When matchmaking software pairs a woman with her worst ex, she gets a unique second chance to connect with the love of her life.
After years of bad dates, Tayla Murphy has decided it’s finally time she found her ideal partner, so she pays a hefty fee for a cutting-edge “soulmate” matching service. But the infallible algorithm must have a serious glitch, because it pairs her with the one man on Earth she never wants to see Simon—the man who left her heart in pieces when he broke off their engagement six years ago. Tayla would rather cut her losses, but if she’s going to move forward with her life, she needs the money back.
Then Simon shows up on her doorstep, promising Tayla he can get her a refund by showing the service that the match was wrong. But he wants her to really prove they aren’t meant to be—by dating him for the next month. Even though he thinks the service is a fraud, Simon has been desperate for a second chance with Tayla ever since he messed up their shot at happily-ever-after. They still have an amazing connection, but a lot has happened in the time they were apart. So is this a mismatch or a perfect match?

I had a hard time deciding between three and four stars for this one. Ultimately I would give it 3 1/2 so I rounded to four.
I am typically not a fan of the second chance romance troops. So this has an uphill battle to climb. For their part, I liked the characters in the story. One thing I didn’t like was soulmates reunited or how they were worked into the story. I understand the role they play in the story, and why they had to be kept in it till the end, it just did not add value past a certain point for me. Especially the way things end with the company... didn’t care for it.
The ending was cute, though. This is a story that will make a great audiobook. Depending on who narrates it, I would definitely listen to it, so I could hear it narrated.
A cute and sexy rom-com that explores the notions of soulmates and whether someone can be your perfect match but also the person who broke your heart into a million pieces. Will the second time around be the one?
"Our gazes lock, and the determination in hers tells me it’s going to be an uphill battle to win her back. She’s always been stubborn. No problem. My endurance is going to surprise her. I grin, and she scowls."
As the blurb states, this is a second chance romance where a fraudulent dating site matches two ex-es as each other's soulmates and while Tayla thinks it's impossible for them to rekindle their relationship, Simon is set to win her back. I really enjoyed the writing style and the beginning was amazing. Tayla & Simon had a palpable chemistry and their connection was undeniable but I just could not believe the stupid explanation that Simon gave for leaving Tayla that part pissed me off. My only problem with the book was Simon's maturity because he had none. I liked his friend Aaaron more than him at times tbh. His inability to tell Tayla the entire truth got on my nerves, if that wasn't the case, the book would've been perfect for me because the scenes where he put so much effort to spend time with Tayla were so adorable and sizzling with the chemistry between them. Overall, I still think this book was enjoyable and if you're looking for a second chance romance, you should pick this up!
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review
This book satisfies all my epic grovel craving. It has been a while since I read a grovel this good! I'M JUST SO OBSESSED WITH GROVELLING SEND HELP
I understand Tayla's fears and insecurities, after Simon left her without proper reason. This was soooo satisfying. And she made him prove himself and didn't give in like two seconds after he said sorry. She made it hard for him. She cried. He cried. I CRIED. Everything was perfectly executed. The growth, the maturity, the development. I loved this book!
Six years ago, Tayla and Simon were about to be engaged when Simon abruptly ended things. Tayla has no idea what happened and was devastated by the breakup. But, after six years, Tayla thinks she’s ready for love again, and she goes to an expensive matchmaking company. Much to her shock and ire, she’s matched with her old love.
Tayla has no intention of dating the man who broke her heart, but Simon is determined to win Tayla back. Simon knows he made a big mistake six years ago, and losing Tayla is his biggest regret in life. Though he wants to prove that the matchmaking company is predatory and lying to its clients, he also wants to reconnect with Tayla.
Tayla and Simon have unbelievable chemistry, and it’s clear there are a lot of unresolved feelings between them. There’s so much angst and longing and connection between them, but there are also lies, secrets, and past hurts standing in their way. It’s interesting to see how they work through the past while they reconnect in the present. Their relationship is complicated and messy, and they both struggle with their insecurities and fears, but their feelings for each other, no matter what they’re going through, are palpable.
