Devotion’s Wish by Mary Manners Two wounded hearts willing to risk everything for love… For Amie Madigan, the need for fame means sacrificing everything—including friends, family, and faith. Dangerous risks threaten her future. Cade Lockridge returns home following deployment, wanting nothing more than a quiet life and to raise a young nephew who's come into his care. But his plan for peace is dashed when his path crosses with Amie’s. The two are as opposite as sandpaper and cotton, yet Cade can’t seem to keep his distance. Can he teach Amie to trust again, and that there's more to life than fame and fortune? This is Amie Madigan and Cade Lockridge's story. AMIE MADIGAN BLEW WISPS OF hair from her eyes as she hoisted a cardboard box from the trunk of her car. Overhead, the sky loomed with angry, dark clouds that seemed to mirror the tempest howling inside her. How had she been so foolish? She shook her head against the question and, with her arms overloaded, turned toward a double-pronged path that meandered along the sprawling seven acres of gently rolling land that had been in the Madigan family for three generations. With a hint of amusement, Cade Lockridge peered over the hedgerow separating his property from the neighbor’s cottage as a tall, lithe woman who marched with a hint of sass hoisted a box on one hip and then reached into the trunk of her car for another. It was like watching a circus juggling act, except she apparently lacked any skill in the juggling department. At least when it came to carrying oversized boxes. In the rain. Without a jacket. Over a weedy cobblestone path. I highly recommend reading. Devotion’s Wish by Mary Manners is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Mary Manners. I received a copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to write a positive review.
Devotion's Wish is a great short read. May Manners excels at painting a picture for her readers. "Glass shattered like shrapnel, causing the woman to dance a funky sort of jig to avoid being hit. She lost her grip on the second box, and it somersaulted from her hands. Clothing tumbled and scattered, flapping in the rain-soaked breeze like wilted confetti." (The glass shattering is from a dropped coffeepot.) It's very easy to picture an exhausted, defeated Amie trying to move into a run-down guesthouse while it's pouring down rain. Cade, Amie's neighbor, is raising his young nephew and also has his deceased brother-in-law's ex-military dog. Children and dogs add something special to a story. The book deals with living life when it doesn't look at all like you expected. I found all of the characters but the villain to be loveable. The epilogue contains a great HEA. Devotion's Wish ends at about 70% on my kindle. The author introduces some of her other books and even shares the 1st chapter of one of them. I would recommend this book to clean/wholesome romance readers and to Christian romance readers. I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this well-written book.
Loved this satisfying read of Amie and Cade, who become next door neighbors after Amie’s so-called fiancé scams her out of the biggest real estate deal she had ever made! So, she packs it all up and heads back to “home”, or at least the “janitor’s cottage”, since she had given the big house to her baby sister and her husband. After all, she was never going to live there! Cade turns out to be a caring, loving, dreamboat of a man, and they both find themselves falling for each other. Amie starts to realize how beautiful home really is, how happy she is there, and gets a real sense of who she really is when her sister brings her their father’s oil paints and all of his painting supplies. Amie is able to support herself by selling her paintings in the local art store. And, please read this delightful book for yourself to fill in all of the luscious details that I can’t fit in to this review! It’s so wonderful, you’ll be glad you did! You can’t go wrong with Devotion’s Wish ❤️❤️
Enjoyed Aime and Cade's story. Aime had put all her trust in money and when that was all gone she made it back home. With all her possessions gone she was able to release her creativity and trust God. Cade was muddling along while learning the ropes of fatherhood raising his little nephew Scottie. The authors words cause me to care about the misfortune of the characters. And I laughed out loud when they began finding joy in there everyday events. If you like clean, heartfelt stories, you will enjoy 'Devotion's Wish'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Sometimes we are given exactly what we ask for so we can realize what we never thought we needed is just what GOD had planned all along. Amie Madigan has it all ripped out from under her. She moves home to a small country cottage. Will life ever return to normal for Amie? Cade Lockridge has his hands full raising his nephew. Surviving each day is about all he has time for. But is it all GOD has in mind for his life? Read Devotion’s Wish by Miss Manners to see if their paths have a future. Manners's sweet characters will warm your heart as they make you laugh and cheer throughout this wonderful story. I give 5 devoted stars to Devotion’s Wish
A very touching novella length story that definitely grabs your heartstrings and weaves itself into your heart. The character development is outstanding and well developed. For Amie it is getting back to literally the basics as she begins again. For Cade it is starting over as not-only an uncle but father/mother for Scottie along with Thor. For Julie & Michael it is the addition to their family. Another good addition to this Potter's House #3 series. It would have been great to see this as a longer story with more development.
