the first two times. I wish it were a little longer.

This story doesn't flow as easily as it could, but I still couldn't put it down. Luciano (Luce) is a cop with some strange powers. She is clairvoyant, but what she sees is not always easy for her to decipher. When women start disappearing in Las Vegas the police keep the information on the down-low because it all seems to lead back to either the powerful vampire or mafia communities. Without proof of who is responsible there could easily be a war as the two sides blame each other or different factions of their own community and the humans will be stuck in the middle. Luce needs to go undercover and find out what's going on.

Salvatore Descallia is the leader of the Consulate which governs twelve vampire clans spread across the globe. His family has interests in Vegas and he must get to the bottom of the kidnappings and ensure the blame falls where it should. The whole thing seems like a setup to turn humans against the vampires. Little does he know that one human woman is about to change his world forever.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great Vampire read! I love the dual POVs of Salvatore and Lucianna. Salvatore is a vampire and head of the Vampire Overlord Consulate. Lucianna is a police officer assigned to a case where women go missing. When a robbery at Salvatore's casino goes wrong, Salvatore must rescue Lucianna from death. They must work as a team to figure out about the missing women before its to late. I love how this story flows and the sparks between Lucianna and Salvatore! Cannot wait to read book 2!

I was in the mood for vampires today. I hope this doesn’t let me down.

Slightly annoying I hate the sleeping in coffins thing. (This doesn’t happen for the entire book).

There is an instant pull between Luce and Salvatore they both feel it even through a photograph. The chemistry between them on the first meeting is 🔥🔥🔥

I love how Luce and Embry clicked instantly.

Both girls are turned after an attack they would have died in.

Luciana seems to have a knack for being a vampire. Even though she has an aversion to drinking blood.

The storyline is fairly good but the characters seem a little flat. There is no real backstory for either of them. A big deal was made of her police partner but then he has barely been mentioned.

This is a slow burn book and the first ‘action’ isn’t until 83% but it’s good once it gets started.

Things have taken a bizarre turn at around 89% I’m not sure what to make of it yet. It seems unlikely though that all this stuff is in that book and neither of them knew about it.

I’m still not sure what to make of it, it wasn’t explained the book just ended. This could have been so much longer and more in depth and it would have been brilliant but it just felt lacking to me. I wanted to know more about the vampires society and how it works. How did Salvatore become the overmaster and what does that even mean? Does Luciana have any family? What drives her as a cop? What even happened to her job and who betrayed her? So many questions left unanswered.

Also mentioning the dungeon repeatedly and then only having that one piddly little scene in there. It’s rude to threaten me with a good time and not deliver.

Overall a little bit unsatisfying.

This is a new author and she is new to the paranormal genre also. Reading this book you would never think this is her first book. It is fantastic, intense, fast paced and steamy. Everything you would want in a Vampire book.

There was a prequel to this book and it was amazing to receive a back story on the characters. This prequel was a brilliant idea!!

Salvatore is a purebred and Overlord to the Consulate of Masters. He rules the Vampire world and watches over them all to make sure they are not doing something that will cause trouble for them. He finds out there are enemies planning to have him and his clan blamed for murdering women. He is ready to kill everyone who is in on this. Then he meets his mate. They are attracted to each other immediately.

She is hurt and she is not going to make it. Salvatore tells her she can be saved, but she must become a vampire. He will not change her without her approval.

She agrees and this is the beginning of their relationship. Luciana is drawn to Salvatore and I think they both know they are mates. But Salvatore lost his mate years ago and you only get one true mate. Why is this happening? He doesn't understand, then information comes to light and they understand why!! This book is fantastic, fast paced, amazing characters and keeps you turning pages. You will not be able to put this book down until you are done. Then you want the next book!!!!

Descallia is book one in the Masters of the Consulate series and it’s amazing!! You know you’re truly invested in the characters and their story when you get to the end and you’re upset it’s over. It had my full attention from beginning to end. Salvatore and Lucianna's story is exciting, intense, fast paced, suspenseful, and steamy hot. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR!

Loved it! That is the easiest way to sum up what I thought of this book. This was a first time author for me, and I am so glad I got to start reading their work! This was a first novel in the series, and needless to say I will be defiantly reading the next ones to follow. It had the right amount of mystery, paranormal, and flames of desire to fuel my inner heart as I sip my coffee and hang onto the pages as I turn them.