There’s a part in the story where they talk about having the right love at the wrong time, and I think this is a perfect explanation of Simon and Tayla’s past relationship. Six years have passed since their breakup, and both characters are better able to look at what happened between them from a different perspective. They both realize a lot about themselves and their part in the relationship’s successes and failures.
Early on in the story, I felt like Simon had a lot of groveling to do if he wanted any kind of redemption because he really did Tayla wrong. Well, he most definitely knows how to grovel, and I adored it! He does so much to prove to Tayla how much he cares and how sorry he is for the past, and Tayla does not make it easy for him. I don’t blame her! She finds it difficult to trust Simon again and is afraid loving him will shatter her heart more than it did the first time. Tayla shows so much growth over the course of the story, as does Simon.
Though I didn’t really agree with how long he withheld some things from Tayla, I loved how hard Simon worked to win back her affection. He is thoughtful and patient, and he has grown up a lot since he last saw her years ago. I also loved how supportive he was of Tayla following her dreams. And the ending is super cute and a perfect conclusion to their story.
This is a fun contemporary romance. It’s sweet, romantic, and sexy, and the second-chance love story has some great messages about love, forgiveness, following your heart, and more. Thanks to Wattpad for sending me a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
OMG the cries I cried reading this book! I absolutely LOVED it.
Tayla and Simon are about to be engaged when Simon just breaks it all off. What the heck happened?! Tayla doesn't know, but she does know that Simon immediately started seeing someone else. Now six years later she's ready to give love one last try so she signs up for Soulmates Reunited, a service her best friend used successfully, but when Tayla is matched with Simon she can't imagine anything could be worse!
This was a roller coaster. Second chance romance perfection.
The only thing I wasn't happy with was the lack of consequences for the company, even if the outcome is the reality, I didn't like it.
I was provided an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the opportunity.
I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance. I do usually hate the miscommunication and want to shake the party who’s holding back and yell, “Just tell her/him the truth already!” But all that pain and yearning makes for an oh-so-satisfying HEA in this engaging story by Wendy Million. The chemistry is there, folks, and only Simon could be Tayla’s soulmate. If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy beach read, this one’s for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for this complimentary ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Pub Date 13 Jun 2023
This was very sweet and I liked it a lot. It was a fun second chance romance. The two MC were very likable and the hero wasn't the tormented asshole type and I appreciated that. A lovely, sweet, romantic story. I liked Tayla and Simon a lot. I loved that they both had their own insecurities and they were not "perfect". Both of them were such a wonderful match, these two flawed, yet fantastically strong individuals learning to trust eachother again was a complete treat to witness. The other characters were interesting too and I wish we'd get to know them better. The soulmate matching service plot was okay, but the resolution of it was kind of sloppy and left me underwhelmed. But overall Miss Matched was a nice read. It had humor, romance and good plotline. And it was just the right combination of them. Recommended.

This book pulled me in from the first line. I found the premise very interesting and am a sucker for a second chance romance. While I didn’t always agree with the choices the characters made, I really liked both Simon and Tayla. I felt like I truly understood where both characters were coming from once all the details were laid out. This story gave me all the feels, both happy and sad. It’s not a sad story insomuch as a realistic one. They had a past they had to work through. Both characters had their own truths to accept and futures to map out and heads to get straight. For me, there really was a palpable connection between the pair, a magic that zinged between them that came alive in the pages of the story. If I could have changed anything, it would have been complete honesty from both characters from the beginning. Then again, the story would have been drastically different and lacking the richness it had. The MCs didn’t just grow, they found a way to rebuild the trust that had been lost between them, forging a path to a love-filled happily ever after.

This book is one in the Million! Heart warming, smile in your face guaranteed story with an orijinal plot. Well, it shouldn't be shocking considering each one of her stories are amazing.
