What Will Be

Losing Love

Rate this book
Losing Love and Watch Over My Life are both standalone books in the What Will Be book series and can be read in any order, but it is recommended that both are read before If By Chance).

To fall in love with her future, she must face the consequences of her past.

When I was nineteen, I had a plan. Work hard, become a teacher, and spend the rest of my life with my childhood sweetheart, Nick. But here's the thing with plans-they're fickle. I didn't plan for Nick to die that year, or all the choices I'd have to make.

Six years on, I didn't plan to stumble into Alex Hale-the man with piercing blue eyes and a smile that makes me melt. I didn't plan to fall in love with him. With his heat and passion, he reignited the fire I had lost.

But I made choices in my past that will jeopardize everything. It's a past that taught me our words can hurt, but it's the ones we don't have time to say that can destroy us.

"Because you Mandy Parker, are the easiest person to love."

Losing Love is about love and family but also about healing and letting yourself love again after closing off your heart for so long. It was such a heartwarming and emotional book that really tugs at your heart strings. Overall it was just an incredible book and I was hooked from start to finish. The author was able to write about these heavy moments while effortlessly giving you moments that make you swoon, laugh, and cry and that was truly magical.

Losing Love follows Mandy six years on from losing her first love Nick in a tragic accident and she is left to make the hardest decision someone has to make that changed her forever. Mandy has never let herself love since losing Nick and struggles daily with the pain of her past. In walks Alex Hale with his blue eyes and charming smile into Mandy's life, and it truly was fate that put these two together. They truly were written in the stars. Mandy begins to open herself up to the possibility to love someone other than Nick and it was truly beautiful to see. She is a character that deserved the entire world. But will Mandy's past choices ruin her and Alex?

I won't say anymore because you truly should go in blind. I can't express how much I love this book and how much it affected me. Make sure you have your tissues ready because if you're like me you'll cry. The writing was so beautiful and I am officially a Laura Ashley Gallagher fan because wow. You all need to read this because you all need to experience this story of loss, love and healing.

Thank you to the author for this incredible ARC! I need to read Watch Over My Life because if it's anything like this I know I'm going to LOVE IT!!

ok wow!!
This book was just beautiful.
It was realistic, compelling and touching.
I don't know how Laura did it, but all I know is that it won't be my last book from her!!
Her style of writing is very pleasant and simply very beautiful.
Now to the storyline, Mandy and Alex were just THE couple for me.
Mandy is a very strong person, she has been through a lot and has her own problems. At first she wasn't sure if she could ever love anyone again.
Then came Alex into her life.
Alex, on the other hand, wants to give her enough time and is understanding and on the other hand he looks hot and wants her for himself.
The connection that both feel is easy to grasp.
I'm telling you prepare yourself, the plot twist was very unexpected but couldn't have been better.
The last chapters have warmed my heart and especially the last 3 chapters have made me more than happy.
Be patient, it will be worth it!!
The last chapter really brought tears to my eyes.
I love the book, I would like to tell you one more thing that made me particularly happy, but it would be a huge spoiler.

I have thoughts.

I really liked his book. It was heartfelt and immersive, and I really felt for these characters. Nick wasn't even a character that the readers had a chance to know but I was sobbing when he died and while reading the letter he wrote to Mandy. I predicted what the big plot twist would be pretty early on but I still felt the all the necessary emotions. I cried a lot while reading this book, happy tears and sad tears. I know that Mandy's journey and her relationship with Ava is one of the most important parts of this book. I felt so connected to Mandy and God was I rooting for her. I just wanted her to be happy and at peace! She was so strong and had suffered so much. I'm so glad that she was reunited with her daughter and was given the chance to be in her life. Mandy and Lydia's friendship was so beautiful and touching.