First off, I picked this book up as its one of my favorite genres-paranormal. Throw in a super sexy vampire whom is a Overlord named Salvatore and yes you have me hooked even more! His descriptions were defiantly fantasy material. But, I what I truly loved about Salvatore was his personality. Don't get me wrong, he was his own version of fire, and he had that characteristic strong in him. But other than his sex appeal he was a strong character, mind wise I would say. He cared for his people. They were being blamed for other female humans vanishing. He wanted nothing more to solve the mystery and put an end to this. He had a rough exterior but I loved his caring side he did not let out very often.

Salvatore was a lone vampire to say until he met a creature whom not only captures his eyes, but in small words his very soul. Her name was Luciana and she was looking into the case of the women who strangely began to vanish with no reason. I loved her personally. She was strong minded as well, but she was stubborn in the sense of she's not letting anything stop her. She was a detective working undercover and she was the type of person who would not rest till the case was done and buried with. What I most found intriguing of her, was what she could do with her mind. You will have to read it to see what I am referring to at this point.

Sparks fly when these two meet. There was strong desire, but also strong sense will that giving in would just be a mess of trouble. But can these two truly ignore the flames that ignite around them? The touch that gives that very fire to your soul, can you really ignore what you want so bad? Or is giving in perhaps the worst idea to ever cross your mind knowing there could be consequences?

As the plot thickens, lots of loose ends seemed to be tied together as the mystery unraveled. As well what was instore for Lucianna and Salvatore! This book gave so much to me and I wanted more still. it was just so good and I did not want t put it down. it was as if a ember in my own soul was right there with the characters and I as well was trying to resist the heat that I wanted to consume me.

Loved this book for all it brought, and all it left me wanting more of. the characters were made to be very well done and very easy to get to know as well as distinguish them! The author did an amazing job and I can not truly wait for the next books in the series. They truly know how to captivate their reader and keep them reading those pages to see what happens next!

Again loved this book and truly recommend! You will not be disappointed in any shape or form!

Salvatore Descallia a centuries old purebred vampire who lives on the Amalfi Coast and he is the Overlord of the Consulate of Masters, a group of vampires who make the decisions on how their kind will live with those around them, he rules with an iron fist and is not afraid to fight those around him into submission, including the human Syndicates around the world. Lucianna Denaro is a young woman with long, dark hair and crystalline green eyes and she is about to run into a man who will make her rethink every strategy she has.

Women have been going missing on the streets of Las Vegas, kidnapped while doing normal, everyday activities, but always at night, Salvatore knows that it is nobody in his clan as they wouldn’t dare do something like that behind his back, but he has no idea who is behind it, or where they are being kept, however, he is determined to solve the mystery and get them back, so he jumps on a plane and sets out to investigate it. As his second in command fills him in on the new information, he is also sent a picture of a woman who he has to keep an eye out for, however, this woman intrigues him and he cannot keep his mind off her for the entirety of his flight, Meanwhile, Lucianna is preparing to use her skills to prepare for another days work and decides to visit her new place of employment and get a feel for the place, but when she gets there, she senses the presence of a man with a magnetic personality, however, as she is being shown round the place, she and another girl are viciously attacked and as she is on the verge of death, Salvatore approaches her and asks for her consent to save her, she agrees, even if it is going to change her life forever.

When she wakes up from her transition, she cannot deny that everything is sharper and clearer, but she still doesn’t like the idea of what she now is, it isn’t made any easier when there is a physical and emotional connection with Salvatore which is so strong they both struggle to keep apart and resist the temptation lying in front of them. As she recovers and more information about the missing women surfaces, she realises that there is something she can do to help and she goes to great lengths to prove just that, however, Salvatore is resistant and doesn’t want her anywhere near the danger looming. Will Lucianna and Salvatore be able to keep denying their connection and make headway finding the missing girls and proving that their kind aren’t the ones responsible and will Lucianna be able to accept her new life and the loss of her old one? This is a thrilling paranormal romance with a mystery entwined within which will keep you guessing until the conclusion.

Sylvia Black’s Masters of the Consulate is an enthralling paranormal romance series that plunges readers into a dark, seductive world ruled by powerful vampire masters. Across the first four books, Black masterfully blends sizzling romance, high-stakes action, and supernatural intrigue, crafting a series that fans of vampire fiction will devour.

