Every politician has a plan until the demon comes.

An atmospheric thriller that weaves climate change into a story about outcast government agents tracking a mysterious political assassin akin to an urban legend.

When a Secret Service operation in 2044 Tokyo goes wrong, a United States Counter Assault Agent finds her career in jeopardy. To get her life back, she partners with a fellow operative and scapegoat from Japan for a covert Presidential mission.

Soon after, strange attacks on politicians compel them down a twisted trail to the Shenandoah Forest as they hunt a monstrosity born from indigenous legends. Nicknamed 'The Demon' by locals, they must discern fairytale from foe before another assault.

Global threats brewing in the Virginia mountains may alter warfare forever unless they outlive their search and what they discover.

This is an action packed thriller set in the near future.

Dee Johnson is a secret agent in Japan and her mission go's seriously wrong and she is blamed for that failure. She teams up with another disgraced agent Ko who is from another country. Together they try to piece together the attacks on the leaders of various political parties.

This is a political espionage thriller which has some strange paranormal underlines.
Somehow, Phillips pulled it altogether and created an excellent read. It's an intriguing story that keeps your attention throughout.

Enjoy

Hidden Demons opens like John Wick in Japan. We get right to the action, with sword wielding assassins dressed as cartoon characters, helicopters falling from the sky, and the attempted assassination of the U. S. President.
Author Phillips seems to be familiar with weapons. I don’t have the expertise to judge his depiction of edged weapons, but his portrayal of firearms was well done. No silencers on revolvers, or semi-autos going click, click, click when empty.
I engaged with the characters and wanted to know what would happen to them. The fighting is ridiculously over the top, but that’s the point. It's fun to read.
The plot is imaginative. Is there a demon or not? Phillips channels Author Conan Doyle in his ability to keep presenting the reader with information that is correct, but potentially misleading.
If you like over the top action, complex plots, and accurate weapons portrayal, this is a book for you.

Very thrilling, edge of your seat read! At first I was thrown off a little by the writing style. It seemed to jump from scene to scene and it was tricky to get into. However, it actually IS intended to be read like a movie and definitely does! It makes for a quick read and I actually really enjoyed it that way! I do feel like you miss getting some depth and background of characters that way, but the storyline made up for it.
I also liked the addition of the Japanese folk tale. It made me love Ko and his actions all the more! Lots of thrills, cool futuristic technology, and a slight bit of paranormal. Very interesting look at human nature as well. Definitely worth giving it a try! For Ko!! Ahhhh I love Ko! The book has an ‘ending for now’ sort of cliffhanger and I’m looking forward to reading more. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Hidden Demon (Altered Demons Book 1) by Fish Phillips is a well-written thriller set in the near future. Dee Johnson is the main character, a special agent, and is installed in Japan. But her mission goes decidedly wrong. Along with another special agent, Ko, from another country, she must confront and look into various attacks on political leaders. Along with this storyline, there is climate change commentary, a touch of the paranormal, and espionage. All of these elements combine to create an intriguing story and one that is eminently readable. The plot grabs your attention right from the start, while the pace keeps it going until the end. Highly recommend it for an interesting and engaging read.

I love books that do not just settle for ordinary plots, and this book is one of them. Hidden Demon by Fish Phillips is definitely the kind of book that surprised me. From start to finish, I had a great time reading it and it was almost impossible for me to stop because the plot becomes more interesting. This book is not just an ordinary urban legend and thriller book. It has so much more.

I love the writing style of Fish Phillips. I felt like reading this book took me out of my comfort zone. So much things have happened, and also, the settings were greatly described with vivid details. It was an enjoyable read to me as a whole.

Hidden Demon (Altered Demons Book 1) is the first novel I have read by Fish Phillips I was impressed. This book is very magical, transporting the reader to a whole new world of magic. There was a real balance of darkness and realm of fantasy with lightness and a mild glimpse of humor. Phillips brought the characters to life, as he penned this amazing story and created his characters. I was entranced by the story. The writing was fast-paced. This book is a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down. I received a copy of this novel through BookFunnel. This is an honest review, and my own opinions.

Dee Johnson is a US Secret Agent embedded in Japan. Set in the near future, her operation goes terribly wrong, and she is blamed for the failure. Together with another disgraced agent from another country, Ko and Dee team up to investigate strange new attacks on the leaders and members of politics. This is a political/espionage thriller with paranormal underlines. I found the author did a fantastic job in his descriptive storytelling, so to really pull us into the story more. I enjoyed Ko as a character the most.