The romance was also beautiful and I really loved Mandy and Alex together. It was clear how much they loved each other and I'm happy that they got their happy ending. However, there is one thing that really frustrated me. I knew that Mandy and Alex would be put through it, I knew that there would be some sort of break up after the big reveal. A little angst never hurt anyone and boy was the second half of this book Angsty. Now, I understand that Alex was in shock, he was confused and hurt and he needed time to process things. But he had no right to treat Mandy the way he did. He had no right to be so angry with her, like she did what she did on purpose. Like she did something to hurt him directly. I feel like he lacked empathy for her and I couldn't understand why he was so cold towards her. Lydia was suffering a terminal illness and had to accept that she would be leaving this world behind. Mandy was struggling with guilt, heart break and grief. But for some reason Alex was the one stomping around... Men are so entitled. He had no right to feel so opposed to the idea of Ava and Mandy together. For months upon months, he was distant from Mandy and it broke my heart for her. He was too busy thinking about himself. And I know that he apologised, and in the end he did accept Mandy as a guardian for Ava and he slowly started to act more civil towards her but that wasn't enough in my opinion. I needed that man to grovel!!!! I wanted Mandy to make him work for it. He broke her heart. I know that he was hurting too, but I'm sorry, Mandy's pain and her circumstances trumped his. Also, it just didn't make a lot of sense. It was clear that he loved her so much, she was everything to him. Again, I know that he was hurt but it's not like she did something unforgivable. If he truly loved her, he would not have given up like that. He should've taken time to come to terms with this revelation and then worked it out with her. I still don't even fully understand why he was so upset with her!!! and even while he was upset and not talking to her, he was still madly in love with her. I don't know why he believed that they couldn't be together, especially after Ava was so happy to form a relationship with Mandy and it was going so well. He was so obsessed with her and him deciding to totally shut her out with no explanation was out of character in my opinion. I feel like it was poor writing and the author decided to do it to add some drama without really thinking it through. They didn't get back together until 96% of the book. For the majority of the second half of the book, they were on the outs. It was a waste of time in my opinion. Their love story was so strong and so beautiful in the first half. Some of their moments gave my literal goosebumps!!! I wanted to see more of them figure out this new family with Ava TOGETHER. The epilogue wasn't enough. We deserved to see them navigate parenthood together. The book lost a star because of this. It legit frustrated me to no end. At some point, I didn't even want her to get back together with him. Mandy was the heart of this story, her journey and her growth. I hate that Alex believed his pain to be more significant than hers. I know this might make him seem like was a terrible guy. He really wasn't. I loved him and he loved Mandy so much, but he just annoyed me in the second half. I'm glad that he came to his senses eventually. His proposal could've been a bit better though.

This book definitely has is it all. Angst, chemistry, character development, spice, sadness and happiness.

I'm not going to lie. I really liked this book. There were a few things that I didn't enjoy but as a whole, it's quite enjoyable. Alex and Mandy are a lovable couple that really made me want to pull my hair out in some scenes. Mandy is trying to go through her daily after experiencing the most heartbreaking loss and needs to accept the past and move on by giving her heart to Alex.

I would've given this book a 5 star but a couple things really changed my mind:
- Not knowing what Nick wanted to tell Mandy. I know I'm just suppose to accept that Mandy moved on from Nick and despite moving on and not wondering anymore, she's found peace with not knowing BUT I can't. Throughout the book, it is teased multiple times that Nick had something important to say to Mandy but forgot and that thought haunts Mandy in her dreams. It haunts me too to be honest. I really wish the author would've put that part in and eased my poor heart. Despite not knowing Nick I loved him sooo much. I wish I could read a book just about him especially after reading If By Chance.

- Alex's loooong hiatus in Mandy's life. I understand that Alex was upset and angry at Mandy but barely looking and speaking to her for months was extreme. One month would've been fine in my opinion but the fact that it went on for longer was just ridiculous. He did make me a bit mad because it was perceived that he really adored and loved Mandy but then just doesn't want to be a part of her life anymore despite knowing the circumstances behind her decision. Up until that point I really loved Alex.

No.
I hate fucking Mandy. And I hate Alex. He had literally no right to be mad. What was his argument? Oh, my girlfriend actually turns out to be the mother of the child my sister adopted six years ago. Fuck her. She wants to see her baby. Fuck her. She gave her up because she was depressed when the baby was born after the father died 6 months prior. Bitch.
FUCK. YOU. ALEX.
Didn’t even read the end of this. Fuck this book.