Book 1: The Purebred Vampire and the Detective

The series begins with an electric clash of personalities as a commanding vampire leader meets his match in a strong-willed detective who refuses to back down. Their chemistry ignites a gripping tale of love, danger, and unrelenting passion. Black’s sharp dialogue and dynamic characters make this an addictive start to the series, setting the tone for what’s to come.

Book 2: The Master Vampire and the Avenger

In the second instalment, Black introduces a heroine driven by revenge and a vampire master who is determined to protect her. Their fiery relationship fuels the plot, which centres around loyalty, justice, and the raw power of desire. The story’s darker themes and intense action sequences add depth, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

Book 3: The Ruler and the Psychic

The third book takes an intriguing twist with a psychic heroine who sees more than she should and a vampire ruler grappling with the weight of his position. Their connection is both tender and fraught with tension, as their abilities and secrets draw them into an intense fight for survival. This instalment stands out for its emotional resonance and supernatural twists.

Book 4: The Avenger and the Witch

The fourth book delivers a spellbinding combination of magic and vengeance as a vampire seeking retribution collides with a meddling but endearing witch. They’re unlikely partnership evolves into a romance that’s equal parts steamy and heartfelt, while the feud they face tests their bond in unexpected ways.

Verdict

Sylvia Black’s Masters of the Consulate is a thrilling blend of paranormal romance and dark fantasy. Each book offers a fresh and engaging pairing, with complex characters and compelling conflicts that keep readers invested. Whether you’re a fan of forbidden love, supernatural battles, or fiery chemistry, this series delivers on all fronts. Perfect for fans of J.R. Ward and Kresley Cole, Masters of the Consulate is a must-read for lovers of vampire romance with a bite.

Interesting enough but. . .

The plot is so full of holes it gets frustrating and the writing style is a bit overdramatic.

So a couple of examples of the plot holes: there are two incursions into Salvatore's casino, after the second one they capture Agusto who during questioning says it was House Romano who sent them and the gouls (something not explained properly developed or nor well integrated) to attack the casino and the team investigating the disappearance of the women. Then Salvatore sends Terrence, Silver and Clay to try and find the women and rescue them, but Terrence and Silver and Darius are from House Romano, so why isn't he gathering them up and questioning them to see if they are plants by Romano to undermine the team trying to sort out the disappearances?

Second example: Luciana says she can't kill Benetti because it's against the law and she still wants to be a cop, so she can't kill a man in cold blood; but yet she killed Agusto in the middle of Salvatore questioning him before they could even get all the information; so which is it she won't kill because it's against the law and she wants to remain a cop, or it doesn't matter?

Besides the plot holes the overall writing style is overdramatic and the character development is somewhat lacking in that all of the characters use the same catchphrases the same words and terminology. In a nutshell no one talks differently from each other so the writing isn't being used to differentiate between the characters very effectively.

Then there are the repeated references to BDSM that are just dropped in and it's like the plot is trying too hard, not developing that properly. It's not really cohesively integrated into the story, just plopped in trying to make the story more risque but it is done so poorly doesn't work.

A dark vampire romance with a guy who looks like that on the cover? Yes please. lol This sounded like my kind of book and boy was I right. Master Descallia or Salvatore as Luciana calls him is a pure blood vampire and overmaster of the purebloods. Meaning he's in charge and he knows it. Everyone knows it and if they try to pull one over on him, he takes care of them one way or another. This man doesn't mess around.

So when he finds out that women are going missing and someone is making it look like the vampires are to blame, he has to get help which is when he meets Luciana. She's a human police detective and agrees to help him investigate who is kidnapping the women. But very quickly she gets badly hurt and she's not going to make it. So Salvatore asks her permission to turn her into a vampire, he's hoping she will accept because he feels a pull towards her like he would for a mate, but his mate was lost to him long ago.

Luciana accepts being turned and thus she is thrown into his life and now that she's a vampire, he expects her to bend to his will like all the other vampires do. Well, he has another thing coming if he thinks she's just going to do whatever he says. Luciana is sassy, sarcastic and headstrong which not only turns Salvatore on, but makes him crazy because he's so used to everyone bending to his will and she doesn't like being told what to do. So the arguments these two have are really funny.

These two were so fun to watch. There was some BDSM and Dom/sub interactions since Master Descallia owns a BDSM club but there was nothing non-consensual or outlandishly harsh. It was all pretty subdued in my opinion.

I really liked the reasons that came to light as to why these two felt such a strong pull towards each other. That was a sweet storyline.