I saw the synopsis of this book and I had to have it. Tayla and Simon were matched as soul mates, but that just can't be because they have a past, and that disaster doesn't equal soulmates in Tayla's mind. Tayla hasn't ever gotten over F'ing Simon, and when she is paired with him, she thinks the universe is playing a huge joke on her. When he steps into her clinic, she remembers all of the things that she used to love about him, and all of the ways he hurt her. You see, they were the real thing, or at least she thought they were, until it came out that it was all a lie. Simon knows that he messed up years ago. Tayla was it for him and he got cold feet and bailed. He made mistakes that he greatly wishes he could do over, but life doesn't work that way. Unless, now is his do over and he wants to make Tayla see he has changed and he can now be the man she needs. I really enjoyed the premise and I loved how far Simon was willing to go to get back the girl he will never get over. He was sweet as pie and *almost* the perfect book boyfriend. I understand his dilemma from the past, but I really wish that a miscommunication (non communication) wasn't what had blown things up so badly all those years ago. I also felt like he was old enough to know better at that age, and this was something I would expect from a guy in his early twenties, not mid twenties, but I guess guys mature slower? All in all, I understood all of Tayla's reservations with giving him another chance, and I also was happy that he really never let her down, besides not getting into what happened that fateful night for way, way too long. This should have been one of the first things they discussed, but the longer it went on, the more it felt like he just wished it would go away. I would definitely recommend this book if you want a sweet romance that will give you all the swoony feels. Thank you to Wattpad, Wendy Million and Netgalley for an early copy.
A surprising second-chance romance. Sometimes we get it all wrong before we get it right. That's Simon. Now he's pulling out all the stops to win Tayla back. Does he deserve it? Well, that's for you to decide. Releasing June 13th from Wattpad Books. ~Tanja
Miss matched is about Simon and Tayla who had a bad break up 6 years ago. They find their way back to each other through a match making company that Tayla put her whole life savings into so she could find her forever person. When she gets her match it comes up as he ex boyfriend who broke her heart 6 years prior.
Tayla has not yet forgiven Simon for breaking her heart. But Simon is not the same person he was 6 years ago, he realized how much he screwed up their relationship and how much he wants her back. I did think Simon was slightly immature at times in the book but I did find their banter and chemistry to be great. This is a second chance rom com with dual POV. I did think this was between a 3 1/2-4 star book! I really did enjoy it and would probably pick up more books by this author!
My Review: Miss Matched by Wendy Million was an emotional rollercoaster mixed with a happy sigh and a sweet thank you. I loved this story!
About the Book: This angsty second-third chance love story reunited Simon, a green-eyed nurse with a face-planting past and Tayla, a raven-haired veterinarian with a broken heart wide open love for the aforementioned. Their story was one of friendship, laughter, chemistry, and the potential for forever...until it wasn't. Miscommunication, fear and anxiety, immaturity, and doubt led them down a path that ventured beyond each other.
On a quest to find more, in terms of a true partner and companion, Tay enlists the help of a dating service. Little did she know that it would cause her to cross paths with her ex. While Si was interested in Tay, she was only interested in getting as far away from him as she could. A question that needed to be answered was ever before them. Could they move beyond a heartbreaking betrayal and be completely reconciled?
My Final Say: This was a yes even before I finished.
Appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher, and to NetGalley, who provided access to this title in exchange for an honest review. The words I have voluntarily shared are my own.
Book boyfriend - check, second chance romance, check, cute funny moments - check, love story you wish would happen to you - check. Romantic comedy perfection - check check! Could not put this down, I was rooting for Simon and Tayla the whole time.
Lightning in a bottle! Tayla is looking for her soulmates six years after Simon, the love of her life, broke her heart. She turns to a Soulmate matching service that promises to find her one true love - only to be matched with Simon! They team up to try to get Tayla's money back from the the shady company only to grow closer once again.
The chemistry and banter between these two is sweet and steamy. I loved their relationship with each other and their friends. Simon is a full on golden retriever MMC who will do anything to win Tayla back.
This book is sweet, funny and lightly steamy. I enjoyed this couples journey through healing their past in order to move forward in their lives.
