Marie Lång disappears without a trace. Two months later, her body is found in a lake. And the killer left a strange token. It soon becomes clear that the case is more complex than originally thought, leading Gävle’s police team to a group of unlikely friends with a dramatic past, a self-made millionaire and his family, a missing woman and old cases with a remarkable resemblance to Marie’s murder.
But the attention of Inspector Isa Lindström is not quite on the new case. Still trying to process the impact of the dramatic events on her life, she refuses to accept the official conclusion of the Sandviken case and is determined to bring the real culprits to justice. The arrival of a new superintendent, who seems to have a hidden agenda of his own, further complicates matters.
Will they be able to untangle the web of lies and drama and find Marie’s killer?
And will Isa finally be able to put the Sandviken case to rest? Evil Beneath the Skin is the second book in The Find series. If you have not yet read book one, it is recommended that you read this book first. Book two continues the story that began in "The Find".
Engineer by day, writer by night—that's how I would describe myself. Since childhood, I have been fascinated with how writers can create entire worlds with simple words and draw others into their stories. I remember spending my summer holidays as a teenager reading detective stories and trying to write my own tales in the style of Agatha Christie on an old typewriter (yes, I'm that old!).
In the evenings, I would read my freshly typed pages to my younger sister, always ending on a cliffhanger to keep her longing for more. Those were precious moments. But as I got older and my schedule filled up with a job, husband, and children, there was little time left for writing. Eventually, I realized that all those stories in my head had disappeared.
In 2020, at the start of the Covid pandemic, I decided to reignite my passion for writing and published my first novel, THE FIND, on Amazon. Since then, this has become a full-blown book series.
As a writer, I truly appreciate your feedback and reviews. I am still on a learning curve and can always do better.
I am grateful to all the readers who have taken the time to read my books.
The Find was good and intriguing, but this one was even better. Better written, and I liked the introduction of a new character. Looking forward to the next one.
When the body of a beautiful young woman is found in a lake ..Isla Linsstom is paired with the newly transferred Inspector Timo Paikkala , but her mind is still on the Sandviken case , a case that keeps her awake at night ..she cannot let it go .But this will be a case with a rippling effect like a stone cast onto the water for everyone in the department ..A Darkly Stunning read ..
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great mix of mystery and suspense, with just the right amount of creepiness to keep me turning the pages. I felt like I was right there in the story with the characters and could feel their fear, passion and anger.
Adored everything about this Nordic Noir!!:-). The characters are all so complicated with SOOO many secrets!!!:-). The setting is haunting and the writing is powerful!!:-). I could not stop reading until the end!!!:-). LOVED IT!!:-)
The character's were interestingly good a cracking read the story line was and believable . Read in a short length of time can't wait for the next book. Thanks 😊
This is one of the best thrillers I have read . The attention to detail is second to none . I find Skandi Noir tales immersive as the descriptions of locations make you use your imagination as well . A great novel to read . I will definitely follow the author .
I liked the ending of the first book because it was so unexpected. However, the follow up was not as successful. There were too many cases that confused the issue. The one main plot was the one I was interested to see resolve.
kindle - 4.5* - actually really enjoying this The Find series and glad I read this straight after because it closely links. Spotted quite a few editing errors in this but still such a good book and series - onto the third!!!
This is the second book in the series. It was very good and I am just going to start book 3 Retribution. I have enjoyed reading These two books very much and recommended them to my sister.