A string of missing persons cases bring two people from completely different parts of the world together to try and solve this case. One is Lucianna, a Las Vegas police officer who has clairvoyant abilities. The other is Salvatore, the Overlord of the Vampire Masters. When a robbery occurs when Lucianna starts her undercover work, she’s brought deeper into the world of vampires than she could have ever anticipated. With more women going missing, it’s going to take the abilities of her new team and all the skills she possesses with her own powers to hunt down where they are. The only issue is that even with her mind on the case, she keeps getting visions of what might happen with her and Salvatore, and that’s a distraction she just can’t afford right now.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this with how the first couple of trappers were written but I quickly found myself falling into the story and really enjoying it. Even though Salvatore is the Overlord, I appreciated how much he relied on Lucianna to lead the search for these women and to figure out what happened by providing her with a team who all have their own special skills that played an important role throughout the story. The way the author handled the romance kept the reader wanting more and even though I wish certain could have happened quicker, the incorporation of the visions was an interesting twist. Overall I really enjoyed the book. There was a decent amount of world building with the use of the vampire historical texts and I’m interested to see how things play out in the future.

Women are going missing and the Consort of Vampires are being framed but Descallia must try and find the answers and prevent anything else happening but when he sees those green eyes staring at him, he's done for.

Descallia is the overlord of the consorte and someone is trying to frame them with the disapperance of woman from the city, but while he is trying to deal with that mess, in walks another problem in the body of Luicanna but there is something different with her, can he concentrate or be distracted by her.

Luicanna is a detective with a difference, she has powers that can see the past, present and future but when she goes undercover the casino following a case she encounters more than just chips, there is something about Descillia but she can't quite put her finger on it until one night changes everything.

This is first book I have read by this author and I am definitely ready to download more. This story is not normally a genre I read but with the handsome hunk on the cover I thought I would give it a go and I was not disappointed.

The characters are well written and build suspense within the story which is thrilling and such a page turner. The story is full of twists and turns and some omg moments which had me turning the pages well into the night to find the conclusion. The secondary characters also add to the excitement of the story and I can only hope that some of them are the next instalment in this series. I am definitely ready for the next instalment in this series.

"Masters of the Consulate" series and thought I'd give it a try. WOW!! I'm so glad I did. This isn't a new release but both the author and her work is new to me. I'm impressed to say the very least! It starts with Luciana, aka Luce, which rhymes with truce, being called into her Captain's office at the Police Department where she works. She's being put on an undercover assignment to work as a bartender at a club owned by Salvatore Descallais. You see, there have been several women who have been abducted, and all evidence, though not concrete, points to Descallais and his Vampire Clan as he is Overmaster to several clans. Her first day at the casino it hits the fan with a robbery and gunfire that leaves Luce with her throat slit. There's very little time to decide, but Salvatore won't do anything without Luce's consent. This is a fast-paced, enemy-to-lovers, good vs. evil book that hit the ground running and didn't stop until the very end. The world-building painted the scenes in my mind as if I was there and the characters were personable with relatable traits. And then there was the chemistry! It was so intense I could almost feel it through the screen and yet I would classify it as a slow burn because it didn't culminate until almost the end of the book. But I'm excited to say, I found out there are a total of ten books to this series plus a prequel that gives a bit of lead-in to the Consulate itself. If you're like me and enjoy a good Vampire book that hits all the notes, this is one you need to check out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Master Descallia : Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 1) by Sylvia Black

This is the first book I've read by Black. Although it won't be my last. This is the first book in the Masters of Consulate Series. It follows Luce and Salvatore through their story.

Lucianna works on the police force and has powers. Dealing with missing women is what she is working on. Then something happens to her and she is forced to resign. The quote I chose for Lucianna is: “I have to go. They were both dueling with too many powers, Salvatore. They needed time to recharge before they went after Embry, and we don’t know that it’s not a trap. Nothing has been as it seems. I have to go. She needs me.”

Salvatore isn't looking for a mate because he lost his mate a long time ago. When Lucianna comes into his life she turns it upside down. Dealing with missing women and dealing with Luce turns out to be a trip. The quote I chose for Salvatore is: “Look at me! This is not on you but the piece of human trash who hates us because we’re different. Hates us because we have rules and don’t condone the mistreatment and slavery of women, even humans. He has been at odds with us since we put controls on the syndicate business. You were caught in the middle because Morgan told you and he knew you were coming to work for me. He wanted you taken out before you had a chance to learn any more, or work with me.”