Mary Manners is truly a wonderful inspirational author. She will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next in her books. In this book you read about a man who is called to take care of his nephew, a lady who has lost everything and second chances. Amie is a special lady who is struggling to get her life back together, Cade is a wonderful person trying to raise his nephew and helping others. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
This is a shorter story so there's not much background info or set up.
Amie's hit a rough patch. She trusted the wrong man and lost her job over it... as well as her trust. Cade is just too good to be true. She is not going down that road again so she pushes him away...
But Cade really is a good guy. He's not keeping score of the kind things he does for her. He just wants to hear her laugh.
I really liked reading Amie and Cade’s story. I could identify with Amie feeling like her life was a failure and her little sister had it all together. I loved watching her grow in confidence in who she was and in her abilities. In addition to Amie and Cade, I loved Julie, Scottie, and, of course, Thor. This was a sweet story and I would recommend it. I received a copy of this book from the author. The thoughts are mine.
I loved reading this story about Amie and Cade. They had become neighbors when she moved into her sister cottage. She had been moving her stuff in and it started raining she fell clothes went on the ground and her coffee maker got broken.
Cade saw that she fell went to help but she was in the house. He saw the coffee maker, so the next morning he brings her coffee. So that's how it started.
Another good book by Mary Manners. I would recommend.
A sweet story of Alana and Donovan. Alana had been hurt by Donovan previously, now she is encouraged by her two sisters to take a vacation. Their grandfather had left them an old building in a great location downtown. They had it demolished and built another which they turned into an eatery. The vacation involved flying with none other than the dreaded Donavan as it turned and from there love grew again!
Moves home BECAUSE she trusted the wrong man. And although her sister is glad, she is not happy. Even when she meets the neighbour, THIS book is totally an amazing story, Loved it!!! Mary Manners sure knows how to write great love stories!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I love how this author makes her characters so real that they jump off the page! The characters in this story are facing trials just like normal every day people face trials. They work through the situations just like regular people do. I really enjoyed this story and the characters! I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Another sweet, inspirational story by Mary Manners. I love her well written books and such wonderful characters. Amie leaves city life because a man has ruined her, Going back home is never easy but it is what she has to do. Cade has had his life turned upside down. can he help Amie to trust again? You won't want to miss this story.
Amie, after losing her job, having to give up her condo, sell her car, tucking her "tail between her legs" goes home to where her sister lives. Cade, the neighbor who is raising his nephew, witnesses Amie's breakdown in big way in a thunderstorm, tries to befriend her. This is a great story about rebuilding faith and trust in yourself as well as others. It pulls you into the story line and makes you empathetic to her plight. I enjoy the author's writing style and encouragement the characters give each other. I was provided with a copy of the book by the author; I give this review voluntarily
A short and sweet story of two people who are healing, and are both very different, and despite trying not to, find themselves attracted to each other. Add in a cute little boy and his dog and get one satisfying story full of likeable characters. Another favorite story from a favorite author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Alana and Cade along with Scottie and Thor the dog! I was very surprised when Joe showed up at Alanas door and so happy when Cade showed up to rescue her in the nick of time!!
Interesting story. You will love to read it. Highly recommend. Story about a young woman who lost almost everything but finally found her real calling and real love.
A short sweet story of second chances when you feel you’ve lost everything. Amie and Caden’s story will touch you as you feel the love of healing throughout.