Mandy learned the hard lesson of loss at a very young age when her boyfriend died at the age of twenty. It took her years to overcome the loss, if she ever did. Six years later she still hasn't met anyone who even came close to tempting her to move on. Until the day she met Alex, wet as a rat he offered her his umbrella and took her breath away the moment she looked into his eyes. Caught off guard by her response to a stranger whose name she didn't even know she could not get him out of her mind. When they met up again she realized he was the blind date her old friend wanted to set her up with. Alex was mezmerised by her from the moment he looked into her eyes. She soon realized that he may be the one making her live again. But she needed to share her past with him, no matter how difficult it may be. Which she did but she still clung to the one secret which may mean the end of them. And the longer she held on, the more difficult it became because she could not bear to lose him and the light and happiness he brought to her life. And then, when least expected, her secret was not a secret anymore and her whole life blew up right in front of her eyes. Alex believed that she purposely mislead him. But in losing him she gained a friend in his sister and she met up with a part of her past she thought she would never see again. This is such a heartwrenching story, full of emotion and angst. It tells the story of loss, of hurt so bad it shatters you in a way that you think you cannot be put back together again. But life also give back after it's taken from you and perseverance is sometimes our survival. And then, one day...the sun is breaking through the clouds and you can breathe again, however heavy some memories may be. And hope for more will always have you putting one foot in front of the other... This story rips you apart and then puts you back together again. Again, a five star read from this author, fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.

A beautiful, heartbreaking, emotional book.
My heart broke for Mandy, god I loved her. I was feeling the emotions and in most of the book I was crying ugly cries.
Mandy’s and Nicks love was heartbreaking. And the letter, GOD I had to stop before I read again a few times. Mandy stayed in the past sure but when the chance was given she was all in and I loved this about the book.
She was not weak. She was handling her grief with pride and when Alex came along their story was beautiful to read.
Alex was everything and more. Even though in the end I was angry with him I actually felt their love and all the affection.
The twist was perfect. And the transition from Now and then was easy to follow.
This book was very emotional and to read it you will need tissues for sure BUT is not only a sad book. Is a book for young love and family but is also a book about second chances, grief and acceptance.
This was my first book of the author and I have to say I am impressed with her writing. English is not my first language but the book was well written so it was easy for me to read.

𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭. This is one helleuva a emotional rollercoaster which under all the heartache is laced with pure and utter love.

The introduction to this story is heart wrenchingly beautiful and will bring you to tears but have faith because....

Mandy and Alex's gravitational pull is stunning and swoonworthy terrority. There instant connection, random encounters and passion seaps from the pages. Beautiful.

We follow Nina's experiences with loss, learning to love and healing all those buried traumas. I wasn't sure what to else to expect and I truly think you should go blind into this! I thoroughly enjoyed it and was fully invested in both Nina and Alex's relationship, their chemistry and love for each other was incredible! Seriously where do I find a man like Alex?

It was a beautifully written book and had me tearing up at times. I can't wait to read more from this author :)

Where do I start? First off, prepare some tissues and ice cream.
This book tore my heart out, put it in a blender and then threw it back in my face.
I can't remember the last book that made me tear up so much. It was so pure and heartfelt. The heroine (Mandy) has been through so much and the fact that this book discussed some real and hard truths of life made me so happy because not enough authors discuss some of the things we see in this book.
I always have requirements of a romance book in order for it to be worth 4 or 5 stars
- did it make me smile
- did it make me laugh
- did it make me cry
- did it make me hot under the collar
This book hit every one of them and then some.

Also, where do I find my very own Alex? That man is a sexy sweetheart 😍

Happy Reading Loves 🌻🖤

Losing Love follows Mandy's story, and at the start of the book she has to make one of the hardest decisions of her young life when she loses the love of her life in a car accident.

6 years on, and even though she's getting on with her life, she still hasn't moved on or gotten over the guilt of what she had to do back then.

Then Alex walks into her life and she finally starts to believe that maybe she does deserve to love and be loved in return.

Ghis book is extremely well written and will draw you in and take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. It was heartbreaking at times, but I absolutely loved it.

Many and Alex's journey is not an easy one and when secrets were finally revealed and truths finally told I was praying that they would work it out and it kept me hooked.

This book is just breathtaking!