Highly recommended forVampire Paranormal lovers.

With Master Descallia who is cold and calculated, a great introduction to the series. Master Tuscano is fiery and passionate, offering a more "bad boy" vibe. Master Trentino is brooding and tortured, with a compelling redemption arc, and Master Romano is mysterious and unpredictable. What's not to love about these brilliantly crafted characters and the equally strong kick butt counterparts. As always the author's writing style is engaging and intriguing with an easy flow that draws you into her carefully constructed world. The author takes her time in developing the mythos behind the vampire society, grounding it in history, politics, and the emotional stakes of the characters. The vampire lore itself feels fresh, with a clear set of rules and guidelines governing the supernatural world. The politics of the Consulate are complex but not overwhelming, making it easy for you to follow the twists and turns of the plot while still feeling the weight of the world-building.The romance elements are also well-crafted, particularly the forbidden relationships that emerge throughout the series. There’s an undeniable chemistry between the central pairings, but these relationships are not without their complications, which adds a rich emotional layer to the narrative. If you like steamy, emotional vampire relationships, this series delivers. I'm looking forward to reading the last installment.

Head vampire finds his soulmate and his enemies

This is a new series of twelve books about ruling vampires finding their mates. The story had lots of potential but there was not enough worldbuilding or background information to explain things.
Descallia is the head of the Consulate (the vampire council) and Lucianna is the police officer who is sent to work undercover at his casino, and they feel a deep pull towards each other immediately.
Their relationship is one part of the story while there is a bigger picture about enemies on all sides that beset them and reek havoc. This appears to be a longer story arc as it continues into Book 2, which I have also read, and may go on throughout the series.
I found the enemies more interesting than the romance, to be honest, although Descallia and Lucianna worked well together in fighting the enemy. The scenes between them I could take or leave because they were just tacked on at the end and didn't contribute anything to the story.
There were random speech marks littered throughout the book, pulling me up wondering if someone was speaking or not, and there were spelling errors too. This is also true of Book 2, and I think I will read one more and see if the continuing story arc is good enough to keep me reading the other nine when they are published.

This is the first book in a new paranormal vampire series. The series is likely to be 12 books long as there are 12 members of the Vampire Consulate around which these books are written. This is a new author to me as I’m just starting to read more paranormal books. I thoroughly enjoyed my first book by this author and already have books 2 & 3 in the series on my kindle waiting for me to devour.
Salvatore Descallia is the Overmaster of the vampire consulate and is used to everyone doing as he asks without question. When he meets Lucianna Denaro, a police office with clairvoyant talents, he finally meets someone who is not afraid to say no to him and questions his authority. While this enrages him, he can’t help being fascinated and attracted to Lucianna (Luce).
I loved the interactions between Luca and Salvatore. His continual attempts to dominate her and her disregard for his authority, makes for some fun reading.
This is much more than just a paranormal romance, there is an intense and complicated background story running alongside the romance element and that makes this such an intriguing and entertaining read. I was really drawn into the story from the very beginning and, as the book leaves you with a taster of what’s coming next, can’t wait to read the next installment.

This is a really good book! I enjoyed the writing and the storyline. Luce one of our main characters is a badass in her own right. She is a police officer and can handle her own. At first she seems a little timid, but she always puts others before herself. Once she opened up, she was a force to be reckoned with. I loved her story arc and her character growth. Salvatore is our other main character. He is the overmaster of all. This is someone you do not want to mess with. At first he starts out brash, overprotective, and aggressive. When he first meets Luce he goes overboard. But she pushes back and doesn't take his crap for nothing. I loved seeing him become more caring and understanding and more accepting that she can hold her own.
The only problem that had was the BDSM scene. There was no real explanation, build up yes, but i felt like it was not the right build up. There was no real sit down and talking and making sure she understood what would happen and the set up of safe words, it was just this was happening, and bam it was done. I understand that probably wouldn't have really fit into the book, but a brief scene i felt like would've made it better.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and simply cant believe that this is her first book! That ending has me wanting more and a little sad that it's its own stand alone book. I cant wait to read book 2 an see what it brings!