4/5 Simon and Tayla make quite the pair in this second chance/fake dating romance. I loved the setup for this story and really enjoyed getting to know Simon and Tayla. A few portions of the book were a bit clique but overall a fun read that reminds us that sometimes that one that got away does find their way back to us.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed this so much. What a great second chance romance in the most unique way possible. I loved the match making concept and I feel like the reasons for their breakup was solid on both sides but was frustrating at times. In the end it was beautiful and I enjoyed it overall. Thank you netgalley for the arc.
Thank you to Wattpad books for kindly sending me an ARC Copy of this book, much appreciated.
Imagine wanting to find your soulmate? The one person you matched up perfectly with, and essentially was the one you were meant to be with. With Soulmates Reunited, it used a combination of answers from the users to compare with other users to find your own soulmate. For Tayla Murphy, she was done waiting around for love and decided to take the chance on using the same method her friend used. Hoping that she’ll find the man of her dreams, and lived happily ever after seemed like it would be a lovely moment. Until, after receiving her match results, it turned out that apparently Tayla’s soulmate match was none other than her ex, Simon Buchannan.
Six years ago, Tayla thought she’d be getting engaged and starting a new chapter in her life except, it ended with her boyfriend dumping her while on a romantic date… uh oh. Tayla couldn’t believe that her supposed soulmate was, Simon, literally the last person she thought she’d be face to face with after their disastrous breakup. Meanwhile, the moment Simon saw that he got matched up with Tayla, it seemed like this was the chance he needed in order to not only make things right, but also the opportunity to get back the woman he gave up years ago. This was kind of a second chance romance, and it seemed Simon was very determined in winning Tayla back, but Tayla was still on the fence against Simon.
Right away, it was clear that Tayla still held some residual feelings over Simon, a mix of feeling hurt by what he did and a little bit of…shall I say?… desire for him? Tayla seemed like she was going about her life normally as could be. From running her veterinary practice to hoping she’d get a spot in the exchange veterinary program, it still didn’t fill the void she felt as the possibility of finding her own love. With Simon back in her life, it brought back all the memories from their past relationship. If my ex broke up with me the way Simon did, you best believe I too would shut the door in his face, but for Tayla things were on the line, namely the chance to get back her amount of money she spent on Soulmates Reunited. A lot of conflicting feelings going through Tayla’s mind from starting to soften her resolve on not liking Simon to trying to maintain her guard as to protect herself from getting hurt again.
Simon was definitely prepared to make things right with Tayla, no matter what, he was determined to make his second chance worth it! In the beginning, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Simon other than, “omg I love his dog, Rex”! Haha aside from that Simon seemed like a nice guy minus the horrible way he broke up with Tayla years ago (shame on Simon). I will say, the way that Simon planned out his dates with Tayla really did reflect the thought he put into each outing from things that Tayla liked to do to things she’d mentioned in the past when they were together and using that as ideas for their dates. The truth behind why Simon broke up with Tayla abruptly didn’t seem that big of a deal, but for Simon it was. I could understand some aspects as to Simon’s reasoning to the breakup, but with the way it was referenced before the reveal just made it seem like different than what I was expecting. I guess in some regard, Simon’s decision in the breakup was his way of realizing he wasn’t ready to fully propose to Tayla, and now he was pulling all the steps to ensure he got her back forever.
Even with all the tension and later little bit of flirtation and sexy times going on, Tayla was still putting up her guards around Simon. I don’t blame Tayla for wanting to protect herself, but I felt a little bad for Simon, especially after they had a steamy moment in her bedroom, Tayla went back into acting like whatever happened was no big deal. Tayla and Simon both still had feelings for each other, which was clear from the way they were whenever they were together, but even with all that attraction, they still had some obstacles they had to overcome in order to be together.
From my first impression of this book, I loved the cover and was really interested with the story. There were some things that I liked and didn’t like in this book. My biggest issue would have to be the organization of the main problem, and the miscommunication trope. Though towards the end, it was cleared up a bit. My favorite part of the book was probably Simon and Tayla themselves, they were both flawed in vulnerable from their relationship and showed that not everything goes according to plan. The growth between Tayla and Simon was great, and ultimately they way that got back together was actually really sweet. Omg I especially loved the epilogue! That’s the kind of romantic gesture I would dream about! No joke! This book was lighthearted, sweet, illustrated the struggles that Tayla and Simon faced with their relationship. Also I really do love the cover, I can’t get over it.
