I give this book 3,5 stars.

It is a very sweet, cute romance between Liv, a photographer who moves to Chicago from Bloomington, Indiana, to start over and Mal who lives in her new apartment building.

They meet each other the day she moves into the building and he helps vouch for her with the doorman who won’t let her move in. He helps her carry her boxes to her apartment and she figures out that he is her neighbor and throughout the book she figures out who he is which he has kept secret from her. She doesn’t trust very easily since her boyfriend throughout 15 years cheated on her so it is definitely not a good idea to keep his identity a secret. But she slowly gets to know him and starts to trust him but then her ex shows up again and changes everything.
Will there ever be a time that is right for Liv and Mal to have their HEA?
Well enter “Smitten” the ginger tabby Liv adopts since he keeps on showing up in her apartment and bed every morning and “Blue” the grey tabby that Mal adopted from the street outside.

The story is really cute and I loved “Smitten” and “Blue”;-)!
Unfortunately I got a little annoyed with Liv and Mal misunderstanding each other’s signals and the back and forth of liking each other and being mad at each other.
I also had some problems with her work colleagues objectifying the men in their work building. They are very crude. They also pressure Liv into going on a date that she is really not into or ready for. I do understand that it is to help her get out there again but I don’t think it is ok to pressure a person into dating if she is not ready.
I loved Mal’s family and his sisters are so funny and sweet and they make her feel like a part of the family right away.
The humor in the book was great too.

I can recommend this book but don’t expect a steamy romance because it is fade to black.

Adorable Story . . .

Liv Sanders is finally seeing, after more than a decade, that her boyfriend is an unworthy cheater. She is done with being his doormat, and she leaves for Chicago. Fortunately, she is taken under the care of “Smitten”, a cat who knows how to choose his people. He is just what she needs. Her neighbor next door, Malcolm Miller, comes to her rescue often when she needs him. By the way, Malcolm has also been adopted by a cat named Blue, so you know he is “good people”. Cats are very picky about their humans.

But when her life finally starts moving in a positive direction, Liv’s ex-boyfriend David arrives, hoping to revive the terrible relationship she finally got the courage to abandon. And if she won’t take him back, he at least pushes her to let him stay with her since he has no place to go. It will only be a couple of days… or at most 4 weeks! Then he presumed to head to her bedroom until she pointed at the small couch that was “his” while he looked for a new home. Can Smitten give her some guidance here? Or did she not hear when he hissed and swiped a paw at David? Will this make things even worse with Malcolm? Or is he ready to fight for his lady?

This is a really brilliant romance and it is Liv and Malcolm's story. When Liv's boyfriend cheats on her she decides to call it a day on there relationship as she feels that she has put up with enough even though she has to find a new job, new life, new place to live and that is when she decides to go to a new city and ends up in Chicago. When she meets her new neighbour Malcolm who is handsome and keeps coming to her rescue she decided that she is not going there again especially after what she had been through but Smitten the ginger tabby cat that chose to adopt Liv has other idea's. I absolutely loved this book so much and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it was such a fun read and I loved the outcome for Liv and Malcolm. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start but it was Smitten who to me was the star of the show. MJ Adams is a new author and she has written this book so well and I definitely look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Liv finally left boyfriend David after a long rough spell, moving from Indiana to Chicago to start fresh. Smitten, a stray cat, adopted her and has great taste in who to be with. Smitten and her neighbor Malcolm, who has a cat named Blue, both watch out for Liv in the best ways. Just when Liv and Mal are starting to get closer, her ex shows up and camps out, saying he is looking for an apartment and needs a place to crash........staying for a many months and causing her major irritation. The characters are terrific and the storyline is fun and entertaining. Many surprises and twists come into play, especially during the walk to the park toward the end. The family phone talk was perfect and luckily after Mal was able to say a few words first. Great ending.

Sweet but frustrating. 3.5 stars.

There was a lot to like about this book and I thought I would like it more, but I just got increasingly frustrated with the miscommunication and assumptions made by the main characters to the point that I was getting fed up with it. It was a relief to finally reach the HEA.

This is definitely more of wholesome book with a little bit of romance tossed in. Would recommend this book for anyone who wants to read a clean romantic story with characters who secretly long for each other and like cats.

A matchmaking cat with and whole load of coincidences, or are they fate, destiny or serendipity, who knows but there sure is something drawing Mal and Liv together in spite of the return of her cheating ex-boyfriend. So cute, a sweet romance with a HEA.

Awwww! What a sweet story! A lovely slow burn with plenty of smoldering heat but not too spicy. Both Liv and Mal are likable and easy to root for and Mal’s family is delightfully real, mouthy, harsh, and full of love. Smitten is a fun, easy read with well-written characters and a charming romance.

This is a sweet, clean romance with such charming characters and an awesome cat. This was a fun and well written book. I enjoyed the story line and chemistry between the main character and the mystery neighbor. I did not like the ex-boyfriend. I highly recommend this adorable book.
