Peter and the Wolves #2

Peter and the River

Rate this book
My name is Peter Royale. I used to be a pup at the mercy of five ravenous wolves, but now I am now the leader of the pack.

The pack is small, and leading is not enough. I need a man who will further my ambitions and who can satisfy certain other hungers that drive me. I need a man of potency and skill.

I think I’ve found that man.

Magnus is a powerful leader in the hidden world of the forest—a world I never knew existed. With Magnus comes Neil, the boy from my past who I could have loved, if it hadn’t been forbidden. But can the secret world of the forest unify to stand against what is coming? And can I trust Magnus enough to be his?

AUTHORS NOTE: Peter and the Wolves was a project that I started to entertain myself this year. It’s WAY outside of the box of what I usually write, so if you’re looking for my standard Historical Romance fare, this ain’t it! But if you’re looking for a non-magical sort-of-fantasy, epic, MMM+, SUPER-steamy story of a young man coming into his own and discovering his political and “personal” power, this is the series for you!

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Steam level – SUPER, insanely steamy!

Men might be the rulers of nations, but their cocks and hearts ruled them. That was the one and only law that I truly needed to know.

when peter chose power and ambition over love was the moment i knew peter and the river is going to be a fucking win. not just a win but these two books from merry farmer went up straight for this year's best reads for me. this story is overflowing with romance, heartbreaks, sex, and political talks. from the start, i just knew i will love the first three but all the matters political definitely got me. imagine peter getting lectured with all these political shebang while getting fucked. turns out, i was also so invested to learn everything just like peter. this fucker slut his way up to abandon the man who loves him deeply into the arms of another powerful man who can help him with his ambitions.

"And why is it necessary for the two of you to make whores of yourselves for the entertainment of a few old men?"
"Because we are the voices that whisper in the ears of the men who make the world move."

if there is a twist in this story, i'm giving to the romance. finally a healthy and beautiful depiction of mmm romance. i was sooo ready not to get it especially when i understood where the story is going and also even though i loved the first book it got almost no mmm romantic elements to me. peter's arrangement with his new lovers were just phenomenal to me. i've read a lot of poly romances but usually at least one is being left out but definitely not in this. one of them brings dominance, the other gives submission, and peter gives both of these to them. i don't care what will happen to the last book coming out this october but i wanna pray that nothing bad happens to my favorite triad. i just wanna see them thriving and prospering in the end. if their world ended in flames but as long they got each other, i'm okay with that.

Again, I enjoyed the middle parts way more than the beginning and the end. And while I'm glad Peter got away from Sascha, boy was that a brutal breakup.

No

What a joke of the character Peter. The first half of the first book was good, it was promising, but this… No. So Peter, who never had an once of love, touch, generosity in his life gets caught up in the wolves who cherish him like no other. Then gets power becoming a leader. Shits on Sasha like nothing happened because he wants more power and to fuck other people while he says he loves him and leaves Sasha broken? What a dick. He left the only people that gave a damn for him. SMH

This next book of the Peter and the Wolves series is fantastic. Keep in mind that this series is unlike any Merry has written before. This is new and different labor of love and a gift she's giving us. I definitely recommend starting with the first book. Here we have Peter in his new role but is it time for a change for Peter. Peter is a dynamic character who is learning his way and coming into his own. Learning his wants and desires. The cast of characters in this book leap from the page. You feel them. The world they live in is interesting and you will long to see it grow. If you like intricate worlds, beautiful characters, sexy time and intimacy along with a story that grips you right then I highly recommend this book.

I’d forgotten there was a reason I stopped reading books by this author…the prose. Over-explaining, using five words when one would be better, irrelevant sentences that make me go huh?, grammatical mistakes and more over-explaining and over-describing b/c she doesn’t give the reader enough credit.
So while this plot is actually interesting, the writing bogs it down and makes the story rougher and less enjoyable.
I also lost some respect for Peter due to how he treated Sascha that first morning after Sascha found him with Magnus. For someone trying to be a leader, Peter’s inability or unwillingness to explain his defection came across as weak and cowardly.
Still have to finish the series though… I’m invested now.

It felt like a slog tbh, wasn’t a book I was looking forward into picking up. Peter got on my nerves alot with his arrogance.

I hated how he treated Sacsha, he really did use him and break his heart.

I’ve downloaded book 3, but it’s equally as long and I’m not sure I have the energy.

I really liked the first book in the series. I like this 2nd volume even better. The book is growing with political intrigue and maneuvering. I love the development of Peter politically, but also relationally and sexually. The development sexually between Peter, Magnus and Neil is beautiful. Oh, to have the stamina and turnaround time of Peter and Neil!! Erotic, most definitely. Good story development, too. I am looking forward to see what happens in volume three and relationships on all levels will surely get more complicated and wonderful.

I so loved Sascha for Peter and hated that they had to part and they way they did. My heart broke for Sascha, but angry at his stubbornness for not hearing anyone. Peter could be a selfish little imp, but he needed to move on and up. I was hesitant for him to move on with Magnus, so worried he would be hurt again. Was so glad things developed as they did for him with Magnus and Neil.
I enjoyed the packs coming and the pups joining together. I still worry that Peter is in danger.
Moving onto the next one.

I originally put off reading the second book in this series because I read all of the blurbs and felt sad that Peter and Sascha would not get their happily ever after together. However, once I started this book and fully understood that this is not a traditional romance series, I was all in. This is the beginning of Peter truly coming into his own, as much political thriller as erotica, and I can't wait to continue the series now that I know what I'm truly getting into.

Absolutely stellar world- and plot-building continues in this second installment of Peter's adventures in self-discovery. Loved it! Heart-breaking at times, sweet & tender, raunchy, intelligent, political, educational, all of that and much more, make up this amazing story. I can't wait to see where & how Peter's continuing journey unfolds & plays out; who he'll meet, friend or foe alike. So intriguing! On to book three!

Politics becomes a big part of the

While this book is still mostly about Peter and his love life politics becomes a bigger part of the story. This book introduces people and complications that Peter is only now waking up to. It’s a fascinating read from Merry Farmer that I greatly enjoyed.

This one has a fair bit more to the worldbuilding as the reader is given a glimpse of the wider world, with plenty of foreshadowing for what's to come. Plenty of spice.

The editor in me is still twitching at the homophone errors (breech/breach, your/you're etc.), but it won't stop me from continuing the series. I'm invested in seeing where this goes.

Peter and the River (Peter and the Wolves Book 2) by Merry Farmer – This is on kindle unlimited. Peter is no longer content with a small pack. His political ambitions are going to lead him to a host of new allies as the kingdoms around him head for chaos. Happy Reading!

Intriguing

Like the first book this is more than a romance novel. It is also erotic and steamy. Peter's personality is developing in this well crafted story. Enjoy!

Peter is a freaking hypocrite and a user. Everything Sasha said to him was correct. Peter doesn't deserve him anyway.

I love this! I don’t know how I talked myself into reading this series because it’s not my usual thing. But Peter is an amazing MC! And I love Neil and he deserves all the happiness in the world! And Magnus is growing on me. I can’t wait to see more of the machinations of this wonderful threesome!