Another great Canadian author - I read one of her Bellerive Royals books (as W. Million) last year and fell for her writing. I'm always happy to add another Canadian author to my list of favourite authors, so when I saw her ARC come up for the release of her next book, I was very excited to receive it!
I really enjoyed Miss Matched - a solid 4-star read for me. It wasn't what I was expecting but that is in the best way! It was slightly like Christina Lauren's Soulmate Equation at the start (the premise with the specialized dating service and the soulmate promise), and the first third of it was seeming to be a lighthearted Rom Com, but then it took a turn and got fairly serious and emotional straight through until the end.
Tayla flies from Grand Rapids to NYC and spends her entire life savings to a specialized company where you fill in an intense questionnaire to determine who your soulmate is - you only get one match from millions in the database. She'd been single a long time and dumped by the one she thought was going to be her "forever" about 6 years before. She was crushed by finally ready to try again and get married, after watching her best friend rely on this company, find her Soulmate and live happily ever after. Once all is done, the name that comes up as her "One" is none other than the heartbreaker - the system must be broken. They won't give her a second match. They won't give her a refund. There's nothing to be done unless he doesn't respond to her after the required 1 month communication period.
Simon ("f-ing Simon" as she and her friends had named him) comes across the email in his junk folder by accident, and shows up at her work a week later. Decides he needs a second chance with Tayla because she is the one that got away - because this company, among other outside sources, got into his head and instead of proposing to her that night 6 years ago, he broke up with her and Soulmates Reunited forced him to destroy his life and date another woman who they promised was his soulmate. He never signed up for this dating service so why were they meddling? Surely now can he finally take them down for ruining his life...
This one was partly lighthearted and then got quite heavy - be prepared going in for some big emotions, but it was very enjoyable! If you liked Christina Lauren's The Soulmate Equation and True Love Experiment, you will also love this one like I did! I definitely recommend it - if you haven't read Wendy Million (or W Million) before, you will absolutely want to pick this up!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group (W by Wattpad Books), and this is my honest review.
I want to thank Wattpad WEBTOON BookGroup, W by Wattpad Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Miss Matched. All opinions presented here are solely mine.
Synopsis from Goodreads
Miss Matched is a fun read, and I was hooked from the first chapter. And dare I say, one I would love to see adapted! While the story is told using dual POV, it is easy to understand which character we were with as the chapters were labeled.
The first third of the books is relatively PG, with some hand holding and kissing with one word swear word being used a few time. But once Tayla and Simon get to the bedroom, all bets are off. While the scenes are rather steamy, they are brief overall and only occur a few times in the book.
I enjoyed the fact that Tayla and Simon are both in careers that could be considered outside of the gender -norm. Tayla is a veterinarian and Simon is an ER nurse. Yes, I know there are many females that are vets and males that are nurses, but they aren't careers that are normally considered for their gender. There are a few scenes set in their respected workplaces as well.
The story is a romantic comedy, but there are also some serious parts. There are discussions of healthy relationships and mental health. How does one handled the ending of a long-term relationship? Or rejection?
Overall, Miss Matched is a fun read that I feel most people will connect with.
Miss Matched by Wendy Million is a second chance romance that follows nurse Simon Buchanan and doctor Tayla Murphy.
I loved how committed and determined Simon was to win Tayla back after breaking her heart six years prior. This showed how genuinely Simon was to Tayla, yet I also admire Tayla for first refusing to give him a chance.
Even with Simon's "groveling," I must admit that he broke Tayla's heart over the simplest of things six years ago, and I secretly wish Tayla hadn't even bothered to give him a chance. Also, Tayla stays mad at Simon for a very long time after learning the whole truth, which I would have been okay with if she hadn't forgiven him so easily for a box that he had saved up from their past relationship.
All things considered, there was a lot of potential for this book; but, there were a lot of things that could have been avoided.