Humans, the Syndicates and Vampires have learned to exist in an uneasy balance.  However, the multiple disappearances of women in Las Vegas in a way that points to the Vampires threatens to topple that balance. The Consulate of the Vampires, the ruling party for the Vampires, made up of 12 pure bloods and an Overload decide they must step in.  Overlord Salvatore Descallia is invested in finding who is kidnapping humans while trying to frame his people.  In order to shadow the investigation, Descallia heads to Vegas.   The human’s police department want to place an undercover, Clairvoyant officer before the Vampires become aware of the situation.   When Descallia addresses Officer Lucianna Denaro, she decides to work with him to reach the same goal, find the women.  Unfortunately, things just do not go as planned.   This led Descallia to offer Luce a chance at a second life, as a vampire.  The sparks that fly between the two are intense from start to finish.  Descallia expects obedience and Lucianna is just as head strong.
The characters are well developed, have depth and a connection that neither was expecting. There is a BDSM theme throughout so for some that may be a trigger. I also like that there is a larger story being laid out throughout. Can not wait to see how the how story carries through to the next book in the series.

Vampires, humans, witches, shifters, and dark romance all in one!
Master Descallia is the unforgiving overmaster of all the vampires, that is until he meets his Lucianna. Lucianna is a detective who has the power of sight and is sent into the casino to gain information on the recent string of kidnappings within the city.
Descallia willingly agrees to work with the police force in hopes to clear the vampire community, as the victims all have ties to the community in some way. As trouble finds it’s way to the front doors of his casino, he must make the executive decision to change two humans who were near death. Embry, whose dream was to be changed and Lucianna who did not have the same desire.
Lucianna and Descallia’s slow building romance goes to new heights after she recovers from the transition. Information comes out regarding Lucianna the more Descallia’s late mate’s sister research more into history!
The vampires slowly make headway on finding out who is behind the string of kidnappings while also uncovering that they have a leak within their own and that some of the police force is working with the suspects.
If your interested in more of the story line and finding out who is at the head of the attempt at causing the vampire community and their relationships with the humans to crumble check out the other 3 books in the Masters of the Consulate series!

This is the first time I have come across or read anything by this author so she is new to me. I enjoyed the flow of the story and her style of writing. Luciana is a cop with psychic & telepathic abilities. She's put on a case to fund out who is behind taking the women that have recently gone missing. She is put undercover to work in a club where she meets her new boss, Overmaster Salvatore Descallia. She is being shown around the building by another worker when some masked men come to rob the place. She nearly loses her life but is saved by Salvatore. He himself is also trying to find out who is pulling the strings and kidnapping all these women. It gets especially critical when the mate of a master is taken. While trying to figure out a strategy for finding the missing women these two start to develop an attraction that cannot be ignored. It's hard for Salvatore at first because he had a mate that he lost hundreds of years before. He didn't think he would come to love anyone again. There is ancient text in the vampire lore that speaks of a woman who will be the salvation of the vampire race. Luciana fits the description to a tee. Could Luciana be that woman? Could she also possibly be his mate reincarnated?

Salvatore Descallia is the Overload of the Vampire Consulate. There are twelve consulate positions which are held by purebred vampires. As a leader he is tough and a believer of rules.

Lucianna Denaro, or Luce, is a Las Vegas police officer. She has worked with the department for three years. She has some psychic capabilities that the department is willing to use to help them solve a case of missing women. The women have been taken while completing normal activities like grocery shopping without a trace. Her captain wants her to work at Descallia Casino and Resort to see if she can gain any information pertaining to the case.

After meeting Master Descallia, she is being shown around by Embry, a waitress, when all of the sudden men try to grab her and Embry. She takes out two but is caught off guard by two more. Her life and Embry’s hand in the balance. Descallia and his right hand, Lucas, give both of the women immortality by turning them before they die.

With the missing women still hanging over their heads, Descallia and Luce must put aside their attraction to solve this mystery and save the women.

Master Descallia (Book One in the Masters of the Consulate Series)
By Sylvia Black

This is my second book by Sylvia Black, which is Master Descallia the first book in the series. After reading book 11 first then coming to book one I would suggest they should not be read as a stand alone as we all know even the smallest amount of background history helps throughout the series. As I said in my book 11 review, I do not normally read vampire stories, but this series looks like it is going to be good one to read. I have to say this book is a nice quick read and has been written beautifully. This book centres around Salvatore and Lucianna. Lucianna is a detective, Salvatore is an Overlord, they are brought together to work on the disappearance of women. In order for the search for the missing women to continue, she has been given a team to collaborate with her. It is through the search interactions that he finds thee is attraction between himself and Lucianna, but why and how can is the attraction there? If you enjoy vampire stories, I think this may be shaping up to be the series you need to read.
