I have never understood why people spend a fortune on a wedding, only to end up getting divorced 2 years later --- the money would have been better spent as a down payment on property.

Lauren owns a cat cafe where she bakes cupcakes and her Norwegian Forest Cat, Annie, seats customers. Her cousin, Zoe, also works with her. In this book, Lauren is planning her wedding to Mitch and they are checking out a place to possibly hold the reception. On their second visit they are checking out the knot garden when they find one of the owners dead and stuffed in a hedge. Zoe once again pulls them into the investigation.

I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. The book's well-written with wonderful characters and it's a quick, fun read. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and kept hooked throughout, reading the book in one sitting. This engaging read has a mystery that'll keep you guessing and on your toes. I'm eager for more from this series. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.

Pouncing on the Proof (Norwegian Forest Cat Café #14) — Jinty James (15 chapters + Epilogue) July 9, 2024

Lauren and Mitch are engaged and are preparing for their wedding. While Lauren and Zoe are on the hunt for a wedding and reception hall, starting with the Stately Vue Hall. On a repeat visit, they hear a scream and discover a dead body.

Now, besides finding a reception hall, ordering invitations, and setting up meals, they have to solve this mystery, even if the dastardly Detective Castern keeps a watch on their involvement.

Meanwhile, croquet sets are turning up missing around town and the culprit turns out to be someone the gang knows and loves.

Always a good and fast read.

Five stars.

Lauren and Zoe are checking out a wedding site her mother really thinks she should have her wedding at. It is very nice and very expensive! The owner is rather pushy on things, so that is not setting too well for them. As they leave, a young bridezilla enters and is demanding the best of everything including a certain date for her wedding...even though that date has already been booked by another couple. Later they return to check out the koi pond, and stumble upon the dead body of the owner! Who would kill someone trying to make their 'special day' perfect? Will Lauren and Zoe figure it out before the police do? What about Lauren's wedding? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Another heartwarming tail… uhm tale!

I LOVED being back with Lauren and the gang! And this is so special because of a certain wedding that needs planning :D

Whenever anyone asks the question “What could possibly go wrong?” you know everything will go wrong!

I love this series because the characters feel like friends. Because cat Annie steals the show. Because the tone is warm and the plot well written. Because the mystery is clever and I was wrong about whodunit. Because it’s just so cute!!! Highly recommend.

Love these books!

Meowvelous mysteries! Annie is so cute. These cozies are warm and light just like a bit of cocoa or a latte on chilly morning. Annie, Lauren and Zoe are back to help plan Lauren's upcoming wedding. Of course shenanigans happen and they must solve a mystery. Always fun to read and a sweet treat.

Zoe was once more at her theorizing best as she managed to sneak in some sleuthing along with helping Lauren plan her wedding. Zoe’s enthusiasm is just so contagious sometimes, lol you can’t help but be happy when she’s in a scene. That was one ingenious showdown on Lauren and Zoe’s part—love what they did to the killer after Annie had pounced on some proof just like the title says.

Cute book, but I have to admit, I don't enjoy reading about wedding preparations. The hoops people go through to get married seems kind of stupid. The characters are fun and there is some humor. The plot and storyline was fine. The wedding definitely took precedent over the murder. It's a fun read. Highly recommend.

The 14th title in this series sees Lauren and Zoe finding a a murder victim’s body at a wedding venue. In between organising Lauren‘s wedding preparations they carry out a little bit of sleuthing with the help of Annie, Lauren’s Norwegian Forest Cat. A fun cozy mystery series.