*Thank you to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, and to the author, Wendy Million, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*
Tayla is after her happy ending and hires a company that guarantees to find her soulmate. What she didn't imagine is that they would say her soulmate is the man who broke her heart all those years ago. The company contacts Simon, and he sees this as an opportunity to get a second chance. But Tayla doesn't want him back in her life. She wants her money back. But the company will only return part of the money if her soulmate does not contact her. Simon convinces her to give him 3 weeks to show her that they can be soulmates if, in that time, he fails to convince her, he'd helped her get the money back. But when they start getting along again, Tayla realizes that the feelings she had for Simon are still very much alive.
I found myself smiling several times while reading this book. It was a pleasant read. But I didn't really like the plot. But overall, it's a good read.
I hated this so much and it made me realize I actually despise second-chance romances. What I hated was that the main reason for their breakup years ago was a lack of communication, a trope I dislike in romance. Due to this lack of communication, Simon did something truly idiotic that hurt Tay greatly. When Tay finally learns the truth, she easily forgives Simon, yet she continues to bring it up and be angry long after the confession is made. I honestly felt like, since this was the case, she shouldn't have even bothered to give Simon another chance.
i enjoyed it until i sat down to write this review. the more i think about it, the more confused i get and the book seems dumber and dumber. whoops i wrote a rant review on accident :( ---
the more i think about the implications of the actual soulmates reunited business plan, the more stupid it gets. they only take female clients. they get the men from dating sites. so. a woman gets a name and has to randomly seek out the guy? and this is how every single match works? and somehow it is NOT public knowledge that they data mine from dating apps. how do people think they are finding these men. also that's SO fucking weird. you get a man's name and you have to go???? find him??? if men can't use the service then how are the women supposed to get into contact with them? does the woman have to stalk him? or does soulmates reunited SHARE the men's personal information with them? THAT'S shady. that could even be its own lawsuit, probably. imagine a random woman walks up to you and says you're her soulmate because a company told her so. NONE OF THESE MEN HAD QUESTIONS?
the entire meeting with soulmates reunited frustrated me. soulmates reunited did legitimately harass him and they had proof of that, and it caused actual harm to his well being. he has a restraining order to prove it. he could've definitely sued them - they shared his address with her. i don't know why they bothered with the other girls and the tayla thing. they had NO legal backing for that. especially with the "the other two girls got another match as a refund" thing that they didn't tell simon and tayla about? for some reason? why go through the trouble of meeting with them at all?
soulmates reunited actually held up their side of their deal with tayla. they're shady, but they aren't a fraud. not in a way that is different than every other company that exists. it's super fucking childish on tayla's part to think that they could just demand a refund despite not abiding to the deal that tayla made.
AND ANOTHER THING. soulmates reunited's services are apparently SO MUCH MONEY that it's the equivalent of putting DOWN PAYMENT ON A HOUSE?????????? that's too much money babe.
soulmates reunited. why is it REunited. that implies that they are. reuniting couples. is this supposed to be smart because it's a second chance romance? it doesn't make any sense in the context of the novel.
i buy that simon was overwhelmed six years ago. i get why. and i liked the miscommunication. but it did drag. also they hook up fairly early on (~30%) and i really am not a fan of that. i think it mostly works in this specific book because it's a second chance romance and they DO have a lot of sexual chemistry. i actually really liked the aftermath of them hooking up. tayla acting nonchalant and simon feeling "like a sex toy" - that hit.
they really do love each other, i buy that. i think i would read more books by this author. hopefully those books aren't from wattpad, though.
4.5 🌟 • 2nd Chance Romance through a matchmaking service. • Tayla & Simon couldn't keep their hands off each other, and I couldn't put this one down. • Romance felt real between MCs, and definitely had the 🥵 • Loved the animal aspect • Tayla & Simon both had reasons for why romance the first time didn't work out, it felt believable to me, & I was rooting for it to work for them 2nd time around.
This book was absolutely amazing. I love how no matter what he fought for her. It was funny, crazy, and romantic all at once. The last few chapters had me in tears. I loved how Simon let her be herself and chase her dreams. We love a supportive partner!