19 year old Mandy has it all; until tragedy strikes and she has to make some of the hardest decisions a person would ever have to make. 6 years on numbness and pain start to ease when a chance meeting with Alex threatens to change that and show Mandy she can love again. But is it ever that straight forward?

This book made me cry! I have never cried reading a book but this one did. Just wow. The emotional rollercoaster you go on through this book will stay with me for a long time. There is nothing I can say about this book that does it any justice to how magnificent it was. The greatest compliment I can give is that it reminds me of the type of rollercoaster rides you go through reading a Danielle Steele novel. Just…

Well, lets start by saying i love this book. Believe me when i say i dont find book i love easily. In a romance novel, I always look for a lot of love, compassion, possessiveness, caring, passion and heat. So yeah, did i find this book like that?
Yes, i loved their love.
And it is not just a book with love.
It is a journey of a girl with traumatic past and painful decisions.
Its about loss and grief.
But finding love and a happy ending in the end was the destiny for her, I think.
I would recommend you to read this book if you like a sweet love story with a message hidden in the story.
I could totally compare this book to colleen hoover's writing. They had this same(love story with a message).
So, yeah read this because this book need the hype.
I m not going to say more.

Oh my god, this was in my TBR list since I saw Caitlin posting a TikTok about this with tears rolling down her cheeks. And that was last year, I couldn't do it because I know I'm gonna cry until I said that's enough of waiting and picked the book out. Damn, I love Alex Hale and Mandy, who is freaking strong after everything that has happen. There were parts at the almost end of the book that I couldn't understand why it has to be dragged a little, but all in all, I LOVED IT !! Oh, and I cried a lot. Like a lot.

So, I'm gonna go read a dark romance book and I'll come back for Laura's second book in the series and cry again and just do the same thing till I finish all of her books.

Thank you, Laura Ashley Gallagher for writing a beautiful story of Mandy and Alex 💖

Incredibly emotional story with a plot twist that left me shocked. I adored Mandy and how strong she was. Reading about her opening up to Alex and start to let him in was amazing. The attraction between these two is intense from the start, and as the story progresses its easy to see how fate truly brought them together. I absolutely loved the friendship that developed between Mandy and Lydia, I thought it brought both women a lot of peace and closure. This book made me feel equal parts heartbroken and joyful, as only some books can. Really enjoyable read with great chemistry and spice. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I could give this book ♾️ starss if I could.

Damn it woman, how did you managed to break me this much with this book too? The only difference was that this one put me back together at the end of the story.
This book was all surprising. I didn't expect nothing of what happened. Yes I had some assumptions here and there but I was so supriseeed when things switched 180 degrees and everything changed.
Mandy and Alex really were a definitions of right person/wrong time and truly soulmates.
Their development was everything to me. I cried for them almost the whole book and I got so attached to them.

This book was quite the disappointment because her ex when he said that That how he never got to watch her walk down the aisle to him made my heart crack and I knew he wasn’t the love interests but I was kind of disappointed with Alex and her relationship because they are very plain like the second time they meet she started thinking about kissing him while in six years she never did anything with anyone or thought so that was so weird how fast they went like Bruhh in couple they like in love so pretty sure her first was the epic love and didn’t really got to see nick much but I wished he was alive

Probably a 4.3 Star.
This book had a little of everything! From loss and sadness to finding hope and romance, this book made me experience a rollercoaster of emotions. Read it during my exam period, hence, took a little longer than expected. I love the small little parts where Alex and Mandy quarrel with each other due to the miscommunication and misunderstanding of their feelings. Anyways, this review isn't about spoilers so I just want to say that it didn't fully captivate me though, and it was a little predicted after Part 1 that's why it isn't 5 stars. This book still deserve some love so hit it up!!! Way to go!!!

This was another one of those contemporary romance books that just does me in. I was lucky enough to beta read this book and really enjoyed it overall.
There were a lot of parts that, as things clicked into place, I was like, oh no. And a few times where I had to put down the book and just walk away.
For all that, though I did enjoy this one, it pulled on my heartstrings. I enjoyed the characters and watching their relationship form. I especially enjoyed the ending, even if it was bittersweet. I look forward to reading the other books in the series when I can.
